I used a website called smogcheck.com to pre-pay and book a Saturday morning appointment with Reliant Auto Care. The appointment and pre-pay process was very easy. Dropping off the car was easy. The shop is a close walk to stores like Target and Orchard Supply Hardware if you don't want to wait at the auto shop. The smog check was quick and they called right away when they were done. It looks divey but they're good, at least I can vouch for the smog check service. I arrived before they opened and was the first one. I guess it takes them 10-15 minutes to set up cuz I had to wait. But once they got my car in, it was very fast! The guy who helped me was nice enough. Very basic and to the point. The price was reasonable compared to places in the area I've been. Smog Check Network employs private auto shops to conduct STAR-certified smog checks. This shop is actually called Reliant Auto Repair. The booking experience was seamless. I got a quote instantly after messaging them on Yelp. Purchasing online is super easy with no surprises. If you order online, a smog check including certification costs $59.99 for year 2000+ vehicles, but with the coupon "yelpspecial" it came out to $43.25. Then if you pay through your bank using their secure Link connection, you get a $5 rebate. So total was $38.25. Way cheaper than other San Jose prices which were around $50-$60. I arrived at 9:45am on a Saturday morning and was out by 10:45am. There were several parking spots open. There are several auto shops so look for the one called Reliant. Customer service was ok. No frills. They look up your order number and phone number, then take your keys. You can wait in their office. The office was cold in late March so dress warm. After they were done, they transmitted the paperwork for my smog check results electronically and immediately. Then I got a receipt and copy of the paperwork. I'm used to going to shops that only do smog checks where cars are in and out quickly. Expect a slightly longer wait here since it's a full-service auto shop and they have other services in the queue. Also avoid the weekend if you want a quicker service. But overall, great price, no issues, so I highly recommend! read more

Awesome experience going to Reliant Auto Repair. Singh was pleasant to deal with. I felt he was genuine and not out to get your money. I had an issue with coolant and made the call to Reliant. Singh first tried to help me figure the problem out prior to bringing in my van. When it was determined that the issue was not minor or non existent, I brought the vehicle in straight away. As the name suggests first we thought it's reliant, however it t is anything but! I really mean it when I say they nickle dime in charging for small small things. They broke my light and they are now charging me to fix it even after admitting their fault. They also charged me for a lot of oil and tire services and failed to generate simple info like tire tread left and break pads life left, as well as oil life! Got a smog check for $42 (with coupon on website). I called first and someone always picked up. I showed up at noon on Friday and I only waited 5 minutes. You park in a parking space, give them the keys and they pull up your car to the bay. Then I waited 15 minutes and they were done and pulled up my car for me. I only took off a star because when I showed the person the coupon for the smog he asked if I needed the discount. Uhm, I'm not sure why you'd put a coupon on your website if you don't really want people to redeem it? Anyway, their price is very competitive. Even without the coupon, it being $50. My Dad went somewhere else the year before and the guy charged him $75! Highway robbery. So next time my Dad is going to Reliant Auto. Quick service and would come here again (as long as they aren't funny if they still have the coupon available and I try to use it). read more

Let me ;make it easy for you to understand since you still don't know how to run a business. I dropped my car off at 8am, second person there. You said it would take 2.5 hours. I came back at 10:30am to find that you hadn't started on my car and hadn't even put a tag on my keys. It was still sitting in front of your computer. At that point, you realized YOUR mistake, and started work. It took one hour from there, because you had two guys work on it. Again, YOUR mistake. Your sign clearly says $150/hr for labor. Does NOT say $150/hr per technician. Which is something you just made up on the spot so stop justifying. Stop blaming and cheating customers for YOUR mistakes. Why should I pay for your mistake? On top of that, you were absolutely rude. Fine, you cheated me out of $225, good for you. Won't be back and neither will anyone I know. That must be good for your business. read more

Wouldn't come back for any type of service. I came in and asked for a few services and was told my time estimate would be 1.5 hours. I called to get a status update at the 3 hour mark and was told that they just lifted the car for inspection. They told me the price estimate of each service and I decided I didn't want 1 out of the 3 services I asked for. When I told the man that he stated "why not? you don't have enough money?". I was appalled by the uncalled for comment and lack of customer service. Brought my 2018 BMW X1 for a rattling noise on the AC blower assembly. Qouted me almost $600 for parts and labor. I didn't go ahead and have them do the job coz that time i don't have the money. Which was a good thing coz when i broughty my car to another shop they found out it was only a leaf that got inside the motor housing thats making the noise. The shop only charge me $ 75 for labor. I wish Reliant should be more honest. They know most of the problem like mine is theres a foreign object in the motor housing. The shop owner didn't even explain to me what are the posibilities. I was very disappointed; I used to go there for an oil change only, but this time I went for a major problem: replacing the front wheel hub. First, they charge me more than double for the spare parts. Second, they charge $150 per hour for labor ( 4 hours labor for replacing the wheel hub!!!!) while other shops charge $75 per hour. After charging me $1121, they didn't do their job right, and another issue arose because of them. I think that auto shop should stick only to oil changes. read more

Mr Singh and his staff were very nice and professional. This place has many patrons and I talked to several of them and they told me that they give good service and they're honest. I came here because my vehicle failed twice for Smog test and I already anticipated that it will probably need some repairs ( maybe Oxygen sensors or whatever). First I talked to one of the mechanic about my issue and he pointed to me that I need to talk to Mr. Singh at the front office. And so I went....I told Mr. Singh about my issue and handed him my paper work from CA DMV re: Smog and also the result from my last smog test. They took care of it and said that my SUV passed the Smog test!!! No repairs needed!!! Yay!! I didn't even need an appointment !!!
