Absolutely delicious food here! Ordered pickup and we didn't even know it was a Michelin guide restaurant until we entered. No wonder everything was so lovely. They gave us a whole garlic naan as it is uncut in the foil and that was very impressive! Really cool that they did that cuz most restaurants just cut it up and give it to you if you want it to go. Naan itself was very fresh and flavorful. They didn't really put any butter on top which was quite nice. So just a classic lovely garlic naan. Dahi Kebab appetizer - so yum! It was really flavorful on its own, and with that mint chutney it was even better! Husband loved the Malai Kofta ! Curry was properly creamy and even the koftas themselves were good. I needed it a little spicy so added a bit of spice to it and it was perfect. They also had a promotion going on for free samosas with an order of $50 or more. So they gave us four samosas on the house! So nice of them. Husband definitely enjoyed these.

For a Michelin recommended place we expected more from the meal. Service was slow and we had to ask two different staff members just to get some water. The food itself was good, but I had issues with each. The biryani was flavorful, but had a bit too much salt and meet at the yoghurt sauce to balance it out. The curry that came with the fish was delicious, however, the type of fish they used had so many bones and it was impossible to figure out under the thick orange sauce if what you were putting in your mouth was all bone or fish. It made for a very unpleasant eating experience for a person use to eating fresh fish. Worth a try but won't be back

This is a great place with amazing service. The drink we got was Bagicha which was very refreshing. We ordered a classic paneer tikka masala, pesto naan, veg biryani and malai kofta. Our apps were pani puri shots. Which was fun!

I was expecting this to be incredible since it is michelen reviewed. It was good, but I've definitely had better. The food was good - especially the naan. Service was fast and efficient. The dining room was a bit rough. It smelled like bleach near my table and the tables were worn and stained. It's worth stopping by, but maybe a bit over rated.

I had high expectations from Aanch since it is mentioned on the Mechlin guide but It didn't live upto my expectations. Just tried out the Summerlicious menu and the food taste is pretty average. I have had better tasting Indian food in the city. Also it's a bit overpriced given they use no expensive ingredients despite being a fine dine.

When I heard this place was on the Michelin guide I knew this place was legit, luckily we went in lunch time and you don't need to make reservation, and it was worth the trip, the inside looks very clean and modern, the washroom was very clean, honestly this place deserves a Michelin star honestly. We got the lunch special which is 20 bucks plus tax it comes with a tandoori chicken and dessert I got the butter chicken with dal makani, the waiter was very kind gave good recommendations, the butter chicken was hands down the best butter chicken I ever had in my life, the meat was tender and juicy and melts in your mouth, the sauce had perfect balance of sweet and spicy I hate butter chicken that is overly sweet. The lamb bhuna was very tasty as well, perfect amount of heat, and melts in your mouth, the portion size is massive and I think it's worth the price absolutely. The tandoori chicken was okay nothing special, the main star was the butter chicken, you can give me that all day I would lick the plate clean, it's a bit pricey for dinner if you wanna come here I would recommend coming for lunch they got a fantastic deal, big portion and the food is spectacular, if you want real Indian food and not the garbage stuff come to aanch I promise you won't be disappointed. And also my wife likes it which is huge because she is the pickiest Eater that I know, so for her saying this food is the best she ever tasted is massive, I would come here for dinner to try their other spectacular dishes I'm sure they won't disappoint. Right when you go in the ambiance is super inviting and very modern, the food was perfectly balance with spices, the ras Malai was so tasty that's included in the lunch not too sweet, I would definitely come back here with my family on a special I'm sure they will really enjoy it.

Matar Paneer (vegetarian) thali with naan and samosa

They offer catering of individual thali / box meals with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for large groups. Order arrived in a timely manner. The Matar Paneer was decent, but contained very few peas. The paneer itself was alright - tasted like firm tofu (which I liked) as opposed to the salty Western cheeses. The thali also came with Tri-Pepper Corn Chaat, Gobhi Aloo, Dal Tadka, a very small salad of lettuce and carrot, saffron rice, naan, veggie samosa, and Gulab Jamun (fried milk dumpling in saffron honey syrup). Other than the Gulab Jamun, almost everything was extremely spicy. The Gobhi Aloo wasn't that great, but the Dal Tadka (split lentils) was okay - it had a soupy consistency that went well over the rice. The naan was very tough. Samosa had pretty good seasoned potatoes filling, but the dough was too crumbly and flaky. Salad was just a small piece of lettuce with a few shreds of carrot.

