I had a car battery replace in December 2022. In the last week, I had to jump my car a few times and called AAA to see if they could check it out, and Mark said to just drop it off in the morning and he'd get it looked at. Turns out a new battery was needed and since I was still under 3 years (barely!) it was replaced. Passport: I had to get a photo for my Canadian passport. The fellow at the passport desk had me stand and click for a photo. I saw him on the machine doing something. He then showed it to me, it was wrong. Canada has its passport information posted on their site and clearly shows the size/dimension and what needs to be in and on the back of the picture. I told the guy and he adamantly disagreed. He said our machine is set to Can. PP standards. With that I sent in my renewal fee with that picture. A few weeks later I got a call saying the picture is wrong. I must send another with the required information on the back. I went back to the Ballantyne location and thankfully a gal was there. She took it and it came out perfect, it was the size it should be. No adjustments. She stamped the back with the location info, her name, etc. My advice... go elsewhere if you see that small fellow in front of the computer at the PP desk. Membership renewal: Another day I went in to renew my AAA membership. I've been a member for 48 yrs. I had to change my address due to a move. Received my new card in the mail with the correct acct number. A few weeks later I received mail with another card to my current address. It had my previous married last name with a different acct number? I've been divorced for 17 yrs. I took the card into the Ballantyne office and asked... why this? The fellow looked around on the computer and couldn't figure it out. I asked him to cancel that membership, said he did. Someone had to go back in the AAA history to find that info., then take the time to create a new card and have it sent out. read more

The woman on the phone was extremely rude when I called to ask about insurance and misspoke about the type I wanted.

We had a flat tire and had it towed to this location. They asked me when the tires were bought and directed me to go back to the dealer - thankfully we had the tires replaced within the last year and half and they were still under 2 year warranty. So even though we paid $112 to tow the vehicle from home to this location and then to Hendrick Acura, we still saved money and time on the tire replacement as this location did not have these specific tires in stock and would have had to order them. Two lessons learnt - one to get tires replaced at Costco rather the dealership as they cover the tires for 5 years. More importantly, to pay the extra $30 for the AAA plus or $60 extra for the premier membership which will cover towing up to 100 miles vs the basic which covers only 5 miles to AAA service place or 3 miles if it is being towed to any other place! Any mileage over this is charged at $7 per mile, thankfully we did not get towed from a remote location!! read more

I have gone here two times. Never again. The first time it took them 3 days to get my car back to me. Something the dealership told me would take 1 day. Then after the work was finally completed, I had to bring it back 2 days later because the issue wasn't fixed. The second time I brought my car in was for a simple state inspection. I was told it would be "a couple of hours" so I left the car with them. After 3 hours had passed with no phone call, I called them to check on the car. Again, this was just a state inspection I needed. The guy said, "sorry, we haven't started it yet. We'll get it done by the end of the day". It's that time of the year again when I need to start bringing my cars in for their inspection. The AAA Car Care Center in Ballantyne got it done. I did not have an appointment and that was not a problem on this particular morning. They were able to get my car started and the service manager said that he'd give me a call when it was ready. I headed over for breakfast. An hour later, my car was nearly ready. Inspection done, oil change done, but they wanted to know if it was okay to charge an additional $30 to repair a nail in one of my tires. Yes, please. A half hour later, I was ready to roll. I used the travel service to book a cruise and the service I received was very poor. The agent often did not return calls or emails on a timely basis. We asked about flights and hotels for a few nights before and after the cruise and all we received was maybe here are a few hotels. When it came to flights , the answer was I looked at AA's website and the price is around $$$. The cruise line offers air fare but our rep never suggested that. When I complained about the poor service I was told about how busy they were. At one point, after I reached out on Facebook, a manager called me and said the agent's manager was off that day but would call me to discuss. I never heard from him. I've been a loyal customer for this AAA location for many years. I currently have 3 automobiles which I have had serviced for oil changes since I moved here from Illinois. Last Friday I called to inquire about having one tail light bulb replaced. I was told to just come in on Monday and they would look at it immediately since it shouldn't take that long to replace. Upon arrival on Monday at approximately 11:00 am (which was the suggested time given to me on Friday) I was told that I would need to leave the car and they would get to it as soon as possible. When hearing this I mentioned was was told to me about looking at it immediately and I was told that they where 3 techs short. REALLY,how long would it take to change one bulb?? If I wasn't 75 years old I would have done it myself, something I normally have done for years. I swear I will never do business with this location and hopefully management will consider hiring individuals who have more empathy for seniors!! I have been a member of AAA for over 25 years dating back to 1996. I decided to try the AAA car care service center in Ballantyne. We moved from across town, and I needed a new car care establishment for repairs. I took my car there several times. Nice people, Warren, Orlando and others but it seemed I was spending quite a bit to have my 2 cars worked on. Regular maintenance turned into, you need this and that. Recently after a state inspection I was told I need a new battery. It was only 18 months old and still under warranty from Firestone. I opted to go to Firestone Arboretum, where I have been taking my cars for over 20 years and exercise my warranty coverage, "if needed". AAA told me the battery needed to be replaced, the sooner the better. Firestone ran a test and showed me the testing results, battery tested at 92% effective and based on that there was no need for a new battery. Even though it seems the guys at AAA and are nice bunch, be careful. May be that one of these car care businesses needs their equipment recalibrated. I am sure I don't want to be spending money needlessly. read more

