I highly recommend the AAMCO Located at 8486 W. Fairview Avenue, Boise Idaho 83704. Owned and Operated by Jason Dressen. I originally went there for a persistent "fluid leakage", which I first thought might be the transmission but I'm NOT fluent in vehicle maintenance. So, I took it to a Transmission expert. It turned out to be convenient, as it was just across the street from where I live. Jason was patient with me and simply explained the process they would use to find the problem. A top down sweep of the engine compartment. An employee named Russell took that assignment an discovered my Oil Filter had come loose and that my Oil Pressure Switch was damaged, which explained why I never got a low oil level warning. Jason recommended replacing the switch, oil change and new filter for the fix. An employee named Dalton did that task. Had my truck back first thing the next day, and I made a point of personally thanking each of them for not only their knowledge and workmanship but for their patience with me. Quoted us $1600 for repairs and labor @$165 an hour for labor which equaled half the amount of the quote. Got a second option and it cost us $160 total for repairs and labor- just old belts. Aamco told us it was an oil leak that they had to take the transmission apart for. read more

I took my Tacoma to these guys two weeks ago for an oil change and a transmission flush. They told me they had found a coolant leak. $800 later I had my truck back. This past week the truck overheated from a coolant leak and damage occurred to the radiator, head gasket, and cylinders. My truck has been bullet proof for the last two years and then these guys work on my radiator and this happens. I took my truck to another shop I trust and now I'm looking at $8000+ in repairs. Worst part is this shop just shrugged and took no responsibility. read more

About 4 years ago the transmission went out in my Jeep on the way to Twin Falls. I was able to limp it in 4th gear to my mom's house and then took it to AAMCO in Twin Falls. Came back a week later and drove it back to Boise. About 3 days later the clutch quit working. AAMCO on State projected fixing it 4 days later. Even though I had just gotten it out of their shop in Twin Falls. I persisted, they fed me a line about something flipping up and knocking the line loose. That transmission was always a bit hard to shift and the clutch didn't always work right. Tonight while driving home it made a loud BANG and quit working. The Nampa Idaho location is full of I experienced mechanics and ran by liars and thieves. In 2020, I brought my vehicle in for a transmission over temp notification on my dash. They tested my transmission and found no issue, they then diagnosed my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with a faulty PCM. Aamco ordered the refurbished PCM but from a janky company in New York. After waiting 3 months (during the pandemic shipping was delayed) to receive the part, Aamco charged me $900 and plugged in the new computer. I asked them to leave my original PCM in the backseat for me as I I wanted to send it in to have it refurbished and keep it for back up. They claimed they lost it. Two months later, my Jeep had a whole new laundry list of issues. Mis firing in 2 Cylinders, all the fuel injector codes, etc. I then brought my jeep back in to have Aamco look at it, their response was new fuel injectors and fuel lines and I was quoted $2500. I could not afford that, and so had to park my Jeep and buy another vehicle on credit. I then started replacing things on the jeep that was recommended to remedy the issues. new spark plugs, injector clips, new battery, starter, MAF sensor, etc. Nothing worked. I then took the Jeep into a few different mechanics for second and third Larrys chevron, John Franklin auto repair, and the Jeep Dodge Chrysler Dealership. These mechanics all agreed without prompting that the PCM was faulty. I was sold a dud. I then had my Jeep towed back to Aamco to have their mechanics look at the pcm again, they agreed the PCM was junk. In fact, the PCM that Aamco sold me was out of a 2005 Jeep Wrangler, not a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 which is what I needed and so was not brand new as I was told it would be by their employee. They offered to sell me another one for more than double what I paid the first time. $1800, not including programming and flashing, that's an extra $200. They made zero attempt to make it right even after informing me that the mechanic and employee of theirs was fired for selling intentionally faulty parts to their customers. So In short, I was lied to, I was robbed of my old PCM (which sell on eBay for $300 non programmed so he likely -I'm assuming of course-sold my PCM I asked to keep- for extra cash for his pocket) and then charged me nearly $1000 for a faulty PCM. Then when I called them out on it, they assured me it was the fuel injectors. Fast forward 1.5 years and I finally get confirmation that it in fact was the PCM they sold me, and they refused to make it right. I'm floored. I've never felt more taken advantage of in my life. I will never refer anyone to this company as I am aware of others who have had similar issues. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I'm a little upset because I took my truck in the moment they opened as scheduled earlier this week to get my AC repaired. I have a warranty that includes AC coverage. They informed me that they would fast track it and diagnose/ get working on it the same day so I could pick it up the following day before they closed. I've called them 4 different times over the past couple days and each time they've told me that they were almost done with the diagnostic and would call me with an estimate within an hour. They have had my truck for a few days and still haven't submitted a ticket to my warranty company or started a single repair. Depending on how this next day goes I will be either lowering or raising my rating. read more

Wanted to charge us triple for the work to fix a wrecked car and then didn't even tell us we had 2 days to come get it or they would tow it. I was taking a 1986 Toyota RV from Walla Walla, WA to Big Bend National Park and lost my transmission outside of Boise. I dread car repair places, and so today when a check light went off in the middle of a 3-day road trip I was not amused to say the least. I happened upon AAMCO and let me say, I am SO GLAD I did! I let the guy know what was going on and before they wrote a ticket up he said let's just see what the light is on for. Twenty minutes later I found out it was just because of low air in one tire, probably from the drop in temp as it was only low by one point. Ten minutes later I got a full report my tires were visually inspected, filled, and the light was off. No charge. On my way for the last full day of driving. First time I went in they talked such a great game the customer service was great, the second time I went in for a code on my car and an oil change, cost me 400 when i called back and said the code was still on my car they told me to go to o rileys and have it cleared, 3 hours later my Transmission went out Hmmmm I had waynes transmission replace it and they did a fantastic Job, My car was sitting for awhile with minimal use so Today when I found out I was out of oil a thousand of miles before the recommended time had even come I knew they charged me for Oil change and did not do it, Ripped off, I am a Grandma with little knowledge about cars an easy target, they charged me 350 to replace a so called oil housing unit had nothing to do with a code. Do not go to this place, If you do not know about cars they will take advantage, Shame on you Aamco I wonder did you break a piece in my Tranny so I would have to come back? They took a long time and didn't fix the problem. I made an appointment for Wednesday a week in advance, and when I dropped it off I told them the problem was the circulation vents on the passenger side and the rear actuator, which I knew would require taking the dashboard apart. Thursday afternoon they called to say they wouldn't know what the problem was and they would have to take the dash apart. So after 2 days they could only tell me what I already knew. Friday they said they needed to order a part which would arrive on Saturday, and I reminded them to fix the actuator. No one was there on Saturday to receive it when it was delivered though, so they didn't get it until the delivery came back Monday afternoon. By Tuesday they were finally done. I was upset they had my car 6 days, but the most upset that they hadn't fixed the actuator! The actuator is what allows the heater air to come through, and it was summer so the outside air coming through was already warm. I told them I wanted the actuator fixed while the dash was already taken apart. They told me to wait until winter and if it wasn't working I could bring it back then. Which will again require them a few days to fix, and I am a single person with only my one car, and it's very inconvenient to be without a car. I wanted them to fix it while they had it and they hadn't even looked at it! I am moving to Minnesota and I need the heater, which is why I wanted them to fix it even though it was July! read more
