My 15 year old GE refrigerator began making a horrible banging sound. I called ABC fearing the worst. Their service tech arrived on time and said he suspected ice rattling in the ice maker. An hour later, he had cleared out big chunks of ice, my refrigerator was working like new and I was breathing a huge sigh of relief over a $200 repair charge instead of a $2,000 new fridge! Shame on you. After installing my dishwasher about 1 1/2 yrs ago, you needed to return not long afterward because it wasn't staying secure. The machine would tilt away a bit, when loading. First , you had the nerve to charge the DW manufacturer to re-secure it, as if it was a defect when it was your work. Now over a year later, it's 'falling out' again. I called and you today and you had the nerve to want to charge me 129.00 just to come out. All you needed to do was arrange to stop buy and do the fix when you're in the area sometime. Admit, I recently discovered they charged $80 to shut/open an existing gas valve to new Dryer. "That's what we charge.' I am appealing to "Management." T/B/D. This business is a scam. Do not call them for a service repair. First of all, the women who run the phones are very unprofessional, unhelpful, and rude. Second, they send a "technician" to look at your appliance (which off the bat is $130) and then they tell you what needs to be done. They told us that our compressor wasn't running, and they found a bad inverter and that they needed to be replaced. Charged us $525 and said it would take 24 hrs for temperatures to stabilize. After 4 days, still not working. When we called to inquire, the lady who sounded straight out of a trailer park, was rude and said we don't do compressor work! I don't know what to tell you. If you want the technician to come back out its another $130. and then she hung up. When we called back she put us on the line indefinitely. Why would you charge someone for work that isn't going to help fix the issue and then tell them they need additional work that you don't do in order to fix the problem. This business is an absolute joke and should be ashamed to have ruined their name in edgewater, my family's been using abc for 30+ years, today we were charged $180 for rich to come out and flip a breaker switch than say "well if it's not that I need to come back another day" he came to look at our oven, he knew he was looking at an oven, yet brought none of his oven tools. We waited a week for this appointment and we're told that we weren't special just because we had waited a week, and that we were going to have to wait another week. Over the multiple phone calls we had afterwards, rich told my mother that she should just listen to him because "I'm the technician not you or your son" Rich is really a wonderful guy, walked away and called me an asshole while I was on the phone with him and then came back and hung up on me. This business really is just a bunch of people that were decent 20 years ago and are stuck in their childish ways, I feel bad for everyone I ever recommended them to. read more

This was my first time using this company, recommended by two friends. Since I prefer to support small business whenever possible, I decided to give them a try. Very nice experience. I actually called, they told me what washer they had in stock and I agreed to the purchase and set up a delivery date. They showed up on the promised date, set up the washer, showed me how to use it and what I could expect in certain situations. I need a refrigerator and stove (upgrading) as well; and I will definatlely be purchasing from them. I had him measure while he was here. Did not notify us that they were unable to cover warranty but did send out a service rep that charged us $120. They could not do the warranty work so instead of informing of this to us, we found it out on our own and had all the service work done under warranty. simply they should have told us they could not do warranty work and recommended to us a place that could. I have done business with these people for over 20 years but that is now terminated. they were however pretty good about hounding us to pay the bill. read more

I called to have my oven repaired and I was told someone would call me on a certain day between 7-8 AM to schedule my appointment. No one called so I went about my day and went to teach a class. I came home to find out that the tech let himself into my home and left me a bill for coming by. I was not home, he let himself in after never having called to schedule an appointment. It is not only illegal to trespass into someone's home, but it is invasive and unsettling. And rather then provide a single apology, management doubled down and made an appalling comparison to 9/11. Someone might have a good time experience, but there is a reason their score is so low. I'm guessing they are still in business because there is a demand and very little supply. hint to management: a simple apology for your trespassing (by definition) employee goes a long way. read more

