My mother has been stranded for 3 hours waiting on AAA. They are a joke. She is stranded in the cold and no one from AAA seems to care. Every time she or I call they change the time to later. I live three hours away at this point I could have come and got her. What's the point of roadside assistance if no one is going to show up? Don't waste your money. I have roadside assistance through Esurance and I have never had to wait over 45 minutes. Shop around for someone else. Their customer service is horrible. They don't care. read more

I called AAA which (I have paid into for years) to get my broken down vehicle towed to a repair shop. They said someone was on the way. After 1 hour I called back and they said someone was coming shortly. This scenario was repeated over and over and over! Bottom line after 5 hours no one showed up and the shop was closed. I had to call a friend to come pick me up from 100 miles away and come back the next day and arrange to have my vehicle towed on my own since AAA doesn't show up! AAA came through when I needed my car towed to the repair shop. The driver was very nice and professional. The girl on the phone was not as competent, though. She sent a flatbed truck instead of a wheel lift and wasted almost two hours of my time when she could have asked if the transmission was operable upfront. I have been a member since 2007 and after my experience today I must say the service is horrible. I have had less than good service in the past but today was the topping on the cake. My vehicle was locked and running when I made the initial call. Then about 2-1/2 hours after my initial call I get a call from the driver who stated he just got the assignment. Then he calls me back and questioned why I cancelled the service since he knew I was upset. You got it...I did not cancel the service. I then called a supervisor named Myeshia who was worthless. Her sticky sweet apologies were on deaf ears. What once was a terrific service for women who were stranded has fallen in the last few years. Ladies I would look elsewhere for service. Under no circumstances should anyone pay AAA for Roadside Assistance. I was a member for 9 years and only used it twice. The last time I needed AAA I had broke down on a bridge in an unsafe location. When I called I was told the response time for a tow truck would be with in the half hour. When I got the text update, it said it would be a hour and a half. Feeling that I WAS LIED TO, I immediately called back to complain and got nothing but excuses. When I arrived home using a different towing agency NOT AFFILIATED WITH AAA, I cancelled my membership and expected to receive a refund for the months remaining. I do not use AAA when it cost $90 for a service call, so once they say, unfortunately, this is your fifth call, you will be charged $90 for this before service I decline and find alternative means. For this reason, I always ask if each service is within my membership. I was always told yes. It is within your membership. You still have 2 more calls. So you can imagine my surprise four months later when I was told that my account will be going to collections because I did not pay for a service. One of their own people said this to me "Their system glitched or was down the day of the service you should have not even been given the service if it was the fifth call". What made it worse is that their system had my brother who is just an additional driver as the main driver and was sending him to collections. It is my signature on the documents. I called AAA. Because I ended up in a ditch. I purchase the year membership and I was told that I could get reimbursed because it was a restricted Highway and no other. Tow trucks were allowed. I had a flat tire on my lunch break yesterday. So I called AAA, mind you this was a 43 min wait on the phone until, I could actually speak to a customer service rep. Dispatcher said that the guy would be there by 230. (45 min wait) He came in 25min, great right? Wrong!! I was ready to have my tire changed, lock key in hand. The AAA personnel told me he couldnt change my tire because it wasn't factory rims.....Are you kidding me?! I just had AAA change a different tire 2 weeks ago. This couldnt be true!! So you mean to tell me everyone who doesn't have factory rims, their service is refused?! I buy cars off the lot with rims on them, never seeing the factory rim. I have NEVER seen this in the policy. I've been with them for years!! I'm disgusted. So this had already been over an hour. He calls a tow truck instead to take my car to have my tire changed. This is ludacris! The tow truck took 2hours to come!! Mind you. I get off at 430p. Never made it back to work fooling with AAA. And I wasnt even in the city traffic. I was on the outskirts. Have had an AAA Roadside Assistance card since 2007. Used it twice- once for jump start, once for keys locked in card. Bought a new car a week ago, and it came with a Roadside Assistance plan, which seems to cover the same things AAA does. Today the car wouldn't start and was having weird electrical issues, so I called them and had nothing but trouble with the operator: couldn't find me listed, couldn't get the telephone or address right, and asked me if I wanted towed, and proceeded to tell me everything this policy *didn't* cover. So I called AAA, they immediately pulled up my records, said it was no problem if it just needed a jump or a tow, and told me the name of the local company that would be taking my call. Very professional, very calm and assuring. I had been wondering if I should still keep my AAA card, now I know. I'm keeping it, they *work.* read more

