Usually when there's a Bill Grey's, there's an Abbott's. After our meal, I got a single scoop (~$5) of the vanilla almond ice cream with a cone. I really liked how the almonds are infused into the ice cream, which gave it a nice crunch inbetween the creamy custard. The flavor is something different, but so tasty. This was my first time trying frozen custard and it was solid. I finally understand what it means to have harder soft serve but not quite hard ice cream! A few complaints: (1) My sister asked for Snickers as a topping and, after paying, didn't receive any toppings. We didn't even notice until we got to the parking lot so we weren't able to go back to Abbott's and point this out. (2) We arrived 15-20 minutes before closing time and waited outside for a good 10 minutes. Then a server came out and cut the line off right at my family's spot, saying that everyone past a certain person had to go inside and get to the back of that line... That was pretty annoying given the arbitrary cutoff, and because we'd been waiting in line for a while already. I'd probably come back again for the frozen custard, but I definitely wasn't a fan of the service. read more

We went to a place nearby that said they were closed even though it was 45min before the time listed on their web site. So we walked here, and I'm glad we did. We had 5 people, and it didn't take long to get served, and the ice cream was great. I got a chocolate/black raspberry milk shake, and it was *great*. We got a Vanilla Custard and a Chocolate Almond custard, baby size $3 each, and they were more delicious than any girl in any rap video ever (almost). The service was nice. The place was packed full of people. It shares the location with a Bill Gray's so there are twice as many customers. The location of the store is amazing! It's right across from the ocean... or rather Lake Ontario, which is so big that it may as well be the ocean. It's up in "Seabreeze" right next to an amusement park of the same name. It is one of my fave 3 locations of this local chain, anywhere. I love it. I've been to this one twice now and there will be a third time soon, especially while it's summer. And it's a great, spacious, clean, air conditioned lobby to hang out in. And your custard won't instantly melt. The parking lot is massive and easy, like my mother. There's something very special about Abbott's. I love frozen custard, but all custards are not created equal. I get so maniacally enthusiastic about this stuff that I usually end up in Police Custardy. And as I've said before, You'll find Abbott's inside Bill Gray's. It's a separate business that shares a space, much like Taco Bell/KFC do in many places. The employees inside work for both. It's one of my "best 5 custards I've ever had." I think I like custard more than ice cream, more than fro yo, less than real gelato, but that's beside the point. Focusing specifically on custard, which is sort of like soft-serve-but-creamier, the best in the country are Leon's in Milwaukee, followed by Nielsen's in Vienna, VA just outside DC, and then Abbott's in 3rd. After that, I think Cleveland has the next-best, and then there are a lot that are more or less tied. There are many BG/Abbott's in Rochester, and a couple in Buffalo. In my experience they have all been fantastic, and this is one of the very best and a clear 5 star place. Now let's finish up with more Mixalot. I used to love abotts. I grew up going to third locations as a kid. Today was the last straw. Stopped in for a custard TWIST today and what I got was soft melting ice cream that was scooped out of a container. It was melting as she was handing it to me. The little amount of sprinkles she gave me fell off seconds after she handed because the ice cream was soft soft! Very disappointed. read more

I waited a half an hour to get my custard. The staff seemed overwhelmed and like they didn't know what they were doing. There was no leader helping them out either. Also there were ice chunks in the custard. I'm very unsatisfied with this experience. read more
