There are lots of reviews on Yelp that are either a 1 or 5. If you have concerns about Aaero Heating, there is truly NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. They installed my heating and air conditioning system originally in 1988 and provided maintenance and repairs for next three decades, keeping it completely functioning until the compressor died from use. They just completed installation of a new heater and A/C; when the Marin County Building Inspector reviewed their work, he called it "perfect", commenting on some of the things they properly completed that are not always done by other companies. When you purchase an expensive major appliance, such as a Heater and/or A/C system, do not look for "cheapest", as you may get just that ... inferior equipment and less-experienced technicians. I had the annual HVAC inspection and maintenance done by a competitor of Aaero, and was hoping to get an estimate for less than $500. Imagine my shock to get an estimate of $32 THOUSAND!! And hard sell, hard sell, hard sell. I "need" new ductwork, new insulation (some old rat droppings), new AC unit, new everything, and this schmuck didn't even change the air filter. The more I insisted I needed to talk to my CPA first, the more the price came down, and the more I was pressured, but he finally left. A friend I was moaning to later said to call Aaero for a second opinion. They came, they saw, they conquered! Their insp'n/maint. charge was all of $545, incl. a new filter. Ductwork, insulation, AC unit: all good, no issues. My friend did me a solid by referring me to Aaero. They've got a loyal new customer for life. read more

I've been having intermittent problems with the heater in my home (renter) and since Aaero Heating put the heater in some eleven years ago, my landlord wanted them to come and diagnose, and repair the heater problem. They've now been here a total of four times, and the heater still does not work most of the time. The last technician who came out said it was likely a short in the wiring from the heater to the thermostat and they'd have to cut in to the wall in order to replace the wiring. I couldn't imagine that they'd have to cut in to the wall to replace the wiring, but I let my landlord know, and the technician told me they'd be contacting him as well. Nope. They haven't even returned my landlords calls. My landlord came out and replaced the wiring (ironically it runs under the baseboard (no need to cut in to the wall) and the heater worked for a day. Since then it works maybe one out of three days, and only have I bang on it really hard (seems dangerous, I know) JUST because it works after a technician fiddles around with some things does not mean the heater is working properly, because inevitably, only a few hours after they leave, it stops working AGAIN. I'm talking about thermostat set at 70, and it's 50 in the house - something is wrong. This isn't the Aaero Heating of eleven years or twenty years ago. In August of 2017 a technician from Aaero replaced the circuit board on our Amana HVAC at a cost of $570, which I paid. Two months later, in October, the heat stopped functioning. On Oct 26, another technician, serviced the unit ("re-set the limit switch" which means pushing a button) and said it was functioning "cycled system and fan working as it should at this time". I was billed $205 and yet the very next day the furnace was not functioning. A few days later, on October 30, the same technician came back, inspected the unit and said the heat exchanger was damaged from rust and the unit "should not be used as it is unsafe". I do not intend to pay the $205 "repair" as not only was the furnace not repaired it is unsafe and needed to be replaced (which we did using a different company). I sent a letter to Aaero explaining this in November of 2017 and they did not contact me but instead just sent me another invoice for $205. I am hoping to get their attention. read more

Just had Aaero Heating out to fix my furnace. They were quick to answer my phone call and schedule an appointment. Which I appreciate because it's very cold and going without a furnace sucks. I was quoted $129 dollars for a technician to come out and perform a diagnostic. The parts and repair would be additional. Seems reasonable. The diagnostic took all of 10 minutes and replacing the Hot Surface Ignitor took another 10 minutes. The tech arrived at 10am and handed me the bill by 10:26am. $125 in labor for the diagnostic. Okay, that was what I was quoted over the phone. Fair. The Hot Surface Ignitor part is $160! WAIT WHAT?! On Amazon the part is $22.95. Okay, they had the part in stock and warranty the part and their work, still $140 more? $285 for 26min work and a low cost part is unreasonable. Even if I paid $125 just to have the technician walk through the door, then pro-rate their hourly rate to 1/4 of an hour for the repair, that's another $31 more. Definitely getting power from the circuit board so that's not the problem. Definitely the Host Surface Ignitor. I tired to buy the part locally and replace it myself but could not get it (that is how I know it's $22.95 on Amazon and if I could ask my family to freeze through 2 day shipping I would). I shared my diagnostics with the tech. He conducted the same test and came to the same conclusion. The work entailed disconnecting one electric coupler between the circuit board and the Hot Surface Ignitor, removing one screw that holds the Ignitor in place and swapping in a new one. Almost $300 for 25min of work and a part bugs me. read more

