This company over charged me with unnecessary repairs and labor after ignoring a corroded electrical panel on my a/c unit. They ignored it and then charged me for coming out a second time and then admitted to my face on the third trip out by a supervisor on the corroded electrical panel. Basic HVAC knowledge. read more

Wish we would've seen Yelp reviews before calling this business. The furnace went out in our rental unit on a Saturday while we were out of town, so we called them. The communication was poor as far as when the technician could make it out but as we had already checked with another company who had no availability until Monday, so we just gave them the okay. The tech didn't give us a heads up to let us know he was arriving as they said he would, and he initially diagnosed it as the control board needing to be replaced. We asked for a ballpark price and we're told around $485 including labor and $99 diagnostic trip. He could not tell us the price of the part and googled a similar one to come up with the estimate. When he returned 2 days later to replace the part, he had suddenly decided that the gas valve also needed to be replaced and conveniently had that part with him! We then got the bill which came out to an astounding $1023 dollars. For reference, we just replaced the whole furnace in our primary residence with a high end unit 3x the size and whole house humidifier for $5,100, so a bill this size for this repair was highway robbery. Having no choice other than to start over, we told him to go ahead with part replacement. 3 weeks later, the furnace is having issues again. We called another company, who said it was the limit switch (which was not tested by A to Z), they completed the repair for $134 and we've had no issues since. Do not use this company! Service guy came out when our wall furnace in family room went out during worst cold snap in years. Guy said it was ignitor, charged me $85 for the service call, and that's the last I ever saw or heard from this company of grifters. I called and left messages and no response EVER. This happened a couple years ago but I still feel so strongly about these shysters that when I saw their name come up during a google search I felt I owed it to other potential customers to hear what a shoddy company this is. Worst company! Do not use to this company! They lie to you and do not follow through. They never notified me regarding having an inspection post A/C and Furnace install. I didn't know about the permits still open with the city until I tried to sell my home. I called the company looking for answers and "Jerry" who claims to run the company called me a liar. I've heard from many people to stay away from this place. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt, three times and got burned! Last year I had to get a city inspection on my furnace. The man came in, was very nice, I told him I didn't know much about furnaces at all. Little did I know he'd sabotage my furnace. This was in the fall. Summer came around and the AC wasn't working. Called DTE to check it out because we have their protection plan. The man from DTE found that the guy from A to Z disconnected the WIRE!! He won me over with his charm, and then I guess he'd think I'd call him over for a new AC unit. This is not it. This past December I was in a bind. I was leaving for Mexico and on that day a rental property's furnace went out. I had no choice but call A to Z again, because they were in my phone and I had no time. The furnace was stopping and starting like it had a problem breathing. The same guy showed up! Skinny, in his 40's, brown hair with a beard. He said it was the heat exchanger. Told me the furnace had to be replaced. Well when I got back from Mexico, my tenant said the furnace was doing the same thing!!! Turns out the furnace wasn't bad, the fins were just clogged and couldn't breathe. That's why it was turning on and off. It was overheating, like thought. So basically all it needed was to be cleaned. And on top of that, they didn't even have the professionalism to to clean the fins when they replaced it with the new one! BAD WORK!!! I confronted them, told them I knew how they scammed me, and forced them to pay me some money. Also while in Mexico another renter called me and turns out the motor went bad. A to Z replaced it with a cheap brand. It made noises. I demanded they replace it. They did, it still made noise, their excuse was it was the part and not them. I told them I uses to be a mechanic and I know that they sold me a bad motor, and demanded they give me a better brand. They finally replaced it with a GE brand and no more noises. Purchased a furnace inducer motor, tried to return it in less than 24 hours. Part was CLEARLY uninstalled and unused. In fact the parts guy is the one who opened the box. Not me! Now I suspect this was their way of insuring no return. Tried to return it and parts guys said no, cant do it after telling me the day before if I could prove it was unused the manager would consider the return.. The worst part of this transaction wasn't the fact that they wouldnt return the part, but its the fact that the manager would not come from the back after I drove 15miles back to the store.. He was was allegedly too busy, at opening of business. What does that say to a customer? Even if you had no intent on issuing a refund, why would he not even come address a customer who has done business with them in the past, but will not do any in the future. I had a really positive experience with them about a week ago. About 5 years back I had them install a new furnace & AC. It's been running great until just about a week ago when the furnace wouldn't work on a Saturday night (bad timing.) I called for after-hours service, reached their answering service, and they contacted a tech for me. When I got the call back and described the problem, they explained that this was probably just a dirty flame sensor and is a very easy and quick repair. I asked "How easy & quick? Is this something I should be doing myself?" While they were prepared to head over to fix my furnace, they explained where the sensor is located and how to clean it. I removed it, cleaned it, put it back in, and the furnace immediately fired back up and has been working great! No visit necessary! I called them back to ask where I need to send the case of beer (they politely declined). They also mentioned which spare parts I might want to have on-hand just in case my furnace ever decides to leave me in the cold at the wrong time. read more