AAA called at 7PM on Friday night at hotel parking lot near Chicago O'Hare . It was a cold (20 degrees ) ,but otherwise unremarkable evening and they claimed that due to " extreme cold weather we are experiencing a high volume of calls so you can anticipate long delays " I did select their call back option and was contacted in 9 minutes and informed that it would be up until 10 PM before they could handle my call to change a flat tire. That is unacceptable in my book and I think you are better off contacting local vendors that can respond in a more timely fashion. I am done with AAA. The roadside assistance is abysmal. You're told a tow truck will be there in an hour. An hour later you're told it'll be another hour. At three hours you're told they knew from the beginning it would be three hours! They don't know why you weren't told that. Based on how this happens it sounds like deceitful wait times are company policy. When you call to complain and cancel your plan you're told even though it says online you can cancel and get a pro rata refund that's not true. There is no refund. You CANNOT cancel. You can only not renew! Supervisors do not talk to customers! No one returns phone calls. Worst service ever. read more

This has been without a doubt the worst customer service I have ever been subjected to. I make the initial call to have them come change a flat. I started myself but Ford vehicles have these stupid caps over the lug nuts that swell up. After getting 4/5 off and getting defeated by the last one, I make the call. 11:00AM - They tell me that someone will be there at 1:30PM (I had no problems with this) 1:30PM - The ETA disappears in the app, so I give them a call and was put on hold for a half hour. After waiting to speak to a human they tell me that someone will be there at 4:00PM 4:00PM - The ETA changes to 23hrs (not a typo). So I call again and was put on hold again for a half hour and they told me the tech would be there within the hour 5:00PM - As the ETA winds down to single minutes, out of nowhere it resets to 1hr 27min. I didn't call this time because I was just going to give up on their crappy service. 6:30PM - Finally a tech arrives in the area but for some reason was across the street in traffic about to drive away from the area where my car was. I had to get out of my car and flag him down before the traffic lights turned green or else my car would be stranded. 6:45PM - The tech was grumpy as all hell and was telling me that his boss was ignoring his work requests. Great management guys. The tech eventually saw that I was just a normal person in a crappy situation and cooled down and even offered me a cell phone charge (after my battery drained from using the app, calling, and looking up alternative solutions). The tech was successful and got the tire on after about a half hour of work. All in all I would say use AAA if you don't mind waiting 8 hours for roadside assistance and talking to recordings rather than people. If you read more

The negative reviews are really baffling to me. I've been a member for over 10 years and seem to need AAA roadside assistance in the Dallas area about once a year for something or another. I can't recall a single situation where the operators weren't very courteous and helpful and the repair person took longer than an hour to be on-site (which I think is reasonable). I have a 30' Winnebago motorhome. Coming back from my last trip I pulled into my driveway and turned around stepping on the brake it went right to the floor! I waited to call AAA till the next morning a sat. since it was late and the motorhome was off the highway. I called them at eight am and told them all the info that it is 30' class A and has no brakes also the weight is 17,000 lbs. An hour and a half later I got a call from them telling me they were on it and would call me right back with an ETA for the tow truck.. Two more hours went by and I got another call from them that they were still working on it!! No word from them and now we are well into the afternoon!! I called again and once more was given the runaround!!! waited another hour and called them once again --- this time I was told that they could not find a tow truck heavy enough on a weekend and I would have to wait till Mon.. I called AAA at eight AM again. OK it's Mon after noon now and I have gone through the same bull that I went through on Sat. I called the towing company that they told me would be here in an hour (that was at 10:18) Five Points Auto in Montgomeryville PA - a George answered the phone and told me that Shawn would be the one to talk to -- I did and he asked a few question about the RV and said he would call back in ten minutes -- he did not -- After several more calls I got to talk to him and he told me he could not do it!!! Another day wasted and BP reaching new levels!! After reading these reviews I see I have loads of company all who wish they could give zero star rating!! AAA is a waste of money and time. read more