I have two freezers in my house: a large one in my basement and an equally large refrigerator/freezer combo in my kitchen. My wife hired ABC Appliance primarily to fix our basement freezer, which had started working only up to refrigerator temperatures and was thus damaging our frozen food--a crisis given how much frozen food we had. As a secondary matter, we hired them to fix an annoying leak in the ice dispenser of our refrigerator/freezer combo. ABC Appliance said that major parts in the downstairs freezer had stopped working and that it would cost over $1,000 to completely fix. They thus recommended we buy a new freezer, which they sold and could deliver soon. That recommendation sounded quite reasonable, as the freezer was almost 20 years old. ABC Appliance diagnosed the leaky ice dispenser as due to a simple plastic part that needed replacement. This would entail another service call to bring and install the part. The part itself probably cost less than ten cents to manufacture and was priced at only $13.99. Since every time we opened the freezer door (multiple times a day) a puddle of water landed on our wooden floor as a result of water accumulating under the ice dispenser, we thought spending $100 or so for parts and labor to fix it a reasonable investment. ABC Appliance returned for a second trip and installed the very simple piece of plastic, called a door, as it separated the inside ice maker from the outside dispenser. Alas, the replaced plastic door didn't fix the problem. Meanwhile, we had an electricity outage after a storm. Miraculously, the outage fixed the problem with the downstairs freezer even though no electrical repairs had been done. At no point had the ABC Appliance repairment speculated that simply defreezing the freezer might solve the problem. My wife vigorously complained to ABC Appliance about the ineffectual plastic door replacement, and they graciously agreed to come out free of charge to fix the leaky ice dispenser. After the technician arrived--a new one--he diagnosed the problem as an uncleaned ice maker mechanism. He expected to be paid to clean it, and I agreed to pay him do so. He meticulously took the ice maker apart, cleaned it, and got it working again. He showed me why that was the problem with the leak--the ice maker lever was frozen and wouldn't move--which all seemed very plausible to me. Alas, after I paid him and he left, we discovered that the leaky ice maker leaked as before. So we had now spent some $400 to ABC Appliance to misdiagnose problems three times and not actually fix anything. One problem with ABC Appliance may be that they sell appliances and could thus be motivated to sell those appliances on an emergency basis to people whose freezers have stopped working. This is just a hypothesis to explain their strange failure to diagnose what in retrospect was an obvious problem with our downstairs freezer. Since at all times ABC Appliance acted in a professional manner and hired personable technicians, I am giving them a C rather than F. read more

I am surprised to see so many bad reviews. I did get the run around at first but they finally sent a good technician to my house for my refrigerator. It was not a simply fix. They charged me $300 and when they didn't fix it the first time they came back and replaced parts until it was fixed and charge me no additional money for even the three additional parts they put in. I wish my auto mechanic would charge me one price and fix it until it was fixed when they found additional problems. What is even better - the ice in my ice maker would always melt and freeze together since it was new. I even had it looked at under warranty and the warranty company said it was fine. So now it works better than new. It took some time but they stuck with it. read more

I have been using ABC Appliance for 18 years for my stove, fridge, dishwasher, and dryer and every experience has been positive. Their service charge is $99.95 ( which is less than most other places,) and they almost always have availability sooner than later. Other reviews say they are just money grabbing but I disagree. Recently they came to diagnose a broken dishwasher...yes it only took 20 minutes and it was $99.95 but that's all that was needed to make the diagnosis. Their price for the new part was comparable to what I could get it for online. They got it in quickly and set up a new appointment before the part even came in. FRAUD! RUN! They are unethical and dangerous. I actually caught them committing fraud on video. Here's their fraud game: They get paid for the initial service call by the warranty company/manufacturer/customer, but intentionally do not fix everything, have the customer sign a waiver to their 30-day warranty that specifically states if they are needed again within 30 days that the customer has to pay them out of pocket, and then charge the customer for their next service fee as well as the parts. If the customer refuses to sign their warranty waiver, they show up a second time either adamant that there is nothing wrong, or if a manufacturer is paying for it, they falsify pictures to "prove" that the issues are the customer's fault (i.e., they kink water hoses, move items to block vents), not an issue with the appliance. A manufacturer won't pay for an additional service call fee within 30 days if the service provider missed something during diagnostics, which is why ABC Appliance wants you to sign a waiver to your 30-day warranty. I have a new refrigerator under warranty having issues. The condescending repairman first said that the issues were my fault and tried to "mansplain" how to push buttons on the icemaker....until I insisted that he run diagnostics and he discovered issues. He wasn't expecting me to have already diagnosed the issues with my manufacturer's website. I told him that my research indicated that another part needed to be replaced, but he refused to run diagnostics on that part. After repair, they asked me to sign a waiver to the 30-day warranty that covers their repairs stating that if I had more issues within 30 days, they are not responsible and wouldn't be covered under the warranty repair. The repairman became aggressive and yelled at me when I refused to sign it; his behavior made me concerned for my safety. Unsurprisingly, my issues weren't fixed. The repairman came back at the insistence of our refrigerator manufacturer; our manufacturer could only send the same company because it's industry standard to give the repair company 30 days from repair to fix it. He then rearranged the items in my fridge, and took pictures of his rearrangement. He sent those pictures to the manufacturer and told my manufacturer that was proof that the issues were my fault. I kept those items, so his fingerprints will be on them, too, if they try to say they didn't touch them. Unbeknownst to the ABC Appliance repairman, I had been taking video proof of my fridge every day--which is time and date stamped. I took a video of what it looked like immediately before he entered our house and immediately after he left--so I was able to prove that they lied to my manufacturer in an official document. The rearranging he did in my fridge was what the repairman used to "prove" that the issues were my fault for blocking the vent. He blocked the vent on purpose and then lied to our manufacturer. Our manufacturer said they are filing an official complaint against them for obvious fraud and ethical issues, and they are sending a new company to our home to repair our refrigerator. If you're paying out of pocket, expect them to take your money and never fix your appliance. read more

