I have been taking my car & van to A-1 Auto for maintenance (oil changes, etc.) for many years. The best indicator of a good auto shop is loyal customers. The only reason I ever take it elsewhere is to the dealer for a 2nd opinion on something major that could be covered by the warranty or that might require special expertise for the model. These people are terrible!!! They blew my motor on my Toyota Corolla changing the timing chain.. they won't warranty it at all.. they want me to pay 600$ for there mess up. An had horrible customer service. I would never recommended going there EVER!! Mechanics suck! read more

I have been going here for 8 years. My cars run beautifully and I owe it to Tony and his crew. I recommended this place to my dad which I would never do unless I thought they were the best. He thought they were great! They always go over costs in detail and share whether it's an absolute must do or it can wait. They know I operate on a budget so some repairs that are not necessary must wait. I like to keep my cars for years because I hate car payments and I know at A-1 I have no worries. ****UPDATE#2**** The original problem is back Anyone that would take there car here is a idiot!! I leaned from my mistake, dont make the same.They should not be in business. I will be repairing there work my self as they can not be trusted to fix a flat tire. 100% the worst shop on the planet. *****UPDATE***** new issue found with these horrible mechanics. While trouble shooting 02 sensor issue I found a pinched wire between the trany and block causing the engine light to come on for failed 02 sensor. Just horrible work, they should ****NOT BE IN BUSINESS**** If I had a option for zero stars I would have. They replaced a throw out bearing and clutch in my 2005 mustang GT. I had to take it back and have it redone because they said a rock got in there, which the rock is about twice the size of the inspection hole. they were going to charge me the original price but after I threatened a lawyer we settled on labor costs. I got the car back and had blown fuses and a bad 02 sensor down by transmission, which after searching forums found that this happens when replacing a transmission and pinching wires. When I got under the car to fix what they had messed up I noticed missing bolts on the inspection plate which was making noise from the vibration. I am scared to take my car on long drives because who knows what else they forgot or messed up on the pressure plate and clutch when they replaced it. A word of warning DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!! Waited another 15 minutes ...still no one there. So how am I supposed to trust a business that can't even get the doors open on time? read more

I've never yelped before, but these guys really earned all the praise I can give. I had taken my car into the dealership for its 100,000 maintenance. They did some stuff and said some other stuff needed to be done. So, I went to a shop near my house yesterday to get the other stuff done and the shop told me that not only was the dealership gravely mistaken, but my motor mount was broken (this growling noise I'd always heard) and it was to the point where it was seriously dangerous. I was there for three hours, but it was kind of incredible. Dale and Mark were handling all of these other customers, but they kept dealing with my car. It was a weird mount that was only available in Sacramento, so Dale was calling all over the place for a part, getting a picture of it faxed to try to figure out what was going on and what could be done, all the while the phone is ringing nonstop and people just keep coming in. They were so nice to me and just very approachable. They got it fixed and the car sounds and feels like it NEVER has before. I want to drive it now just to hear my "brand new" car. I plan to call their boss tomorrow and tell him exactly how incredible it was. I had been to countless mechanics over the years about that noise and was told all different things and that it was perfectly safe. These guys knew something was really wrong right away. They popped out my mount, showed it to me, and said "hey, this is dangerous." Then they moved mountains to get it handled... and for a really affordable price. I've never had such an incredible experience with an auto shop (or maybe anywhere in customer service). It's an especially big deal for a woman who is a little intimidated by that kind of thing. Tony has great costumer service and wants to make you happy with not making you pay an arm and leg, he even gave my daughter and I a ride home and back so I didn't have to walk in the rain 2 miles and back with a 2 year old! Definitely take your car to him well priced and great people! read more

I admit that there are great reviews for this company and I truly believe that they're authentic. I also understand that mechanics work very hard and do their best to make sure that the customer's vehicle is up to par. Tony Was Terrible! Lack of communication and uncaring for the issues my wife and I brought to his attention about our recent visit. 2 months later and we're still waiting on that phone call that he promised, or at least he said he wrote in his memo, to return within the next few minutes. Tony or whichever mechanic broke the pull latch for the hood and never addressed it to us. Also, there was duct tape and a small cloth around the battery area that wasn't addressed, either. Still waiting on a return phone call for that, as well. The price was reasonable I must add, but I never thought that the service and communication would be so terrible. Pathetic customer service. Always try to change you more. New desk person is not at all helpful. I was regular customer, slowly I have discovered that I was being charged more and for not required things. Recently I tried servicing my Honda Odyssey, he suggested with regular service flush out coolant. And he quoted 140+, then I refused and took my car to Nearby Honda service center they said no need to change coolant, it is all good. They serviced my car just for free as new customer. I recommend please visit your respective authorized service station . Don't fall pray to local service centers like A1 auto. read more

