I received a quote from McLea's for a new clutch and flywheel, it was 500$-700$ more than the bids I received from 2 other local shops, they are not competitively priced. I tried doing business with them because they are approximately 1 mile from my work and it was convenient for me, I cant speak to the quality of their work but they are way over priced !! Very friendly people. Have payment options if you happen to be in sonoma county and not rich. Not very honest. Just had my brakes go out. Needed new rotors and pads. I am not a car guy. I am the only income for a family of 5. They quoted me. I asked if there were cheaper parts. They said no so I approved. Mind you I was needing my car fixed badly for work. And was at work when they called qoute to me. However after I approved and picked up my car I had time to do research. They quoted me the absolute most expensive parts on the market for my vehicle and lied when they told me those where the only options. Everywhere I called after the fact laughed at me and pointed out all my pads and rotors should have cost a little over what they charged for 1 rotor. Not a car guy I'm a computer guy... I wanted to share the great experience I had with RON at McLea's Tire & Automotive Center. From my first call to the last call this company embodies customer service. I'm currently restoring a 1971 Camaro and after upgrading the engine I needed some rubber that would keep my car on the road. However, I had no idea what size tires would fit on my car, I wanted an aggressive look and something that would handle the high horsepower I was putting down. Ron did not hesitate to help me with this and even went as far as researching what other Camaro owners installed on their cars. Ron even went as far as working with my mechanic to do a test fitting to ensure no rubbing would take place. I choose to work with local businesses instead of big box companies for this exact reason. Sure you might pay a little more but knowing my money stays local and I'm guaranteed excellent customer service makes me sleep well at night. I will not be returning to this location in the future. The customer service leaves something to be desired and the company's policies are in place to make money, not to gain customers or trust. I came here on the recommendation of somebody, but the treatment I received means I will not be back. I took my car in, at 12:30PM, for a flat tire, just wanting to get it patched. I was told it would be a little bit of a wait and that they would call when it was done, so I went home. Jump to 3:00PM and I get a text telling me the tire can't be patched. I call to say I will be by to pick up the car, and that I DO NOT want them to put my spare on. The male individual I was on the phone with argued with me, saying that I had signed an agreement that "if the tire is irreparable that I agree to let them put my spare on for $19.50". After looking back at that paper I signed, the wording just says that they CAN put the spare on for $19.50 if the tire is irreparable. I told that individual that I am capable of putting the spare on myself and do not want to pay $19.50 and that I do not authorize it. After being bullied into agreeing, in fear that I wouldn't get my car back, I went and picked up my car. After speaking in person to that same individual on the phone, they tried to give me a liability spiel. I understand that this is a company decision and not the individual employees, but the principle is that this was plain stealing. They had sent me pictures of the damage, emails that the tire was irreparable and that I could not drive on it, and one simple form saying I will not blame them if something happens to me if I drive on it, and their "liability" would be covered. We are adults, we can make decisions whether good or ill, and we take responsibility for those choices. But no, your company wanted to make a buck. So, congrats. You made $19.50 when you could have secured a customer, maybe even more by my recommendations, and hundreds of more dollars in the future. I will not be back, and no one I know will be patroning this company. read more

If I could give 10 stars to Ozzie and Ron at McLea's in Cotati I would. They are my heroes. My Lexus SUV wouldn't start so AAA came out and started me up. I got stranded again near McLea's, called them and Ron came by and got me started again and I followed him to their service center. It turned out not to be a battery but, the starter. So, they are fixing my starter tomorrow morning. They are the nicest, most helpful, honest and dedicated to their customers auto people I have ever dealt with. I am deeply grateful. 1pm on a Friday I was in a tight situation. Our Armada wasn't starting and I was pretty sure it was the starter. The problem was that I was planning on taking it to the mountains the next morning. I was only a couple miles from the shop, but the tow-truck wasn't some 4 hours out. But, when I called, the very helpful guy on the phone said they had the people available, checked the parts and those were available, and that if I got there by 2:30 they could fix it before their day ended at 5:30. Well, I got lucky and the tow truck showed up and got the Armada to the shop right at 2:30. Sure enough, the part had been ordered and the vehicle was done by 5:30 and my trip the next day carried on! I will definitely be going back to this place after my first experience there. read more

