This is a great place for families and kids it's close to the lake we were visiting and the place looked unique so we went to check it out, the locals kept talking about a trashcan plate, so had to try one. There is a bar area with great service and local beers on tap along with other draft beers from other locations. We enjoyed it and family friendly atmosphere. read more

Needless to say, we spent $60 and got 3 kids meals and 2 burgers (not even meals). Food came out pretty fast, girl at the counter was ok. Was made almost accurate. This chain restaurant in Rochester is quite popular. We made a stop here for a light dinner. I got the 12pcs Chicken Wings and Onion Rings. The wings are good and juicy. They also have a number of sauces to dip with too. I'm not sure why the wings aren't listed on the menu though, but they were at another location so we knew they had them. Stopped in for an ice cream at closing time. Ice cream is delicious as always... The kitty cone is pretty small and if you order the vanilla almond you'll maybe get three almonds in it. Definitely add the extra almonds on the top. We heard lots of talking and wondered if it was the TV but went back to investigate and discovered the tap room in the back... Though I'd tried a regionally authentic Garbage Plate during last year's visit to upstate New York my friends thought I should try one more, get my fill for 2018. We'd watched the sun set over Lake Ontario from beach chairs at Marge's (across the street) then walked over to Bill Gray's for - there's no other way to put it - junk food. For my last meal before returning to the west coast, Bill Gray's Seabreeze was a puzzling choice. It's basically a big fast food purveyor with young, t-shirt clad workers manning the cash register. Whatever I thought of the food though, there's little denying that I left overly full. On Tuesdays, Bill Gray's Seabreeze discounts their Garbage Plates to a mere $6.99 (from $10.99) and trust when I say you need not spend a penny more. I didn't even need breakfast before leaving the next morning. On an annual basis now I seem to be coming more of an expert on Garbage Plates and in comparing this year's to last (elsewhere, at a seat from an outdoor table overlooking the water) I'll say that Bill Gray's comes in 2nd place. First, there is that awareness that one is in a fast food joint (pro tip: sit outdoors to help scale this hurdle). Second is the fact that I didn't see the outdoor seating until leaving and thus, sat indoors surrounded by tables which were not cleaned or not well cleaned and I couldn't help notice the bugs flying around the catsup dispenser. Bill Gray's could benefit from paying more attention to clean-up. The food itself? Like some sort of advanced algebra equation, the Garbage Plate is comprised of en endless variety of options. One of us ordered his with the extremely spicy meat gravy, fries, a beef patty, and a white veal hot dog. Another opted for the same protein choices sans gravy, but with tater tots nestled beside the macaroni salad. In a nod to my Cali roots I smothered my mac salad, 2 cheeseburger patties, and tater tots with lettuce, tomato, mustard, catsup, and pickles. It "almost" looked like a salad. If what you're seeking is fast food, Bill Gray's Seabreeze seems like an acceptable choice but if you're expecting anything more probably not. Still, there's no denying that "bang for your buck" should you be seeking an authentic Rochester Garbage Plate on a Tuesday. read more

This Seabreeze Bill Gray's is pretty good but ordered the chicken sandwich. Bread was moldy. My husband ate the same thing it by the time I saw it he ate it all. So we're not sure if he ate any mold. He eats really fast so he didn't notice it. He did have some gastro upset for the next three days. But who really knows. They were great about it. Got a refund and a gift card. Mistakes happen but just be on the look out. I'll stick to more common items from now on. Btw. Their rewards program is great. I have been back since. I did wait some time though. read more

