Got tires from here a couple years ago. Guys did a good job. Called them about installing leveling spacers on coil springs. They quoted me an outrageous price at 950 dollar. Called two other shops, one was 180 dollars installed and the other one was 200 installed. Recently had a tpms sensor go bad and called them because there the ones who installed my tires. Again, quoted me 250 dollars. I told them to cancel my appointment because that was too expensive and the guy had an attitude about it. He explained that they had to program it to my truck and I asked him if they were the only shop that did this. He said no and I said my point exactly. Went to another shop and got it taken care of for 85 dollars. Moral of the story, this place is an overpriced joke and if you don't like your money then go to them and waste it. Other then that go somewhere else where the employees don't give you lip. read more

Rip off! DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I took my car here for about a year until I finally realized I was being ripped off. To make a long story short they told me I needed new front breaks I got them done they charged me $272, after a few months a family friend who has his own auto repair shop and opened one up close by, in Santa Rosa took a look at it for me and told me the breaks that according to Mcleas were brand new were actually used and the roater had only been cleaned, not replaced like Mcleas said they had done. After my breaks had been changed at Mcleas I noticed they squeaked really loud and a lot, so I took it back to have them check them, they said it was the type of break that had been put on, lies (which remember they put on for me) what they didn't tell me was that there was a warranty on them and they could have been replaced free of charge. Never going here ever again. Please beware of this place. I recommended P&R AUTOBODY on Cleveland in Santa Rosa, he also owns a dealership and an auto repair shop, very nice and always helps me out with my car. read more

I recently ran over a nail with my brand new tire and McLea's totally LIED to me when i went to them to repair it. They told me that the tire could not be repaired and I would need to purchase a new one at a cost of over $230.00. I declined and went to American Tire Co in Santa Rosa where they fixed my tire for free and rotated my tires for free in about 30 minutes. I felt very upset that McLea's would be SO unethical and dishonest just to sell a tire. I am happy nothing worse was wrong with my car! I will never go back to them again. read more

I had a horrible experience here. Shortly after purchasing tires at McLea's Petaluma, I brought my car to their Cotati store to rotate tires. They informed me I had a nail in my tire and that I could NOT drive on it or have it repaired. I had not heard this before, but reluctantly okayed the work on their insistence, particularly since I had bought their replacement warranty. I was shocked when presented with a bill for about the same cost as the tire itself. They said the warranty only covered the cost of the tire and not the labor. Somehow they stitched together enough add-ons to charge me nearly $80. Other tire sellers charge $15-$20 to install a tire, including add-ons. Although I still have their "warranty" service and free rotations, I will NEVER return here, nor will anyone I have a chance to tell. read more

I am surprised to hear bad reviews about the customer service at this garage. I have had nothing but good experiences with McLeas on the 3 different times I've brought my car in there. I've gotten shuttle trips to and from my house, customer service that I told them, myself, the last time I was in was the BEST experience I've had. I didn't get up sold on anything and when checking all my vehicles fluids actually told me they were fine. I bought 4 new tires, which were on sale, an alignment which they pulled a coupon out for, as I didn't even know there was one, and then a bottle of water for the drive home. When I told the guy helping me how awesome they were, he mentioned I share my opinion on Yelp so as it's more common to rant than rave. Reading the other reviews here, that is pretty clear. McLeas was recommended to me by some friends and I have since been recommending them to others. More often than not the people I mention them to already take their vehicles there and also highly recommend them. read more