We have had a horrific experience with Aaero Heating. We called in service for no heat. The technician was at the property and hot wired the system in attempt to resolve the issue. This fix failed two days later. We were charged $650 for a failed repair. When I called to speak with Dave, the owner of Aaero Heating, he was extremely rude and insulting when I asked for clarification as to why the charge was so high. He refused to answer questions regarding the invoice. One of the charges was $180 just to put a ladder on the roof to see the HVAC unit. Do not use this company. The owner is filled with insults, the charges are inappropriate and the business is unethical. read more

Posting this again here as there are 2 yelp accounts one with Aaero Heating and Air Condition, and the other Aaero Heating and Sheet Metal. THEY ARE THE SAME COMPANY. One star for being able to come out last min on thanksgiving day weekend. I installed a nest system in my home and something went out. I called Aaero, and they were able to come out the same day. First off, they told me the cost for a diagnostic was going to be $125. I'm not sure how i got charged $225 instead, but instead of explaining it, the guy said if he didnt leave in 5 mins, he would have to charge me more. So I just paid the guy. Secondly, I understand that these technicians have to wear shoes in the house, but after leaving there was mud/dirt all over my floors. Third, they told me my dual zone board was out and I needed to replace it and after ONE WEEK, of calling/texting I finally get a estimate albeit it was high. So I did my due diligence and called around for cost estimates/second opinion and got another HVAC company to come out. Turns out that only a fuse on the dual zone board needed replacing! Instead of spending hundreds on a dual zone board, i just had the fuse replace and now everything is working again! Why didn't Aaero catch this the first time around? Instead they wanted me to pay for the most expensive fix. Lesson learned, there is another HVAC person in Novato that is honest and competent! Avoid this company at ALL COSTS. They recently came out to fix my AC system and here is a summary of their shortcomings: First technician Mike came out and diagnosed a bad capacitor and contactor. He replaced the capacitor but had to order the contactor. He also stated that the contractor who installed the AC was "garbage" and our AC unit was from 1989. He misread the serial number since our unit is actually from 2004 (and the company that installed our AC was Aaero Heating & Sheet Metal - this same company.) Second technician Greg came out and replaced the contactor, but wired it incorrectly. As a result our AC system was giving a false reading indicating it was overcharged (so they suggested an appointment to recover R-22 until the system was properly charged.) Since our AC has never been recharged by ANYONE I found this to be somewhat shocking. A third senior technician Nate came out and discovered the contactor was installed improperly causing the condenser fan to run in reverse. He re-wired it properly and the system began operating normally. After multiple calls with Aaero/Arrow Heating & Sheet Metal, they did not believe me when I told them that our system has never been recharged. They had me quite concerned given the issues that can occur with an overcharged system - even if this wasn't actually correct I was still worried. In addition I was without functional AC for 2+ weeks. My house got over 85 degrees multiple times. I decided to call the service manager Ernie, stating my frustration with the experience and he offered to do nothing. The final visit was free however I have lost ALL FAITH in the competence of their technicians. I will no longer be doing business with this company and I suggest you do the same. read more

Our AC unit went out on a 113 degree holiday and Aaero was here the next day to diagnose the problem and fix it within 20 minutes. You can't ask for better service and response time. We called them when the furnace in our Petaluma residence failed. Their tech determined our 34 year old furnace was not worth fixing. We subsequently experienced a number of frustrations in communication with the people at Aaero. Eventually I decided their quote for a new furnace would have to be the lowest quote by far in order for me to put up with the communication difficulties. They were the lowest, but only by a few bucks so we decided to go with one of their competitors. My reasoning was that if communication was difficult before I committed to a big ticket I feared matters would only get worse once I signed the contract. read more

