Had AAA for a few years. They did fine coming out to the house and jump starting the cars if they went dead. But when we broke down on the side of the raod and called then it took them 45 minutes to tell us they could not find anyone available to tow us. Within 15 minutes I phone googled and found a local wrecker company who arrived for the Tow. AAA waste of time and money. Canceled them when I got home. read more

This past Friday the 27th I made my first call for the year. Unfortunately for me my alternator went while I was driving I had replaced the battery the night before thinking that was the issue. I put in a call to AAA at 3:40 they showed up at 7:40 which is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Considering I was right next to an exit. Trying to make a complaint or speak to the right person was more aggravating than waiting for 4 hours I have been a member since 2002 and I'm absolutely disgusted with their service even though they gave me an another year to make up for it I don't plan on using them ever again. read more

My tire blew out on the side of the Eisenhower Expressway with cars flying past my parked car at 70+ mph, less than 6 feet away. I called roadside assistance and they put me as a priority because I was in an unsafe place. She originally said 2 hours before she put it as priority but said it will be much quicker now that she put mine top of list. Well, it took triple A over 3 hours to get to me, leaving me stranded on the side of a busy highway, scared someone could rear end my car at any second. I continued to call every hour, because I was stranded. The lady kept saying "45 minutes" every time I called and then when I waited the last hour, she reduced the the time to 35 minutes. I was appalled by the service I received last night. Real disappointment how when someone is in an unsafe condition and put as a priority, how little that means to triple A. I left my hazards on overnight and knew I needed a jump when I came to my car the next morning and it wouldn't start. Triple A sent two people (one in training) but they couldn't jump my Jeep and told me that I needed a new battery. My car was brand new a year ago so I didn't think that was right but followed the next steps to get it towed to my dealer. When the tow truck came, which was an actual Triple A employee, he said he didn't think I needed a new battery. After calling a colleague from the shop (which was a block away) the car was jumped and started within minutes. I found out the original people that came were from a contracted company. If I followed that advice I'd have towed my car and spent $300 on a new battery. Piece of advice, send your own people, not contractors that don't care about your brand. read more

Do not pay for this service!!!!!!! I had a flat tire on a clear night with no poor weather conditions. I called at 11:46 PM and AAA said someone would be there at 12:30 AM to fix it so I could go to work. Nope. 1 AM I call to see what was the matter. I was told to wait for a call. 2 AM. Still no one to change my tire. They wanted me to pay someone to come change it and reimburse me. I have AAA to avoid paying for this exact thing. I ended up having to fix it myself. Please revisit your contract with "Dispatch Towing" company based in the Chicagoland area. After waiting the required 1hr before arrival the tow driver (Tara Nazal) name on Caller ID called me after 40 minutes of waiting. After my attempt to assist him with directions on a popular interstate, he just flat out said to me he's not coming. I had to call AAA again and ask for a another tow truck to be dispatched. 2hr wait because a driver had no patience or compassion. Bad look for the AAA Company. The second Tow Driver (Tyrece) driving an AAA truck called, and asked for assistance to my location. He was very patient and professional on the phone and upon his arrival. read more

This was the worst experience of my life and I would never renew membership or refer anyone to AAA. Your company cares nothing about your customers only money. I was carjacked and my car was recovered the next day by Chicago police and I on the same block where I was a victim. I called AAA @ 12:15 pm to have my vehicle towed home from the alley where it was left, I also informed them that the police were securing me and the vehicle until towing arrived. We were given an ETA of 2:15, of course the time came but no tow truck. I called back and was told 4:15 same issue no truck. I called back and had the police speak with them stressing the importance of the tow truck and again we were told 5:15, once again no truck so what do we do? We call again and this time was told 7:50. By now everyone cell is alerting of a tornado approaching, it's getting dark and another person was carjacked a block away, I call again with police basically begging for help and was told 8:30. Oh it gets worse, now the tornado has touched down and I'm stuck in an alley in the middle of the tornado with flying debris along with my nine year old son, my husband and the police (thank God we made it through safe). We call again and was told 9:50 ETA. Finally at 10:30 a truck arrived, we immediately received a call from AAA requesting the balance for miles over before the car could be lifted onto the truck. AAA is the absolute worst and should be reported to officials for deceptive practices and jeopardizing all of us who depend on them in case of roadside emergencies. I mean that is why we're paying them correct? To help not hinder. I'd rather depend on dinosaurs before ever trusting in your company again. Wish I could've rated it -10. read more

