We've been going to McClea's for quite a few years now. We got started with them because of a used car we bought off a lot. We learned that the dealer had used McClea's to prep and vet the car for resale. It's been a great, reliable car, and we found McClea's to be a great reliable repair and service business. There are other good choices around town but you end up sticking with the one that works best for your car(s) and your personal situation. Good work, fair prices, and you feel like you're dealing with friends. Car repairs are never enjoyable but McClea's Cotati makes the process as pleasant as anyone could! When I've had concerns, such as why did it cost so much to fix that tire leak, they explain very honestly why they do things the way they do and that they won't cut corners even where it doesn't show. This place is a complete rip off. Avoid them at all costs. From the second I walked in the door they were upselling me things I didn't ask for or need. I'm a general contractor, I get nails in my tires from time to time. I asked for a tire repair and they tried selling me 4 tires because i had other nails repaired there in the past and warned me of all the risks involved with driving on repaired tires. I laughed, the tires were almost new. I told the guy to just fix the nail. If I bought tires every time i had a nail in one I would spend 5k a year on tires. Then while repairing the nail they say I need ball joints. This truck is just over a year old, but being concerned I asked how much and they say $900. I held off thank goodness. I took the car to the dealer and they said the ball joints were completely fine and would have been covered on ANY car manufacturers warranty for at least 3 years or 36k. I snuck out of there for $25. If it were my folks who trust everyone they would have stolen about $1200 in upsells and repairs that didnt need to be performed. When this was Pioneer Tire and Brake it was a completely different company run by ethical people (Dennis and Mary). Now it is run by thieves that try to exploit every unsuspecting customer that comes in the door (I watched 4-5 others get the same treatment). Needless to say I'll be taking my small fleet (7 trucks) somewhere else from now on. read more

Worst tire place ever!!! 5 lug nuts per 4 tires total of 20 lugs, so on and off it's 40 times you'd have to use the gun. My rims got scuffed on every lug nut, so the mechanic had to see the damage and not care at all. After complaining they offered to go 1/2 in on a rim detail repair man, total of 400, so they wanted me to pay 200 out of my pocket to cover their damage. I said no way I will pay, Ozzie went on today well I have to ask our GM. He called him and 4 days later I get the answer they gave the ok for you check, expect is in a few days but if not call back. That was on the 8th of sep. I finally called their corp number and asked where my check was, she said I have to call you back.... Turns out Ozzie never filed the paperwork. Month later still no money. Worst customer service ever. bunch of monkeys holding wrenches. I wish I could break his jetta's rims like he did mine.STAY CLEAR OF THESE FOOLS. I am not pleased with the quality of service I received yesterday. Went in for a service to include new wiper blades and realized this morning they removed the old blades but did not put on the new blades! With my car you don't even see them unless they are in use so it was not noticed until about an hour ago. On top of that they informed me that apparently "the last time I got my car serviced" the cap to a fuse box had come off...uh, they were the last place to service my car! Strike two. Never, ever, ever again will we bring our cars to McLea's. What a rookie, irresponsible move (and twice apparently!) with zero attention to detail. McLea's Tire is run by a bunch of criminals and have no concept of customer service. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE FOR A FLAT REPAIR OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER! I brought my wife's Subaru in because she had a nail in her back tire. So they took the tire off and turns out she had 4 small nails (looked like small finishing nails) in various places on her tire (she works up past the county landfill, hence the nails on occasion). They told me that they could only fix three of them and that it was unsafe to fix more than three punctures in the tire. I asked if they could do it anyway, they said their liability insurance would not allow them to do it. So fine - even though the set of tires had a good 10k left, lets just put a set of new tires on and get on with it. So I get a new set of tires from them and a few days later, she gets another nail in one of her brand new tires - take it back to McLea - they look at it - once again they can't fix it - two nails in the tire this time - but they say they are too close together - can't be repaired, gonna have to buy a new tire. What a bunch of BS - this tire is 1 week old!!! If I had bought their tire protection plan, they would replace the tire for free - so I ask if I can buy the plan now, they say sure, but I would still have to pay for a new tire. Jesus - how are these guys still in business! I now realize these guys are just ripping me off - they make me an offer to sell me a new tire for their "cost" of $125 plus tax and mounting. So I call Les Schwab down the street and they say to bring the car in and they will fix the flat. So Les Schwab takes only a few minutes, they fix the flat with no hassles, and then they don't even charge me for the repair!!! The salesperson just says to me "Now you know where to come when you need your next set of tires". This is what I would call winning the customer and a GREAT example of good service. I will be reporting McLea's to the BBB for deceptive, dishonest business practices - I could have gone to Les Schwab and had the first tire repaired and not bought a new set for another 9-12 months. Premium price, subpar results at the Cotati location. I've been a big fan of McLea's Piner location, and have taken my fleet of fuel trucks there for years. Recently I took my personal truck to the Cotati location on three occasions and won't be going back. The first time was for a starter, which they bought from O'Reilly and marked up 100% to resell to me - literally - I listened to the phone call as I was in the lobby and later verified with O'Reilly (total cost $500). The second was to diagnose several items which I asked them to take a look at. My truck is older than their scanner would read, so rather than diagnose any of them old school, they simply recommended a major tune-up and charged me for an hour's diagnostics ( $145). I questioned that, so they knocked it down to half an hour. I paid for the tune-up (over $500) which they performed. When I picked up my vehicle, it was overheating when driven for more than a few minutes. When I took it back, I was told I could pay another full hour of diagnostics ($145) for them to figure out what they had done on the previous visit. I elected to spend my money elsewhere. If you're going to charge a premium price, be able to back it up with quality workmanship. Standing behind the work you do is always nice, too. read more

