This was my first time coming into the salon. I have been living in LA for a little over a year and don't have a hair stylist I am committed to, unfortunately. I went in Life Booker to see what salons were advertising deals. Everyone loves a good deal, right?Eventually I came across A.T Tramp and bought the deal I think the name had to do a lot with it. Upon checking in I was told Benji would be the one cutting my hair. He was very welcoming and right off the bat asked me what I did for a living to better visualize a hairstyle for me. Keep in mind I didn't have much direction for a hairstyle since I've had everything from a Rihanna-esque faux hawk to long wavy hair. I've been going here for over 8 years. Robert cuts my curly and unruly hair. I initially came to donate my hair to locks of love and found Robert on yelp as a stylist who is great with thick, curly hair. He does a great job every time. He is thorough and figures out the best style for your face shape. He will also politely tell you when a certain cut wouldn't be the best idea. Yoshi at AT Tramp is the best hairstylist ever and I have lived all over the world and gone to many top salons from New York to Hong Kong to London. He is great at Asian hair too (like mine) which is hard for many stylists. I have defected, been disloyal, cheated and just plain got lazy to drive into the city so I went to other hairstylists -- but always, always. always I eventually come back to Yoshi and he fixes my hair and makes me brand new, sexy and modern again. He is meticulous and a perfectionist. He is the real deal. Last time I went, he spent 2 hours slowly cutting my hair just right. After I washed my hair the next day, I hardly had to spend any time styling it at all because the cut made the style. The price is not cheap -- $95 -- but it lasts and lasts. Janelle Varada!!! Janelle is a very special colorist (and an amazing woman!). I have been going to her for about a year. I have been to SO many colorists since moving to LA 6 years ago. I have found some that were good but until I found Janelle I still wasn't 100% satisfied for a variety of reasons. She is so thorough and specific- so dedicated to listening to me and really understanding what I'm looking to achieve with my color. After my first visit I was so confident in her abilities that I was pretty sure I'd never go elsewhere. After my second visit I was sure it was a lock. I decided last year after always having long dark hair I wanted to cut all my hair off and go back to blonde. Tramp has been the place to do it. Robert gave me the cutest pixie cut that has now grown to my shoulders. He has cut it twice in between keeping it away from a mullet and making it stylish and low maintenance. She is beyond talented and a true artist who has trained with the best in the biz. Janelle has taken me from my natural blonde to a gorgeous red and now back to blonde. I kid you not - a week hasn't gone by where people don't stop me on the street to tell me how beautiful my hair color is. This has never happened to me before. NEVER ever in my entire existence of 36 years have I experienced anything like what happened to me today. It still hasn't registered in my head that this occurred, except for the evidence that is actually ON MY HEAD and eyebrow! But after this Yelp, will come the better business bureau complaint, and so on! Cant grasp what Erin and her little "posse" did to me today. A ruthless, untalented, disguisting excuse of a hairdresser. I went to A.T. Tramp today after my original hairdresser, Benji, decided to leave. Good for you Benji actually! This salon is terrible and the only talent here was Benji and Ramsii, which I have seen in several salons in the almost 18 years I have been getting my hair colored. I called the salon last week to make my appt. but my original hairdresser (that I was going to for almost 2 years) was no longer there. The guy over the phone (receptionist AKA Erin's biatch that has no idea what happened and harasses me later) tells me that Erin is a great colorist, used to work at Umberto, blah blah blah, and she will do my hair and eyebrows with the same formula. Ok so I book the appt. and thinking its only roots, not my roots and highlights, it should be fine. I get to the salon and Erin starts my hair. Very bland, not friendly and says she has the formula, via text from Benji to do my color. I told her that he colors my eyebrows as well and she says fine, "Ive been doing this for 15 years" " I used to work at Umberto" and even knows the AMAZING person that did my hair for well over a decade prior to Benji. She starts and is basically just glopping dye on my head with no regard to my highlights or anything and obviously dislikes her job. Why are you doing hair then?? It takes talent, artistic ability and love to do this. Your shaming everyone else who actually enjoys this profession. She finishes up in less than 10 mins with a messy job to say the least. I notice dye all over my ear and ask her to wipe it off. Cut to about 15 mins later and I realize she hasn't put any dye to lighten my brows yet. I ask her after looking for her, to apply that on. She says she doesn't have the formula for it. It's not my fault Benji did not respond to my texts. OK, but over the phone I specifically asked that I get my roots and eyebrows dyed and it was "no problem" we will have your formula, etc. She hesitantly with her attitude, puts the same color that has been sitting out there for over 15 mins on my brows and now I'm wondering what this girl is doing. She could care less. Leaves again and now the sweet lady wants to wash my color out. She washes my hair and I check my brows after and they are not lifting any color. Tell Erin and she says, I didn't hear back from Benji and I don't and can't do anything. Its not my problem. I will not fix it. Then why the f&*% am I here?? I could have gone somewhere else with the formula that was given to Benji initially but was told you can do