I paid $89.95 for them to come out and completely mid-diagnose the issue with my dishwasher. I was told I needed a new control board. I was told it would cost close to $500 dollars to replace the board and would I like to set up the repair? I said, not at this time. After they left, I did some research and found out the code on the display meant there was an issue with the water draining. I checked the hoses and unit and was able to determine the drain pump failed. I was aware of the walking in the door fee, but I don't feel I should have to pay for a completely wrong dIagnosis, and failure of the repair person to know what an error code is! They gave all kinds of excuses about the part not being in due to pandemic (which may have been true, but they were not making any effort to keep me updated). When I finally called after two months of no communication, they were like "oh this part that's been sitting here for two weeks is yours!" Like when were you going to figure that out and call me?? Telephone customer service is less than ideal; borderline rude. Tech was not very communicative. It was an uncomfortable interaction. It also is very telling that they don't have electronic records and have to dig through stuff to remember what you're trying to call about it. Hoping the fridge is fixed. I called ABC Appliance on 11/4 to get an estimate cost to replace a part on our washer. The woman that answered told me she couldn't give me an estimate at that time because their price book was with a technician on a call. I submitted a request from their website on 11/6 to get an estimate cost to replace the same part, figuring they could give me the estimate whenever the price book was back in the office. The contact form asks for all information regarding the appliance (model #, serial #, part needed) all of which I supplied. On 11/11 I followed up through their online customer portal as I still had not received a response. Finally, on 12/2 I submitted yet another request through their website for an estimate to replace the same part as I still had not received a response. I provided all of the pertinent information (model #, serial #, part needed). A woman from the office called me later that day saying she couldn't give me an estimate because she'd need the model and part numbers and then she'd have to look it up later when the book was in the office again. I told her I provided all of that information on their web contact form, to which she replied "well I guess we didn't get it". And that was it, end of conversation. She didn't offer to help in any other way or to take the information down again. Needless to say, we'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

In April of this year, ABC Appliance removed my GE Advantium oven from my house for repair in their shop. We were told that the part needed for the repair, a $29.95 relay, was back-ordered and would not be delivered from China until late July. I called ABC on August 5 to check on the status of the repair. I was told by Mack (owner?) that I had instructed him to discard my oven. When I protested that was not true, he said it was his word against mine and that he had lawyers. These people are liars and thieves. read more

ZERO stars. Horrible customer service. Lady who answered the phone was unbelievable.Here's how the conversation went. Lady: Hello. Me: Hi, yes my property manager suggested I give you a call to schedule a repair. Lady: Oh reeeeally? (condesending tone) well who's your property manager? Me: Do you want to do my repair? Lady: I'm not scheduling anything until I know who's paying for it. Me: My property manager's name is (I told her the name). Lady: Never heard of her. Who's she with? Me: With (I told her the company) Lady: I have no idea who that is, so she's going to have to call me herself. Me: No thank you. I will be calling someone else. Hung up. This lady never asked how she could help me, what type of item did I need repaired, or when I needed it repaired. She immediately (and incorrectly) assumed I could not or would not pay. And she refused to schedule the repair. Hello? Are you flipping kidding me?!! I expected that she would be delighted that my property manager referred me to her business. Do you think my property manager would get a "thank you?" She just as well should have answered the phone "ABC Appliance - What the hell do you want? Don't call here again!" It would have been just as effective as the approach she chose to take. Lesson: This is how NOT to treat your customers. I will NEVER do business with this company. RUN the other direction! This company is a total RIP OFF. The technician came out to find out why my fairly new (14 month old) refrigerator stopped cooling. The only tool he used was a thermometer to confirm that the freezer was working but the fridge was not cooling. He charged me $89.95 on the spot for the service call and told me he would call me after he "reviewed some schematics at the office". The following day he called to tell me the cost to replace the control board and a motor was $743 on a $2,400 refrigerator (1/3 the original cost). How he came to that conclusion when he never even took out a screwdriver is beyond me. After receiving this quote, my husband took the fridge apart, blew out some debris from off the fan, and within minutes the fridge started cooling and has worked ever since! We called the office to let them know that we felt like we had been "taken" and that we will be "blowing up social media with poor reviews". If I could give a ZERO rating I would...Find another repair company and don't be deceived by their friendly technician -- they were simply not upfront or trustworthy. read more

