For some reason I have ALWAYS had a terrible experience with customer service at Enterprise yet i go back thinking it will get better. Well at first i was wrong. Yesterday, I went to the Enterprise in Santee, CA with a reserved vehicle. Ubered there from my place about an hour after reserving the vehicle, got there, and they basically said "we're out of vehicles and you're SOL." I asked if there was anything they could do since i was now stranded there, and they said no.. you can try back in a few hours and basically stared at me until i walked out. So rude and dismissive, and they never called me to tell me the reservation was wrong...i was so upset. Called Enterprise in El Cajon, CA, a guy on the phone reserved a vehicle that said it was on the lot.. i said great. He said it'll be ready in 1 hour. Just so i didn't make the same mistake, i called Enterprise in El Cajon, (got hung up on after holding twice) and then they called and said to not come down they don't have cars. I asked how did someone JUST reserve a car for me that now isn't there? It makes no sense. I then went home via uber again, wasting my money upset, yet again. 1 hour later i got a called from El Cajon, they got a car for me ready and i picked it up. The staff there decent but gossiping about other coworkers in front of me which i thought was unprofessional but whatever.. that's the world. Today my mechanic called and said my truck got done earlier than expected. Awesome. I was in La Mesa where my ride was, so i called Enterprise in La Mesa and spoke with Jesse who right off the bat made both those Enterprises customer service look like a nasty, dirty, beat down gas station in the middle of nowhere. He welcomes me to bring the car back there, and i head over. He then again welcomes me, greets me like we've known each other for years and is the friendliest customer service rep I've come across in years. I don't do too many Yelps but he is so deserving of turning this god awful experience completely around and restoring my faith in this company. THANK YOU SO MUCH JESSE. You deserve so much in this world and if you don't get enough thank yous, here is 1000 more! I live in lakeside and will only be going to that Enterprise should i ever need a vehicle. 10/10 Jesse. I'm going to write two reviews - one about the people working there, and one about the company itself. I would have given 5 starts for the people. I worked with RJ, Jesse, and one other man whose name I don't remember. They were all so pleasant and helpful. They were patient even when I was frustrated by the lack of suitable cars for rent. It's unfortunate that they are left with so few cars to rent but it's not their fault. On my third visit to swap cars yet again, he got a returned car out of the line and had it cleaned up for me, and thought to complete the paperwork while the car was prepared to get me on the road quicker. Just one suggestion for Jesse - when you say you will wait for me to arrive after hours, please be there. Thankfully there was the third man there to kindly help me even though he was busy and they were officially closed - you know who you are, sorry I can't remember your name. Unfortunately everything else about this experience was a disaster. My BMW 2 series was in the shop. On Wednesday I reserved a "small luxury sedan" on the Enterprise website. When I arrived on Thursday to pick it up, all they had were two SUVs. That is not small nor sedan. I needed something so I took the Audi. It was the most uncomfortable vehicle I've ever been in. I'm 5'0" so I need lots of seat adjustment and this vehicle didn't have it. The headrest leaned so far forward that I couldn't sit up straight to drive. I brought it back at end of day - all they had to put me in was a crappy old Toyota Camry - says it's 2025 but looked like 1999 inside. It stunk inside of cleaners - the smell got in my hair and I smelled it all day. Seat adjustments were manual and again I could not make it comfortable - it hurt my knees. Back again I go on Friday to trade it for a crappy Toyota Corolla 2024 very basic, again only manual seat adjustment, no USB ports - don't all cars post 1999 have USB ports? It smelled bad too but not as bad as the other one so I put odor absorbers in it. I added two seat cushions to make the seat comfortable enough to drive. I can reach the pedals just barely. I just can't go back again to see if there's something better. Someone there told me flat out that they NEVER have BMWs for rent like the website claims, and rarely have Mercedes sedans. I don't understand it - I'm willing to pay the higher rate so why can't they keep some nicer cars around? He said they mainly have SUVs because that's what most people want and cheap sedans for those who don't want to pay much. I called another Enterprise on Lytton and the man said they also only have SUVs. Maybe you must go to the airport to get a decent sedan? I'd be embarrassed to rent the two Toyotas I tried. Maybe if they started with a nicer vehicle it would hold up better. But they go cheap and the client suffers the consequences. BTW nothing in their on-hold message is accurate - "clean maintained vehicles," "give every customer a great experience," "variety of vehicles," "get the vehicle you need," "standard of care," and "PUT YOU FIRST." All gross exaggerations - the experience was miserable. I will probably try Hertz next time but I imagine they are just as bad. Turo has limited vehicles and IDK how long I will need a car - just praying they fix mine soon. I've always been grateful to drive a BMW - now I will absolutely worship that car, having experienced how bad some others can be. read more

