Such terrible service from the owners. Seated us in a dark corner, and was visibly annoyed when we asked to turn on the light. We waited for anyone to show up to provide menus. We walked to the front to pick up a stray menu. When the owner finally arrived she slammed the water jug and empty glasses and turned back. No acknowledgment. We decided to walk out. I don't know what the other 2 yelpers experienced, but in my visits, the hospitality and customer service at both of their restaurants have been consistently top-notch. I've been a regular at their Saatvik's restaurant in Fremont, which is how I first got to know their food and their family. It's a family-run place--not a corporate chain--and you can really feel that personal touch. There's something special about supporting a small business that delivers authentic, home-style flavors. I always order the Delhi-style Chole Bhature, and I highly recommend you do the same. It's the only place in the Bay Area that truly gets this dish right. I was born in New Delhi, and this brings back the flavors I miss every day. As for the ambiance, this location is more spacious and polished than Saatvik's, which is definitely a plus. Don't skip the kheer--it was a pleasant surprise and absolutely delicious. We'll definitely be back soon! read more

Good food, the weekend Thali was nice, satvik, very home-style food. Warm rotis out of the Tava were delightful. My favorite was kathal (jackfruit) curry and their Rice kheer (pudding) was indeed mouth watering. Good vibes, family like environment. The Bombay Sandwich took a little longer to arrive but had great flavors (would have liked chutney condiments). Overall a good addition to Bay area Indian vegetarian food.(They have their other parent restaurant called Satvik at Fremont). The menu is short/limited till 4/5. I ordered the Mirchi Bajji and the Paneer Kathi Roll, and neither was fresh.Mirchi Bajji: Looked absolutely nothing like the appetizing pictures on their website. It was cold and tasted like it had been pulled straight out of the refrigerator and poorly reheated.Paneer Kathi Roll: The paneer was incredibly hard and rubbery. In case you're not aware, its sister branch of Saatvik in Fremont. Honestly, if I had known they were connected, I would have avoided it because the food here is a massive letdown.Nothing looked like the pictures on the menu. The Chingari Chaap had absolutely no fire or spice to it; it tasted just like a regular, basic chaap. The Chole Bhature was a greasy mess. While the chole was okay, the bhatura was thick, completely uncooked in some spots, and literally swimming in oil.The Biryani was just plain white rice mixed with some random vegetables, salt, and chili powder--no depth or actual biryani flavor at all. The Aloo Paratha stuffed filling was incredibly bland. To make matters worse, the Dahi Bhalla Papdi Chaat used sour, stale yogurt, and the papdi had that distinct, unpleasant smell of old, reused oil.The ambience and location are just okay, nothing special. I truly don't understand how this place has such high star reviews because the food quality is not there. I won't be returning and definitely do not recommend it. read more

Terrible Thali - all the vegetables were cold, saag was extra salty. Mutter mushroom was watery, jackfruit was stale. Gobi munchurian was not bad, chow mein was half cold and half warm, assuming it was not fresh and was reheated. They forgot one dish, brought it out quickly once reminded tho. Went with a group of friends and enjoyed a variety of items from their grand opening menu. Dahi papdi chaat was one of the BEST I've had in years! Samosa chaat was delicious as well as chow mein, chilli paneer, fried rice and Gobi Manchurian. Also tried their Thali - all curries were well balanced in authentic taste and flavors but paneer makhani and saag paneer deserve special mention. Although we wished to try more items (eg chole bhaturey, and tawa paneer sandwich) we ran out of room in our well stuffed bellies. The owners were friendly, warm and welcoming. Great experience here during their opening weekend. Had a nice time with our group of friends. First off the food was terrific - we tried a number of different items ranging from the thali, to chaat, to Indo Chinese fusion - all items were great and not oily. Also appreciate that the restaurant is pure vegetarian. Want to comment on the service as well which was outstanding - everyone from the staff to the management was very friendly. I would not recommend this restaurant. We visited Rasraaj in Dublin recently and were met with incredibly poor service and an even worse attitude from the owners. The staff explicitly offered us the "unlimited thali" and confirmed multiple times that we could get curry refills. However, when we actually asked for more, the waitress informed us the owner told her to stop because the "unlimited" offer was no longer valid. When we asked to speak to the manager about the discrepancy, he was dismissive and rude, blaming us for "not reading the menu" where the offer had apparently been crossed out--despite his own staff recommending it to us as an active item. To top it off, they served us fried rice instead of the biryani we ordered. Mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability and the hostile attitude from management make this a place I will never return to. read more

Owners themselves are involved with the guests, open for your feedback. The most important thing - food! Everything we ordered, was delicious, all of us liked what we ordered. As we were a big group, ended up ordering a lot of dishes. I loved the chaat, the thali, esp the rice/biryani that came with the thali. Indochinese dishes were great too. Quantity was generous.