Awful customer service. They would not give me a estimated window until the day of and once they did, they did not arrive in estimated 3 hour window and did not call to say they would be outside of it. The technician said he would call me back that evening or at the latest the next morning. At 3pm the next day they still had not called. Their word is crap. My father had the same issue with their dishwasher in another state and it cost him a total $80 to fix. The guy would not even give me the part number so I could order the part online after charging me $90 for approximately min of their time which was a complete waste. Do NOT use them. Shady practice. I was replacing a stove top range and went to ABC for their opinion. I provided the cut out measurements on the granite countertop to the front office staff. The staff told me there were no units that would work with my present cutout. Based on that info I determined I needed to cut the countertop. ABC contacted me and told me someone from there business was in the area and wanted to see if there was another way to install the stovetop without cutting. They came and confirmed my measurements. They told me there was no other way to install but to cut. I hired a seperate company who did a great job. Never told me they were charging me a measuring fee. I was the one who provided them with the numbers since I took out the old unit. I did all the measuring and knew I needed to open the countertop for the new unit. After a discussion with the front office regarding the price of the stove top when compared to Home Depot, I was told I might pay a little more for the stovetop but ABC only charged $75.00 plus parts a lot cheaper than Home Depot. I was replacing the same stovetop and all the parts were already there. I purchased the stovetop from ABC for which they overcharged my credit card and stated installation was $75.00 plus parts. This was put on my receipt. I picked up the stovetop so it would be here for measuring the opening. I had two great installers come to the house. They did a great job. At the end on the installation they handed me a bill for $245.00 for the installation- App.$80.00 for measuring-in which I measured and removed the old unit, $40.00 for the delivery of the stove top in which I picked up, 75.00 for installing-i agreed to pay and 50.00 for the conversion to propane-I was not told but in the end I think this is OK. I had no issue with the 75.00 since it was on my receipt and there were no parts needed. The other charges were add on and were never told to me.I did not want to take up the issue with the installers since they told me they got their orders from the front office. I immediately contacted ABC, the front office told me they would look into it. I called the store on at least 5 occasions and was given a story of we were looking into it. I made my last call and I was told by the front office that the owner was not interested in looking at this any further and the charges stand. The problem with ABC is the front office not the installers in my opinion. This organization does not care about backing up there word and has no interest in customer satisfaction. There is lack of integrity by the ownership of ABC. I caution everyone who deals with this company to protect yourself from hidden fees and trust but verify everything. I would give the installers 5 stars for their work but the ownership and front office a minus 3 stars resulting in my 2 star rating. read more