They tryed to tell me that they could not repair my brand new tire on my 2014 jeep and that I needed to replace it when all that was wronge with it was that it had a screw in the tread. McLeas in Cotati is the only place I take my cars. I don't shop around because I know I'll get the best price and customer service here. I've been coming to McLeas since they opened in Petaluma about 20 years ago, and was stoked when the Cotati store opened about 5 years later (give or take). I feel like a valued customer, because I'm treated like one. I've never been given the run around or been sold something I didn't want or need. I've gotten everything from lift kits, tires, wheels, exhaust systems, suspension, and K&L cold air intake, to regular maintenance, oil changes, and tire rotations. I even get a stamp for my recommended services in my dealer service book since they are certified, and obviously they charge much less than a dealership would. Greg is my favorite mechanic (he's a genius), and Calo will probably win the Manager of the year award. Well he should any ways, cause he runs that place as smooth as butter... I was impressed with the exceptional customer service provided by McLea's in Cotati. The whole team, and James in particular, provided thorough, professional, respectful and friendly service. I went in because my tire had a nail stuck in it and I needed it repaired. I was treated just like a client who took in a several-hundred-dollar item. They said the tire would be ready in 40 minutes so I decided to go run errands and told them I'd be back soon. When a little over 40 minutes had passed, James gave me a courtesy call confirming it was done. Upon returning I requested a quote for two car maintenance needs to be taken care of in the future; within minutes I had a formal printed quote ready to go and zero pushiness. James acted as my account executive; like he would take care of orchestrating care for my car no matter what. As I was leaving, he walked me to my car and even offered me a bottled water for the road. Once in my car, I saw that the little tire light on my dashboard was still on. I stepped out of my car to get someone to turn it off and next thing I know three of the mechanics, as well as James, are rushing to my car to see why I'm getting out and to handle the issue. It is so clear that at the Cotati McLea's customer satisfaction is a top priority. In this day and age, positive and outstanding customer service experiences across all industries are few and far between; I commend James and the whole team at this shop for raising the bar on customer satisfaction (and for doing so with a smile) and look forward to using their services again. I had the BEST service here today. I was a Les Schwab customer but had an issue with them on my last visit and decided to stop going there. My friend Chris P who works at the mcleas in Santa Rosa told me to go to mcleas. I live in Cotati, so I went to the mcleas there. Brandon helped me and he was so nice and helpful. My front end alignment took 30 min max. I asked him about their oil change service because I'm due for one and I ended up making an appt there for this weekend. Brandon also went a step further in telling me that one of my calipers might b bad causing my car to not align. I was overall extremly happy with the service and how fast it took! Not my first experience with McLea's. which was also a 5 star experience. Bought a used car from a dealer last year and sprung for lifetime oil changes. Part of the free oil change includes a cursory inspection of major systems and the systems are checked either green, yellow, or red - meaning OK, needs attention, or is just plain broken. Got the invoice back and was sent on my way with three things marked in yellow, one of them being the serpentine belt. I inspected the belt and it was glazed and frayed - prime for failure. The counter man made no mention of the items in yellow, missing a sales opportunity and sending me along in a car that could leave me stranded long before my next oil change. Called McLea's and got in the next day. Was quoted a price before they checked the book. Even though the job took almost twice as long, they honored their original quote and checked the pulleys and crank to make sure that the next belt wouldn't fail prematurely (as this one was going to). These guys are dedicated to fixing your car correctly the first time. It may take a bit longer, it may cost a bit more, but the safety and peace of mind is worth it to me. read more

Last week my daughter came into the store and had a low tire and asked if she could have the tire looked at. When the tire mechanic looked at the tire he told my daughter that she needed new tires. She asked for a quote and the gentleman (Ozzie) gave her the quote. At that time she didn't have the funds to buy the tires, Ozzie made it very clear to my daughter that in good faith he could not let her and my Granddaughter drive back to Sonoma with the tires she had on. So he went into the wear house found her tires that would get her home safe until she could come back and get the tires he had quoted her. I just couldn't believe that someone in this world still cares about the safety of others. To you Ozzie and the entire McLea's tire team. Thank you from the bottom of my heart that I know my daughter and Grandchildrens are safe until new tires are purchased. Brought my car in for just 2 new tires, new back brakes, and tire rotation. Simple right,. They called me and said I should get new brake boots and drums, and I was like sure, trusting that they should be replaced. another $ 400 dollars. Then they said I need my brake fluid flushed and new fluid, which was like another $92. Total price for everything was $691When i drove my car home that night the tires and brakes were good but then i put my car from drive to park and my engine reved up and down, had high idle for daaayyys. Almost seriously messed up my engine, now check engine light is on. I don't trust their work at all. Expensive parts and expensive labor from dumb mechanics. Go elsewhere to people you actually can trust. They were more worried about up selling like retailers than doing a solid job. I had never had the crazy high idle problem or had the check engine light come on until right after I took it to Mc Leas.... Hmmm coincidence.. Don't take your vehicle here for anything. Ever. Go to smaller mechanics and shops you can seriously trust. read more

