THE FOOD! I was in a quick break from work and decided to give this place a try... I hadn't had great Nepalese food since moving from Cali.. This restaurant is a small place.. but with cozy ambience.. the kitchen is right there so you can watch your food being made. We had the fried rice, chicken tikka marsala, garlic naan and Choila.. perfect medium heat.. the spices were nicely balanced and SO tasty. For dessert, HOMEMADE Tiramasu and Rice pudding. Aama Lama turned the dimly lit Indian take out joint into a intimate and cozy atmosphere. I loved how they opened up the space and immediately made the place bigger. Reservation is highly recommended as we almost got turned away. Thukpa noodle is a must as the broth is super rich (def bone broth simmered for hours). The pearl like noodles are cooked to perfection. Please ask for the earthy home made chili sauce to spice it up! You cannot leave a Nepalese restaurant without trying momo (dumplings). We tried the regular steamed pork momos and jhol (with sauce) and they were both flavorful and juicy. I ordered takeout from here. I got an order of the chicken momos, garlic naan, and the matar paneer entree. It was pretty busy on a Friday night, but the food was ready when they said it would be by. The workers there even called me after to make sure I had everything, so I appreciated them going above and beyond! It's rare for me to praise food, but wow this meal impressed me, and I have been thinking about it ever since. The juiciness and flavors of the momos, the dipping sauce, the softness and gaRLICKY of the naan. The PANEER, I've never had it and I wanted to try something different, but wow the butteriness paired so well with the sauce. The food wasn't super oily or salty which I loved. Recently tried this family-run restaurant for takeout because the space is quite small with limited seating. It was delicious!! My favorite dish is the pork steamed momos with spicy sauce, the skin is nice and thin, meat is well seasoned, and the sauce is so good I could drink it. Came here on a Sunday around 1 PM to grab lunch with a friend. Aama Lama is a lovely little family owned Nepali restaurant. There are about three or four sit down tables for two and four high top seats against the wall. It was pretty busy with no availability at a table so we grabbed the high top seats. This was fine for the most part, but we ended up just standing instead of using the stools and definitely found that there wasn't a lot of countertop space for the amount of food we ordered. We ordered the pork sukuti, chicken chili, steamed pork momos, chicken choila, and the goat thali. The sukuti, chicken chili, and choila were all lovely. They had great spice and flavor to them. The momos were succulent and the sauce (achar) that came with it was great! I think in the future I'd pass on the goat thali and try something else: I thought it was interesting, but the flavors were very muted when compared to the other dishes. Overall, I'll definitely be coming back to try a few more menu items that caught my eye. I'd say if you're in the area then it's worth giving this place a shot since they have some crowd pleaser dishes as well as very authentic Nepali dishes! Aama Lama is a great new spot in the Malden area! This new restaurant has some great Nepali dishes and I'm glad we stopped by to check it out. When you walk in there's a few tables in the cutely decorated space. I would definitely recommend calling ahead if you plan to go in person just in case or ordering takeout. The menu has a lot of great options including some delicious drinks. We tried the limeade, momos, matar paneer and vegetable thaali. All the dishes were super freshly made and flavorful. This is a very easy recommendation! Staff is warm and friendly, restaurant is cozy and cute, and the food is excellent. Great depth of flavor, made with a lot of passion and attention to detail. Everett/Malden have a disproportionate amount of Nepali restaurants and this place stands out among the pack. I'm genuinely looking forward to coming back. My only note is that the standard level of spice is quite mild. If you ask the server, they're more than happy to increase the heat to your taste. read more

I finally got the chance to try this place since it opened! It's a small cozy restaurant serving tasty Nepali dishes! It's a great place for a date night and also for take out! I decided to give this hot new restaurant a try because I was craving something different--and let me tell you, I'm glad I did. It's a small Nepalese spot, but don't let its size fool you. The food here packs a serious flavor punch, only made better by the kind and accommodating staff. I jumped right into the food with their sweet and tangy chicken chili. It's marked as spicy, but I found it to be pretty mild. Still, it was incredibly flavorful and delicious. The sauce was killer--perfect for scooping up with the garlic naan, which came in a generous portion, or for smothering over the rice that comes with the entrée. I also ordered the fried momos (you can get them steamed too), and they were filled with super flavorful, juicy pork. Everything was on point. And I cannot forget to mention... THE BANANA PUDDING! WOW. This was the surprise of the night. I wasn't even planning on getting dessert, but figured I'd ask just in case something caught my attention. Most of their desserts are made in-house, including the bread pudding. The waitress recommended it, so I thought--why not? Man, I'm glad I didn't pass on it. I absolutely loved it. If you could take bread pudding and turn it into a cool, creamy banana pudding, this is what you'd get. It almost looked like ice cream, but it was this smooth banana cream with what seemed like soft, broken-down cake, bits of caramelized banana, all topped with a crispy wafer. Tried Aama Lama for the first time tonight; did take-out. Got an order of the steamed chicken Momo - fantastic start to the meal. The garlic naan was flavorful, soft, and garlicky, as expected. My wife got the chicken tikka masala, which was very tasty, and I got the goat curry. I've never eaten goat nor a Nepal-style curry before, and I was very impressed. I will say that the goat was a little bit tough and with the bones it was a bit hard to eat, so I might try the chicken next time, but the flavor was great and the curry was absolutely delicious. One note, we ordered both dishes "mild" spiciness, and they were very mild indeed - I really didn't get any heat from the curry at all, and only a little bit from the tikka masala. I'm not a big fan of that kind of capsaicin-forward heat, so I was perfectly happy with that, but to anyone else keep in mind that if you want heat, don't be shy about it when you order. read more

Every dish was so flavorful and you can tell they use good ingredients. If you're into super spicy food, I would recommend asking for extra spice. I ordered online and everything was ready really quickly too, I was surprised! The ladies who helped me get my order were also so sweet. I wish them and the restaurant nothing but success.