Terrible experience! Less than a year ago they sold me a battery and I already need it replaced. I was told that the warranty would be good for 36 months and because a member was with me I could get their rate and the benefits of the warranty if I had any issues. That was a HUGE lie because the company claims they cannot help me unless I have the member with me but they can come out and sell me a whole new battery at the non member cost....ummm NO I will take my business elsewhere. I would not be near as upset if the driver wouldn't have told me one thing only to find out it was not the truth and they were very unwilling to help. I hope this helps someone out in the future so they don't have to go through the same frustrations I did with this company. The service has been less than professional lately, especially the 3rd party tow services used by Triple A. One call I was left on the Turnpike for 2 hours just to be towed to another location to wait another 2.5 hours for another tow service. On another call my son was left in a dangerous location for 5.5 hours, while they kept texting that the tow driver was on the way starting at 11:27pm. The tow truck driver didn't arrive until after 5 am. Whoever is running this company doesn't appear to take pride in the services provided to their customers anymore. Triple A used to be a great company that gave quality service. Shame on Triple A for their disgusting services they are now providing. read more

Worst service I have ever received. I have never been charged annually for a service that when needed, they weren't there to provide it to me. My car gets stuck on the side of the road at night and then I'm told I won't be able to get towed until the next morning... it's emergency roadside assistance not next day roadside assistance! I pay them to have the assurance that my car will get taken care of in cases like this and they're not able to provide. It's now afternoon and the first tow truck arrived two hours ago with the wrong info saying my car is "overheating" no idea where they got that from. I have roadside assistance most of the time they do an okay job but today they went above and beyond. I had a flat tire and called AAA for a tow because I couldn't have a spare. They sent Ramon M from Lucky's and his professionalism, friendliness and knowledge was exceptional. He quickly hooked up the vehicle to tow it and once we arrived to the destination he even attempted to put on the spare tire. He informed me the spare tire was under the vehicle not in the trunk. Unfortunately he was not able to put the spare on since I didn't have the proper tool to unhook it but he took his time and was patient with me during this whole process. Not to mention he arrived so quick from the time I called the order in. We also made it to the destination in a time manner, which is something I really appreciate. Thank you so much! read more

AAA Customer service, Keith supervisor was a horribly rude man. Fire him and get someone who is capable of managing the position of customer service. He has no heart. I was quoted a certain $ amount and was continued to be charged $30 over. I told him what crisis we were in and he did not care or budge. Had a tree fall in the road. Blew out both tires immediately. It was dark, cold, I was by myself. Was time to FINALLY use the service I pay for and get some roadside assistance. Was on hold for 25 minutes and not even a pick up of the call, let alone the additional 45-90 minutes they make you wait once you do speak to a person. Useless service. My daughter had a similar experience when she broke down on the freeway a few years back. Ended up paying $82 for a tow from a company that came in 10 minutes. Would never recommend AAA for service, and will never renew going forward. read more

I was in a car accident on I-95 & getting hit at 50 mph was not the worst part of my day. Trying to get my car towed from AAA is the worst part. It has been over 3 hours that I have been waiting for them to get there. If I didn't have someone to pick me up, I would have been sitting there for 3+ hours on the side of a major highway. Triple A has truly loss their touch I have been with them for years and decided to try their auto insurance... All I can say is "RUN" I had the worst unsatisfying experience with a Triple A today 3/30/20 with Beth who works in resolutions she was awful and condescending. On 3/14/20 I purchase a new vehicle and added it to my car insurance I also renewed my Triple A membership that day. The next day I lost my card so I called a Triple to let them no I had lost my card but I gave them the updated card information and asked them to take the payment on 3/27/20 I was told by the representative I had until 3/31/20 when the payment did not come out I called today 3/30/20 to find out why and I got "Beth" who attempted to talk down to me like I was trash. Their customer services really sucks also last year November I had my old Ford tow to my house and the driver bent crack and damage my door I had to stay on top of them to repair that and when I got my new vehicle I had my old car told to the dealership and the guy who tow the car hit another car on its way out of the dealership so I had to give Triple A number to them... I will be canceling my auto insurance with Triple A thanks to mouth almighty Beth... read more