THE ABSOLUTE WORST PLACE EVER! Took a truck in for tires. They gave me the "Do you want a Transmission service, do you want our 12 point this, do you want that?" No, no, no, I told them. Finally, I said "All I want are the tires!" When I got back, they had charged me over $100 for a "Fuel Injection system service". I told them that I didn't authourize that and didn't want it. Still had to split it with them. Then, my 85 year old Dad takes his car there because it won't start. They charge him $1,155 to repair. He drives it home and the very next time he tried to start it - nothing! I go over to Dad's and find a loose wire on the starter relay and fix it myself. I called to ask if they could tighten it up without charging the man another $!,000+ dollars. No offer to refund a little, nothing. And then, in what is the final straw for me and them, I took a truck in to get some smog repairs. I took the codes in to them. Their estimate was $1,200. I said no thanks, but they still charged $150 for their "Diagnosis". The diagnosis that I brought to them? $150? Oh, well, I took it elswhere, got the smog repair done, got a new windshield put on it, and had another truck repaired all for less ($232 less) than they wanted to replace 2 sensors on my little pickup. The only reason they're getting one star is that this software won't let me give them a negative number. How does someone go to work everyday knowing that they're being this way. Took my car in with a nail in the tire. needed mud and snow tires on my SUV They put 2 new tires on the back. After my car was in a auto shop due to a shimmy going 60mph, they mechanic discovered that McClains sold me 2 tires for the rear that did NOT match the same size of the ones on the front. Had i put the car in 4 Wheel drive at any time, it would have dropped the differential and caused big damages. Also the front tire was not totally round, causing the shimmy. These people are not professional or informed, they should NOT be working on your car, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE read more

Everyone is professional and respectful. They do a good job and work as fast as possible but don't sacrifice service. They have a new service of sending you a text message with photos of issues with your vehicle which is great because it shows the problem. I've been a customer with McLeas since 2007, normally I use the Petaluma location but I came to this one (cotati) because they do exhaust. I asked about getting a muffler installed and due to my work, could only have it installed on the day that the exhaust technician was off. The guys at the front desk called other locations to see if any other were available that day to no avail. Since they could not offer me their services for this installation, they recommended and scheduled me in at another local muffler shop. Everything worked out great, and my car sounds awesome now. Since my last review, I've visited McLeas in Cotati two times. The first time, I was given a list of everything that needed to be done to my truck and told which items were safety issues and which were "needed in the near future". One of those items was new tires and the other was a horn switch replacement (my decision to hold off on it). When I had the tires replaced, McLeas' credit card company erroneously charged me twice, four days apart. I called McLeas two minutes before closing and Jason got all my information and let me know the credit card company was already closed and that it would have to wait until the next morning. By 8:30 the next morning, Jason called me to let me know what the issue was and that it would be taken care of. My account was credited back that morning. Today, when I took the truck back to have the horn switch replaced, James called and let me know it was only dirty connection points which they cleaned and they also stiffened up the springs saving me approximately $100 for a new switch. They could have easily gone ahead and changed the switch and not told me. Their honesty and good work will keep me continuing to do business with them. read more

