I walked in the store to purchase diving gear and there were three employees with no other customers inside. Nobody greeted me or asked if I needed assistance finding something despite me staring right to them. So I took it upon myself to walk to the cash register to make it clear that I needed help. The cashier continued her conversation with another employee, once she was done talking she still ignored me and continued talking to the third employee next to her. The phone rang and nobody was acknowledging me at all. At this point it became apparent they're were purposely just ignoring me. if I could leave a zero star review I would definitely do so. read more

Went on a dive trip with Aaron's and had a great time! I'm certified but had 4 in my group doing discover scuba. The shop made the effort to accommodate our group, which isn't easy to do with that many beginners. We got to the boat and were told that the swell was big and we might not be able to dive. Going out it was clear that vis would not be good and ultimately they ended up canceling that day after testing the water. Much rather have them cancel the dive then send us into hazy water that is surging. They definitely made the right call. They went out of their way to reschedule us the last day before we flew home. That day was perfect conditions and vis was great. I did a deep dive to the LCU (Landing Craft Utility) with the other certifies divers, which was amazing! The remainder of my group waited on the boat and a couple got the skill exercise out of the way. Coolest part of the dive was encountering a shark underneath the wreck!! Our Dive Master was awesome and was the one who spotted the shark sleeping in the back of the overturned wreck. We went to another spot to do two of the shallow dives. I sat out the first to get in my surface time while the rest of the group did their first dive, then we all finished out one last dive together. Eagle ray and turtles on that last dive were the highlights. Definitely the best dive boat trip I have been on! I would recommend Aaron's to anyone looking to get in a really cool deep dive, or any beginners looking to have an unforgettable experience. read more

I was referred to aarons dive shop by the staff of my local dive shop in Phoenix. I am a novice open water diver with only a few dives under my belt (not including all my cert dives). I recommend aarons, would dive with them again, my experience was great and my review is all positive. I chartered a two tank boat dive using aarons dive shop website and the process was easy. They are one of the few shops that use a "live" booking calendar so you can see which types of bookings are available on which days. This feature made the booking much easier because there was no guess work involved and I knew exactly what I was paying for. Aarons confirmed the booking via email and sent a reminder email the day before confirming the excursion selections. Aarons was nice enough to pick me up at my hotel with the other options being to meet at the shop or the dive site boat launch. Neither of these options (specifically hotel pick up incurred any extra cost) Aarons sub contracts its dive excursions to local dive masters or master scuba diver trainers who own independent excursion LLC's. This might scare some people but there is a core group of "employees" that become aarons regulars and the business behind the experience is not an issue. Carsten "SeaMonkey" Kalkman, My MSDT, showed up early at my hotel and drove a company van loaded with gear to the site. The dive group only consisted of 4 people and one was a pro diver so the instructor/student ratio was optimum. Carsten was nice, respectful, and knowledgeable of his profession. He definitely made me feel comfortable gearing up and hopping in the water. His years of experience show and are evidenced in his pre dive briefings and by the way he leads his dives. All of the gear used was in good condition, and suitable for diving. I brought my own mask/snorkel/boots/fins. The first dive was to "Anglers Reef" in Maunalua Bay Oahu, HI. It was an out and back dive to 45' max depth that was cut to 28 minutes when one of the divers ran low on air. There wasn't much to see on this dive but that's the gamble with ocean dives. There were a few fish here and there, an eel, and a puffer fish. The second dive was to "Koko Craters" in Maunalua Bay Oahu, HI. It was a loop to a max depth of 45' that lasted almost an hour. This dive had much more to see including a few sea turtles, many more fish, and some interesting underwater landmarks. Overall: I wasn't expecting the choppiness of the ocean surface (due to high winds) and had to use my regulator upon entry. Not a big deal just unexpected. Another unexpected surprise was the tidal surges during and after descent then throughout the duration of the dive. little scary at first but manageable after a few minutes. The ebb and flow even worked to my advantage sometimes carrying me along so I didn't have to swim, kind of like a drift dive. Cant forget to mention captain Dan and his expertise which helped smooth things along and make for an effortless excursion. Amazing windward side scuba diving experience! Did a morning deep / shallow dive with Ed / Kyle / Captain Garrett today and had an amazing time. Aaron's truly impressed me with their knowledge and professionalism. My dive computer broke before I was supposed to dive, and their staff helped me pick out a perfect new one that fit my needs and budget. Their staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, and you get the sense they care about your diving journey and what's best for you rather than just wanting to sell expensive items. For scuba trips they run the classic early dive deep / shallow or late morning dive shallow x2. They are one of the few scuba companies here to regularly dive out of Hawai'i Kai so their typical dive sites are different than the common Honolulu dives. Today we did the Corsair, which is the classic deep dive out of Hawai'i Kai -- a WWII Corsair that crashed landed in the ocean during a training run in 1946. Shallow dive on this side of the island are filled with turtles and wildlife! I would highly recommend. They also offer a club membership with many benefits including discounted dives and free nitrox upgrades. read more