I don't know much about cars but I know there was something wrong with my brakes and the engine was making a weird noise that my car has never made. They told me they would keep my car and send me over the diagnostics report the next morning to see what was going on. After having my car for almost 24 hours, I finally called to see if there were any updates, and the person on the phone said they had driven my car around for an hour trying to figure out what was wrong with my brakes and engine and couldn't find anything. They said it all was normal....if I didn't call, were they just going to keep my car forever?!? Also, I know there's something wrong with the brakes...they're squeaky and feel like they are touching the ground when I go into a turn. Went back recently to get my daughter's Jeep inspected on a Saturday... I called before going and they said it would be an hour wait... However, when I got there, they said it would be 2 plus hours. So, I ended up leaving it. Good thing i did because I dropped it off by 10 am & they didn't have it ready until 4 pm... Wow, just for a state inspection & oil change?! My son has his car towed here after it sputtered and died after filling the gas tank. He was charged almost $900 for new spark plugs, fuel filter service and an oil change. This included $120 for a bolt they broke. He drove back to his home town, went to fill the tank and had the exact same problem. A minimal amount of research indicated that in a VW jetta, this is a problem with the N80 cannister purge valve. Ordered and replaced this part ourselves as well as the gas cap for good measure for under $200...problem solved. Contacted AAA Ballytyne to see if he could get some small refund to at least cover the parts since they obviously misdiagnosed the issue ...no response. Today, I arrived at AAA about 15 minutes before it opened. I was their first customer for the day. I explained that I believed I needed rear brakes due to the noise I was hearing from the rear wheels. I was quoted two prices. If I needed just brake pads it would be around $189.00 but if I needed rotors it would be about $380.00. I left the car and around 1:15 pm, AAA called and said the price would be $711.00 because the front brake pads and rotors were totally shot. The rear brakes needed brake pads but they could resurface the rear rotors. They also recommended changing the brake fluid because it looked dirty for an additional charge. I picked up my car and drove to an auto shop someone had recommended. I arrived there around 1:40 pm and left the car there. Around 2:16 pm, I received a telephone call from the new shop. They told me I needed front and rear pads but the rotors were fine. They would resurfaced all the rotors, install all new brake pads and change the brake fluid for $411.00. The car will be ready for pickup around 5:30 pm. read more

