Turns out this transmission shop did not use hoses rated for transmission fluid on my car. The hoses they installed only lasted a month before they failed again. Anywhere is better than here. Take it to a high school auto shop for all I can help, just not here. We had our 2018 Traverse locked in this broke garage for 2 months. They've come up with every excuse in the book to why the car isn't ready and ultimately came forward with "we don't have money". We even paid for the parts, assuming that would fix the problem, but nothing panned out. At the end of the day we ended up towing our not running car (car was running before we brought it in) to another shop. All I can say is I would truly be a damsel in distress without the help of Robert and AAMCO, can you believe I drove my brakes down until they were metal to metal? This is insane. However he fixed it, checked all my oil and engine fluids and made sure I'm good to go. I went there with a new whip I had just bought off an auction. I took it to my regular mechanic first. He did a full diagnostic and refused to work on my ride. It needed a new transmission and other stuff. ‍ I came here and they were happy to work on it. I found out they work with two companies that offer credit for the work. Not only did that mess need a tranny, but it needed almost $4000 worth of other work. I was able to qualify for credit and got it all done at once. Enrique agreed with my prior diagnostic without adding to it. My ride needed minor adjustments afterwards, but they took care of them, no problem. When I returned I was told "the vehicle was running so well it didn't require a filter change and no services had been performed at this time". This was a very odd statement so I inquired further. The Service Writer went on to disclose they "don't perform filter changes on vehicles over 100k miles and that's simply the policy." This brought me to ask a few pragmatic questions. Why was I not told this immediately prior to handing over the keys? Why had I not received a call prior to my arrival 3 hours later? I had my 2004 Volv Xc90 2.9T towed by AAA to this location for diagnoses of Vehicle issues. They estimated the work to cost around $4500 dollars for a simple CV Axle replacement, absolute highway robbery and down right thievery. I was told it's not worth it to replace part and that they would buy the SUV from me for a 1000 dollars. Scam artists. During the Towing process the AAA driver hooked the vehicle on the metal transmission cooler line breaking the metal oil cooler line. The AAA road site assistance driver took fault and agreed to repair my vehicle. AAMCO agreed to repair vehicle with said damage. When I picked the car up I was told the repair had been made on the transmission oil line. The car had to be towed again from AAMCO to my home. When the car arrived to my house I inspected the repair, AAMCO had not repaired the damage, but had attached a regular extension hose, (not recommended and dangerous) to fix the issue. When I called to confront them about the fake repair, I was told the car is not worth the repair and that I'm not being fair to the AAA road site assistance driver. The arrogance and hypocrisy of these people is deafening. Charging me 4500 for a 500 dollar job and telling me to get rid of my car, while on the same token telling me it's ok for others to destroy my items and not pay. STAY AWAY! Unbelievable. read more

Been having issues with my Infiniti not even dealer was able to diagnose the problem. Dealer wanted fuel pump swapped out for $1400 but I wanted second opinion. Enrique and the crew were able to pinpoint the issue to engine computer/electrical short. They also tested my fuel pump at fine working condition. This was all done free of charge and they were able to provide me with the path I need to take. If I ever need work done I'll make sure to give them my business. My husband stopped by this AAMCO (without an appt) and was immediately greeted by Enrique. I went in for a presumed transmission issue, that the dealership had quoted me an ungodly amount to repair. I contacted these guys and they had me drop off my car. They quoted me a much lower price for the same repairs. But they also gave me the option to replace the filter and flush and replace the transmission fluid for a much lower cost, with the understanding that it might not fix the problem. They were 50/50 on whether it would work. It did!! My car has been running great since (put about 5,000 miles on it after the fluid/filter replacement). These guys also seemed more interested in fixing the car than making a sale-Which is the opposite of what I had experienced at the dealership. I would absolutely recommend. read more

