I had taken my 2013 Tacoma Truck to a local Dealer because I had some slippage problems in myTransmission. They were supposed to do a diagnosis on the Transmission. They called me and said that they had done the diagnosis and pulled the transmission pan and discovered a large amount of metal in the pan. They said the Transmission was shot and needed to be replaced at a cost of $5,500.00 plus. I decided to take it to the Aamco in Layton and met with Miguel Juarez. He had a free diagnosis to evaluate repairing my transmission. This was performed and he discovered that the dealer who claimed that I needed a new transmission had not even removed the Transmission pan, and had lied to me about finding a large amount of metal in the pan. The problems I was having turned out to be a low amount of transmission fluid. Juan suggested a standard Transmission service at a cost of $234.97. This was performed and completely solved my problem. I am very impressed with the honesty of Juan as compared with the unethical treatment I received at the local dealership. Miguel at AAMCO was straight forward from the get go. I believed we needed to replace the transmission on my dad's 1995 Ford F 250. We have been battling with Tanner Transmission for years on their "lifetime guarantee transmissions!" I called Aamco for a quote and Miguel told he did not want to give me a quote for a transmission just in case it turned out to be something else. He said bring it on in and we'll take a look. Within a few days he called and asked about the odometer not working. He wanted to check that component first since that corresponds with the transmission knowing when to shift. Gave me a price and within 2 days he called to say the truck was running smooth! No transmission replacement needed! He could have very easily told me the transmission needed to be replaced with no questions asked on my part. He was honest and saved us thousands of dollars! The Shop Manager Miguel and the team went above and beyond my expectations. I have had components of my car worked on twice this year by other mechanics. Both times failed to address my clutch repair. Bad parts, bad mechanic? Not sure...not producing blame. Finally, this AAMCO team was able to get my car back in shape! Since I was without car, Miguel also took the time to shuttle me to the nearest transit station so I could make it where I needed to be! I had a sprained ankle and just got off crutches so I couldn't walk far without experiencing pain. I've never experienced down to earth service like that from any shop before! I took my RAM truck to Young Chrysler in Layton. After having my truck for four weeks, those crooks lied about the problems with my truck and wanted to replace the transmission and cooling system to the tune of several thousands of dollars. Miguel worked on my truck for about 4 hours and fixed it for less than $1000 (valve body TCM needed to be swapped from an old valve body to the new one). Our jeep broke down on a Sunday. We dropped it off at 8am on Monday. It had a broken AT oil cooler hose and was leaking AT Fluid. Miguel removed the broken tube and soldered a new one in place.