Really good and inexpensive Michelin starred Modern Indian Resturant. We ordered 2 daal/lentil curries, one paneer, mutton, and tandoori chicken. Everything was amazing! I can't really name each one but one of the curries had a tad too much ginger (possible because I just got a large piece) but while the tandoori and mutton were succulent without being over cooked, I was really surprised by the creaminess and the balance of the paneer. The star of the show was the Naan/ roti. Not only are they so fluffy they are soooooo crispy! Without any oiliness as they were cooked via tandoor

Cozy Indian restaurant in Toronto's core. Popular for dinner with a large menu and fun south Asian music. Loads of vegetarian options and a drink list. I personally tried the chicken chettinad and the banarasi paan kulfi. The chettinad packed a punch both with heat and peppery, savoury flavour. Went great with the butter naan. The kulfi was large, presentable and popped with cardamom. Super satisfying meal. Service was quick and no frills. Suggest dining in a larger group to reap economies of scale on the bill.

This is really one of the nicest Indian restaurants I have been to. The service was prompt, the food was fresh and promptly served, loved the spinach and goat cheese appetizer, was a huge serving for the 2 of us, but we are it all. Food was delicious and the portions were generous for an upscale restaurant. Service was excellent but I suspect that had something to do with the fact they knew I was going to review them on yelp (they brought us free appetizers and dessert...). My one complaint is that there was a lipstick stain on my wine glass. Would definitely eat there again! read more

The service is very good which is why I gave the review 2 stars. The food itself didn't merit the price. The papadum was all undercooked, the virgin mojito and shirley temple didn't taste good, and same with the paneer tikka. With the amount of 4-5 star reviews I was hoping for a really great lunch, but taste wise this place didn't deliver. Definitely would not recommend to anyone and won't be back myself. read more

It's a beautiful quaint restaurant right in downtown Toronto. Wonderful service, really friendly staff and their Samosas were delicious - crunchy and fresh! Their Dum Biryani was the best we have had so far! Wish I could have packed some food back on the plane :( . Can't wait to come back when we are in Toronto again. read more

Been here in Toronto for a while and for the most part I've been disappointed by the food. Then there is aanach! I have tried so many things from this menu all great. Some of the best Indian I've had. Biryani's are flavorful and full of color and spice! Lobster jalfrezi solid, curries are good, bread very good too. Fast service. Good people! Pretty basic Indian restaurant, nothing fine about it. Food took forever to get to us, waited at least 40 minutes after the appetizer for the main course. It was ok, butter chicken wasn't good. I would've given it 4 stars but the service was pretty bad. Won't be back. Food is way overpriced. read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews but I have no choice. It took my order 1.5 hrs to deliver, I live 8 minutes away. And when it was delivered one of the three items was missing. I am not even getting a refund for the missing items. Unbelievable. read more

As a family who LOVES Indian food, we had a great time considering each and every dish. They were all very delish and full of flavor. The naan was great, the service was great and the chef Kumar came out and met us a few times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. All of the dishes were excellent and fresh made. The vindaloo was hot and spicy (as expected) but had more flavor than heat. Perfect. The lamb Rogan josh was buttery and succulent. And the chicken tikka masala mild and flavorful. Overall and excellent evening, considering we got to the restaurant so late (unforced layover. Thx air canada). Will definitely come back. read more

While Aanch has been a bit hit-and-miss in the past, the general quality of food is quite good. It is a cut above the rest of the Indian options around in the GTA, where you get the same brown sauce on everything. But what I like best about Aanch is that they have some offerings that are unique, like the Tundae kebabs, the Stuffed Okra or the Nutella Samosa (which I haven't tried personally) and these are the ones you should go for. The Tundae kebabs took me back to India, they were the perfect consistency, the lamb minced so fine that it needs no chewing, with the perfect crunch on the outside. I for one will keep going back for more, and recommend anyone looking for good Indian food to try Aanch as well! read more

