I'm updating my review to 4.5 stars for the recent service I got. Vik, the manager called me and offered to clear things up and provide reassurance. He clarified that during my follow up appointment, he did in fact say that he would waive/ decrease the diagnosis fee since it was a follow up from the previous issue. He apologized for the confusion and offered to make it right. When asked, he stated that the replacement unit they would be using is a Denso compressor (high quality) which also came with a 2 year/ 24000 mile warranty. Vik also detailed that if the price quoted wasn't going to work out for me, he could call around for other parts or even an OEM. After accepting his offer for a Denso unit, he said that he recommends changing the receiver dryer filter which came with additional cost. I was taken by surprise but he said that if the compressor fails during the warranty, the first question the manufacturer asks is if they changed the receiver dryer filter. I think if it's important to have that changed at the same time, it should be disclosed to the customer to start. After scheduling and arriving to the appointment, they were able to get me in and out in the same day (7:30am - 5:30 pm) for both the compressor and receiver dryer filter. I was also able to get my system tested and fluids refilled. The shop was also able to check over my whole car for other issues and found that my engine coolant was leaking at the hose. They didn't mention this problem the last two times so either it just showed up or it wasn't checked. Overall, I'm happy to report that the car AC is actually freezing now and stays cold (at least since the last few days) and with the warranty stated on AAA's site/receipt, I'm confident in the repair. The customer service from the staff is very friendly but just had a miscommunication to start. Things I would ask during scheduling if I came back here to repair my car would be: what brand part are you using, does anything else need to be replaced at the same time, how long is the warranty? read more

Had an 8 am appt today to simply do a diagnostic check and get a code. Thats it. I am a AAA member. I was rudely told by the male front desk "help" that I would be charged upwards of $250 for the check which O'Riley Auto Parts did for FREE and without an attitude. This is how you get ripped off... I got a card in the mail from AAA for a free 40-point vehicle maintenance inspection. I didn't even know AAA has auto repair centers? However, I trust AAA and have been a member for quite sometime so I took my car in to be inspected at their Tully Road location. To make a long story short and after testing my car with lots of fancy diagnostic tools they told me I needed $3,924.07 in repairs including front and back brakes. Huh?! I asked what is "needed" rather than "recommended"? He quoted me around $2500. I politely told him I would go to my regular mechanic to take a look. I've been going to Tai/Tran at White Road Auto Service for decades and he has always been the most trustworthy person. Being a good old fashioned mechanic he looked under my car with a flashlight and deducted I needed my front brakes resurfaced. Then he checked under the hood and said I needed to top off my oil. Total cost $234.91. That's a difference of $3,680.16. Who do you think is going to be my forever mechanic? On a side note I gave 2 stars instead of one because the staff was very nice. read more

Had a very bad experience recently at this shop. Oil change on my car was done a few weeks back, but the level was left at an extremely high point beyond the excess limit which is at a higher point than the maximum allowed on a dip stick. It was noticed by me the next day as I was more concerned about the low levels. However, this turned out to be on the other extreme and I thought that the mechanic would have known better. It turned out to be a huge mistake, and it started stressing the engine over the course of next few weeks. It did not show up when I was driving short distances, but the day I drove a long distance, the Engine stalled due to issues caused by the excess oil. When I followed up with the Mgr Viks at the shop, he started lying about the levels and many other things including even the quantity the car can take. Fortunately, I have been taking some photos of levels and the quantity used. So when I confronted him with those numbers, he started lying even about the quantity the car can take as per his book which has a different number higher than what the manual and online documentation shows for the car. I told him that the dipstick check should have been done before delivering it to me which in this case has clearly not been done unless this was done intentionally. In the due course of time, it became clear to me that there is much more sinister going on than a simple mistake. I am sure many other customers would have faced such issues mostly due to the oil levels being low. The same shop had delivered the low level oil to me the last time they did the oil change. But I am glad I got it checked, and it could be easily corrected so this time they went the other extreme. Hence, it is important for everyone to check their oil levels after the oil change and I can share my knowledge on the same as I have been researching this issue thoroughly. I am preparing to take it to the highest level as needed for which I have also spoken to the Police about it. So if any of you had any kind of Engine issues developed within a few months of the oil change at any shop, and you would like to pursue the Case as much as possible for the benefit of everyone else, you may contact me. STAY AWAY THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND AND COVER IT UP Our key would not start our 2003 lexus. We have AAA and they sent a tow truck and they brought our car to this place AAAauto repair center per AAA recommendation. The manager there took our car and we told him what we believe to be wrong, he did a full diagnostic and charged us for it and came up with exactly what we told him was wrong. He called and said we had to make a decision right now not giving us time to research it we said fine first price 300.00 thats what we got quoted else where hen we looked deeper into it and found out we could order one a key fob with transpnder for under 100. just needed to install our key when we called repair back he said it was to late not even 24 hrs since we brought it there. Then he lied and said he had to reprogram key fob which we found out could of used the old one it was still good just casing cracked. all send n done 800. later 3 days car was done. we asked for old parts back he said he threw it away why wouldnt he show us the issue with old one he said he had a locksmith re key car that didnt need to be done and it wasnt be he harged us for it. this place is a crook and they lie and its against the law to not give our old parts back we now know old parts are in new key fob casing he didnt thriow them out it was never rekeyed either 100. job he charged us 800.00 he robbed us STAY AWAY WE ARE NOW TALKING TO BBB WISH I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS read more