My boyfriend Nick and I dove with Aaron's Dive Shop in late July of this year. It was my first time ever and his first time diving in the ocean. We had the most incredible time! Our instructor Addison was knowledgeable and an amazing teacher. He was clear about safety and instructions and checked with us regularly to ensure we were comfortable and doing okay. If I'm being honest I was nervous to go, since I had never done anything like that before, but I ended up enjoying it so much my boyfriend and I decided we want to come back to Hawaii to get certified! Patient and friendly while still showing you the good times of Oahu! I have to give a little background: I got open water cert a while ago but also had trouble equalizing. Today I had similar problems while diving with Aaron's (not their fault at all!), but despite that, Aaron's was patient, offered lots of tips, friendly, and didn't get frustrated with me. If you are looking to get more experience, or pick up something new, Aaron's is the perfect learning environment. If you are sick of getting rushed off the boat, go to Aaron's! Our Sunday morning dive was canceled by Aaron's due to heavy current and general bad weather. While we love to dive, it was the right decision, and I really appreciate them putting the divers before their profit...unlike other dive shops I have dove with. So 5 stars to Aaron's even though we didn't dive...I think they got the most important parts right....diver safety first....and enjoyment of the dive second....as no one want to be blowing through their air while fighting a heavy current. I took my Open Water Diver certification through this dive shop and I was very happy with the experience. Very laid back, fun, positive atmosphere here, with helpful, knowledgeable staff. My divemasters, Jake and Kaylee, were absolutely lovely! They were both especially patient and calming as well as professional and fun to work with! I went to an Aaron's dive shop shallow boat dive trip and it was fantastic. I would specifically like to point out the kindness of the staff, as I got seasick and could not dive. They were so patient and nice, which is an amazing trait for this line of work. The captain, garret, hung out with me on the boat while I was up and generally made the puking less miserable. I don't normally write reviews but the staff of Aaron's Dive shop needs to be recognized and praised for their service. After researching dozens of companies on the island to get my Open Water Certification, I went with Aaron's and I couldn't have been happier with my decision. The Dive Master instructors I had were Marina and Patrick and they were everything you would want for an instructor. Marina was so patient and thorough during the confined pool dives with the skills, by the time I went in for my first ocean dive I felt so comfortable to dive. Patrick was great too and was very patient in the ocean when doing the skills and showed us a great time in the water while always checking if we were okay and making sure we were having a great time. Captain Garrett was so helpful too with all the dives and made the boat much more relaxing and easy. Honestly can't say enough of the staff at Aaron's,even for first time divers, I would totally recommend coming here to dive. They take the time to answer the dumbest questions with a smile and believe me, I'll ask some doozies. They have a dive club for locals that allow you to pay a small annual fee and get 1/2 off dives and rentals. They have everything you need to dive, snorkel or spearfish. Got our PADI open dive cert through them. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We had Stefan, Maddie, and Ian as dive instructors. I forgot the skippers' names but they were amazing too. Everyone was so great and they gave us fresh pineapple and lavender towels after our dives. First dive in Hawaii was awesome! Shaun was our dive master and Garret was captain/came on our second dive. Shaun was very professional and laid back at the same time. The boat out to the site was quick and easy. First dive down was beautiful. Conditions were clear and easy. We came up for some fresh pineapple and water to rest before our second dive. Second dive we saw about 4 turtles!! Shaun made sure I got some great pictures with the turtle and was really cool about me taking a million pictures like the tourist I am :) would highly recommend!! The dive sites weren't crowded with other divers and I felt safe and well taken care of. My boyfriend and I went back to rent equipment for the day to do a shore dive and they were once again very nice and helpful, giving us info on great shore dives. Aaron's Dive is a gem if you are looking to dive in Oahu. Trip #1: 2 tank day dive Dive masters Sea Monkey and Jake along with Captain Garret were awesome and made our trip comfortable and entertaining. The dive had a good amount of different tropical fish, turtles and eels. Jake helped us get some awesome GoPro footage. Trip #2: 2 tank night dive The night dive was with dive master Leah and Captain Garret again at the wheel. This was a spectacular dive. First tank we saw loads of fish. However, the second tank stole the show. We saw a Spanish dancer swim off of the rock into the night. It was mesmerizing. Went on two tank dive on 12/25/18. Dive master was Sarah, she was professional, competent & safe. I've got 50 dives in since 1992. Our group had majority of new divers & she immediately keyed in on the people that needed help. In addition she caught a very minor leak on my 2nd stage prior to my 1st dive & only interacted with me once & it was because I was pushing my limits at 108'. She is squared away. Grant did well with assisting her, telling family friendly jokes & the XMas music. Highly recommended Sarah & if she represents status quo for Aaron's you cannot go wrong. I did not want to wake up at 4:30 & drive from the North Shore, but will do that again with Aaron's. read more

