However, there's an honest profit, and there's a "bend over, son... this won't hurt too much." I'm looking to have a clutch installed in an old truck of mine. It's not out yet, but I fear it's on its way. It's no longer a daily driver, but it's still a good, solid, clean, reliable truck I'd like to hang onto. So, a new clutch is in order. Now for those of you who are mechanically inclined, you know this isn't rocket science, but it's still a tall order. In fact, a few people reading this might even know the knuckle damage required when replacing a clutch laying on your back in your driveway. Can I get a witness? Yup... me too! However, that was a few lifetimes ago. It's a lot of work, and it requires a lift, a tranny jack, and some elbow grease. None of which I possess these days, so I'd prefer to take it to the pros. Here's the glitch. Labor? 600 bucks! Yup, 100 dollars an hour. That's pretty much the standard these days, I get it, and I can swing it. The parts, on the other hand? Crook city! Flat out extortion! Look up any clutch kit at any auto parts store. They're all right at 245 bucks. That's retail, mind you. There's already profit figured into that price. A shop like this would pay wholesale. Now I don't claim to know what that is, but I bet this shop could buy that clutch kit for right at 200 bucks. So, though math isn't my strong suit, that's about a 20% markup. So, without lifting a finger they make money. I can see them charging even more, maybe dialing that baby up to 300 bucks, which means they just made roughly 100 bucks without lifting a finger. Are you following me so far? Great! Now guess what they wanted to charge me? Go on... take a stab! Wrong! Try again! Wrong! Try again! Wrong! These jack wagons wanted to charge me 622.50 for a part that costs them 200. A 400 dollar profit on a 200 dollar part. What do you all call this? Capitalism? Hey, I'm a staunch supporter of it! But this ain't your average joint trying to make a few bucks, this is flat out dishonest BS! When discussing that on the phone the lady didn't have an answer, so she passed the buck to someone else. He tried to spin some crazy BS about some 1.8 markup range, which he couldn't elaborate on. 1.8 times the value? Again, BS! They're already making a profit between wholesale at 200 to the recommended retail value of 245. On top of this they charge a "shop fee." Ok, however you want to spin the cost of shop rags, grease sweep and so on, I get it. But the lady said it's based on a percentage of the parts' cost. What??? What kind of crookenese is this? The more expensive the part, the more they charge you. It has nothing to do with the actual supplies used, because that would be based on how long the job took. Just so we're all understanding this scam, a 2,000 dollar transmission would require twice as much shop supplies as a 1,000 dollar transmission? How? Impossible! Here's the deal, I'm pretty sure Mr. Transmission is a franchise. It's an independently owned franchise. If it were a corporate owned store some integrity would be present. However, since it's independently owned, the owners can gouge the livin' hell out of people all they want. I really wish the franchise folk at the top would read this. I'm pretty sure they'd frown upon this horse $hit! Folks, don't reward them with your business, they don't deserve it. Cheers!

That recommendation immediately made me question how carefully it had actually been inspected. During the oil change, I noticed I was being charged several dollars more per quart of oil than the nearby auto parts store charged. To their credit, after I questioned it, they adjusted the bill. However, I shouldn't have had to catch that myself. In addition, when I left the shop, the "Check Oil" maintenance reminder had not been reset. My biggest concern involved the windshield washer hose repair. I was originally charged a diagnostic fee for what turned out to be a straightforward repair. After I questioned it, the charge wasn't removed--it was simply reclassified as labor. Before leaving, I asked exactly what had been done to repair the hose. This is a known issue on my model truck, and simply reconnecting the hose often means it will separate again. A simple zip tie is a common preventive fix. I never received a clear explanation of what repair was actually performed. To be fair, I contacted the owner before posting this review. Ryan responded promptly to my first email, which I appreciated. I then sent a follow-up email on June 8 asking one straightforward question: "What work was performed regarding the windshield washer hose repair?" More than a month later, I still have not received a response. No repair shop is perfect, and I don't expect perfection. I do expect careful work, fair pricing, and clear communication when I ask reasonable questions. Unfortunately, too many small issues added up, and the lack of follow-up from the owner ultimately led to this rating. There are many repair shops in the area, and this experience didn't give me enough confidence to return.

The shop claimed the vehicle sat for a certain amount of time, but the dates they used were inconsistent and did not match what actually happened. Even during conversations, staff admitted there were missing notes and unclear records, yet they still attempted to charge storage fees based on those questionable dates. To make matters worse, there were serious internal office issues while our vehicle was there. The front desk employee handling our file quit mid-diagnostic, and a new person took over with little to no understanding of our situation. As a result, paperwork was never sent, invoices were delayed, and we were never clearly notified that the vehicle was ready to be picked up or that storage fees were accumulating. This experience felt unprofessional, disorganized, and unfair. We were willing to pay for diagnostics and remove the vehicle promptly once proper documentation was provided but instead, we were put in a position to pay for their office failures. If you value transparency, accurate record-keeping, and clear communication, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

When in all reality a technician has already diagnosed the radiator to be clogged yet doesn't have time to replace it for said client.