When I called back the receptionist said he never came back and was going to be out having surgery for the next two weeks. I said...but you knew he wasn't available for 2 weeks. You could have just told me when I first called so I could have called another company. She said, sorry I didn't know he wouldn't be back in after lunch. If I could give them zero stars, I would. We have used Aaero in the past, but stopped using them because they failed to keep appointments. We recently moved and decided to give them another chance. When we called in October, they scheduled an appointment 7 weeks out. When the day arrived for their visit, there was no sign of them. We called and were told that they didn't have our appointment on the books, we would have to wait another 2 weeks. We reluctantly said yes. That appointment was scheduled for tomorrow. Today, the day before the appointment, they called and said they could not keep it, that they had a little old lady with no heat to service tomorrow. While I am sympathetic to the lady, why couldn't they fix the lady today and keep our appointment tomorrow? DO NOT do business with these people! read more

Cost me missing two days of work, and they never showed :( Not only that but they never called back after we called into the office five, yes five times. We had an appointment for a Friday morning to remove a duct no longer needed. They called 10 minutes before the appointed time and said they can't make it. . . I had taken the day off to wait for them. THEY rescheduled for the following Monday, and they never showed, never called. We called the office 5 separate times every 90 minutes or so, and each time we were told, "Dave Milano will call you back." Well, Dave never did . . . and I missed another day of work. I have to say that I was very pleased with service I received with Aaero Heating and I would gladly recommend to others. Below is my story if you want the details. Thursday night I noticed that my furnace was not functioning correctly, the fan was stuck on and no heat. Friday morning I called Aaero but I was told they were closed until Monday, Easter weekend. I gave my info and they told me they would contact me Monday morning. Being impatient, I contacted another service provider who was able to come out on Friday. Well let's just say that was a disaster. This guy took $50 and did nothing. All he said is you need a new furnace for $5000. I really felt like I was being scamed. Needless to say, I said I would think about it and would wait for a second opinion. Well Monday came and Aaero called and (Kevin) was at the house before 9:00 AM. They actually diagnosed the issue quickly, had the parts in the truck and had my heat back on in under an hour, all for a price that was not shocking. Kevin did mention that it may be time to start looking for a new furnace but the parts he replaced should keep us up and running for several years. He was honest and knew what he was doing. He made my day. I would highly recommend Aaero to anyone looking for service and I know who I will start with when it's time for a new furnace. read more

These folks helped me out a couple years ago when my control module went kaput. A simple fix was to make a harness by looping some zip ties to fight against the gravity of the wiring harness and was charged a reasonable fee. That worked as I mentioned for a couple of years. Finally, the module started to malfunction again, and the replacement was reasonable with the part still under warranty. Very prompt and quick I might add. 5 stars for not trying to upsell me a load of horse pucky. read more