Eric and Tony are AMAZING! My daughter was driving home from school and her front axle broke in half. We had the car towed to A1 Auto Service Center to get a quote on how much it would be to fix it. Due to the axle breaking, other damage was incurred and the repairs were going to be more than we wanted to pay on this old car. We decided to scrap it and called a company to come pick it up but they were unable to get a tow truck out there for a week. Eric and Tony said it was fine for us to leave the car there until it could be picked up by the scrap company. They saved us from another towing bill, and also didn't charge us a dime for looking at the car to see if it was worth being fixed! Eric and Tony are the best, and I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone who is looking for car repair. read more

Poor communication and failure to keep appointment. Used A1 Auto Service Center primarily for oil changes of my 98 Honda Accord for several years between 2007-2011 when their lead technician was Ryan. Ryan left several years ago and since he left wait time for an oil change after making an appointment far exceeds 2-hours. Also, don't bother making an appointment anymore. I made an appointment last week for an alignment today. I call to confirm the appointment and the technician tells me they can't get my 2010 Subaru Outback in until Saturday because it would be physically impossible. They did confirm I had an appointment and did not apology for failure to keep this appointment. I will no longer be using A1 Auto Service Center for any services for my vehicles or recommend them to friends or family because of their lack of commitment in keeping appointments and extended wait times for service. If you like long wait times and failure to keep appointments this is the place for you. read more

A1 auto center use to be the place to fix my rigs. No longer...poor custmer service misrepresentation of estimates given....was given an esyimate over the phone of $3600 asked for a faxed estimate....he sends me one for $4100 and $5200 when i questioned the added charges ... i was told he mis calculated . Then i get a cashier chk from the bank for $4100 n the cost was $3800 I questioned the charge for diagnostic and why it was not waived and was told oh well their was other fees i was not charged for so I shouldn't complain....well if u did the wk write it down....if u tell a customer a diagnostic fee will be waved then do it. That did not happen....Paid with a cashier chk and was told my change would be mailed to me!! WTF ...this place is do run down....take my advice and take your business some where else! No wonder all the old employees left.. Not to mention I saw a bottle of honey sitting on a wk staton in the repair shop What is that used for? Telling the customer they have sticky valves? This place is awesome! The starter on my husbands honda went out on Sunday night. We dropped the car off at the shop and left the keys on the box. They called us the next morning and let us know that it would be done that day and quoted us way less then anywhere else in town. When we went to pick it up there was no surprises and everything worked great. This is the 3rd time we have used them on our cars and will continue to do so. read more

Less then 1 star. Super upset about choosing this place to take my truck. Brought it in with a ton of problems, they kept my truck for 5 days, said they ran a head gasket test, I had yellow sludge in my oil. There answer was your truck is fine it just needs an oil change. $300 later I have to take it somewhere else where a cracked head gasket WAS found, as well as gas leaking into my oil. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a female so they completely just raped me out of $300, or if it truly is they have no clue how to work on cars. Please heed my warning and do NOT choose this place for auto repair. read more

Based on recent reviews these guys know how to do their job. My only complain was the amount of grease stains on my seat from one of the mechanics clothing, plus the sticky greasy feeling on the steering wheel and shift knob. Looks like stains are not coming off easily. read more

Came here to get the car inspected and brakes done because we found a special online. It would normally be too far to go. They found the axle needed to be replaced- not immediately, but since we have a long trip coming up decided to do it. Paid more than we had hoped since we had to replace an extra part, but the pricing was still fair so in the end we most likely saved money. They seemed to be honest and upfront about everything, and Gary's customer service was great- he was very friendly, helpful, and patient (even though we and a few others were there past closing time, there was no rush on us to make a decision or push anyone outside). They also showed us the part they replaced and pointed out where it had been damaged and explained the problems with the damage on it. read more

Came in here to get our hose fixed, made an appointment and left the car at 8am. Didn't pick up till 4:30pm and it was apparent that they hadn't started to work on the car until the last hour or so, even though we made an appointment for that morning. We had to wait another hour for then to finish and noticed that the person working on our vehicle was just trying to finish the job so they could go home - not giving our vehicle the proper time or attention it needed. When they were finally done, we immediately noticed that the car was shaking when at a complete stop and the car struggled to shift to the next gear - a problem our vehicle had not had before. AND they test drove it (supposedly) before handing it back to us, admitting that it shook a little but nothing to worry about. We had to drop off the car again after the weekend bc it was a Friday when this happened. What had happened was that they forgot to tighten back the motor mount which was why our vehicle was so shaky - which then caused it to crack. Had to have my car all weekend as it shook uncontrollably. A mistake that could have been avoided in which they never took responsibility for. Won't be back as I don't trust this company, they are not upfront about their mistakes and never apologized for their mistake. read more

I was also so impressed with the outstanding job they did on my mercury mountaineer. My first bad experience yesterday with A1. My son's car failed the emission test in the past due to a faulty catalytic convertor. He requested a replacement and to be fixed. A1 offered a $150 "fix" to fulfill waiver requirements. He wants the car fixed and willing to pay. Why are they insisting on the $150 diagnostic fee when he already knows it's the convertor? Maybe it's the guys at the service desk want to perform unnecessary work? Never had this problem before when the same thing happened with my daughter's car. He's having the work done elsewhere. read more