These guys have no clue what they are doing. My car has spent 2 full days here and yet the original reason I took my car in for was never taken care of. Not sure what my car was doing there for 16 hrs. What I do know is they had an awesome time messing with every setting on my after market stereo. Oh and they found other issues with my car on each of the 2 days however they didn't fix what it was there for. Now they want me to come back for a 3 day and roughly $1500.00 more..... Had a flat tire and took it in to have it fixed. JJ was an excellent customer service rep, went out of his way to treat me right. Tire was fixed in the timeframe quoted and they found another issue which my regular Toyota services hadn't caught. I had taken my car here a couple of times! Once I had gotten an alignment and I thought it went pretty fast and the guys were really nice so I was sure that I had found my new go to when ever I needed some repairs on the car..... BOY was I WRONG!! I took it back in the end of September and was wanting to get my breaks checked I was greeted by JR and he had asked if I knew which breaks were causing problems I informed him I thought it was the front. He tells me we will look everything over! Greatful I went inside he printed out the estimate for the work to be done. He explains it will be $69.50 and it will be waived if there is any problems I will pay for that work instead! I am signing it thinking that is an awful lot to be taking the tires off to be looking at some breaks. Little did I know they were doing a FULL look over seeing everything under the hood and any repairs that might be needed under the car. When everything is all said and done JR tells me my breaks are fine and I am relieved then he tells me there is over $3,000 worth of damage I was completely floored what all had they been doing back there! He gave me the full scoop I paid the $69.50 and left later that same day I got a second opinion and found out half the things they said was urgent was actually not and that my car is actually in great condition and actually only had a little over $1,100 worth of repairs! I was having one of the worst days. No power at home in Sonoma for three days, my phone was on it's last legs. I had an appointment in Cotati and when I was done, I found my car died and I had to call AAA. After getting it started, they recommended McLea's. Not only did they service my car while I waited, they charged my cell phone so I could get in touch with my family at home. Ron and his coworker (sorry I didn't get his name) were so nice. I took my son's 4 Runner in for breaks. $1800.00 later the breaks were done. They did new tires and fixed a oil leak. While I think their prices are completely out of line, their service peole are very nice and knowledgable. They explained everything and stayed open late so they could finish the repair. Stopped in to get a battery replaced under warranty. . This shop just said they would have to charge me $60 to install a battery! According to them it would take them 40 minutes to replace the battery. First of all, it's under warranty and second, 40 minutes to change the battery is ridiculous! read more

My time spent at Mcleas Tire and Automotive is always nothing short of amazing. Every detail from the landscaping, how clean and evenly paved the parking lot is to the layout of the showroom, unbelieveable that this is a tire and automotive repair shop! The cleanest I have ever had the pleasure in being. The Virgin Mary would be honored to use their restroom, impeccibly clean and nice! Now onto the service aspect, I have mostly dealt with Jason Widmer in all of my visits, but everyone here is bright, thoughtful, professional, and funny too! They make the atmosphere of an automotive repair shop anything but the norm. They always keep me updated and always remember my name. To me, the costs are worth it for that attentiveness alone amd leaves me reassured that my vehicle needs are always in the right hands. They know their way around nearly every type of vehicle and seem to deliver superior communication and customer service effortlessly. I have bought 2 sets of tires and a few flushing services from Jason and could not be happier. Their special BG products they use are worth their weight in gold. The fuel induction service that was performed on my 04 Tahoe with 240,000 on the odometer enabled my engine to run far stronger than before and increased my gas mileage noticeably. I know I bought some time to save off disaster with so many miles(oe engine and trans) by listening to Jason's recommendations and will continue to do so on all future visits. When it came to my tires, Craig recommended nitrogen instead of plain old air and I'm glad he did. I have had to adjust my air pressure 1 time in a whole year! That stuff works! I'm really disappointed they refused to put regular tires on my car saying my car can only have run flat tires on it. My car came stock with a spare tire. Why would I have a spare tire that came stock in the trunk if I was only supposed to have run flat's. They just want to double the price of the sale. read more