Stay away from this company!!! 7 or 8 years ago they came to our place 5 times to fix (I should say: try to fix) our heater and every time they charged us (for what??) - Since the service "technician" was unable to understand and repair the issue he finally got the big guys involved which turn out we got a call from an Aareo Sales person wanting to sell us a band new heating unit for 7 or 8 k!!! Already at that point I had spent close to $600 with no results so I finally decided to stop the "bleeding", cut my loses and call someone else. I got in touch with another company (from Mill Valley) came right away, when they arrived we weren't even home but they were able to fix the problem anyway within the hour for a third of the cost what Aaero charged us. For many years, company had a stellar reputation. However, based on personal experience, the brand and quality of the systems they now sell is well below average and subject to frequent repairs. Initially, Aaero will likely be one of the least-expensive quotes you receive for new system installation. BUT there will be a reason for that: the quality of the products you are being sold and the subsequent expensive repairs that will be needed. Before you buy from them, verify the EXACT brand and model they will be selling you. Don't let them use abbreviations on the quote; have them spell out EXACTLY what they are selling you. Then do your research on what you are being sold. Unfortunately based on what I thought was Aaero's 'stellar reputation,' I did not do so and so I have primarily myself to blame for the problems that subsequently occurred. I got what I paid-for: a new system of a lower quality. But what really stands out is how Aaero handled the eventual problems. My guess is that, with research properly done, you will decide to go with another vendor. If you do decide to buy from Aaero and any subsequent problems occur (mine while very new and still under warranty) and you express any level of concern whatsoever about the high labor repair charges or how/why the problem needing repair occurred, expect that the owner will, at first, take your call but then simply ignore you and not call-back after promising to do so. Nor respond to multiple follow-up phone calls. No matter how polite you are to the staff, no matter the compromise solutions you propose and no matter how many messages you leave. If there's an eventual problem with work that Aaero has done or a system they have sold you: expect to be ignored and have to go elsewhere. Eventually, I had to have an inspection and buy full replacement from another dealer. Only to find out the problem with my still under-warranty system from Aaero was metal filings in a line that Aaero either had failed to clear properly at initial installation or metal filings that were being created within the unit itself (essentially, either an initial improper installation or a product quality problem as the new system was slowly disintegrating bit by metal bit). And still, Aaero's owner would not return my phone calls. I've never said this before about a merchant: Buyer beware. Be forewarned. Be careful. Do not rely on a past reputation. Do your research, do your research, do your research. And check and compare with other vendors. read more

Aaero Heating failed in almost every aspect of service, workmanship and billing, and I would strongly discourage use of this company. I initially contracted with Aaero to do some basic duct work that included the fabrication of a custom steel vent box within a closet space. The workmen were friendly and efficient, and I thought I had found a long time HVAC sub-contractor. However, then the job went to billing back at the office. Weeks past, and I made numerous phone calls and emails to the office asking them to bill me, so I could accurately bill my client. I received no response from anyone. I finally received an invoice almost 10 weeks after the work was done. I immediately called the office to discuss, as the bill was significantly higher than expected, and I had completed my work (and billed my client) at this project over 6 weeks prior. Again, no return phone calls despite numerous attempts. Finally, about 2 months later, I was contacted by their collection department. I detailed my concerns, and was told that Dave, the owner, would call me. No call for over a month. Etc., etc.... Months later, I was finally able to talk to Dave, and after some rather disrespectful negotiations, where he neither apologized for the slow billing, or even acknowledged my attempts to contact his company with no response, we settled our accounts. Flash forward to the first winter chill, when my clients turned on their furnace. The custom steel box had broken seems, and the hot air came pouring out into the closet, and NOT into the back bedrooms where the duct work was supposed to go. I immediately called Aaero asking them to service the work they had done. Again, no return phone call. I finally spoke with the office receptionist, who informed me that Dave would not be calling me back. Since I expressed concerns about his billing process, he is now refusing to stand behind work he did only 6 months prior, and she told me to call somebody else. Bad workmanship, bad billing, bad service, bad ownership equals BAD BUSINESS. Don't use these guys. read more

My AC was broken and in the middle of a heat wave so it was tough to get a vendor to come out in a very short time. I called Aero plumbing and they were able to come out within 48 hours which I could live with to have the problem resolved. I then went online with yelp and saw that they did not have many reviews and the reviews posted were not as good as they could be which made me very nervous of course. But since I did not have much of a choice I went ahead and scheduled a visit. In the meantime a neighbor advised me that the AC units we all had in the development were starting to go out as they were installed at the same time and that most likely it would be a capacitor that was defective. Sure enough we saw ours fit the description of a blown capacitor and thus I had an idea of what was needed. The technician showed up on time and immediately recognize the same defective part which was the capacitor. He replaced it and had the unit up and running within 20 minutes. I felt very comfortable with the technician and definitely felt like he was not trying to do any unnecessary work or trying to upsell anything to me. I was greatly relieved about the Aero experience and the professionalism of service so I would not hesitate to recommend them based on my experience and the small cost involved of having this problem fixed. I would use them again and have since found out that they have been in business for a very long time which speaks to their service model. Not sure why their earlier reviews were less than positive but for me they were great! read more