They made me feel very welcome and worked me into their schedule and fixed the issue 50% of the cost of the other quotes. When I get back to my hometown, I will switch from my dealership to AAA. This place is top notch. We've taken both of our cars here for many reasons and have received great service every time. They do stay busy, so it's best to make an appointment or have the flexibility to drop it off. They do have a courtesy car to drop you off if you need it. The team at AAA has been great to work with on my 91 Miata. Jamel is very friendly and has helped with scheduling and quoting work that needs to be done. They are never pushy when it comes to service needs. Instead they work with me on a priority list to keep the old girl on the road. They have also made suggestions that have saved me lots of money. It also helps that that have a tech on staff with lots of NA Miata knowledge and experience. The only reason I can not give a 5 is due to some work my wife had on her car. I needed new struts on my Yukon which the dealership told me would take months to get in stock. JC spent a whole morning finding the parts for me and getting them shipped to the Ballantyne location so that they could install them. A few months later, I needed a new brake light installed. The dealership was charging $900 for one. I called AAA right away, and they recommended I purchase two myself online at that price and bring them in to have them installed. JC made sure the install happened as soon as I received the lights. He had the car out in two hours. Everyone at this location has been great, and they have saved me so much time, money and frustration. read more

Well they wouldn't/couldn't for numerous reasons that changed depending on who or which conversation while trying to get it done. We have AAA, and will use another shop. The people dealt with were rude, unprofessional, and clearly were trying hard for upcharges. I have read the bad reviews on our Nextdoor app, and should have listened to all the complaints. Currently my commute is pretty long to work on daily basis which mean I put on more miles and my car needs oil change faster. So I recently called here to see if I need to make an appointment and they told me to just come in and they would take care of it. I came here within few mins and they able to finish up my paper work pretty quickly. As I waited in the waiting room, I think it took them lot longer to get my car inside. Anyways, they were able to finish up the oil change in far about of time but there were couple of things which stood out for me and that's the reason I would not want to come back here. The service rep who worked on my car, left the car in middle of the parking lot. When I walked out, people were having hard time getting around my car and I think one lady was waiting for my car to she can pull her car out. The other thing was that they didn't close the cover underneath my car properly when they changed the oil. I noticed it when on my way home, I started hearing wired noise from the tire. I pulled over and noticed that the full cover is kind of hanging and that's what been making noise. I was so upset, I try to push it as much as I can but I can't believe they would cut corners like that. I would think the service rep must be too lazy to put few screws on the cover to close it properly and park the car in parking spot rather than leaving it out in the middle. Went here to TRY to pick up a reserved Hertz Rental Car from their travel center on April 2. The car was reserved for pick up with a gold membership. The man who waited on us was a wet rag at best (Matthew?) he was not memorable enough to remember? We arrived at 3p with a reservation pickup time of 2:30. Should have been able to get in the car and drive away. Guy says car isn't there....chirp, chirp. When will it be here? The guy still has to pick it up from the airport...chirp, chirp. How long will that be? Is he on his way? Guy fumbles with his phone, call the transporter, and mumbles, ok, ok, I understand. He hasn't left the southpark area yet...chirp, chirp. That will be another hour and a half! Uh, chirp (while mentally straining to calculate time) maybe only hour, hour fifteen. Chirp, chirp Ok, well what can you do for us? Chirp, chirp...uh, nothing. We walked out the door and call Hertz's 800 number. Drove over to Independence....not convenient but picked up a car no prob. This guy is either incompetent or didn't care. Not sure which is more infuriating. (Chirps are the crickets...had to pry information out because he sure couldn't help!) read more

From 1/3/2012: Had them change out a dead battery - they did not tighten the connections properly and the cables worked themselves loose - left me stranded two days later. A co-worker took her car in to have a headlight bulb replaced - They forgot to re-attach the headlight housing. Both screws were left off and in the metal surround of the strut/shock tower. Avoid this place, they don't seem to care to do things right. UPDATE: Had them do an oil change (they are right across from where I work, and what could they possibly mess up on an oil change...). Well, they did it again - I had to jump a friends vehicle two days later, open up my hood - They forgot to re-install the oil cap on the engine - there is oil everywhere. They are forgot to reconnect the exhaust gas recirculation hose that is connected to the air intake. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! A trained horde of monkeys will do a better job than these clowns. read more

Horrible experience. Went for just and oil change since I am a member I was told it would $25. I also had a coupon for $20 off oil change. They charged me $39.99 regular price and after coupon total came to $25.03, this made no sense at all. After leaving my car there they called and told me I needed a transmission exchange and possibly timing belt. I called my regular mechanic he said no he had done both of these recently.
