Got the weekday lunch buffet. It was good value at $21.95. The staff cleared my plates pretty quickly. Many dishes were decent. Some were so so. Nothing was very spicy. Butter chicken was really good: rich, creamy, with a complex flavour profile. Chicken tikka masala was pretty good too - it was displayed on a huge tawa (grill), so you know it was special. Tandoori chicken was moist. Vegetable pakora was pretty good - crispy, moist enough & with a nice spice mix. The naan was not fresh (from the buffet table) but it was an acceptable compromise for the price.

Nice atmosphere above King Street, great service and super friendly staff. This place is high quality and the food is so clean & fresh! Highly recommend if you are in Toronto.

To start, we ordered some mango lassi and that was a blissful drink, the butter chicken with garlic naan was extremely favourable and delicate, had to order a extra serving. The goat curry was perfect with the shrimp biryani which also paired with the other two proteins we ordered. Overall, delicious and would come back. The service by Passang was exceptional, definitely would want for him to serve us when we come back again.

Our first trip to this restaurant and always want to try something new. Love Indian food as a whole and will always try in a new city. We were pleasantly impressed by the Mattar Paneer and the Dum Aloo which didn't disappoint. These were different from what you get as most places. The Panner also had mushrooms which made it taste unique. The Dum Aloo I have never seen before now and I make at home. This version was spectacular. I think they use black cardamom. Well worth a try when in this location. The service was not the best but didn't distract from the delicious food. Give them a try if you like Indian food.

The indian food here was disappointing. kind of bland and didn't feel authentic. The portion size is tiny for what they charge. The service was ok. They have lots of seating area, large spacious place. You do have to climb a narrow set of stairs to get to the dining area and then washrooms are another set of stairs. if you or party is do not like so much stairs i wouldn't recommend it here. The name is misleading, it is definitely not fine cuisine. From decoration to service to quality of food, nothing is high end. but they do charge a hefty price. I would say it's more closer to cafeteria food in a cafeteria environment but paying a much higher price point.

I had high expectations coming in to try this place out because it was recommended by a couple of friends. However that was not to be the case, and I came out disappointed. The level of service and dining experience we received was lamentable. Upon going into the dining area at the 2nd level of the building, there was no receptionist or personnel to welcome me and my companion to our seats. Sitting down at our table there was also no one to come to us / greet us / ask how many we are dining for today's meal / mention to us about the day's buffet offerings or whatever the day's special was, or ask us if we would want to order drinks --- standard operating procedure that are to be expected in a food establishment. During meal time we already had finished our 1st plate, but we were still not served the customary glass of water. We had to go out of our way to ask the waiter for some. Water refilling was also not routine. Requests had to come from us for the refill. It was only for our last glass of water that they seemed to voluntarily serve us some. I must also mention it is the same thing with asking for napkins. Eating Indian food one is using one's hand, so hands need to be clean prior and hands will be dirtied during and after. There were no napkins initially available at the table. After my first round eating I had to wipe my hands clean. I asked for napkins, but it took time so I just used the small folded white plate cloth for the meantime to clean my hands. Then some time later I had to follow-up a couple more times about the napkins before it finally came. In this place the washrooms are also upstairs so I had to go all the way up one level to wash my hands clean. Such an inconvenience for just trying to tidy up. Talking about food, I appreciated how the Chicken Tikka was presented. Other than that, taste was nothing special for me. There were not as many food options available compared to other Indian buffets I have tried. The naan section was also not regularly replenished. I got to experience moments when I was up to get food, but the naan tray was empty. There were also a couple of naans me and my companion got to get which were not warm enough or firm enough. The last gripe I have is the taste of the food. It is not actually spicy at all (In other cases, that may be fine with me biologically/physiologically because I do have a low tolerance for hot & spicy food). I do understand that this may be intentionally toned down to accommodate a more diverse clientele, however this move does break away from the immersion of being able to sample authentic Indian dishes. It is perfectly understandable that food places do have their off days where they don't tick everything in the box, but to have these many different blunders happen all together during a lunch meal is really disappointing. The fact that I did enjoy going back and back again for the butter chicken, and the good time I was having with my companion saved the whole dining experience for me.

Aroma is my office's place of choice when it comes to all you can eat Indian lunch buffets. This is good becuase while I enjoy their lunch buffet, their dinner experiences are quite mediocre. I won't go into much detail since I'm reviewing them for lunch, but I will say a lot of the horror stories for dinner posted on Aroma's Yelp are definitely true. For lunch at least, Aroma is always packed. The food gets constantly refilled because of how quickly everyone goes through everything, which means you'll always get some hot freshly cooked curries. Their curries themselves are pretty good, always steaming hot and the meats are all tender and flavourful. That makes having unlimited of those curries, at least for lunch, a good thing. My recommendations in particular are the butter chicken, vegetable pakoras, and their eggplant curry. The classics are often the best, and it's definitely true for Aroma. It might be hard to get a table though; you'll most likely have to wait for it. The restauarant table density is also very high, which makes it very difficult to walk around. It felt like I had to navigate a landmine when I went to the bathroom. The tables themselves are also way too flimsy. Our table shook a lot when we were eating, which was kind of unpleasant. Overall, I enjoy our visits to Aroma. I had a few complaints, but that doesn't detract too much from the experience.

Ordered in some butter chicken from Aroma with garlic naan. It was decent tasting food, not bad, but would not order again. The butter chicken felt lacking but the garlic naan was great!