I came to Oahu to visit family. Didnt really think about getting some dive time in until after I arrived. While walking around Kailua I spotted Aaron's dive shop, and decided to go see what my options were. They were very reasonably priced for a 2 tank dive with all the equipment. I jumped on it. After signing on, I did the stupid thing and did some research online about their operation. I found some unflattering info. I decided to stay the course knowing I could thumb my dives at any point. I met the DM at the dive shop early in the morning. Very nice guy. Had some great conversation on the way out to the boat. By the time we were at the first dive site I was completely confident everything would be good to go. Made the first dive at the Corsair wreck. It was the most ridiculously awesome dive I've ever done. Second dive was at Sea Cave. Also a very cool dive. We headed back in to the harbor, and then drove back to the shop. The DM and boat captain were all very nice, and very helpful. I couldnt have been happier. I'm pretty sure I'll be making another trip or two to Oahu while my family is living here. Next time I'll bring an extra bag with all my gear, and will be booking my dives with Aarons dive shop. They are a class act. read more

Even though he had an OW student he as cool with our group going off on our own to explore Cocos and Anglers. Dive master Sea Monkey (Carston) certified my 3 teenagers and my wife. They had a great time and are becoming good divers. He gave them a strong base for our upcoming Australia trip. Skilled no-frills dive group. Sarah was an awesome dive master and did a great job herding cats at 100 feet when we were all getting distracted by different parts of the wreck. Incredibly nice equipment and you can dive with enriched air if you are certified for it. If you are an experienced diver looking for to dive Oahu, do not pass these guys up. It was my first time but certainly not my last. Couple of the other divers on the boat are clearly regulars and I understand why. read more

Great dive shop staff, friendly help and advice at the shop, they'll always give you good advice to meet your individual needs- not just try to sell you the most expensive gear as some shops will. As for diving, Aarons instructors and dive masters are experienced and fun to spend time with. They provide individual attention and care at your level.