This is a very delayed review I had saved in my drafts from back in January 2026. This location is very understaffed so things take a while - I believe I was there for at least 30 mins to an hour picking up the car I reserved. However, despite the long wait times, the customer service was excellent and I wanted to give a shout out to the manager, Jesse. He was very accommodating and patient with every customer I saw him interact with. Even with customers that were being extremely rude and impatient... he was still such a professional. read more

When I calmly asked why he's raising his voice, he said he's decided not to rent to me. I was polite, I merely asked for the online price. I've used this location a number of times. This car rental has the best choices of cars. Staffs are very friendly and does not try to sell a bunch of stuff. Customer service was horrible. I had an appointment booked through USAA, arrived at the office to pick up my rental, horrible attitude from customer service and they made me wait just under one hour to get my rental. They couldn't care less about my time. I finally got a Ford F150 with 34,000 miles on it empty tank of gas and the car has a horrible smell. They told me they had no other vehicles that they could give me that would work for me so I have to go to a different enterprise to get a vehicle that hopefully will work. As an Insurance Agency Owner, we refer our customers to Enterprise multiple times per year. I have always supported Enterprise's Business Model and endorsed them. Today I reserved a vehicle for my own use for one evening, received my confirmation, and was called within a few minutes of reserving to notify me that inventory was tight and they would call me by 5:00 to confirm my vehicle type if it needed to be changed. No one called and my multiple calls to the La Mesa store rang without response. I called one more time just after 5:00 pm and eventually my call was answered and I was told that there are no vehicles available. read more

Edited: now went again. Same exact experience as told something would be adjusted and still hasn't been. Reached out to the corporate office and still no return call. Reached out to the email that was sent below & still no response! Not happy with the location at first but now see the clearly stems from the top. I have now visited this location more than 3 times. All occasions you can tell the people that work there want to be helpful however it appears something about the environment doesn't allow it. First the door to enter is a true hazard on the right. Secondly there seems to always be a wait even if you're first in line so allot yourself a minimum of an hour. They take calls while helping you & have you wait to assist others even though you were first. read more

Using enterprise through my insurance. Was told I could come pick up the same rental when arrived I was told they gave the car away and to pick a new one. They said it would be 15 minutes. Been standing here for over 45, when i ask do you know how much longer because I have work right now and you had said to come back and then 15 minutes. Julia stated shes waiting on the people with the tablets, when the people with the tablets are helping everyone that has arrived after me. It's 11 pm, all customer service is closed, and I'm supposed to leave at 4 am to beat traffic for a one-day turnaround. My trip is ruined. My daughter and I were supposed to help my disabled mother and grandmother out of state. I received a phone call the next morning from Julia and she apologized because a van wasn't available but they had some SUVs. I had a reservation and a complementary pick up at collision center to enterprise to pick up rental. I called to confirm and the person gave me a hard time and said they don't do that. I expressed the person that I spoke to told me that. Rudely she said it's gonna be 20 minutes and hung up. Then I was picked up 40 minutes later, I was freezing cold. I get to locations, mind you I was less than a mile round trip, they said 20 minutes wait but in reality we are at 45 minutes with another 25 minute wait. No sure I will ever use this location. Don't give customers a hard time about what they were promised and don't make customers feel bad! Improve the speed of service. All of the items form my car rental where stolen!!!!! I was renting a car while my personal car was in the shop. One day I got two flat tires and had to call the towing service they provide to pick up the car. Since I had a trunk full of stuff and I thought I would be able to retrieve my items later that same day, I left all my items in the car. Was I too trusting....perhaps, But I had two kids with me and I was late to drop them off and I had a doctors App that day. Besides, no matter what, it would be impossible to off-load everything that was in the rental into an Uber then take it with me to drop off the kinds and then take it to my Doc doctors appointment. Perhaps I was too trusting but I thought I would only be away from my stuff for a few hours. Later that day I called to see if I could come get my stuff and Brie (the manager) said that it was at the airport lot and that I had to wait a few days so they could get someone from their location to pick up the car with my stuff. I said I did not mind going to the airport to get my stuff but they said that that lot was employees only. Brie said that she would call me in a few days. I have been calling twice a week since the incident. Today it has been 25 days since my car was towed and I still do not have my stuff. Iv had to file a police report stating that they Stole my items (when else could it be right???) and I may have to take them to court over the items they took from me. read more