Umbrella Guy @ Aroma. Came in for lunch on a Friday without prior reservation. We had intended to go to a different indian buffet but they were closed for renovations. It is possible that it being temporarily offline caused this place to get a lot more customers. There's a washroom upstairs, outside of the restaurant itself. The washroom itself is pretty nice, with an excellent hand-dryer. When we arrived, there was a line waiting at the door. Maybe three or four groups of people in front of us. We looked in to get their attention and noticed a number of empty tables, but we were informed that they have been reserved already. Well, given that Friday lunches tend to be quite busy, probably should've called in. After 15 mins, a table cleared up and we got seated. Now, this was when we realized there was a SECOND entrance on the other side of the restaurant, and there was also a line-up there. Basically, this place has two entrances, and the staff are just walking back and forth to greet people. Weird. The seating plan is quite cramped, and expect to weave around the room to get to your seat, especially if it's really busy there's a number of bottle necks. There are a number of tables placed really close to the food area, which isn't going to be particularly comfortable for those sitting there, and those trying to get food. Worse, for some reason, they decided to place the hot foods next to where those tables are, rather than off to the side. The salad bar's over at the side and no one really goes there. Floors were also sticky, but I guess it's reasonable since it's busy and they don't really have time to clean up any accidents. Service staff only came around like twice during the 30 mins we were there, but again, they're really busy and there was this huge company lunch that seemed to be getting more attention. In terms of food selection, I think there's less than the other indian buffets in the area. I did enjoy the taste and quality of the food however, so if they carry your favourite dishes, then quality over quantity right? Food re-fills don't come too fast so if it's busy, you may end up having to wait for the next batch.

It was flavorful, but there was no distinct flavor. The Bhel Puri was yummy, but they served us wayyyy too much for only a party of 2. The garlic naan was fine. Midway through the painfully slow setup process, the entire store started filling with the scent of something glorious. Rich spices, buttery warmth... it was the kind of smell that stops conversations. Everyone working there was Indian, and they were all clearly just trying to wrap up my account so they could dig into whatever just got delivered. I had to ask--where's that food from? "Kothur," they said, almost in unison. That was the recommendation, and it stuck with me. I walked by the place once. The exterior didn't scream "hidden gem." Thought about ordering delivery a few times but never followed through. Life, you know? Today, I finally went. From the outside, still nothing to write home about. But walk in, and it's a different story. Clean, cozy, and exactly the kind of no-fuss Indian spot you'd expect to stumble upon in the heart of a big city. The food? Solid. Spices landed right. Everything was warm, comforting, and satisfying. It's not trying to reinvent Indian cuisine--it's just doing it well. If you ever find yourself sniffing the air near a phone shop and wondering what that divine smell is--it might just be Kothur. TL;DR Not flashy. Surprisingly good. Smelled it before I tasted it. Worth it.

Unfortunately, lots of places in Toronto who make promises of serving biryani teleport you to hell. My friends and family are lifelong fans of biryani. Of all the places Biryaniwalla is highly recommended and I have usually had it at get-togethers. This time though I decided to visit the place and order a take out personally. Located a few meters away from Bathurst station , the restaurant stands amongst other Asian eataries. Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by Ankita at the reception. We asked her for recommendations and she patiently explained us the options and advised 2 biryanis based on our spice tolerance and preferences. Taking her advice, we ordered: - Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket with double Masala for $43 ($39.99 for Biryani and Double masala pay $2.99 extra). - Palnadu Chicken Biryani ( $18.99) Ambience wise, the place is pretty chill with neatly lined tables for family and the huge Biryaniwalla Logo adorning the big wall. There was also a spin the wheel game, which you can play if you place a google review. While we waited for our order, the shop was quite busy with mobile food delivery orders. After about 10 minutes, we got our order and took it home. Chicken Kaju Ghee Roast Bucket: This is possibly their bestselling biryani. And I have to confess, I have tried it before and I absolutely love it. It is a delicious biryani , with nice moist chicken pieces, cashews and which is not too overpowering with spices. We ordered double masala because my better half likes it that way. The quantity for bucket was huge and can easily satify 3-4 people. Chicken Palnadu Biryani: Compared to Kaju Ghee Roast, this one is more tangy and a bit on the spicier side. It is a slight Achari taste and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, you get Salan (spicy-tangy gravy) and Raita (yoghurt mixture) with the biryanis, and they go quite well with the biryani. However, i somehow still felt the biryanis lack that authentic taste of biryani that you get in India and Pakistan. Real authentic biryanis have the inherent smoky flavor which comes from coal which is used to cook biryani and to give Biryani the dum ( pots are sealed and cooked over slow heat with coal - at bottom and at top.) Also missed that Birista that usually accompany Biryani layers. That being said, these are quite good biryanis. To foodies: Possibly the best biryani restaurant is toronto, that gets it as close to the authentic taste. The biryanis are delicious and they have lot of other options including seafood biryani. The quantities are huge and you and your loved ones will truly enjoy To management: Great biryanis. Great service by Ankita. Would love if you guys can sprinkle some birista ( fried onions) at the top layer or provide it on the side. Also it would be great if you can provide some incentive for customers who order directly from store. I knew you once had 10%.off , which when I asked was told it's still on but you need the offer card. I was a bit let down by that because at the end, it's just a formality. Also spin the wheel if you place a google review is a cheap tactic to get reviews. Just do it as a fun activity guys. Creates goodwill. As a brand strategist , I always recommend customer experience over a few dollars Overall this is a great place for biryanis. I definitely recommend it.