2 bad experiences last summer. Extremely long wait time for assistance and total frustration with their communication. Tonight my daughter was waiting for assistance. After an hour she called back and they told her they don't service her area. She's on her own for towing and they didn't plan to call her back. IT'S JANUARY 7TH AND 10 DEGREES. We are out of state and cannot help her. She's waiting for an uber and paying on her own for towing. A reliable car, not sure why it won't start. Luckily, my daughter is old enough to have a credit card. No one answered when I called trying to find out what's going on. Had the honor of working with Giovanni in Los Angeles and he gave some of the best service I have ever received. My mom and I had a blown out tire and Giovanni stayed there with us the whole time until we got a truck that could tow our SUV. He was incredibly kind and patient and really made us feel at ease through the difficult process. I hope they make him a manager because he's an absolute leader. Thank you for everything Giovanni!!! I called for assistance at 4:45pm was told they will be there at 6:40pm. I waited for 2 hours in 12 degree temperature in my car for no one to show up. I called back to see where they were a female operator answered and said "hold on let me contact the driver ... then hung up". Called back anther female operator answered I was told that my request was sent to another department and can not be switched to primary and she have to transfer me to another department because that's who handling my request. I was transferred over to a line that rang and went to voicemail. I had to call back the 3rd time an ask to speak to a supervisor because I was told again that I will have to be transferred to the same department that went to voicemail. The operator transferred me to what supposed to have been the supervisor phone line stayed on hold for roughly 20 minutes with no answer. Remind you all I'm still in my freezing car. I called back the forth time a gentlemen answer and informed me that he switch my request to primary he contacted the drivers and informed me that they will not be arriving until 9:00pm ( 4hours in a freezing car) . I felt as if AAA do not care about others well-being and it is really no reason to have AAA. Honestly I will not recommend. If I was able to give 0 stars I would. Eventually I had to get in an Uber or freeze if it was up to them . read more

My truck wont start and i have to be at work all week. Call roadside assistance and explain that i need my truck (insured through AAA) towed to the shop from my house (they address they have on file). I left my mother my photo ID and membership card for the driver when they get there and the operator tells me they cant tow my truck because im not there and I am working 6 days a week. absolute crap that they wont tow a vehicle they insured from my physical billing address so im screwed for the next few weeks because of the shifts I need to work and my internet is out so I cant contact them from home. garbage customer service was nice though execution is a dumpster fire. read more

Received call from driver saying he was 15 minutes away at 7pm letting me know he didn't have a battery but could jump the car and then I could find someplace else to get a new battery. I was stuck in a campground in Pine Valley, Utah last Sunday with a dead battery, a handicapped 82 year old man, a little dog and myself--a 67 year old woman. Some kind people stopped to help and drove me from the campground into this tiny mountain community where I hoped to get cell phone service. I called AAA and was told it would take 3 1/2 hours to get someone to us--I made sure they understood we had no phone capability in that campground, that we were older and that the night time temperatures would be below freezing that night. I was assured they had all the information and would come. Four hours later and no AAA. With the assistance of a passing mechanic, we got the car started and, once we were in cell phone range, I called AAA to see what had happened. I was told they wanted to call and tell us they wouldn't be able to come on time but when they realized they couldn't contact us, THEY CANCELLED THE TOW! I've been a paying customer for 30 years and have used road service twice before and THEY CANCELLED???? I wonder what they did before cell phones? Did they not leave people alone in the mountains? Shame on you, AAA. Believe me I will find another company--I do not ever want to be in a situation like this one again! And I recommend you find someone else to depend on as well. read more