On top of the fact that the rent a car and rent a truck employees are rude condescending and extremely unhelpful. They need to fire everyone in here and start over. I would never ever recommend this place. Here's the situation rented a vehicle online at a certain price. Once it goes through, they call you tell you they don't have a vehicle and try to upsell you. They will absolutely not honor the rate you got online and upsell you to the next car. I should've known there was gonna be an issue when I walked in and the enterprise rep was telling the lady in front of us , I don't know why you're yelling at me it's not my fault I can't do anything for you. We've experienced several inconveniences throughout our entire process of trying to rent a vehicle from this location for two days straight. Julia initially seemed to have been extremely pleasant & helpful; however, continued to under-deliver on commitments. She guaranteed vehicles that ended up not being on-site when guaranteed, continued to make attempts at discouraging certain decision making due to under delivering on said guarantees, extremely poor time management (ex. telling us a vehicle could be on site, when it infact was not: 4 times). I haven't rented a car since ~1980 and was somewhat bewildered by the process. Yet all the employees I encountered, beginning with Armen when I first came to pick up the car I'd reserved online, and ending with Brianna and Brandon when I dropped off the car, were exemplary in their interactions with me. Each of them in turn was friendly, helpful, and patient in explaining their roles and how each of them intended to help me understand the process. I, too, work with the public and believe these employees were excellent in both representing Enterprise and in helping a somewhat bewildered, naive person such as myself obtain a rental car (for ~ two weeks, with multiple extensions during that time, both online and in phone calls to this location) and ease my concerns regarding doing so. Should I again require a rental car, I will only look to Enterprise at this location. So I made a reservation in person for a full size car that I would need for the following week. The day comes and I get there at 7:30am they check me in and take my money. They said have a seat and they'll get my car. 15 minutes later still no car and I was very patient I didn't say anything to them I just waited. There were about six people in there all waiting for their cars. So a mistake I made was that I didn't check Enterprise's yelp page or I would've seen all the terrible reviews. Another 15 minutes pass and still no car now I'm starting to get a little impatient. The employees didn't tell anyone that they had to find cars at other locations. Even with my reservation I still had to wait so after 45 minutes of waiting I said I'm sick of this and told the guy I was leaving. He did apologize but didn't explain why we all had to wait so long. Then my lady starting saying it would of been nice if they would've told everyone that there was an hour wait. Then one of the taller female employees with a short ponytail got an attitude with my lady saying that if they would've told everyone that there was an hour wait the customers would've left. Terrible customer service experience. Had the reservation from a few days out and then showed up to get the rentacar and was told they were refusing to give me the car. The manager refused to help and left me stranded outside when i had walked there from a repair shop and had no way of getting home. Overall I am a very disatisfied customer and will not be doing business with enterprise in the future. I will also be recomending others to not use enterprise. Do not count on them to honor a reservation, they will leave you stranded. You are better off rollerblading to your destination than using enterprise. read more