The food was delicious! Spicy, but not overwhelming, even for my 7 year old daughter. We loved the chicken tikka masala and my husband really enjoyed the lamb vindaloo. It was his first experience with Indian food and I think it will be hard to beat! The food came timely, but it took a while to get the check and leave, otherwise a great experience! read more

The food here was delicious. Ordered the lamb tak-a-tak and it was spicy, flavourful and tender. The fish tikka was delicious and it came with a fresh chatni that tasted like it came right out of moms kitchen. Dal Makhni was creamy, spicy and deeply flavourful. I had the palak paneer and they got it right - it's spicy and smooth without being overly greasy. Friendly service and healthy portions rounded out an excellent experience. We're from Markham. We drove down to the city for an evening out with some friends. With the help of Yelp we found this place. It's slightly away from the main entertainment district, which is a positive. Service from the beginning till end was good. The interior was nice and all of the staff were very pleasant - not fake pleasant but genuine pleasant. Prices were decent. Even though the place was busy the kitchen had our food out relatively quickly. Only thing stopping me from giving a 5 star rating was that our table was a bit on the small side. But - in the restaurant's defense, we did arrive without a reservation, and we accepted a booth, and we ordered a ton of food. I would have no problem recommending this restaurant to anyone. read more

The service was wonderful and the menu was elaborate. I got the pakoras, rice with peas, and baingan bartha (eggplant). The first two were good but the eggplant was really awful with a terrible after taste of the fake liquid smoke that they used (instead of actually fire roasting the eggplant). I've had numerous variations of this dish, but this is by far the worst I've tasted. The restaurant is also over priced compared to other Indian restaurants that offer a similar menu but better tasting food. Not worth your money. read more

My neighbors picked Utsav Thali (2 non-vegetarian and 1 vegetarian) and so did we. For drinks, they ordered tea and we ordered masala chai. Everything was delicious- the food came hot and fresh, and the flavours were rich and deep. Plus, the portion size reflected the price point. We ate like royalty! We were too full, so we did not get a chance to try the desserts. Delicious food, friendly service, and quiet ambiance- a hidden gem in Yorkville area!

But walk in, and it's a different story. Clean, cozy, and exactly the kind of no-fuss Indian spot you'd expect to stumble upon in the heart of a big city. The food? Solid. Spices landed right. Everything was warm, comforting, and satisfying. It's not trying to reinvent Indian cuisine--it's just doing it well. Ideally, I'd give Aanch a 2.5/5 I decided to give Aanch a try after seeing it on Michelin's recommended restaurant list. While the restaurant had high hopes, it ultimately fell short of expectations. The restaurant was surprisingly empty for a weekend lunch, allowing for immediate seating. However, the dining experience was marred by a wobbly table, which was both uncomfortable and indicative of a lack of attention to detail (guests seated next to me had similar issue with their table). The mango banta was a refreshing start, with a well-balanced sweetness and a subtle chaat masala flavor. The panipuri shots, however, were underwhelming. The absence of tamarind chutney left the dish lacking a crucial element of flavor. The chicken 65 was a disappointment. The chicken was soggy and lacked the expected heat. While the portion size was generous, the limited amount of green chutney was insufficient. Brought my colleagues here. Been here for the second time now, and everything seemed knew what they wanted and I went with the flow. Staff was friendly and helpful when I can't pronounce the names of dishes. Food came out promptly and wow, how tasty everything was. They had the best-buttered chicken and even their native cuisines were tasty as well. The distinct taste makes them different from the other. Classy dining space so great to celebrate a special occasion here. Price was reasonable also with the portion sizes of which you can share with your companion. read more

Probably the best Indian place in Toronto. We arrive just before the busy lunch hour so we got seated right away. The waitress seemed a little rushed in getting our order but I'm used to the hurried atmosphere in a place so this didn't bother me. Everything we ordered tasted really good- and we ordered everything, and I chose the buttery insanely delicious chicken as my favorite. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town. read more

Nice restaurant, I don't know what traditional Indian cuisine is like so I can't say if it is or not, but everything we had was good. he only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food was very good but it's not mind-blowing. Personally like this better than most downtown Indian restaurants. Particularly small things such as the papad and the chutneys served with it felt more authentic relative to other downtown restaurants. The naan was also excellent and the curries tasted great.