this. She refused to fix my brows, all while I can feel them burning now!!! She barely wipes them off and storms away. I'm so upset at this point and pissed off. Then the jerky guy that made my appt. comes up to me and gets himself involved. "Your being rude and I'm gonna call the cops" he says. WOW! Really? Where did you come from and please do!!! He leaves and my left brow is still burning so bad. I start combing my own hair out and both hair lady washers and the stylist next to me look embarrassed. The stylist tells me to have milk put on my brow to help with the redness. The sweet lady that has washed my hair for almost 2 years also brings me Vaseline to rub on my brow area. Then to make things worse, another receptionist, some blonde 12 year old, says your making a scene, etc. we have clients in here. Are you all kidding me? I have been coming here for almost 2 years and spent several thousands on my hair and I'm disrupting your clients? At this point, it was as if I'm in the twilight zone. I can't even take this nonsense, all while my brow is burning and I'm rubbing the Vaseline on it and arguing with complete morons. Then the psycho Erin, tells me that she told the other lady to NOT get me anything to help with the burning. Accusing me that I'm making this up and it's my own fault! I can't believe I'm even here at this point. I'm literally being bullied by her and the 2 receptionists, the guy which somehow wanted to call the police, but vanished and never came back. I thanked the lady that got me the milk and Vaseline and the other hairdresser and got out of that insane asylum. Called my husband, who is taking care of our baby today, while I go to have my relaxing "get my hair done" time. The entire way home, my hair is wet in a bun and my brow is still burning. I get home and its still red, we took pictures. I put several small ice packs on it. My roots look dark orangy and burned eyebrow. Beyond anything I've ever experienced. This place and its employees are a DISGRACE!!! Erin you need to be fired and shot! read more

You know how I love spending my Saturday? Waiting an hour for my hair appointment. I arrived at 2:30 for my Keratin treatment on March 31. Darryl, the stylist I had been booked with, was with another customer, so I went outside to make a phone call. I came back at 2:45, and Darryl sat me in the chair, and said he was just "finishing up." Great, let me pick up a magazine, and flip through it for a few. Another 15 minutes pass, and no Darryl. Then he says, "Rosie will get you washed." Well, Rosie washed my hair 3 times. I'm not sure if she was trying to buy more time for Darryl, or if she genuinely didn't know what she was doing. When she was finally finished with her washing frenzy, she told me to go back to Darryl's station. With the big, fluffy towel wrapped around my head, I couldn't hear her, and I asked her to repeat. She leaned down and practically screamed in my ear, "You can go back to Darryl's chair now!" Such charming customer service at this salon. It was 3:15 when I finally made it back to Darryl's chair with my hair so squeaky clean, you could play it like a violin. Darryl still wasn"t ready. I waited an additional 15 minutes, and it was 3:30, a full hour after my appointment was supposed to start that it actually started. I read my book quietly for about 45 minutes before Darryl had to interrupt me to start on a political rant. Now, I really don't want to hear my stylist's political views when I'm getting my hair done, and I sure as hell don't want to hear them if they differ from my own. To sum it up, I can't believe this place, with its unprofessionalism, maintains a presence in Beverly Hills, and I am shocked that it gets 5 stars on yelp. Those leaving 5 star reviews must work at the salon or be related to the stylists. read more

I've been hesitant to write this because this woman is a gem and I don't want to lose her due to over popularity, but that is just plain selfish, so... SONIA MIER is a hairstyling goddess! I have never, in 31 years, had such an amazing haircut. Every time. The first time she totally transformed my face and gave me an actual hair style, rather than the loose strands of hair that used to just surround my face. I now have bangs and as a bonus bang trims are free - this might be a standard at all salons but for someone who's never had bangs before it seems like I'm getting away with something naughty ;) Her attention to detail is impeccable. Truly, she's incredible. I have never before had straight men complement my hair cut without prompting. Now it happens all the time! She's also really sweet and considerate. I was 30 minutes late for my last appointment and she made it work. I cannot say enough great things about this woman. Okay first of all, when I was calling in to book my appointment, she was rude and condescending. Excuse me? I'm just trying to book an appointment. Although, little known, there is a great skin therapist named Susan tucked away behind the reception area. I like to go there because her studio is very private. Susan is so nice and is certified in various types of skin treatments. She also offers permanent makeup, waxing and eyelash extensions! I had my eyelashes done several times by Susan (i.e., friends' weddings) and it was so awesome! It was so relaxing, I fell asleep...They came out incredible. She always makes sure that I'm happy with the outcome, so I feel good going to her. Oh, and she is ALWAYS on time. read more

