I stumbled upon this restaurant while walking on the beach in Key West. It was a great day out and was able to sit on the patio. I ordered the yellowtail salad and an Italian lemonade. The fish was super fresh and tasty. I had a great lunch but had to remove a star for service. I was alone and it took a moment to get seated. Once seated, it took a bit to be served. I had to remind the waitress I was there. Everyone was super nice and they were busy and may have been short staffed. I would recommend paying this restaurant a visit. read more

We came here for dinner during our trip to Key West. Here is what I thought. Atmosphere: Salute! is a quiet little place located along the beach in Key West. It is definitely a beach bar/restaurant. All the staff we encountered were friendly. Our table was nice and clean. We sat outside and had a beautiful view of the ocean! There was a nice breeze so we never felt hot while eating outside. Service: Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Our food came out fresh and delicious. Food: You can tell the focus here is FOOD. They had a small regular menu and a specials menu that changed everyday. They don't sell any fried food here which I loved because we eat so healthy! I got their 'Pina Colada' as a drink, it was so light and refreshing. They also provide free bread and butter once you order. I had their Caprese salad with a side of roasted potatoes which was light and refreshing for a hot summer day. My husband had their cheeseburger with potato salad and enjoyed it. Located on the beach with a wide view of the ocean. We dined outside and enjoyed the scenery of people walking by and some playing volleyball. Our server was friendly and attentive. Wonder fine casual dining on the Clarence S Higgs beach in Key West. Both Richelle and Dad got the lobster special, amazing, Florida's lobster, scallops, and a vodka sauce. I usually don't like vodka sauce but this one was different and I liked it. I got the grouper special, the sauce had a heavy lime flavor that at first I was not sure I would enjoy, but once I had some it completely brought a bright and acidic touch to the grouper. It's been a while since I have been to Salute on the Beach because it is very touristy, but at the insistence of my friend, I gave it another shot! I stopped in for a late lunch and was seated right away. I ordered the shrimp sandwich a salad instead of potato salad. Everything was delicious, fresh and light... Salute had a summer promo where they offer half off on main entrees before 7PM, I believe. This worked out perfectly for us, and we got to even enjoy a game of volleyball, which the outdoor seating was next to. My Fettuicine Alfredo with Scallops ($41 originally, $20.5) was alright if it wasn't for the divine blackened scallops. I'm skeptical around scallops usually in my dishes due to the blandness, but blackened helped tremendously in seasoning them well. Lastly, I am so happy they have Blue Heaven's Key Lime Pie ($11) here since Blue Heaven was closed for the season. Not only are they tall, but they might just be the few pies out there that have a meringue topping. read more

On 01-18-25 my wife and I decided to spend the day at Higgs Beach. One of the reasons we decided on Higgs was the Salute On the Beach Restaurant. You can get drinks from the bar and go back to the beach. Just a short 100 yards or so from beach to restaurant. Let me tell you this is as close to paradise as it gets. Look at the view. At Salute I experienced two firsts. I had Stone Crab for the first time. The crab was lite in flavor and not real sweet. There was a honey mustard dipping sauce that was good. We also had the gazpacho soup and blackened chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious. Finally, we had to try our very first Key Lime Pie. We had forgotten the day before to get a slice @Blue Heaven. Fortunately for us Salute gets their Key Lime Pie from Blue Heaven. I was surprised I liked the pie a lot. So did my wife. The pie was sweet and just tart enough and the graham cracker crust was buttery and enough texture to go with the rest of the pie. If You're looking for a great place to spend the day at the beach and have food and drinks close by look no further. Go and see why this is a slice of heaven. read more

Servers are prompt- it's usually pretty steady crowd but even on 4th of July bartenders were hustling and no one waited very long for their beverages. We had dinner at a restaurant downtown the night prior to dining at Salute. We asked the waitstaff who in the city had the BEST key lime pie. She spoke highly of Blue Heaven. I called them to see if they were open and was advised they were on vacation. The person on the phone advised we could check out their other restaurant Salute on the Beach To our surprise this restaurant was in very close proximity to the hotel we were staying at. The restaurant is located on Higgs Beach. There is ample parking available in front of and to the rear of the restaurant. The host stand is located outside . We are not accustomed to the Key's heat so we opted to dine inside. However, I would highly recommend sitting outside and enjoying the view of the beach. All of the staff were friendly and simply a good time. It appears that everyone just helps out where needed. They had a regular menu as well as a printed sheet with all of the specials. I ordered the tuna stuffed avocado. My guy had the snapper entree. The food came out fairly quickly, but did appear to be fresh. I really enjoyed the stuffed avocado it was light but filling. I tried the snapper. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Now for the main event: the Key Line pie!! Oh my! The presentation is amazing! The meringue on this pie is out of this works massive!! It is torched on the top to give it a little color, and some additional flavor. Let me tell you- the pie was fantastic. My guy does not even care for key lime pie but he gladly helped me eat this slice. We cleaned the plate!! This is a great place to dine at while in Key West. Among our most treasured memories from this last summers cross-country road trip was, believe it or not, having lunch. for the sake of this review, I will just state a given in the equation that our family does not really do lunch when we're traveling; generally speaking, we make peanut butter and jelly in the car or skip it all together as we are out adventuring, exploring, and having a good time in a new location. But when we inquired with the front desk staff at our camp spot on nearby Stock Island where we should visit in Key West, they told us you simply have to visit Saluté On The Beach. They were right. We arrived to the adjacent beach pretty early in the morning, staked out our spot on the white sand between clumps of somewhat stinky Sargasso weed, and enjoy the morning of snorkeling and swimming around in the bath temperature water. The beach is probably fodder for a different review, but suffice to say, about lunch time we were getting peckish, and as my dad says in Vegas, "we're not here for a haircut." We walked in to Saluté still wet and sandy from our outdoor fun, and the nice fellow who runs the joint found us a shady spot on the patio. My SoCal kids could not get enough of the iguanas, curl tailed lizards, and ubiquitous roosters and chickens casually hanging out around our table. The service was impeccable, friendly and not stuffy, sophisticated but casual, with a postcard review of the cobalt and azure waters framed by white sand and coconut palm trees that were almost cliché. Nothing cliché about the menu here, though: everything was delicious, and I wish we had ordered more. My kids scarfed down the calamari appetizer almost before I could get a bite, and then ravenously enjoyed their own plates. Drinks never ran empty thanks to the attentive servers, and we even finished it off with a big slice of their famous Key Lime pie, mile high with meringue. After starting back to work on a new school year, and during the SoCal heat of late August, memories slowly fading from our once in a lifetime trip this past summer, I can honestly say I would much rather be sitting at this restaurant right now than writing a Yelp review about it. I suppose, however, that seeing the pictures provides some relief, and galvanizes my resolve that our family will visit this awesome spot again as soon as we can. read more