Went there today as all four of my tires were at a low PSI causing TPM light to come on. I went in and James suggested that I have the tires drained of air and filled with nitrogen. Up on the rack it went, tires inspected and no issue, drained the air and filled with nitrogen and out the door without an appt. in 45 min. I have been here before and they are always courteous, explain everything and then there is that cold bottle of water they offer for the road. I appreciate great service and this place gives it. Beware! This place is out to get your money. They WILL use scare tactics to get into your wallet. I strongly suspect that this is especially so if you are a woman. 9/25/14: $108.75 to "diagnose" that battery is weak & needs replaced. Let them do so, get my truck home, windshield wiper fluid reservoir is leaking. It wasn't before I took it in. The reservoir is located right behind the battery. Any guesses as to what happened?! 3/14/16: Take same truck in for oil change & lube. The only reason I take it there again is because location is convenient to my work. Pick my truck up & on the way home "check alternator" light coming on & off & on. NO "check alternator" or any other warning light coming on before I took it in. Go back thinking they just knocked a wire loose or something. Silly me. OF COURSE, according to them I suddenly need a new alternator. I think this is quite suspicious, but go ahead & let them do it to the tune of $420. 4/26/16: I tried one more time just because of the convenience & because I just wanted new tires. Get a call at work because of a "safety concern". Supposedly my rack & pinion is "leaking internally, the power steering fluid is black & if I don't fix this my steering could go out completely without warning." (No leak puddles on my driveway at home where I park, so I think this is suspicious as well.) Also, they tell me I need new shocks because the original shocks are still on my truck. Tell them that THAT is not true because I helped a friend replace the front shocks MYSELF! Tell them not to do any of this extra work & to just do my tires. Pick up my truck, pay, go out to get in my truck, but look underneath at the spare before I do so. Had asked them 3 times to move the 1 tire that still had some decent tread to my spare because the spare that I had was bald. Any guesses as to what I found? Yep, the old bald spare had not been touched. Had to wait for them to pull my tire out of the garbage & put it on my spare. Get my truck home, park it & now, FOR THE FIRST TIME there are puddles of fluid on the concrete where I park. Took truck to another shop next day, had them put on rack, take of front wheels & tell me if they see anything amiss. They told me about the power steering leak & the fluid being dark. I asked, "So, is this a safety concern?" Answer: "No, I saw nothing that was a safety concern." Then told 2nd shop what 1st shop told me. He said that was ridiculous. That the steering isn't going to seize up & stop working without warning. It will start whining/squealing when I turn & power steering may cut out intermittently for a second or 2 at a time. If/when that happens is when I need to have repairs done. Called my old mechanic back in TN & explained it all to him. He agreed with the 2nd shop as far as the problem giving me some warning. But added that both shops were trying to rip me off because the rack & pinion & the power steering fluid reservoir & the power steering fluid pump are all 3 distinct things. Just because I have a leak somewhere & the fluid is dark does not mean my rack & pinion is shot. He said it was like them telling me that I need new wheels & axles because the tread on my tires is low. Started asking around about McLea's/Cotati & McLea's in general. 3 different coworkers all told me of bad experiences & that they won't take their vehicles there. Another person told me that her boyfriend tried to work there but left because of a bad work environment & because mechanics are told to FIND THINGS WRONG, HOWEVER INCONSEQUENTIAL, SO THAT ESTIMATES CAN BE WRITTEN UP. I will not use McLea's ever again, even for the free rotations that came with my new tires. read more