Our Cozy furnace wall unit worked fine for 15 years, then died, in December 2019, I called A to Z heating & cooling. The technician said there were burnt wires on the back and it couldn't be fixed, so he talked us into buying a new furnace. Later we found out from their head Tech that the wires on the old furnace, in deed could have been replaced. So on December 3rd 2019 the new furnace was installed. After the 3rd visit, they finally got the unit to work. It worked for 3 &1/2 months until April 2020 and then quit working. Due to the pandemic they said they wouldn't be coming to homes, but would put me down for a later date. Now fast forward to December 2020, they finally come out and can't fix it. They come out 2 more times and can't fix it. Their solution is this, give us a refund and remove the furnace. Now I have duct work hanging out of the ceiling and wires and a gas line coming out of the wall. Now no furnace at all. Who does that, worse company I've dealt with in my life. I hope people can learn from my experience. Run as fast as you can from this company. read more

By the end after having to deal with them numerous times and rudeness from a couple of workers and the manager that rating deflated dramatically . Had an appointment 7 days from the time I called. Yikes, I know its a bad time of year for AC repair but thats a bit far. Should have called others. So the day of the appointment comes and they tell me "he will call when he's on his way to your house". So I go up to the Saturn store up the street knowing that if he calls I can be home in 4 minutes. No call, leave a note on the door. Okie dokie, reschedule. Same thing, "he will call when he's on his way". Ok, so I wait around till 2pm (doors open, waiting). I call them. "Oh, you're next", ok. Never calls, never shows. Get a phone message from them around 5pm that says "call us back to cancel or reschedule". So, I sat here all day with the door open waiting and no one shows and they are gonna tell me I wasn't home (I haven't called yet, and shouldn't I am done with them). Scheduled appointment for inspection took day off work. They were a no call no show for services paid for in advance. No phone call came to reschedule. When I contacted them, Christine stared she had "no idea" what happened. They refused to reschedule on a weekday after 4pm stating their last appointment for an inspection is 3pm and if they came out on the weekend they would be an extra charge citing some kind of "salt test". Do not waste your time with this company. Had an estimate done the first week of October to have some vents moved. After several calls to try to schedule the work to be done we were told it would be three weeks out. Day before appointment I call to confirm. I was transferred to a couple of different people then told I would get a call right back. Two hours later I call them back to be told in a very rude manner I am not on the schedule and now have to wait until after Christmas. A-Z is our furnace installer. I find on this cold, 44 degree November day, my furnace isn't coming on. I called at 2:30pm. Was told they were booked for service calls thru monday or tuesday!? Was told to call back after 5pm to reach the emergency answering service and the oncall technician should be able to come out this evening. Called AT 5pm, was told they do not have anyone on call this night, I would have to call back to office saturday am. I already know they can't get to me until next week! Had a very good experience with A to Z. Installed a new furnace and air conditioner and Jason did it by himself and was very professional. The results were amazing, and reduced our electric bill by at least 20%. Needed to have them back for the first use of the AC because it didn't come on. Kent came out after hours and spent an hour investigating the problem. It was the thermostat which he replaced at no cost to me. Again very professional and genuinely concerned about our satisfaction. Would recommend A to Z to anyone that wants or needs HVAC repair or new. Great experience!! read more