All I have to say is JANELLE, JANELLE, JANELLE! I honestly cannot say enough about my experience at A.T. Tramp. I bought a deal on Living Social for $99 for $200 of salon services. To say it was worth every penny is putting it mildly. It was my first experience at the salon. I'm blonde and have been getting highlights done for about 14 years now, and I'm incredibly picky about my color. That said, I wasn't getting what I wanted from the stylist I kept going to, and I decided to take a chance and go to a new salon. I AM SOOOO GLAD I DID!!! From the first moment I called and spoke to the front desk on the phone, it was a wonderful experience. The gentleman that took my call told me that Janelle would be doing my color if I chose to book an appointment and he promised she'd call me back within 15 minutes to talk about my wants. She returned my call, as promised, and was patient and sweet. I booked an appointment for the same day. From the moment I met Janelle, she was a total sweetheart and SO professional. She knew EXACTLY what I wanted and I immediately trusted that she would give it to me. I cannot stress enough how AMAZING this woman is. She took her time, didn't rush the process (a full-set of highlights is time consuming), and never ONCE did I feel like she was speeding along or not focusing fully on my hair. I've been going to Carmela Tunzi for 10 years now and have followed her thru many salons. She is by far the best colorist I have ever used. She does such a natural job on my color. I get so many compliments on a daily basis where people think that my hair is my natural color. She really knows what she is doing. I read a review someone else wrote about her about her not showing up and I can't even believe that's the same person. In the 10 years I've gone to her (6-8x a year), she has never been even remotely unprofessional so I'm really shocked. I have been going to Erin Johnson at A.T. Tramp for over 10 years, and have followed her from her other salons. Having her at this salon is the perfect combo. I just couldn't trust my hair with anyone else. In the 10 years - she has seen me through various cuts (I LOVE changing my style) and she is always up to the challenge. The results are always the same - fab, precision cut. We just started coloring my grays and she really takes the time to care for my hair, and with my getting wavier in the 10 years, Erin manages to adjust my style to a tee. Like what the other reviewer mentioned, Erin has a very Zen-like demeanor - and she listens to your needs, requests and stories. And best of all, she makes you just fall in love with your hair again and again! Thank god for ROBERT. He is an amazing hair stylist. Some people cut hair as a job, some as a practice. Robert is the latter. He has been cutting my hair and my wife's hair for 11 years now (maybe more than that for me). His short and long cuts are equally amazing, but it must be emphasized that short haircuts are extra difficult (there is no room for error with short hair) and he has mastered them. My hair grows in a kind of giant cowlick, and Robert is able to go beyond simply working around the problem and manages to work the problem into the solution. I don't know what I'll do if I lose him. I have had to use other stylists in moments of crisis (too busy to make it to Beverly Hills, out of town, last minute meeting, etc.), and my haircut lasts about two days if that. A great hair stylist always anticipates the future, rather than cutting in a way that looks good in the moment and then turns quickly. When I leave Robert I am happy and relieved. A week later the cut gets twice as good. Usually my cut lasts for at least a month. The prices at AT tramp are reasonable, especially for Beverly Hills. Further more, a shitty cut that lasts a week or so would be two thirds the price anyway. I should also mention that my wife feels pretty much the same way as I do, but, her hair being longer, her cut can last up to three months sometimes. Robert, Mi amor... read more

I started going to him twenty years ago when he was an award winning instructor for Vidal Sassoon, followed him to the Rodeo Salon, and then to A.T. Tramp. In over two decades, he's given me many cuts ranging from long hair to very short, and he always gets it right. Also, because his cuts are so technical and precise, they grow out beautifully. I've referred several friends, each of whom has very different hair, and they've always become satisfied, permanent clients. He's also just an incredibly nice person. I got a balayage from Benji, and at first I was really nervous and kinda hesitant to do anything to my hair, but I'm friends with the receptionist (Brittany) and she told me she knew Benji would do a great job. I decided to go for it, and I'm so glad I did. Benji was super sweet and really fun to talk to. He made the 4 hours I was there pretty much fly by. We had scheduled a 3 hour appointment, but he was more than willing to spend the extra time making sure the color was exactly what I wanted by putting toner in and washing my hair 2 extra times. I apologized for making him stay longer, but he assured me it was absolutely no problem. He seemed even more excited than I was to see how it was going to turn out. Do you believe in Miracles? Janelle at A T Tramp can perform one for you. I had a terrible experience from a hairdresser that did not listen to what I wanted nor really cared what I wanted. He took my dark blonde hair with light blonde highlights and colored it a dark brunette. It had taken me 10 years to get the color I had and he ruined it in 20 minutes. I had just moved to a new state and so this why I was using a new hairdresser. I went home and then called him and said he had to fix it. I went back and all he did was put about 10 streaks of lighter color that actually looked almost orange! I was devastated. Hair is such a personal choice and we have to be able to trust our hair dressers! My daughter who lives in Los Angeles had gone to Janelle for 4 years and her hair color is gorgeous. I waited 4 months to visit Janelle because my hair was so damaged from the color and streaking that had been used on me. I didn't feel like myself the whole time. As soon as I entered Janelle's salon and met her I felt so at peace. She really listened and really understood and really cared how I felt, and she was able to put into words what I couldn't explain, that I just hadn't felt comfortable in my own skin for months.