My car would start, but not take gas. I called Triple AAA and agreed to be towed to McLea's a Triple AAA owned station. It was before closing so they had to wait until the next day to work on it. I had no appointment, so understandable they had to work me in. When I called, I would get the young kid at the front desk, and long story short, each time he said he would call me back, he didn't. I called six times that day with no information and no phone calls. The last time was 4:45 and the kid promised he would call back. I waited until 15 min. before closing, called again and told the kid, who promised to call me back to give me the Mgr. I'm not disclosing the kid's name, but they know who he is. He needs to be trained in customer service. Whether you have information or not, call the customer back, and let them know the situation. Never promise to call and not follow up. The Mgr. Ozzi told me, what they had to try first and promised to get back to me the next day. Day two, Ozzi did call back, said a crank sensor is what they would try first. If that didn't work, it would be a computer . Well, it had to be the computer. The car now was running. I paid a very high price, most was for labor. When I got home and turned off the key, a heavy fuel smell was in the air. Also the car was bucking alot on the drive home. Later, Ozzi told me it was running fast. Back the car went the next day. I had new hoses installed, the car needed them. This stopped the bucking or stuttering it is called on utube. They worked on it for hours ,and could not find the reason for the smell of fuel, so it was deducted that it was a faulty computer. They did a dignostic test and could get no codes. Now another computer had to be ordered, but they are refurbished ones, and it turned out the first one was defected. I have to say, Ozzi was very good at everything. He called when he said he would and tried everything to make me happy, because by now i was very worried, frustrated about costs and no car for quite a few days. About a week. On Aug 30th, I went in at 10Am, another computer installed and in one hour the car was working great. No fuel smell, no bucking, all the bugs were worked out. I do not think I will ever go back there, because in my opinon, Ozzi is the only one who gave great customer service and went above and beyond with his help., and was very polite. Their labor cost are very high. In their defense, I was not charged for labor for the hours they spent trying to find the cause of the fuel smell, but I did pay over 900 in labor for not more than 400 in parts. You also have to pay for them to put up on rack and do a dinostic test. One hundred and ninty-nine dollars, yet it didn't help. Except for Ozzi the manager, it was not a good experience and a very high labor cost. Parts were cheap. Over 900 in labor, but they do give 10% off if you are a Triple AAA member. read more

This place is great. Quality workmanship for a fair price. I am a fan of Larry who works in the shop. Last time I took wifes car in Erik worked on it and he is also quite good. I cant believe someone as tall as him could fit into her tiny car though. Everything was done right, they replaced the valve covers on the tires since I didnt have any. Afterwords I get a call about how they appreciate my business, which was a bit much but shows they do care. I will tell everyone I know to come here, and will continue to be a customer as long as they are around and as excellent as they are! read more

A few months ago I took my car in for a tire rotation at another auto place and was told I needed new shocks. I was completely thrown off by the price they quoted me at. Convinced I could get a better deal, I began calling around to every mechanic in the area. All quoted me the same or higher price except for McLeas. They didn't quote me at all! The man I spoke to on the phone offered to do a bounce test for my shocks to see how badly I needed them replaced. I figured a second opinion couldn't hurt so I drove straight there. After getting them tested, McLeas told me I did not need shocks. They were fine and it's just a manufactures recommendation based off of how many miles I've put on the car. They saved me hundreds of dollars! I appreciated their honesty and felt like they weren't trying to screw me over. I've been coming back to them ever since. I am giving this place 5 stars for their superior customer service. My husband had his rack and pinion done with a few other extras on Thursday, July 19th 2018. When I had to pick up my husbands truck, I noticed when I got up to 55 MPH to get on the 101 highway, the steering wheel started to shake a little. I called and explained to the auto technician, and they said bring it on in and we'll look at for you. Came in right away and they took care of it! Just a simple rebalancing. These guys helped me out in a pinch. Didnt have an apptmt but they took me same day to replace a headlamp bulb. Sounds dumb but the Prius is insane and requires removal of the whole front bumper to replace the headlamp. Since I botched the job myself first time and melted the coupler I needed to get the whole headlamp assembly replaced. They did aftermarket instead of from dealer and saved me $$$. Also chopped a 1/2 hour off the labor on top. Friendly and helpful. read more