My son's Honda Civic was overheating while I was out of town. He took it to McLea's, and showed them where there was spray coming out of the coolant reservoir, and they diagnosed it as having a cracked radiator. My wife approved proceeding with the repair at a ridiculously high quote of $1300 for a replacement radiator.(that is roughly twice to four times what it should cost). He picked up his car and drove it the next day, and the engine immediately started over-heating again. McLea's covered the tow back to their shop, and then diagnosed it as having a blown head gasket. After getting it mis-diagnosed, and getting way over-charged for the work, I was done with them. Took it to another mechanic. He said they should have known to check the head gasket given the description of the spray coming from the coolant reservoir, and that I was over-charged like 4 times the value of the radiator and hoses. Left wondering if I really even needed the radiator, and definitely not happy with the whole experience. read more

I read some of the reviews and while i cannot comment on them my experience with McLea's has been awesome, they put a lift on my Honda Pilot and quoted me a price i thought was fair, I bought new tires and wheels and the price was again fair, it does not bother me when someone asks me or suggests that I might need an additional service after all I drive my kids around in this Pilot! anyway Ozzy and the whole group of guys are great, when I cam into pick up my pilot it looked great and they told me it took much longer to install the lift kit because of corrosion on bolts, they didn't try to charge me extra or sell me something i didn't need, they just did a great job, I recommend them to everyone I talk to about tires or cars, keep up the good work! read more

I had a minor accident and the CSAA truck that towed me took me to McLeas in Cotati. There JR came out of the shop to meet me when the tow truck drove up. He asked if I was okay, and then escorted me inside. From there he was kind and efficient and took care of me and my car. The customer service at McLea's is always the best! I've gotten my power window motor fixed there. As well as having some belts and lights changed. Also got my new Firestone tires there. I am able to drop of my truck and pick it up at the end of my day with the work complete. They are priced fair and are totally on top of things. I called on this location to see if they could get a specific tire brand, the gentleman ( I will not post his name) said yes they can get them...he called back within 15 minutes to give me the price which seemed reasonable, I told him let me give this some thought, I was going to call a few more places..but he said that these where the last two of this brand and size available so I decided to go ahead with it. When I showed up I asked them to look at a steering problem I was having and do a oil change...When I picked up the car, they did a bang up job on the tires and oil, I have no complaints there...I was then presented with what the steering problem was and a small list of other things they had found that needed replacement or work done...Since my car had extended warranty I decided to call on the dealership about the steering issue...it was covered 100% so I took it in for that..during that they did two recall updates on my car and a full vehicle inspection...it passed 100% and there was no mention of the other items that Mc Leas had listed as work the needed to be done..I don't think that Mc Leas is a bad place but I certainly do think that they try and up sale people on work and I know they do up-charge on most all that work. read more

For several years, I've been using McLea's in Cotati for my 2010 Prius and 1993 Toyota Pickup. Today, I took the Prius in for a new set of tires, and received excellent service from Eric. We initially thought that we needed four new tires, but they quickly realized that one of the tires was fine, and that I only needed three. Their prices are good, the service is great. WARNING!!!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNPROFESSIONAL! UNEDUCATED!!! SCAM ARTISTS!!!! I brought my truck here for front end work about 6 months ago. Because I went through my insurance of course they charged double the amount for everything they did on my truck. Then their "best front end guy in NorCal" put the wrong sized tie rods on my truck and completely screwed up my entire alignment. They told me my truck was good to go so I drove it to Texas when I arrived the inside of my brand new $1800 tires were completely bald with wire showing. I called them and they didn't any ownership of their mistake. They told me The only way it was possible was that I took my ($70k 2016 Laramie longhorn Cummings) OFF A JUMP!!! And the tie rods were bent. What jump would my truck be going off? And why in gods name would I do that?. When I finally got a mechanic to tell me whatever idiot put the tie rods on they weren't the right size and it messed up the camber I called them. They said they would take care of it. For 3 months Ozzie they con artist office manager gave me a bull:$&: dodging excuse every time I called asking me to have patience. Finally the warranty covered the $150 alignment (which they charged me $450 for) but didn't cover my tires which were $1800 even though they were only 3 WEEKS OLD!!!! I called them 100 times and they ducked my phone calls and screwed me over. Until the 4th time I showed up at the shooed they said they would pay $400 of the tires EVEN THOUGH THEIR PROFIT ON MY RIP OFF JOB THAT COSTED OVER $8,000 WAS PROBABLY OVER $5k!!!!! Place is a rip off with a bunch of idiots and shitty back yard mechanics. Soon as I have a chance I'm hiring a lawyer to sue this place. read more
