My partner took his car in to have his muffler inspected. The manager (Tracy) looked at the car and advised him that the muffler needed replaced. He provided a verbal quote, but when my partner asked for a printed estimate, Tracy told him no, that he can go somewhere else, and then proceeded to force him to remove his own car from the lift they used to do the inspection. My partner is not from here, and English is not his native language. He asked for a printout because I am the one paying for the replacement and I was at work at the time. Providing a non-native person with a verbal quote for mechanical parts is only going to confuse him, and refusing to print an estimate because of such is close enough to discrimination that I'll be contacting the appropriate agency to report him. read more

Which, whatever, BUT they replaced his rusted muffler with an old muffler assuming he was out of town. Needed some bigger piping on my car for better flow as I noticed some leaks after getting a big turbo. I was excited to work with this shop as I was referred by a friend. Apparently they don't do any exhaust bending for "import" cars, even though there website says "all your muffler and performance needs" with no mention of this "import" restriction I was told of over the phone. Refused to work on my car without even looking at it. All I mentioned was just maybe some larger piping. The owner told me it was unnecessary. Even after I told him it got a bigger turbo and was leaking a bit. My VW beetle has a very similar exhaust setup to a GTI, but I didn't ask for a quote, I merely wanted it checked out to see if we could do something for it. I'm just confused they wouldn't even look at it? Update: Another shop was able to bend the piping with no issues. He gladly looked at it and did the job without question. I just don't understand why the owner of A1 was so stingy over the phone. Customer service rating 0/10! Go to Starbright Finishes in Oregon City instead! read more

If you need a catalytic converter you need to call A1 Muffler! I'm sure they do a great job on everything they work on. The catalytic converter was going out on our Prius. We only had to wait a couple of days for A1 Muffler to have an opening. The cc was changed out and a theft deterrent plate was installed. The price was so reasonable and significantly less than the Toyota dealership. 2 weeks later my catalytic converter was stolen when my car was parked in a lot! A1 came to the rescue. Turns out my car has more than one cc, but there's only one that thieves can get to. A1 fixed it the next day while I waited and, again, the cost was so reasonable! read more

Here's my story. Went to BMW of Portland they wanted $200 to just look at our 2013 BMW that had a rattling noise coming from the exhaust. They also said that BMW of USA does not cover noises (we stupidly paid $6000 for an extended warranty 3 years ago when we purchased vehicle with 33,000 miles-don't do it meaning buy extended warranty). So took vehicle to A1 found out it was a bolt the had sheared off. Also needed a $7.99 spring replaced which we could have bought on line but went back to BMW to get part they charged $30 for a $7.99 part tried saying couldn't buy the spring and bolt had to buy the whole assembly at $400 that did not need to be replaced. All I can say is A1 is honest and Fair. And BMW of Portland must be trying to make up for lose of income in 2020 due to COVID. read more