These guys saved the day! Our ability to control our A/C has been very erratic, and completely stopped working just as the 95-degree weather arrives. At at 2:30pm on a Friday, I started to panic. I called 2 other companies before Aaero - both told me that they couldn't send anyone until next week. Called Aaero in San Rafael, and Chris tracked down on of the service guys who was finishing up a job in the area. He was here by 3 pm. Amazing response time! Within 20 minutes, Tony diagnosed the problem and provided me with options for replacement thermostats. He was very patient as I weighed the decision of having him install it vs. save some $ by doing it myself. I decided to have him install it - and very happy I did. I don't know how all of their costs compare to their competitors, but their diagnostic visit fee was $105 compared to $188 and $165 for the other two companies I called. We received excellent service - both Chris & Tony were so professional and timely - I would definitely recommend them to fellow Yelpers. read more

Furnace ignitor...simple problem, simple solution, $30 part as per any online dealer or even Rubensteins' parts in San Rafael that had a universal replacement (w/wire ties & adjustable fitting hardware) for $28. I actually R&R'd the part myself on SuperBowl Sunday to confirm the diagnosis & the Amana 80 fired back up to get us going temporarily. Bottom line- I booked an appointment at the $105 diagnostic price plus the cost of parts thinking that it couldn't be too much more than $60 if they doubled the $30 part price, so I was willing to fork out maybe$150-175 for something I'd already done once but now definitely needed a new Furnace ignitor. How a company can in good conscience charge $135 for the part(the universal one, not even the Norton 271M that was factory & prices out @ about $30) is beyond price gouging as near as I can tell. I have a paint contracting biz & know many others in the trades & no one I've run into marks up their parts 400% !!! I actually tried to appeal to the "Small biz" mind set & local vendor mind set with out the slightest impact. I trust that in their case, what goes around comes around. read more

here is the experience with Aaero Heating: ------------------------------------ Jan. 3rd, 2011 Dear Chris or to whom this may concern, We received the bill today, and I would like to share my experience with you for your coming out for estimate of the furnace not working. When I called you in the Dec. 15th 2010 morning, you and I talked and you quickly found Tony to come out in the same afternoon to the house. That was great. I have asked you to have Tony call me when he is at the house and you promised that he would call. However, Tony did not call me from the house while I was waiting for the call. Instead, our tenant called me and let me know that Tony came, does not have a part to fix it and will need to order it. Then, I called you and finally I got to talk with him. When I asked why he did not call me, and Tony said that he did not have the part to fix, so he did not call, which did not make sense to me as a reason. But I thought people forget things, so I was not happy but accepted that at that point. He explained to me the control board is broken and need to replace it, so will give me the estimate later in the day. At that time, I asked him specifically if the ignitor or heating valves are ok, and he said they were fine. On the next day, Ernie called me and gave me the estimate, which he faxed to me. It said the control board needs to be replaced but everything else is fine. Ernie said that he will order and get the board on 17th and won't be able to install it until 20th, Monday or later. Our tenants needed the heat right away, and the control board replacement is simple to fix, I decided to replace it myself. So accepted the diagnosis charge trusting what they both told me. When I received the replacement board and installed it on Saturday, 18th, still the furnace did not fire up. I checked everything and the ignitor, which both Tony and Ernie said was fine, was being kind of white. I tested the voltage coming to the initor and made sure that about 116V of expected voltage is there when it is fired up. I went to home depot to find the ignitor with no luck, and it was already after 6 pm and other shops who would carry them are already closed and they are off on Sundays. So we had to wait for Monday to go to a store and replace the ignitor. After changing the ignitor, the furnace was fixed. Because of the false diagnosis, our tenants had to suffer extra days without heat. Because of this, we compensated them with $150. Talking back to Ernie on the same Monday about the diagnosis, all he said was that the estimate was based on Tony's diagnosis and insisting that it was right. When I tried to explain further with our situation above, he yelled at me saying "if you don't pay, we will sue you, and we do this all the time!" and hang up on me. We really do not feel it is fair to charge us for incorrect diagnosis or treating me like that on the phone, plus we even lost $150 extra for compensation to tenants. I wonder if you could do something about it. If you still feel that it is fair to charge us for that diagnosis, I will pay you. Please let me know what you want me to do. ----------------------------- when we called a week after the letter, they said that they would contact us to talk to us about it, but they never did and just sent another bill. we just paid the full amount of $105, however we really felt that this should be heard by others, who are thinking to try them. our experience with them was no good, and we would not use them again even if they pay us. finally, we hardly critisize others but this incident was different from our occasional negative experiences with other companies in the past. read more

