Came here for takeout service twice while I was on vacation in Key West. Food is super delicious and the staff is very kind and accommodating. Not sure about this one.... We came with our children making it a party of six... You walk in to the restaurant and you place your order at the register then go find a seat... the staff will deliver your food and drinks to the table. In the middle of placing our order (2 small pizzas, 2-3 entrees and a few drinks), we were abruptly stopped by the young lady taking our order. She asked how many people in our party... I replied we have 6 but some only want pizza and some are a bit more hungry... I laughed thinking she was being funny because we were scrambling with who wanted what... She replied, You have to pay an 18% tip and I am adding it to your check... I responded "For what? We are placing our order here with you... this isn't a sit down service" her response was you are 6 ppl... I was surprised but hungry at the same time... I said ok with great hesitation.... Her response was I won't put it but are you planning on tipping?....I replied we always do and when we aren't demanded a certain price we usually give more... So, let's end on a positive .... This is not just a pizza place - this is an Italian place. And a very good one at that. Ordered the Baked Ziti and Antipasto Salad. Both were spectacular (garlic knots are great too!) Everything was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Pasta was al dente and the sauce was perfection! Delivery was fast and the driver called on the way as promised. Fantastic meal! read more

Ordered pizza from this place later at night after a long day of travel. The ordering process to the delivery was simple and easy. The pizza itself was great! Thinner crust pizza with great tasting sauce and loads of cheese. We also got the eggplant white pie and it was awesome! Pizza is good! We ordered delivery and it was on time without a doubt and the delivery man was very nice! We ordered a large cheese pizza and a small garden salad, totaling to $20. I do have a recommendation for the pizza though, and it would have to be that the crust be a little softer and fluffy. But 2 slices were filling enough and satisfying. Now regarding the salad, I was told that it would include olives and I know that it is something small but if a salad is supposed to come with a specific ingredient it should be included. And I know it's a small salad but 1 slice of tomato cut in half does not count as having tomatoes. But all in all I would order the pizza again if I were in the area. read more

The pizza is good. The service is not. I'm in town for one day so I was unfamiliar with this place. The pies are advertised as by the slice, but not all slices are available that way all the time. When I asked for the one I wanted, I basically got an eye-roll. Which I would do if I had to say the same thing to yet another tourist in my place. That's why I'm not in customer service. If I could give a negative review I would. I tried this pizza place for their pizza and unfortunately it was soggy and greasy, I then being a new local decided to try it again for their anti-pasta salad and garlic knots, WASTE OF MONEY, the salad was cold cuts sliced and then cut into 4ths and laid on top of a bed of lettuce ‍ tonight for the 3rd and final time I tried their lasagna meal ($15.00) for the meal , garlic knots and a salad. UNIMPRESSED. I will NEVER eat at this pizza place again. The garlic knots are "famous" but are barely cooked and slathered in olive oil and garlic and the lasagna is just cheese and oddly cooked meat. Big Johns... you make New Yorkers look bad by advertising your "New York" style anything. read more

Been here 4-5 times now since moving to Key West because it's near my work place. Pizza is great and I've had the fettuccini Alfredo and another pasta dish I can't remember. Clean and pleasant dine in area. Staff is easy going and professional. Pizza is great, crust is good as well read more

Big John's isn't great, but it's not terrible. It's reasonably priced, and quick. The salad leaves much to be desired. It's shredded iceberg lettuce, with a few carrot slivers, a slice of cucumber, a few limp olives and a ring of onion. After discarding the onion, I was left eating just the toppings of that. On to the main dish I ordered - the stuffed shells. OMG, so much cheese. The sauce was uninspired, like a can of hunt's tomatoes over the shells with cheese, cheese and more cheese. The lasange my friend had looked alright, but it was probably the same uninspired saucey mess. Would I eat at Big John's again? Probably. But there are a lot better places to find pasta on KW where you can get a really delicious taste of noodle-y mangia... I'll update this if I ever try the Pizza... read more