There is quite a bit of construction going on in the area but usually this is a great place to view the lake or Irondequoit Bay and then stop here for a bite to eat. They have all the proper protections in place to assure our safety. The staff is friendly and courteous, the food is quality bar food for the most part. Their burgers and fish sandwiches are our favorites. Of course one of the biggest reasons for deciding to dine here is they have thee best ice cream parlor attached to the Tap Room. Tonight I saw a staff member wipe her gloved hands on her T-shirt and then her shorts and then put her hands in a container of pickles to give a serving to a customer. Same employee put her gloved hands on the dirty counter while she gabbed with a coworker and went back to the pickles to serve another customer with those dirty gloves on her hands! Why is there no utensil for the pickles? Any thoughts to food safety? So gross! No adults are present and there seems to be no one managing. The restaurant is dirty and out of control. I'm picking up food for my neighbors and I'm seriously glad I'm not eating the food here. This place is disgusting. Returned to Bill Grays for a flight of beer and a burger. Tap room was fairly busy but found a seat easily. We ordered the special burger combo-two cheeseburgers with an order of fries ( upgraded to sweet potato waffle fries) for $11.99 with coupon available online. My flight consisted of the Saranac pumpkin ale ( my favorite) , Stoneyard Peach Kolsch, Rorbach blueberry ale and Stoneyard Chocolate Almond Custard Stout. All this yumminess for $8.00! On to the burger-they accommodated my Keto again but serving the burger on lettuce. Everything was delicious and our server/ bartender ( how he managed the whole room and bar by himself with a smile and great service is mind boggling !) was awesome! This is a hidden gem. I don't feel it was busy enough to warrant the issues we experienced. The burger was great...nice add on is the texas hot relish that Ted's Hot Dog's employs...maybe the same brand (or some serious industrial espionage was done). Fries were a bit of overfried krinkle cut but cooked to wooden consistency (didn't really matter was there for the burger..), but I saved them for feeding the seagulls (aka River Chickens in the 1000 Islands) One will notice in addition to being on the banks of LO, the amusement park sits nearby....so I suspect this place is jammed in the summer. I saw a very plump man chow down on a Garbage Plate outside the eatery...so the classic Rochester soul food is offered here as well. It's bill grays food and when you come here in the off season (not summer) there is little to no wait. I will say I'm not a fan of their garbage plates, the home fries were a little under cooked and the flavoring of the sauce was lacking it was just hot but not much else. Their burger with bbq and bacon is pretty delicious, nothin fancy but still good. Overall, you get what you expect from any other bill grays location. They also now have bottled pop which they didn't use to have, at least at this location. read more

If you're baking, then you might use "Fill Trays". I wonder if they use those at Bill Grays. I'm going to be pondering this for awhile... excuse me. This is one of my favourite Bill Gray's, and I'm not the only one, it seems. It's right next to Seabreeze in one of the loveliest parts of town. I've been here two or three times, usually when I'm visiting the beach. I tend to get the World's Greatest Cheeseburger, and a Vanilla Custard from Abbott's which is part of it. I love them both, a lot. It's a very busy store, and understandably so. The location is absolutely fantastic, on Culver Road right by the lake and beach (next to Don's Original). The employees here are nice, and the products are excellent. Same price and menu as all of the other Bill Grays and Abbott's location. Despite the masses of customers, the parking is perfectly good. I recommend getting the "World's Greatest Cheeseburger" as it is very good, and of course some of the Abbott's Custard, but that's a separate business, so I'll review it separately. read more

don't get me wrong, the foods decent, but my complaint is more so revolving around the price. for the price of a burger and fries is over 10 dollars, despite the fact that it's a paper thin burger and your fingers slip through the soggy bottom bun. if you want a small side of baked beans, it's 4 dollars. let's assume you wanted a garbage plate with 3 sides, universally this would cost you 13-16 dollars anywhere else, but at bill grays it's 20 dollars. absolutely not worth the price, considering an entire can of beans is 2 dollars and they serve you half a can for 4. this place has been going down hill, in both the quality and the price. I wouldn't recommend going here for a "worlds greatest cheeseburger" it's thin, the bottom bun is always drenched in grease, and your spending way to much for what you get. however, this is what's expected from a coupon restaurant. read more

I love Bill Grays but this is by far the worst Bill Gray's of all. We just visited on 2/21/21. The staff seems like taking an order and handing you food is bothersome. The tables and counters were filthy. The trash was overflowing. The service was incredibly slow despite not being very busy.