I have used A to Z in the past and every time they come to perform a service they are always trying to up sell me. This time my AC unit went out and I called them for help. First service tech came out, charged the system with Freon and charged $700. I asked him if there were any gross leaks in the system and he said no after sitting monitoring his gauge for 20 minutes at $90 per hr. The tech said it must have been a very slow leak over time. He also put in a dye to see if there was a leak and was going to come back in a couple of days. The AC unit lasted 4 days and we had to make several calls and eventually Jerry the Sales Manager sent out another tech. Second tech came out and heard a large leak in my A coil and informed me that the unit was shot. He was surprised that the first tech did not hear or check in the box for the leak. Chris, second tech, called the shop to get me a price on a new AC unit, gave me a quote and no break in the price even though I just paid them a couple days ago for doing a poor job. After talking to several other HVAC contractors there were other things they could have done to spare me the great expense the first time. I called Jerry the Sales Manager to discuss the situation and after a few minutes he started yelling at me the customer. Amazing that a Sales Manager yells at customers and is still in business. I recommend that you find another HVAC company and there are plenty of good ones out there. read more

Don't make the same mistake I did, hire someone else whatever you do!!! Their technician was either lazy or incompetent. I hired them to fix my oven which wasn't heating. I told them I had replaced the heating element, but that the oven still wasn't working. The technician opened it up, and without testing anything, said that the relay board was shorted and it would cost over $800 to repair. He recommended throwing the stove away. I decided to fix it myself because I didn't agree with his diagnosis. It ended up being the very first thing I tried, a thermal fuse, which was a $19 part. They insisted that their technician was not wrong and hung up on me which was very unprofessional and rude. read more

They were able to squeeze in a service call during a very busy time, but when the time came to quote out a new AC unit, we thanked the sales rep (Jerry, the COO) and told him we would let him know. He got very upset with us and said "You are going to shop this? My guy said you wanted it done tomorrow. If I had known that I would have taken my other 5 appointments instead". please beware of this company!! you will only regret it..they are quick to come by and get you to sign a contract (take your money) and after that, you are at their mercy when the installation of the new furnace don't work on their first attempt. they will make appointment and don't show up, not even a phone call! the owner mike try to save you on the taxes by having one of his employee write the contract and ask to make the check out in their name as well! something the irs should look into! they have no remorse and no shame in what their doing..mike the owner was supposed to install a 90,000 btu furnace and instead he installed a 60,000!!! an installation that should have taken a day keep going into a week.. because they cannot pin point the issue. because it was always not the right thermostat! two different thermostat i had to buy because that was as far as their knowledge goes! and your begging and pleading and they don't make any effort..finally i had to call someone else and they got the furnace running within three hours! they had to re-run all the pipes that drain into the condensation pump!! so please don't give these assholes any more business or else you will find yourself in this same situation and i will end this with "have a blessed day" at least that's what that asshole voice message recording says!! read more

We have been using this company for over a decade, and always with good results. Unfortunately, that ended today. A to Z has proven to be a fair weather company - all is fine when things go well, but they lack integrity when the going gets tough. We had a furnace installed that took three separate visits to correct. The installers had to cut out all the PVC THREE times to get it right, and there was a leak they had to come back to fix. In addition, they ruined our flooring by spilling purple primer in multiple places. We asked for a reduced bill in the amount it would take to replace the floor only, and they threatened to take us to court if we didn't pay them. They finally agreed to knock a little off the bill but damage done. Not only will we never work with this company again, we will make sure that everyone knows this company doesn't take care of their customers or compensate for damage they cause. read more
