This place is good for authentic Nepali food but not that great for any Indian curries based on my experience. The veg Sadheko Momo ( a must try ) and the Jhol Momo were great, the Noodles were good, but tried their paneer tikka masala and malai kofta and both turned out to be just ok. Both curries were too watery and could have been thicker and flavorful. Naan was ok and the kulcha was the same as Naan with onion stuffed in it. Wouldn't try any Indian curries again out here. The vegetable pakora is very good. The rest of the meal is competent if not slightly overpriced. Price is not outrageous, but there are other options, especially in nearby Dublin, that offer comparable if not superior food for a little less. If you have a hankering for Indian/Nepalese food and are already in the area, Aama's will suffice. Maybe I don't appreciate the finer points of Nepalese food vs India cuisine, but maybe most other diners will fall in a similar category? Friendly staff, clean eating area, ornately decorated. We're always excited to give a new place a try, especially one that is earning positive Yelp reviews. We were told they had their grand opening three months ago. The host/server has a very happy and personable demeanor. He welcomed us warmly as we waited outside for our friend. We decided to order chicken momos to start. They reminded me of chicken dumplings with a slight kick and it came with a nice light dip. We all enjoyed our first time eating momos. During the weekday, they offer lunch specials so we ordered two chicken saag and one butter chicken lunch. The lunch specials come with a small serving of items including your entree, yellow dal, salad, papadum, naan bread and rice. The dal was delicious and my butter chicken was a delight. The guys enjoyed their saag too. The dishes are a nice serving for lunch. We liked the variety on our plates and it was a well-balanced meal. We would not hesitate to order the butter chicken and saag again. Their full menu is varied and extensive. This restaurant is next door to Terra Mia. It replaced the longtime establishment, China Villa. The interior is decorated tastefully and it was a comfortable space. There is plenty of parking shared with other businesses. read more

Came here for lunch with some coworkers. Be mindful of your time because they are not quick to bring out food. When we went there was only one other table with a group of six and we were a group of three, and it took a while to get our food. The staff was polite and the food was presented nicely and portioned just right. I had the coconut chicken medium spice which was delightful. I liked the small metal bowls the food came in it felt more authentic. I also had a side order of garlic cheese naan which was plenty for my meal and was worth every penny. I had leftover naan I took home to enjoy the next day. I didnt get any pictures of the food because I was in a hurry but all of it was tasty. I would definitely come back but maybe for dinner when I have more time to spare to enjoy my meal. read more

Overall we had a good dinner at Aama's kitchen. The restaurant was very cute and warm feeling. We ordered pani puri, chicken, and multiple momos. The pani puri was okay - I found it extra cold so it was a bit of a shock in my mouth. It could use more tamarind as well. The momos were overall okay. We got Sadeko, c momo, steam and Jhol. Our favorite ended up just being the classic steam here. The sauce was better here too. We stayed until the restaurant closed and the workers were all very accommodating. read more

This one hurts, man. I ordered two chicken tikka masalas. Every time I've ordered chicken tikka masala before, it's been really good but this time, it didn't taste like chicken tikka at all. It tasted like watered down butter chicken with no flavor. When I called to let them know, the gentleman on the phone apologized and said they would note it for the future... lol. So I asked if there was anything they could do, and he said they could remake it if I came back. But after a few bites, I didn't feel like driving back I was already over it and didn't want it anymore. So I asked if they could just refund one of them since I didn't eat the other. He said he needed to talk to the manager and called me back, asking me to drive the unopened one back to get the refund... lol. I was kind and honest with the guy, but it's absolutely absurd that I needed to drive back just to return it for a refund. read more

We had takeout from Aama's a couple times, so it was finally time to visit in person. Aama's has been usually quite empty when I stop by. This was a Sunday evening evening at 5:30, no exception. The initial service was good. I ordered a yellow lentil soup, and mixed vegetable.pakora, both reasonably tasty. The Wife had veggie korma, very mild, and clearly not made with frozen veggies, while I ordered paneer tikka masala medium, and we were both pleased. The korma was appropriately mild for her. No dessert tonight, alas. But I did have a glass of Barbanera sangio, which went well with the creamy sauce. The service slowed waaay down when we were finishing up, which we thought was odd considering we were either alone, or almost alone in the dining room the whole time. But I understand that there's one guy serving,who is also manning the phone and preparing takeout packages. Small restaurants are like that. read more

Really nice Nepali restaurant very close to Livermore downtown!! They have the best steamed momos in town - soft and succulent meat and very juicy. I enjoyed lunch here on a Monday around noon. It's fairly new just opened last month Dec' 25. Mostly empty inside just one party having a meal in the corner. I was greeted right away and was given the choice to sit wherever I wish. Got the menu, fairly large and well constructed menu and some cold water and a glass. I didn't have room for any appetizers like momos or pani puri so I just went with the goat thali with is basically a huge circular steel plate with everything except naan. The pics I post will give you an idea. It even came with a delicious gulab jaman. Server asks spice level I replied mild but it was barely any no prob Inreally don't consume that many spicy peppers anymore anyway. The rice was abundant and I finished almost everything was asked if I needed a box container for the food leftover I declined. Place has plenty of free parking inside is really clean and service is super attentive. There are several other locations across the bay. This is a sign of successful restaurants when there multiple sites. Next time will try the momos and chicken etc. This is an awesome addition to Livermore not far from downtown maybe 1-2 miles . The goat was descent had bones in it nothing to rave about but I won't judge ultimately from my first visit . read more

The Butter Chicken and Tofu Tikka Masala were delicious, the tofu so soft and one wouldn't know that it was not Paneer. I've been a fan of Aama's Kitchen (Hayward) and have been there multiple times. Was super excited to try out their new opening at Livermore, but the food was disappointing. Lacked flavor, salt and spice. We ordered Gobi Manchurian (felt like Gobi Pakoda, was not well done from inside) Chilli momos were below average (was too ketchup-y) and the Chowmein, which I was looking forward to the most, had no salt and very less spice, in-spite of asking for extra spicy while ordering. Upon giving the feedback about the Chowmein, the owner said they specifically put less salt in all dishes. But it felt weird because other dishes had the correct amount of salt. Service was quick, the owner was responsive, but he couldn't do anything about the lack of taste/flavor. He apologized, which was sweet, but the food really was nowhere close their Hayward standard. Ambience was better than the Hayward restaurant though, much bigger and more seating. read more

New Indian Restaurant right by Li Cha Tea! Spacious place, gave off a fancy dining kind of feel. Only ordered to go so far, not entirely sure about indoor experience, but the people in the front are nice and answered whatever questions I had. They finished my orders pretty fast and consistent. Had them 3 times and my orders always came out by 15-20minutes after ordering. I have no real complaints, that's why 5 stars! I enjoyed their butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and their shahi paneer. Smooth flavors, spiced and creamy. I will say however, they're not that spice compared to other places. I say that, because I usually struggle eating medium spicy, but I was able to eat their normally already spicy chicken tikka mandala. So if you like your food spicy, let them know and they will add more kick for ya! read more