It would be unfair to give this place 4-stars because it doesn't compare to the other places I've reviewed - it's not supposed to compare with them. This is for people passing by on busy Duval Street who want a quick bite to eat. Or those people stumbling along Duval Street who need some food in their stomach - as long as they can keep it there! I love this place !! The beautiful serving staff, the excellent food, the good prices (especially for Key West !!), all make for a fantastic dining experience. Excellent food and fast friendly service. Didn't feel like going out so we decided to just order in and have a pizza and salad delivered. The pizza was delicious, nice crispy crust yummy toppings. We also got the shrimp ceasar salad, lots of shrimp and very tasty. My husband devoured the entire salad. We would definitely recommend giving them a try. read more

Beside the specialty pizzas, the other items are just okay. I recommend the stuffed pizza if you want something to really full you up. If you want a pizza that is full of flavor, try the buffalo pizza. As I said before, pretty much any specialty pizza is excellent. Oh and order a side garlic knots. read more

Have stopped here now twice on my business trip. First time got the Baked Ziti and added a side of homemade meatballs. The meatballs and sauce were outstanding and baked ziti was good as well. What blew me away was the second time coming for lunch, I got the Buffalo Chicken pizza slice and the Big John stuffed pizza slice. Both were incredible. Being from the Northeast, this is up there with some of the best pie I've had, especially that buffalo chicken pizza. The ranch sauce for it is out of this world. We arrived into Key West Airport at sunset after flying our little plane from Guatemala to Cozumel to Florida in one day. We had skipped lunch and were exhausted. To top it off, we had a mountain of laundry to do at the hotel, so we didn't feel like we had time to go out for dinner. A pizza sounded like the best thing in the world. After doing some research on Yelp, we chose to have Big John's Pizza delivered to the hotel. The gal that answered the phone took our order correctly, read it all back, and said it would arrive in 45 minutes. It arrived right on time! The delivery guy was professional, had the right amount of change for me (from which I gave him a nice TIP), and he even smiled! It made a long day much more bearable. The pizza itself was delicious. Was looking for some casual Italian food to be delivered and Big John's had decent reviews so we gave 'em a try. Big mistake. Although their website says "Pizza, Pasta and Subs" the pasta dishes were among the worst we've ever had. Overcooked to the point that all the pasta, meat and veggies were basically mush. Bland, no flavor, no sauce at all except for the lowest quality canned garlic mush I've ever seen. All the dishes were bland and Americanized. No Italian has ever set foot in this place. It is low quality ingredients for tourists. To top it all off, Big John's, primarily a PIZZA DELIVERY PLACE for tourists at hotels, does not send their drivers with ANY parmesan cheese or crushed red pepper (both of which are desperately needed to give this food any taste). . When I placed my order, I specifically asked that they bring red pepper and the bubble-headed gal that took my order was like yeah, yeah, whatever. When I called the manager to ask what happened, he said they only bring cheese or pepper when requested, which I did. Let me get this straight, you are a pizza delivery place and you dont send your drivers with parmesan or red pepper? HELLO MCFLY!!!!!!!!! We visit Key West often and WILL NOT be ordering or visiting this place ever again. Pizza Hut pan pizza (down the street) was better. read more

Great place if your on vacation and just want to get a quick slice of pizza before going down town!

Last night my child along with two other kids went to big John to try and get take out pizza and was denied service. One of the workers held the door closed and told them to get away that they couldn't come in. So the kids told them we only want some pizza and the women started screaming at them and shut the door in their face! This morning i called the owner and explained to him what happened and how the kids had been treated and he told me he was very aware of what happened and because of the amount of orders for delivery they had they couldn't serve them. I explained to him that the kids just wanted pizza to go and told him how the woman treated them and again all he said was what they couldn't serve them because of the amount of deliveries they had. I aslo started to him how we're locals and we eat there at least twice week spending at least 100$ every time but the man could careless. I don't want special treatment because I'm a local but if I'm going there twice a week spending big amounts of money the least they could have done was explained to kids or anyone who eats there in a nice way why they couldn't service them not be rude and treat them like animals! I also told the owner since he wanted to be nasty i was going to post a review allowing everyone to know how he don't value his customers and his response was ok that's fine with me. So to all local and tourists here is how the workers and owner of big John's treat people and value their customers. read more