I called AAA because I had a flat tire and was stranded on the side of the road. They said someone would be out in a hour to help. I called AAA after an hour and they said they were running a little behind and gave me a new eta. After no one showed up I called a third time and and they said I'm 20 min they would be there. No one ever showed up, I was stranded on the side of the road in the pouring rain for 3 hours. I called the next day, they would had no explanation and would not compensate me for the cabs I had to take and for paying someone else for the service that they should have provided. I just waited 6 hours for my sprinter to be towed 7 miles and the driver showed un with a truck too small. I told them up front at 5:18 that I had a 170" wheel based 2500 sprinter high top and they sent out a truck that has a 160" wheel base limit. He told us he would get us a bigger truck and he never showed again all night. I tried to call AAA and they never would answer the phone. 14 minutes on hold the first time 25 minutes the second call on hold and 45 minutes the forth time. I tried to call the out of state AAA and they have the same person repeating the AAA propaganda over and over and over. I finally gave up and got a lyft ride home to get my car and then went back to the vehicle that needed a tow and spent the rest of the night. It was not in a good part of town and I have put too much work into it to leave it in a bad part of town alone. I pay extra for RV and Motorcycle towing and this is the third time in 5 years that they have sent a truck that was too small. They really failed to fulfil their contract with me. I always tell them right up front what vehicle I have, How long the wheel base is, and that it is a high top. You would think these people had no experience towing vehicles. I need to reinstate my Good Sam's towing program. They deal with motorhome much bigger than mine all the time. AAA towing sucks if you have a vehicle larger than a family sedan. The thing that really made me mad was the fact that they would not answer their phones. Wait on hold until the next available agent. I am not sure they have hired the next available agent yet. I have a battery that was installed in my vehicle in 2019 by AAA It is their battery and has a 3 year warranty. On Sunday my vehicle would not start. When AAA mechanic came he put it on a jump start. Then he tested it and said it was 78. Of course it has a charge. It's on a charger. I had it towed to my mechanic on 08/23/2021 because AAA mechanic said it was the starter. 08/24/2021 my mechanic called and said he tested both the battery and the starter. The starter tested fine. The battery after sitting for 48 hours was 12%. 08/24/2021 a AAA mechanic again put it on a charger and THEN tested it and said it tested at 90%. Of course it will show a charge. My mechanic jumped it at their shop so I could bring it home and the AAA mechanic had it on a charger. Then the AAA mechanic informed me they sell chargers. I asked him if I was supposed to carry a charger with me in case it doesn't start at the store because the battery is defective. I still had 1 year on the warranty on this battery. I cancelled my membership 08/24/2021. Don't ever buy one of their $159.00 batteries. Buy one from Farm and Fleet for far less than that! AAA is worthless as far as honesty!! read more