Horrible place to go!!! They took my car and charged me a $88 diagnostic fee and told me it was the fuel pump and fuel filter. They were supposed to have it ready and I show up and it is not. They did this to me twice without calling me to tell me it wouldn't be ready. Finally, after they had my car for about a month and a half I get my car back. Upon getting my car back I take it to the gas station and realize that they car is leaking gas, which is incredibly dangerous. At this point I have lost all faith in this company. I feel like they wasted my time and robbed me of over 800 dollars. DONT GO HERE unless you want your car to be in the shop for over a month. Also, they gave me this unreliable piece of crap spare car that broke down on my on the freeway at 11 pm. read more

I have used this location since I bought my car 18 months ago. Finally had to leave because they have made way to many mistakes and I am starting to wonder if they were cam gong my oil at all. One time I had a tire issue and asked them and paid to have them rotate my tires- tires where it roared but I sure was charged- only reason I ever knew is because the tire with the issue was still in the same place. I was furious but gave them a chance to Make it right and they offer free tire rotation. When I car needed it's 50k mile service I asked them to write me an estimate. The whole thing was bogus!!! They wanted to flush my transfer case...I don't even have a transfer case as my car is front wheel drive. Thank god I looked into this further because they would have just taken my money I am sure! Back to the Chevy dealer so much safer then risking wasting money and not getting service at this location read more

Do not go to this place if they damage your car with poor workmanship they will not admit their mistake and will treat you like a lying criminal. i took my jetta in for a timing belt drove it for 2 months and while driving on a rough road i hit a pothole and the entire engine dropped 4 inches on the left side called them for help they did nothing left me stranded in Bellingham, luckily found a mech and he found all 3 motor mount bolts had not been tightened and fell out. Took it back to a-1 they called me a liar and would do nothing untill the talked to the mech that fixed it then they barely believed him. they finally agreed to fix it while still treating me like a criminal. I will never go there again and suggest you dont either. read more

Took my vehicle in for an oil change. Had the list A1 recommended for next repaires taken to a second opinion inspection. The second mechanic found the oil over filled and new seals blown because of it. Took the vehicle in to see about trade in. The dealer confirmed the oil was over filled and I ended up having to donate my car when I wanted to maintain it and get it all new parts including an engine in the future. Sad to see a good vehicle go because of incompetent work that I paid money for! One parking spot = one car read more

Really disappointed. My husband went in on Monday to get a quote for a tuneup and a new muffler system. The gentleman that he spoke with was very knowledgeable and actually had the same truck as my husband. My husband was very satisfied, and made an appointment for the following Wednesday at 8:00 AM. When he got there the guy he had spoken with on Monday was not there, nobody knew what kind of work was supposed to be done, nothing was written down, they kept giving him different quotes, nothing like what my husband had been told on Monday. The guy he spoke with on Monday will be in this afternoon and is supposed to call but what a dissapointment, especially with all these good ratings, and what a waste of time driving in there and back for nothing. I got what I paid for...I I took a car I was considering purchasing to A1. They were the lowest priced in the area. A1 was attentive, and was finished with my inspection on time, however they checked only superficial features (lights, windows, etc). There was no remarks about the mechanical condition (CV boots, transmission, fluids, undercarriage etc). Perhaps I should have asked what exactly they perform, as I likely got what I paid for - I was hoping for a more complete analysis. Polite, timely but likely won't return. read more

First time at A1 and.....Took a little longer than normal because they were adding FREE diagnosis for me because I've had so many issues with this van over time and cause I was kind of broke, even after I got a little frustrated because of my child getting fussy these guys treated me like a King and showed me what awesome service is all about! I got my Van Fixed with the first try, so there was no need to do the other things that would also address my vans symptoms saving me $, after thanking the actual guy that worked on it who did an amazing and thorough job saving me tons of $ above the guy that was screwing me before on every little thing I went to pay and guess what? It was Discounted!! I paid Less than what I was quoted!!! Not to mention I over heard them offering folks Payment plans! on their bills!!! ?// who does that nobody I thought, he even told one guy that even if he dint qualify for the payments he would work with him regardless! who does that? PLEASE LISTEN TO MY ADVICE!!! I had just taken my 2007 pontiac G6 to a1 auto service beacause i read the review on this website and decided to go. my original estimate was low and they seemed really confidant on the diagnosis and i trusted them. the outcome was the complete opposite!!!! i couldn't believe that a simple thermostat and engine coolant replacement for $200 turned into a $1000 in repairs. with them jerking me around telling me one thing and then having to replace the alternator, battery, and fuse. After all that stress and paying for it i get into my car to have the dashboard DEAD with no power. i tell them and they go on to tell me they had NOTHING to do with that. i am so glad i had someone with me to witness their complete lack of wanting to help fix the problem they have caused. my friend had to stand up for me because i was in complete and utter shock of the situation. So i would have to say anyone looking for a good reliable mechanic to go somewhere else. NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE AND STRESS!!! read more