Brought my car in for a tune up and replacement of motor brackets, and let me just say... these guys are the BEST! They went above and beyond, my car has never been so clean -- all done in addition to the work under the hood. On top of that, they were so friendly. Update: It was determined by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair & A Subaru Technician with over 20 years experience that the service performed by AAMCO was indeed not the service we paid for. The Bureau mediated between the two parties and we were ultimately reimbursed . Original Post How do you really know that the work you paid for is what was actually performed?....After one bad experience in the past, my partner and I are in the practice of getting receipts for our records for any work performed on the vehicle. The short & simple is that we ultimately decided to move forward w/ AAMCO Glendale to get a new Subaru (OEM) remanufactured transmission installed because AAMCO Glendale agreed to this stipulation. We chose the option of an OEM remanufactured unit over having the transmission rebuilt or buying a used transmission. Robert agreed in absolute fashion that the receipt for the new remanufactured transmission would be provided. All seemed to be going well, seemingly really nice guys, so it truly saddens us that we have to move forward in this fashion but something seems to be amiss. For a couple days they gave us the run arounds about why the receipt was not included w/ the closing documents after picking up the car. I went in back to back days to retrieve the receipt & after the excuses ran dry, they ultimately flat out refused to provide it to us. Robert noted the shop's Manager Enrique is refusing, although he (Robert) seemed to be completely understanding of why I would want it. Then get this, he took 1 more run at an excuse by saying he doesn't even remember agreeing that he would provide us the receipt. This is when I knew something wasn't adding up.....Regardless of their rationale of why all of a sudden they would decide they wouldn't provide the receipt, it is the absolute opposite of what they agreed to. Why wouldn't they honor what they said? Are they hiding something?....After each runaround we felt more and more uneasy and concerned that maybe we didn't get the service (Subaru Remanufactured Transmission) that we paid for. Something isn't right, their behavior completely changed and after a few excuses (e.g. don't know where the receipt is at, etc), they just flat out refused to honor what they agreed to. Did we not get a Subaru Remanufactured Transmission? Did they rebuild it instead, although we paid for the remanufactured transmission? Did they find and install a used transmission?......This is very concerning because it's a very big bill and to not get what we paid for is completely unacceptable. As such, & It's unfortunate that it has to come to this, but we're filing complaints w/ the State (California Bureau of Automotive Repair / Consumer Affairs, Consumer Advocacy group, etc), AAMCO Corporate and also working w/ Subaru Corporate and a mechanic to see if we can have the work double checked..... I will be updating this along the way w/ any new information. AAMCO Glendale, you can still honor what you agreed to & provide us w/ a proper receipt that is date stamped, that has an order no., vendor details, product ordered/(some sort of serial/identifying # for the part ordered) etc. We don't need to see the actual prices as we expressed to you, we understand that you're a business that's making a profit on services rendered.... we just want to be certain that the work we paid for is actually what was performed on the car as we expressed before we agreed to move forward with your shop. note: I tried waiting for the shop manager Enrique both days and simply asked if he could call me. still haven't received a phone call re this matter. read more

We had the transmission replaced by a Toyota remanufactured transmission for our Avalon, in addition to a new engine gasket and oil seals. AAMCO did a great job, this was months ago and the car runs smooth and there is no longer oil stains on our driveway. The warranty on the transmission is two years, obviously they stand behind their work. I was surprised to read that some customers really thought you can get a reliable transmission on the cheap and that $4,000 is too much. If you buy a junk transmission from a wreaking yard keep in mind what the condition of that transmission may be and if it fails, you will will pay to pull it out and install another transmission. BTW $3,500 for a rebuild or $4,000 for a remanufactured is the going rate, transmission work is expensive, but cheap short cuts will usually bite you in the butt at the end. Do not let your cousin Vinnie replace your transmission with a wreaker in your back yard, as you will certainly live to regret it and wind up with endless frustration, lost time, and double the expense from doing it right the first time. I really appreciate their free service to the public of doing engine light check. They are not trying to scam/ sell expensive transmission repairs for the engine light turning on.... In my experience I knew it was good chance the light turned on cus my catalytic converter is shit and was worried it