Have had AAA for yrs. Get stuck in my alley. Called them said would be a HR. Ok I check and tow truck said on scene funny no one where I am at. Call them back your alley is not plowed we can't help. What?! Kinda defeats the purpose of being stuck. If my alley was plowed would not of gotten stuck!! Ask them to please send someone back out about 30/40 ft from the street. Said ok. They called me this time. And said driver took a pic of the back of my car can't help....kinda funny since I had a Very nice person trying to help me get out behind me. Then got oh wait pic if the front of your car. Send me the pic. We cant. I call never happened. I then call my mechanic who give me the company they use. Within about 10/15 minutes of towing express Inc showing up I was out! They did not have to come in the alley just backed up to the beginning of the alley and pulled me out with chains!! I have always had very good service from the agents on the phone when calling for roadside service. The service person showed up to jump start my vehicle and from the moment he arrived he was somewhat over bearing and in my face with implying personal comments and questions. I thought about not responding but I like to see where people of this nature are goin' with it. First thing he says "you don't look happy". cASE # 108249..First spoke with a lady by the name of jai or something and she stated my tow for some reason wont be covered, even though I had another tow on my policy. Call was escalated to a "supervisor" by the name of JILL. very nasty and very uncooperative woman. First they told me the "uncovered tow" was going to be covered and approved. It stated my tow would arrive at 5:24PM on 7/24/19. That tow never arrived. When I called back The "supervisor" informed me she cancelled the tow and it would not be covered. AFTER I WAITED 2 HOURS FOR THE TOW. she did it just to be nasty to me and make me wait. As long As "JILL" is with AAA I will NEVER be buying another membership from your company. very poor wait time for the tow as well. I recommend you getting better supervisors who know how to talk to customers or you will be losing a lot more customers. I was so shocked to read all the issues other reviewers had with AAA. I've had AAA for three years now... decided to get it when my dog stepped on the auto lock and locked me out of my running van with 6 other dogs inside.. cell phone and purse in the van, too. AAA came and got my keys out. I have two older vehicles and things tend to go wrong at random no matter how well I keep them running. Four times in a year I needed a tow and AAA was there with in 30 min each time. Each time, driver was exceptionally professional and courteous. Each time the AAA customer service was exceptionally professional and courteous. I have the premium membership..... and sooo glad I got it. I have 100 miles of tow distance... if I'm towed over 100 miles, I pay per mile. Once I did have to have my car towed 49 miles... and I paid nothing. I LOVE AAA!! read more

My family broke down on the side of the freeway going from Carson City NV to Reno NV and where our car broke down there was nowhere safe for my family to go other than sitting in the car. We were literally on the side of the freeway 3 feet away from vehicles going by at about 70 mph. My husband started a membership and paid a little more to be able to use AAA that day. We were told we would be put on as a top priority because of where we were but instead we waited hours and finally we got the message a tow truck driver was on the way to assist us but the AAA dispatchers had gotten our location wrong so the driver never showed up. My husband had called 6 times to get us help. 6 hours later we finally get a tow truck driver on the way to assist us which had only taken him 22 minutes. To top off the frustration of being stranded on the side of a freeway with two children for 6 hours waiting in a car with no heater in 34 degree weather, the driver told my husband "I don't know why I wasn't contacted sooner because I would have gotten to you hours ago." This was a horrible experience, especially after thinking the AAA was an emergency service we could use at the time and finding out that it was not at all a reliable emergency service. To top it off none of their dispatchers had called to check on us considering where we were stranded was unsafe and we had nowhere else to go. So many people come here to leave negative reviews of customer service. I'm here to do the dead opposite. Nothing but a positive experience with these guys and it's money well-spent. Melody was super helpful and quick to answer on the customer service line. From there, they came out to my house in the pissing rain in less than 20mins from when I initially called to revive my car back to life. They checked my battery and ran an electrical test, gave me a overall diagnosis, and they even offer a service for you to buy a battery on the spot and have them install it which took 15 minutes. Tony the technician was super quick and helpful so thanks to him and Triple A, they saved me a 3 hour trip to Sears Autocenter. Thanks guys and keep up the good work! read more

My daughter is on our AAA Plus plan. She's tried for an hour to call AAA - on all three numbers available on our membership card. Every time she selects Roadside Assistance, she gets a busy signal. Beware of automatic AAA roadside renewal process, especially when they charge an automatic payment to your account. They offer the customer free add on members that are payable after one year. Then when you get the renewal notice that doesn't always list all the individuals you are paying for, convenient huh? So last year they charged me for my son who has been deceased for 4 years, because I didn't see his name on last year's renewal notice. If so, I would have obviously called to drop his name. So when I go to cancel for this year, they tell me I have a surplus in my account for $142. But since I want to cancel my membership, they will not provide a refund. read more

Yesterday my wife and I decided to spend the day in Snow Valley(CA). We had to get our chains installed on the way in and get them de-installed on the way out around 1:20pm. An issue occurred in the de-installation process and both chains got tied up inside the axels of our front wheel drive Camry. However the car hadn't been moved but we were unable to remove them from the back of the wheels. We then called AAA at around 1:30pm and waited at least 20 minutes for an agent to tell us that AAA doesn't deal with chain removal and that it would take 4 to 5 hours to get help for a neighboring garage!!!!! No guarantees that we would get any help, we called Don's Garage to be told(rudely) that they didn't deal with this type of issue. Now we've been AAA users for 30 years, we just paid our yearly membership(PLUS membership), this is not the type of service we have come to expect from AAA!. read more