Beware of overcharging and Poor Service I should have listened to the reviews. It was my first time trying triple A repair shop and it was a huge disappointment. As much as i know the manager was trying his best to help me, and for the other employees, they either just had a really poor explanation and transparency or they were just pulling numbers out their... I recently took my car to this shop, expecting a simple fix, but ended up with over $1,000 bill for a starter replacement and diagnostics that didn't even fix the issue. They charged me $250 just for diagnostics, which didn't lead to any actual solution, as my car still wouldn't start after the "repair." They then tried to charge me an additional $411 for "special diagnostics" to investigate potential wiring problems from the kill switch. They told me it would take 1.5 hours to find the problem, but when I did the math, it didn't add up--especially considering their rate was $190/hr. It seemed like an attempt to overcharge by dragging out the process with vague explanations. This is when i decided to bring my vehicle elsewhere. Overall, I felt completely taken advantage of, especially since they failed to properly diagnose the issue in the first place and tried to inflate the cost of any additional work. I would recommend looking for a more trustworthy mechanic who is transparent and upfront about pricing. read more

Vic at AAA San Jose Tully Auto Repair Center was AMAZING. Our 16 year old son had his first accident and when we brought the car in to the facility, our son arrived with the tow truck before my wife and I did, and Vic was so kind to him - first thing Vic asked him was if he was ok. Vic was transparent about everything related to the car repair too; he was proactively communicating with us from start to finish. He treated us with respect and went above and beyond to get the car repaired safely but as affordably as he could. Vic made this experience so much better than it could have been. If I could give negative stars I would. They took approximately two weeks to repair my clutch and never fixed it completely. I also had a window that wasn't working properly and they completely broke it and were not willing to take responsibility for it and in the end they overcharged me. read more

I had the worst experience and will not be going back. I recommended my Dad and friend and Aaa just lost 3 customers. My car was in the shop for 8 days with very little communication on status. I had to call daily as I was told each day, should be ready tomorrow. It was awful to have to call and try to plan to pick up my car. I finally just showed up and waited to get my car. They also broke my door handle and said they would order one. I waited a week, of course no call. I didn't mind the waiting for my car to finish, it was the no communication at all. I took my car in for diagnostics in September due to transmission issues and poor driving performance. A week later, I got my car back; they identified the problem but didn't communicate it to me. They performed a transmission flush, replaced the gasket and filter, and charged me $650. I was informed that the actual issue was with the motor mounts, specifically that the rear mounts needed replacement and possibly the front ones. I approved this repair for $425. After another week, I called to follow up, and Vic informed me that the car was done, but he hadn't replaced the rear mounts and didn't communicate any of the issues. I picked up my car on Friday, 10/4, drove it to the gym once (the problem still persisted) and to work, and then started hearing strange noises. I went back on Monday, 10/7, since I had never experienced that noise before. Now, they're telling me the wheel studs were loose, which caused damage to the wheel bearing. When I took Vic for a test drive, he even noted that my car wasn't making that noise before. Yet, they expect me to pay for repairs resulting from their negligence. This has been a really disappointing experience, and don't expect any communication if you bring your car in. read more

I'm a long time AAA member that was looking forward to this new repair center opening up. It appears nice on the outside, but it's business as usual on the inside. The up-sale was almost comical; had not paid out hundreds already. I give the service 2-10 for putting profit over quality, 1-10 for value (given the poor service). Disappointed that AAA is just like any other shady shop with a clean lobby. Their shop employees 'hanging' out in the lobby while customers are entering isn't a good look as well. I'll stick with their towing services and take my mechanic needs elsewhere. read more

Be very cautious; customer service offers no real help, and you won't receive any callbacks. The company isn't listed on the BBB, so any errors they make will be your responsibility. We got an appointment for our van to check for some screeching sound during start of the engine. After inspection we were told there is a oil leak and a photo was provided on the work order. It is strange that there was no drop of oil at our place on the ground before our first visit here. After the work order was completed we brought the van and found that there was still some brief screeching sound on first start for any day. We also noticed a big oil leak under the van after bringing back the van. We took the van to the center for the second time complaining about the issue and this time the sound issue was resolved. The service technician could not find the leak or did not understand the issue. Now we brought the van back home and still see the leak happening. Now we have a third appointment upcoming with the same AAA tully center. Lets see if the issue is resolved. Just to be clear and reemphasizing that there was no leak issue when we took van to the center for the first time. :-( read more

We were so glad when this shop opened close to home. Everything is run very professionally. Front desk service is courteous, thoughtful, and informative. They ask questions and take detailed notes.