I have been a, "Member" of AAA for 20 years. Signed up the day I got my license because I liked knowing that I would be taken care of if I ever got stuck in a bad spot and needed a helping hand. Today I found myself in need of that helping hand. My auto insurance company apparently sent me a form to sign in the mail and because I didn't sign it (because I didn't get it) they cancelled my policy. I found out today while I was at work that I didn't have any insurance. Because I don't want to run the risks of a large fine, getting my car impounded, or getting sued for everything I have worked for in my whole life, I decided not to drive. I called AAA and asked if they would tow my car back to my house while I straighten out my insurance. Nope. "Not our policy to tow cars that aren't disabled." I was frustrated but heald it together and explained that while the vehicle is in perfect working order I am in fact stranded because I cannot lawfully operate my vehicle. 20 years of payments! Out of frustration I asked if they would like me to lie to them or go let the air out of one of my tires. The supervisor informed me that she couldn't recommend that, "Because we were on a recorded line." I was upset when AAA refused to use some discretion in the name of serving a 20 year customer, but when she implied that I should sacrifice my integrity in order to get the level of service that every AAA member deserves, I got downright angry. I asked to be put in touch with someone that could facilitate the cancelation of my service and was transfered immediately. After speaking with a representative who seemed happy to lose my business I asked to talk with her manager thinking I would give one last crack at it. The manager placed me on hold while he reached out to the roadside department management to arrange for an exception to be made. After several minutes he came back on the line and said he was having an issue with his phone but that I could expect to receive a call within 1 minute from a roadside representative that would dispatch a driver. To my surprise the phone rang not more than 1 minute later. She had no idea what the situation was and I found myself right back where I was an hour earlier. I'm so foolish to have thought AAA would stand by me when I needed it. I cancelled my membership and recommend you do the same or better yet don't put yourself in the position to be taken advantage of in the first place. read more

I've always had excellent, prompt service from AAA in California. I was home and tried to start my car at 8 am and it wouldn't turn over. I called AAA and was told it may be 10:30 before I could get service. I explained that my grandson was coming at 9:15 to take my car for his driving test for his license, and that if he didn't make his appointment it would be two months before he could get another one. The dispatcher said she'd try to get someone as soon as she could, but couldn't guarantee it. After hanging up, a AAA tow truck driver called and said he'd come right over. He was at my home in a few minutes, jumped the battery and I was able to drive to the dealer for a new battery. I got home in time for my grandson to go to the DMV and get his license. The tech was so nice and was great. Awesome service. read more

My father was a member of AAA roadside assistance for most of my life. I decided to join and used the towing feature several times in the first year. When my son began to attend college a few hours from our home, I added him to my policy. When the starter on his car began to act up, I called AAA to have his car towed to a mechanic. When the tow truck arrived, instead of towing the car, he began to try to start the car. Amazingly, the car started, so he drove his car to the mechanic. AAA charged me for a tow, even though the car was not towed and my son had a membership with two local tows available. $116.75 to turn the key? Yeah...I am no longer a AAA member. This is a copy of what I just sent to AAA, after they asked me to submit my experience with them... AAA Renewal and a Warrantied Battery On Thursday morning I had a dead battery in my car. When I get home I called my Geico Roadside assistance to get a jump they came out and charged the battery for 15 minutes and then I let the car run for another 10 minutes or so. When I went out later to try to start it, it was dead. Realizing that I had a AAA Battery in my car, that I thought was still under warranty I called AAA Roadside assistance. The Battery was indeed under warranty bought 9/30/2013! 3 year warranty! I told the operator on the phone of my dead battery and recent attempt at a charge. The operator on the phone told me that it could be replaced with a new battery. The only problem was, my AAA membership had expired and I would have to renew. Interesting way to have to honor my warranty, but I had no other choice. The operator told me my technician would be there at 8:45pm, he showed up at 9:00pm. He told told me that in order to replace my battery with a new one he had to run some tests, which he did, and the result was indeed a dead battery. So he went into his truck got a new battery and replaced it. A relatively easy task. He then goes back to his truck to run the warranty and to talk to his supervisor on the phone. This is where it gets unbelievable... The supervisor tells him that there is nothing wrong with my battery and that all it needs in a long charge, he then instructed the technician to remove the new battery from my car and replace it with the dead one. I told the technician absolutely not, then I spoke with the tech's supervisor via phone an told him, I believe his name was Cam, the exact same thing. Now Cam tells the tech he is not to leave the premises without the replaced battery. I basically said that this "assistance" is over and locked up my garage and went into my home. While inside the technician is still in my back parking lot it is now 10:15pm....I called AAA and spoke to Dawn who resolves customer service problems, and explained the situation to her. She them tell me that they can not remove the battery and that any battery that is replaced is then considered a used battery and can not be sold as a new battery. I took the phone out to the parking lot an had Dawn speak directly to the technician. Now another 30 minutes go by and I am once again in my home so it is 11:00pm. My upstairs neighbor knocks on my window to tell me the AAA technician wants to speak to me, and HE HAS NOW CALLED THE POLICE, ON ME! Two police officers are now in the alley behind my home...I go out and I tell them the story and they basically tell the technician he needs to leave....So now while all of this is happening and all my neighbors are watching because the flashing lights of the AAA truck have now woken most up, another AAA roadside assistance truck pulls up, who starts trying to "strong-arm" me into releasing my new warrantied battery to them saying the voltage was high on my car and that I was just going to burn this one out...He also told me that the new warranty will not be honored and i did not receive any of the new paperwork on my battery. Yes Voltage on my car is high, It is supposed to be high...It is a Jaguar, and according to all paperwork they run at 15 volts. I know why my battery died...First it is 3 years old and as I kept telling them I left my fog lights on from 5pm until 8am the next day...So this rather large second technician then proceeds to tell me that the first technician doesn't know what he is doing because he is new... Why would you send people without training, out to assist someone? Are you not endangering the clients who rely on you for help? So to recap; I will have to think long and hard about using AAA again, I felt unsafe, especially when the second technician showed up, had the police not been there, I was not sure what the two of them may have been capable of. No one should feel unsafe when they call someone who is supposed to be sure of your safety. The Technicians finally pulled away from my garage about 11:30pm... My mother has been stranded for 3 hours waiting on AAA. They are a joke. She is stranded in the cold and no one from AAA seems to care. Every time she or I call they change the time to later. I live three hours away at this point I could have come and got her. What's the point of roadside assistance if no one is going to show up? Don't waste your money. I have roadside assistance through Esurance and I have never had to wait over 45 minutes. Shop around for someone else. Their customer service is horrible. They don't care. read more

