My 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid had dashboard warnings for LKAS/RDMS/CMS/ACC and cruise control would not work. Shop kindly did a diagnostic and advised problems required specialized expertise. Their communication was friendly, helpful, and they did not charge for diagnostic. I asked about doing all fluid changes with them, but they suggested getting the current (and expensive) issues fixed before scheduling any other work on the car. I will return to them in the future. They charge us for diagnostics on a Problem(s) we knew we had we almost used them for Radiator replacement but prices were so high and when we were about to still used them for the repair they would tell us we needed other things to complete the radiator replacement repair and it would go from 700 to 900 to 1200 Mind you we went there originally because I needed my ABS module replaced/fixed at the end they told us it's probably better to get the part from Chrysler and we ended up paying I think 125 or 135 if I can't remember exactly for a diagnostics on the radiator that was cracked that we already knew was cracked and the original repair we went to go get there didn't get done, but they did remove the light out of our dash using their computer, which we have one at home, which is how we knew exactly what was wrong with our vehicle. I'm sure they're a guy. I just personally would not use them or recommend. read more

It has been 3 years since i last visited Almaden Auto Repair (AAR). With a new car I purchased in 2021, the complimentary oil change and service finishing at the end of 2024, I decided to return to a trusted company who took care of me through three cars. As far as cost vs. service is concerned, I do think AAR is fair and competitive. I bought my tires at Costco and, yes, they do offer complimentary tire rotation. However, the last time I went in for a rotation, I spent 5 hours waiting for the job to be finished, in addition to waiting two weeks for an appointment. Here at AAR, I sent in a request 24 hours ago for a 9:30 time slot to change oil and tire rotation, and viola!, I was in! The quoted time for completion was 90 minutes to 2 hours, and it was done in 100 minutes. For the price, I believe this is a good deal. I went for an oil change at a local shop and they gave me a list of recommended repairs that they found during inspection, the quote seemed excessive. I made an appointment online to get my brake pads checked as they were making a loud screeching sound when braking. I waited about 15 minutes in the lobby and was told that my brake pads were fine and didn't need any replacing. They offered to keep the car for a day so they can have a better look, but I opted to come back another time since I needed my car to commute. This auto shop used to be my go to, but not anymore. I recently went there because of a low coolant issue with some air in the system. I dropped off my vehicle and left it overnight. The following morning I received a call from Trung stating that I had a number of issues with my vehicle (rear main seal leak, replace oil pan, replace radiator, replace coolant reservoir, coolant flush, replace coolant hoses, etc.) The total cost for the job was well over $6,000. This was a large bill that my wife and I discussed in detail. I decided to go back into the shop to get more clarification. Upon arrival, Thai, who I believe is the owner, fumbled around looking for my paperwork. He informed me that the quote that I received from Trung was for another vehicle similar to mine and that I needed a coolant flush, which was exactly what I had asked for in the first place. I paid for the coolant flush as well as the 75k maintenance package, which Thai recommended. The "work" was done the following day I picked up my car and drove home. While reviewing their paperwork at home, I noticed that I was charged for a new air and cabin filter. I recently replaced my own cabin filter so I had a hunch that they might not have done anything, so I checked their work. Lo and behold, it was the same exact filter I placed in. Also, I replaced my own air filter with a K&N recently as well. Most people know that K&N life time filters only need to be cleaned, not replaced. So being charged for service that didn't happen or need to happen is not right. I was not pleased about this and called them asking about the mistakes. Trung apologized and said he was going to refund me the amount for the parts. Rightfully so, I asked for the refund in labor costs as well since they did not do anything. Fortunately, I was able to obtain a refund. I went into the shop and talked to Thai about the the issues I had and asked for my refund. It took him some time but he eventually tallied up the numbers. I inquired and requested for a partial refund on the 75k maintenance cost and labor fees since the documents only indicated that an oil, and oil filter was changed. He stated that the technicians go through a list of tasks such as tire rotations, suspension adjustments, brake adjustments, etc. Again, I caught another inaccurate statement. My front driver side tire has a visible scratch, which I've been keenly aware of. I went to check my front tire and the scratch was still there in the same spot which means that the tires weren't rotated. Another example of being charged for service that didn't happen. This was a horrible experience. Lots of unnecessary stress and headache. I definitely will not be going back here again. My advice, double check their work. Do your due diligence. read more

I was overdue for an oil change and my usual place had increased their prices quite significantly so after some calls and research, I found Almaden Auto Repair. They were very reasonably priced and all of the good reviews were what swayed me to choose them even having found places with lower pricing. They allow you to book appointments online which is great! I came in a little before my scheduled time, you check in at the desk and they have you fill out a form indicating your cars mileage, etc. I was quoted 2 hours which on a busy Saturday is more or less what I expected. They are located very close to The Plant shopping center so there is a place to go to kill time but also do have seating in their office if you choose to wait on site. I got a call barely an hour after having dropped of my car telling me it was ready which was a really great surprise. They also recommend additional services your vehicle may need on your summary sheet which I always appreciate and now I know what I need to come back for.