RP location. There are some good. They did an excellent job searching for what my car --actually-- needed unlike other places. Nice friendly staff AND the mechanics seem to do a good job in the back MOST of the time but the owner OVER PRICE on anything. MANY BAD: -They try really hard to add anything possible to your bill. They claim you even need tires. I took it somewhere else to check on the tires and they estimated replacement at a lower price AND that I had another 4000 miles worth on my car!!! -Unfortunately, I also got a 60,000 mile tune up done. They "forgot" to include my discounts from coupons and only smiled and apologized about it saying they could NOT do ANYTHING to change it and besides they "kinda" gave me a discount "anyway". What kind of answer is that? - I got breaks done - they starting making noises now. WOW... really?? I just got them done there too 4000 miles ago at McLeas. BTW, when I got them done, they included a 99 dollar break fluid (NOT included on my original quote I signed) and extra 100 bucks was NOT a nice surprise when I went to pick the car. Took a truck in for an alignment, took almost two hours with an appointment. When they were done they proceeded to open my hood (which they did not inform me about or ask for permission to do so) and check everything under it. The words that the salesman who went over the alignment paperwork with me told me that it was "good enough," my steering wheel was "straight enough," and when I questioned him about whether my camber could be adjusted any better he told me that it was "within specs, so its good enough." I took it to another shop in Petaluma that actually got the wheel perfectly straight and set all the specs perfectly. So if you want service that is "good enough" and unauthorized inspections done on your car, this is the place for you. read more

I took my truck in because it was not steering correctly after i got new tires.This had happened before so i thought it was the tracking bar like it was before I asked them to change it they did and then the told me that was not the problem but they could fix it so they changed every thing they could including steering box,both axles witch leaked gear oil all over my truck and had to be redone.tie rods,ball joints,coil springs etc 4000 dollars worth of things that did not need to be done.In the end they told me it was the tracking bar and that it was installed wrong and now everything works right.I asked the manager what he planned to do about all the unneeded work and all the money I had spent.He said they could put my old parts back i was amazed at this idiots lack of responsibility.so then he said they would polish my headlights at no cost.I went back today because the new manager said he would make it right and give me a great deal on tires his deal was 4 new tires installed for 1150.00 so I just walked out before I got even more angry.I went to costco and got the same exact tires out the door for 850.00 I nor any of my friends or family will ever take our cars back I suggest no one should they have lost a lot of customers by not doing the right thing. . read more

I bought Tires from the McLea's on Piner road about 13 months ago and they convinced me to purchase the road hazard protection plan.This week I got a flat ,called the number in the packet (DON"T lose the packet if you buy this) and someone came and put on my spare. I brought it in to the Cotati shop and waited about 20 minutes before the fool at the desk finished shuffling papers acknowledged my existence. I have had trouble with this guy each time I have been in there (because I'm a woman?? I think so). When my sister came to pick me up he finally decided to go out and get my info off the car. They called about an hour later and said it was just a loose valve. I couldn't get back until the following day,and when I went in they told me I had "running lights" and brake lights out.Since he told me it would take 15 minutes and $50 to fix so I had them do the replacements and waited the 30 minutes it took. Turns out the brake lights weren't a bulb problem. All this is NOT what really pissed me off. When I went to the store later in the day and wanted to put groceries in the back, I discovered the tire well was not shut and the jack was just laying there. WHY can't they just FINISH a job??? It is typical of this place. I will NOT go back there for any other work that doesn't pertain to the tire warranty. All they want to do is sell you stuff you don't need or want,and their customer service SUCKS! read more