AAA came through when I needed my car towed to the repair shop. The driver was very nice and professional. The girl on the phone was not as competent, though. She sent a flatbed truck instead of a wheel lift and wasted almost two hours of my time when she could have asked if the transmission was operable upfront. If I could give AAA ZERO stars I would ... we called due to a lock out with a child in the car and I was told they'd be here in 20 minutes, 25 later no one and a call back revealed the woman was not honest and the five times I asked her if the call was elevated and priority she did not mark the call ... luckily local police arrived first and were able to get the car open just after I hung up with AAA. read more

Have had an AAA Roadside Assistance card since 2007. Used it twice- once for jump start, once for keys locked in card. Bought a new car a week ago, and it came with a Roadside Assistance plan, which seems to cover the same things AAA does. Today the car wouldn't start and was having weird electrical issues, so I called them and had nothing but trouble with the operator: couldn't find me listed, couldn't get the telephone or address right, and asked me if I wanted towed, and proceeded to tell me everything this policy *didn't* cover. So I called AAA, they immediately pulled up my records, said it was no problem if it just needed a jump or a tow, and told me the name of the local company that would be taking my call. Very professional, very calm and assuring. I had been wondering if I should still keep my AAA card, now I know. I'm keeping it, they *work.* read more

AAA called at 7PM on Friday night at hotel parking lot near Chicago O'Hare . It was a cold (20 degrees ) ,but otherwise unremarkable evening and they claimed that due to " extreme cold weather we are experiencing a high volume of calls so you can anticipate long delays " I did select their call back option and was contacted in 9 minutes and informed that it would be up until 10 PM before they could handle my call to change a flat tire. That is unacceptable in my book and I think you are better off contacting local vendors that can respond in a more timely fashion. I am done with AAA. They need to be able handle the volume of calls in a more efficient fashion. read more

First time ever with AAA membership, and I think it will be my last! I called for a tow at 915 am on a Saturday. The weather was 40 degrees with light rain. I received two automated calls starting at 1045 and again at 1055 am, asking if service was completed, then nothing until 1115 am. When I called to get an update at 1115am, I was told "Thank you for allowing us to prioritize emergency calls and that I could expect the driver sometime before 130pm." I do not understand, when does light rain and 40 degree temperatures equal sever weather? Four hours wasted for what is promised in 1 hour. Dear AAA, if I ran my business with a promise of service, I would at least have live people to call when delayed, and not wait until the customer calls and then try to explain how sorry you are when your driver does not show up. If you cant keep your promise of service for something simple like a tow, why should we trust you to book a trip for us???? Going back to roadside assistance from my insurance company, at least they have a vested interest in keeping a customer happy. read more

Don't pay for a triple AAA membership for towing and roadside assistance. We paid $85/year for 14 years and when we really needed it they told us they would not tow our broken down car from one dealer to another! Even if we paid their undiscounted rate! It was a joke.