This is an honest shop! Very skilled and knowledgeable technicians. I own a classic car that I bought when I was 15, and as you can imagine it means a great deal to me. Driving back to my home in SF when she decided to break down. Attempted to troubleshoot the problem but no luck. Incidentally I was right next to Pep Boys, and the clerk suggested this shop. I am so thankful that he did! The shop manager was super friendly and helpful. He attempted to help me troubleshoot the issue over the phone, but no luck. However, he was able to squeeze me in, and they got to work straight away. Turns out it was an easy fix, and way less expensive than I had anticipated. I thought it was the starter, apparently it was a few loose connections that I wasn't able to correct. Not only did they fix the problem they also corrected a few others, no charge! One being a oil leak I've been trying to find the source to for ages. The other was my window handle with a spare clip they had on hand. And the best part is they saved me a boatload of money! Was expecting to pay three times the amount that I paid. Got out of there with less than 180 bucks. Most shops would have squeezed me for the cash. These guys are honest! I can't remember the last time I brought my car into a shop, I do all the work myself. I would definitely return to this shop if I lived in the area. Honesty is everything, and these guys are very honest, want to help, and save you money. Would recommend to anyone that lives in this area. I've called over four places and these were the cheapest tires I can find for my Lexus IS without having to price match. And they do offer price match. Solid four stars, could've been five but I was pretty upset before my appointment cause the person on the phone told me about a promotion that was no longer effective and I asked the front desk guy will I still qualify for it and he said probably not. I told him that's the only reason I came here. Deal was $70 back for buying four Michelin tires. Got a call back from the other guy later that day and he took care of it well. Another thing I was told to bring my car in at 8 so it can be ready by 10:30 so I can make it to work but car didn't get finished till 4:30. Let me start by saying I love McLea's; ALL THE McLea's; my family loves McLea's (my brother drives in from San Luis Obispo to get his repair work done there - and to see my mom ;) - We own around 10 cars and THEY ALL GET WORKED ON AT McLea's...... The negative reviews on here are actually hilarious - it reminds me of Betty's Fish and Chips (see my forthcoming review) - if you don't want quality food or repair work than by all means go to Long John Silver's or a den of shysters like Les Schwab's - McLea's might not be as cheap as some "mechanics," but they are WAY more ethical and far cheaper than any auto-dealer (aka - used-car salesmen) and I come from the philosophy that you get what you pay for in life - so maybe McLea's wouldn't repair some old or heavily damaged tire - THERE IS A REASON FOR THAT - YOUR SAFETY - and unless YOU (not your "friend Joey") are an ASE Certified mechanic you have no business offering your OPINION of their work... One of the reasons I love McLea's is that first they remind me I even need an oil change (not a "car guy" - "car guys" are all kinda jerky, huh? - "car guys" are the same pricks that work in gun stores and look at you like you got 7 eyes if you don't know what Hoppy's is) and then they TELL me what needs to get serviced on my trucks - I mean if not for them my truck probably would have fallen off the wheels like in some roadrunner cartoon - I HATE Oilstop where they go; "Do you think this fluid or that fluid needs to be serviced, sir?" My brother used to take his Camry to Oilstop and guess what? The transmission died! Yay! I take my Bronco to McLea's and it once blew all the transmission fluid out the back and they looked at it and filled it back up and it still works great 8 years and 100,000 miles later... On the subject of my Bronco - Mike the Mechanic (he knows who he is) spent at least 8 hours trying to figure out why my Bronco wouldn't pass smog or switch off the check engine light even after we replaced ALL the O2 sensors - turns out Broncos run DIRTY and the cap on the sensor that reads the O2 sensors was NASTY - he soaked it in brake fluid ALL DAY and thanks to McLea's regular maintenance my check engine light hasn't been on since!!!! There should be a law that all repair work has to be done by ASE Certified mechanics and that all mechanics and service desk personnel be trained at McLea's - they didn't even squawk one time when I yelled at them because I didn't understand how much 4 new sets of brakes cost - and they didn't charge us a dime when some rookie fried my mom's Mustang's computer while doing a fuel pump and they had to get it replaced at Hansel and they split the cost of the manifold when it blew 6 months later because they felt maybe what had happened contributed (even though I know it was due to my El Cheapo Daddy taking the thing to Oilstop for years and NEVER CHANGING THE COOLANT - same thing happened to my Grandma's Buick LeSabre due to my uncle always cheaping out and going to Pennzoil) to the failure... Best repair and tire shop in the North Bay if not the world - I'd give them 10 stars if I could - now I'm off to Betty's for fish and PIE..... read more

I've taken my 2500hd here three time, the first time I got the kryptonite stage 2 leveling kit, when I got home and looked under not only was the axle not completely slid on on the left side, they didn't put the included krypto shock extenders on! I called very upset feeling cheated, they took care of it and lowered my axle angles cause I insisted they were too steep. Now a couple weeks later I've snapped an axle and they deny it was due to the angles. DONE. They have always been friendly but deceitful nevertheless. They wanted to charge me 169 for the axle which is only 79 bucks and an hour of labor, with an air gun it wouldn't take more than 30 minutes! read more