My wife broke down luckily close to my work. When we called AAA for them to tow her car they were going to leave her and my three small children on the side of the road saying they don't provide transportation. We are about to go on vacation so my wife called and asked if we were to break down in another state if they would be able to pick up all of us with our vehicle. They told her they would only be able to pick up one adult. So if we are in the mountains in the middle of the night near no one we know they will leave my wife and kids on the side of the road. Yesterday I and three other ladies were stuck on Mt. Charleston. Someone siphoned the gas out of my car when we went hiking. At 5 pm I called AAA, they said they would be there in 100 minutes. I was using someone else's phone because my phone would not get reception. The good Samaritan stayed with me the entire time so I had a phone to use. At 7 pm AAA called back and told me their truck will not go up the highway to Mt. Charleston because they felt it was too dangerous for their truck! It's a main highway, I was off to the side of the highway, not even on a dirt road! AAA told me to put the car in neutral and coast it 15 miles down to the bottom of the road. I told them it's getting dark, I have no power steering, there are sharp curves, I will run my battery down and will not have headlights and I will burn my brakes out. They said "I'm sorry, that is what we are telling you to do, and we'll meet you at the bottom of the mountain to tow you from there". I called my insurance company (on the good Samaritans phone). They got a tow truck to me quickly. He hooked up my car and took us down to my house at no expense to me since it was vandalism because someone had siphoned my gas tank. ALWAYS GO THROUGH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY FOR TOWING!!! This tow driver used to work for AAA, he left because AAA did this sort of things regularly to it's customers. The other two ladies with me, (my friend and I were helping because their van was stuck in a campsite very far off the road in a remote area which we took them from and got them to the main highway where we were now stuck). The tow truck driver was going to go back up there and get their vehicle out of the remote campsite when he dropped my friend and I off. He is a hero. I am canceling my AAA account, the two ladies who I was assisting until I ran out of gas is cancelling their account, and my friend is cancelling her account. My friend pays the most because she has the premium account for these type of occasions because she loves to camp. She can't imagine why AAA would not tow a car off the main highway let alone put the tires on dirt to tow her from a campsite if she needed. I can't believe they told me to coast my car off the mountain with no power, no light, brakes burning out and sharp curves so they don't have to waste their time driving up the mountain highway. At 10:30am I got a call from my daughter who was stranded alongside a major interstate. 10:32 called AAA roadside assistance. 10:57 they finally answer and say they will get someone out there within an hour. 11:15 I went online to see if that would be quicker. When I click on roadside assistance it says "unable to complete at this time". Daughter is alone and getting worried. I call AAA again at 11:45. They finally answer at 12:05pm. I am told by agent Michael someone will be there at 2:07pm. I said 'you mean 2 more hours' and he said 'yes mam'. I said no wonder AAA is lucky to average 1-2 stars if it takes almost 4 hours from start to actually getting help. I asked for his employee ID #58707 possibly fake because when I asked for a supervisor I was hung up on. It is a sunny dry day and I see no excuse for such lack of decent customer service. Got a neighbor to run and help her . At 12:20 I got a call from a service station and they had just then been notified by AAA that we were seeking service. I have had AAA for over 20 years. Last Thursday I got a flat tire. Called in to AAA and they told me that they had my location and would be there by 6:10 pm. At 7:00 I called them back, the lady on the phone was rude and short and said that they were doing the best that they could. Ok. So at 7:45 the tow truck driver called me and said I am in East Knoxville. What! I'm in West Knoxville. It appeared that AAA had the wrong address. So I called them back again and went off. The lady was rude again on the phone and was not understanding at all. The poor tow truck driver obviously was the one out on the street that night made it to me at 8:15. He was nice and deserves a raise. As for the other, please find other positions for them. They are no people friendly. Really thinking about not renewing my membership with them. read more
