If I could rate this restaurant higher I would! What a quaint italian restaurant! We were vacationing in Key West and it was our anniversary and we wanted something more quiet than the typical bars and restaurants found in KW. The food at Abbondanza was so so good! We got the veal parmigiana and the chicken marsala for our main meal and the Caprese salad as an appetizer.We shared each other's meals because they were so good! The decor of the restaurant is perfect! They have these quaint little pillow couches for some of the tables which is so inviting especially if you have larger group. The Hugo cocktail is really refreshing especially in hot weather, I can sip it all day :D We tried the perfectly Roasted Brussels Sprouts special appetizer of the day, and Fried Calamari. But house salad was large, fresh and crunchy - and seafood over linguine in red sauce - very good! The sauce was spicier than expected, the lobster was tough (I had to push the knife to cut it) but the shrimp were outstanding. Large portion. I think it's ridiculous to charge $13.75 for a glass of Chianti - no thanks. Good wait staff. Free parking across the street. I'd go back and try the chicken special! read more

My wife and I are both Italian and we recognize authentic Italian food. What a pleasant surprise Abbondanza Italian Restaurant was on Simonton Ave in Key West. Our waitress was Candace. She was friendly, and very sweet. She received a nice tip. The food was excellent, chicken parmesan for me, and angel hair pasta with tomatoes for my wife. Both meals were fantastic. What a terrific early dinner! My wife and I had the Seafood Scampi with two spiny lobster tails and Linguine Pescatore with clams, lobster tail, clams and fish! These meals are to die for...I mean they both were great and filling. To top it off with Mojitos. The server was outstanding and July is typically the slow season but worth our time as we were able to enjoy our meal in a nice setting. During a week long visit to Key West we walked by Abbondanza a dozen times on our way to restaurants that had been recommended as ''must do" eateries. On our last night in town we were hungry and exhausted and finally found our way to this beautiful gem of a restaurant. To start with, the atmosphere and decor is warm and welcoming and the service staff is wonderful. We had the chicken picatta and traditional spaghetti with homemade meatballs. Delicious!!!! This felt like a local secret even though it's not in any way hidden. Our server was excellent and our food arrived promptly. Some recommendations: the Old Fashioned I had was as good as any I've ever had. There's a little extra orange twist to it that seems appropriate for Key West. The piccata was outstanding and the meatballs were out of this world. Finally... after a week we discovered their key lime pie to be the best of the half dozen we'd tried. This is definitely not a touristy spot. We felt like locals when we dined at Abbondanza. The portions were ample and the prices were very reasonable by Key West standards. We will absolutely go to this treasure again when we return to town! read more

Fish of the day Puttanesca-style with Angel Hair pasta was perfectly cooked and very fresh tomato's, garlic, basil and olives. Lasagna was a large portion and well cooked with fine herbs and layered cheeses. Bread was fresh and flavorful. To top it off we enjoyed a robust Key Lime pie with a flaky crust and a thin layer of chocolate baked in the crust. Only negative?