If you're looking for after hour or emergency service, this is not the company to call because no one answers the phone outside the hours of 8-5 Mon-Fri. I had a issue with my server room air conditioner and a tech came out who diagnosed that our unit had a bad valve (after 10 minutes of looking) and said the part would not be available for another week. I explained that this was urgent and that I could not afford to go a whole week with out air to our server room. The tech then said "well go rent a spot cooler"..no recommendations of where. I later received a quote that the cost for the valve replacement and recharge of the system would be about $2500. I ultimately found another company who came out on a Sunday and fixed the issue which by the way was not a valve issue. The system simply needed Freon! I called Aaero back Monday (because they weren't open Sunday) and talked to the sales manager explaining how unsatisfied I was and his reply was "Well it looks like you were taken care of, good bye" - and then he hung up. I would say that these guys are probably okay for your standard household heating or A/C repair needs. We called them out regularly to deal with a finicky 30+ year old system at our business and they were pretty responsive and efficient. However, this all changed when we contracted with them to install a pricey $$$$ rooftop A/C at our new business location. Poor communication on estimates and follow up billing, poor communication with subcontractors, and they ended up charging us for items that were not needed (but because of lack of specificity on contract, we had to pay anyway). To top it all off, they did not double check the roof at the end of the install and left a gaping hole that would have leaked if not checked by our landlord. Hands down. One of the worst in Marin County and I only wish I had read all these negative reviews BEFORE engaging this firm. They are all true and I experienced much of the same. The owner is rude, doesn't return ANY of our calls, has an arrogant attitude and seems to always be 'away on vacation'. I spent a lot of money to have new ducts put in, registers, heating, etc. and they did not put the correct load in for the size of my furnace (per competitor I had to hire). The system was loud and very disruptive which they promised to tend to at the installation. Instead it was not done and I called Dave, the owner who told me they would have to charge another $800. to come out and 'quiet' the system. I made the appointment anyway and then he called and cancelled! Had a bigger job, no doubt. I called twice more and left messages for the follow-up and no return calls. Finally, I reached Dave (months later) and explained that my filters would not stay in place and kept blowing upwards and out of the register...sent him pictures, explained the filters were the right size---same as what they put in, etc. He replies with saying I need a whole new register! Not at all the problem and he suggested I have them come out and replace the register...absolutely not necessary. I called his competitor who solved the problem and said there was nothing wrong with the register---it was perfectly functional and in good shape. I won't repeat what they said about Dave and Aaero. Problem solved quickly and they absolutely knew right away what the issue was and it was soooo simple...Aaero should have known but trying to make even more money off me with a bogus repair job. Needless to say we are angry about this and at least venting here helps a bit...but company is definitely unscrupulous. I feel sorry for anyone hiring Aero without first reading all these Yelp reviews! read more

I have had my furnace fixed twice (once for a control board, once for a gas valve) and they are outstanding. They are available at short notice, they always have parts on hand and can fix the problem in less than 1 hour. Their employees are clean and well-spoken and not the kind of people you would fear having in your home. read more

To start, yes, Dave is sarcastic and a smart ass but he warned me upfront which I appreciated and then I too could be a smart ass in return I called to get AC install estimate and he was out the next morning, was very fast and efficient, saved me from some headaches and expenses in the future by educating me. He surprised me during this heatwave and started the work about 4 days early! His staff was very friendly and so were the contractors that were out doing the job! They are respectful of my home, clean and friendly! read more