could have been from something else. They confirmed there was a code saying it's that so I didn't need to worry about anything new that's wrong. For poor guys like me the free service really helped out. My Volvo read that my transmission needed service. Of course I was pretty worried this was going to be a big expense. Enrique inspected the car and then reinspected it the next day when it had a chance to be cold. He was incredibly helpful and honest, explaining that he could find nothing wrong with the car's transmission and suspected it was likely a misread possibly caused by possible electrical or computer issues. He added that he didn't think I should proceed with any maintenance because at that point it was unnecessary. He erased the electronic notice and asked me to keep driving the car and notify him if there were any further problems or notices, and we would proceed from there. He was really great and the cars been driving fine since. Best thing was he didn't charge me anything! He said a payment wasn't necessary at this point. I went here to get my check engine light diagnosed for free (via their online coupon). The experience was so-so. Enrique was really nice and helpful. Didn't pressure me into anything I didn't want for the old car I am getting rid of. He said it might take up to 2.5 hours but I was called within the hour by John (possibly the owner?). John was a really pushy guy. He told me that for $210 they could tell me what was wrong with my car because their machine couldn't figure it out. I told him I would have to think it over and he seemed to get angry. I went back to pick up my car. John didn't even want to write down/tell me what the machine had picked up about my engine. Enrique was nice enough to find out what it was and give us the code. Thank goodness he was there or it would've been a horrible experience. Would not recommend you go here- seems shady. read more

PLEASE GET A SECOND OPINION AT LEAST. So I took my car to this place to rebuild my 4l60e transmission which I paid about $1200 when it was new and freshly rebuild for more performance (Maddog Transmissions). I have to say that the workers were totally cool people, and friendly. Then, Robert called me the next day, and asked for $3400 for rebuilding the transmission, or I could buy a new one for $4200 installed, which by the way is a ripoff. I told him I was expecting somewhere around $1200, he started laughing and said that used to be in the 70s which is BS. cause I still have the original cashiers check for the Chevelle and the whole car was $1224 (this doesn't matter but I just want to let people know that he doesn't know what he is talking about, or thinks you are stupid). I told him I could get a brand new performance transmission professionally rebuilt for $1200, he then said installation and transmission fluid will get you to $3200. Really? I could get 12 quarts of Castrol ATF from autozone for $70. Installing a new transmission is a 1-2h job max for a professional. I'm so glad I didn't have them rebuilt my transmission as I have called at least 10 places, and asked them for quotes and none of them went over $2500 installed, as a matter of fact my car is right now at a reputable transmission shop being rebuilt and installed for $1300 plus tax. Please get a second opinion before proceeding with this shop. Sick and tired of people trying to take advantage of inexperienced people especially during this pandemic when money is hard to come by. I apologized for wasting his time, and will recommend people to stay far away from this place or AAMCO. I rather give my money to local small businesses. Most hearty super good review! I took my 2001 Jaguar XKJ in expecting a huge bill because the engine did not cut off when i took out the key. They put the car through their 2-1/2 hour test and checked and checked and said they could find nothing wrong. I insisted that the engine did not cut out and I told them I would bring the car in when it happened so they could see it themselves. Something I said tipped them off that I was talking about the fan which starts when the engine stops to cool off the engine and they explained it to me. They charged me NOTHING!!! My son took his 2011 Elantra for an estimate (at my suggestion). Check engine light was on, and car had shifting difficulty. Code for check engine was a defective sensor. We told them so, and they noted it on the ticket. Made an appointment. Still had to wait. After 4 hours, the call came. Needs a new transmission. "Bad clutch plates, overheating, burnt, etc. Rebuilt $3180 plus tax, factory new $3750 plus tax. " Told them " we'll let you know". They replied with "you shouldn't drive it - it could catch on fire". They said "you really should go with a new one, the rebuilt is not a good option". Took the car to a local transmission shop, for a second opinion. It needed a sensor. Less than $800. (And it didn't catch on fire driving it there!) They won't be getting any of my business. read more