Unfortunately I am unable to provide a review of the actual service being performed...but I can provide insight on my very poor experience with scheduling and the manager. The glass on our oven door shattered - we went through GE (because the oven is still under warranty) and GE assigned ABC Appliance to perform the work. On the day of the appointment my Husband called ABC to 1) the appointment was still confirmed and they had our address/contact information and 2) confirm a more specific window of time for arrival - between 12-3pm. Due to COVID-19 both my husband and I were home ALL day. Because I work remotely, I had missed a call from ABC at about 2pm. No message was left and there was only 1 phone call received. It wasn't until closer to 3 when I could return the call...I was told by the service representative on the main phone number (Tristan or Trevor? He was the only kind and understanding rep I spoke with that day) that the vendor was trying to get ahold of us but unfortunately was no longer in the area and the appointment would have to be rescheduled. Wanting a more detailed explanation, I asked to speak with a manager. It turns out the vendor wasn't able to locate our address and the office was calling to verify where we live. All seemed pretty suspect, though, because we're off a main road close to the heart of downtown...and Google Maps picks up our address without any issues. The manager explained she tried to leave me a voicemail but my inbox was full...I had checked my iPhone and the voice messages section did not indicate it was full and I only had 4 voicemails saved there. We were told at first the vendor called to either say he was "here" or something similar...my husband was outside working all afternoon, not once did any vendor drive down our street. Then the story changed to the vendor couldn't locate our address and the reps at ABC had tried to assist by looking it up for him/indicating where we live...they sent him to a road about 2 miles from where we live - no street name relation or similarities. The stories from them kept changing and overall just didn't make sense or add up to us. Here's the bottom line...I work in customer service myself and I know that stuff happens. It's not about the issue that happened it's about HOW the company handles and rectifies it. Not once did the manager apologize or try to understand the frustration from the customer's point of view. When we tried to ask them to verify which address they had on file or which address they had sent the vendor to (to prevent it from happening again) we were met with hesitation. We felt disrespected as customers and taken advantage of. We think someone fat fingered the address or maybe they just got busy and didn't want to come to our location? Either way, we didn't feel any ounce of sympathy from the manager. She then rescheduled us for an appointment this coming weekend...as frustrating as it is to had to reschedule we need the service and agreed to the time. This shouldn't matter but I did indicate to her that glass pieces are continuing to fall from the door (it's covered with a trash bag right now) and we have both a dog and baby. Just this morning I received a phone call from the same woman...cancelling the appointment scheduled for this weekend...no explanation...when I asked why or if there's another time that can be scheduled she curtly said they were "busy" and wouldn't be able to do any appointment for us. read more

I've been given nothing short of attitude and an overall unwillingness to help or work around my schedule. I've tried to be as flexible as possible but that's difficult when they won't give you any sort of decent estimate on arrival time. Sorry this is long, but I like to be specific in reviewing a business, good or bad. Had them come out to repair a 4 year old GE dishwasher. First technician said it stopped working due to a sensor telling the system the door was open. Took a few weeks to get the part in. After putting in the $34 parts, they charged us $290 for the service call (including parts). The tech was in our home for about 45 mins. Three weeks later, the same issue developed. Different technician came out and said the new sensor had gone bad already (odd). Ordered another part and a few weeks later, they came out and installed. That part lasted five weeks. Same issue. This time the technician got GE on the phone to discuss and was told the dishwasher had a bad "main board, door harness, and U.I. Board" or something to that effect. He got me a case number and essentially washed his hands of the problem. During the time he was working with GE on the phone, the ABC tech was grumbling and seemed frustrated by the instructions GE was giving him to troubleshoot the issue. After he left, we noticed he had bent the door to the dishwasher causing a piece of paint to chip off about ¼ inch in diameter. Called GE and they told me this was a known, but uncommon issue with this model of dishwasher...not covered by any warranty though. GE essentially said it would be less costly and more effective to replace the dishwasher than to continue to chase this issue. GE gave us a very good discount on the new one. ABC called a few days ago to tell us they had new parts in for our dishwasher. I called and spoke with them to find out what parts, since they had already handed this over to GE. They said they had the new "main board, door harness, and U.I. Board". I also spoke with them about the damage. The manager I spoke with was unconcerned about the damage, telling me it didn't matter because GE was giving me a new dishwasher. I explained they weren't giving us one, we had to buy it. I asked for him to consider a refund to us of some sort due to the damage and he claimed that would have to come from GE, not ABC. I tried to explain GE didn't damage the door, his tech did. Again, he stated they weren't responsible. I also explained even without any compensation for us, I was concerned there was damage and ABC didn't seem to care. He continued to appear unconcerned. We went around this circle a few more times and I finally got frustrated and ended the call. Additionally, they don't have a computer system. So, if you need to follow up with them, you have to provide specific times and dates so they can find your info in their pile of paperwork. I asked to email them pictures of the damage and was told they don't have email either. Bottom line - Find another business to repair your appliances. They do not seem to show any concern for the damage they caused to our appliance. The folks who answer the phone seem disinterested in assisting (borderline rude). I also would have expected them to bring GE into the loop much earlier since the same, brand new GE part kept failing. I understand things don't always go smoothly when dealing with any business. However, I view the mark of good customer service in how they deal with the customer when something does not go well. We paid nearly $300 to ABC to have the dishwasher still not work, plus the inconvenience of having an inoperable dishwasher for weeks at a time...and we had to buy a new one! I am very disappointed in how they handled this. read more

Worst experience ever. -stars if possible!!!!!Technician was prompt on Monday morning (after calling late on Saturday afternoon). We are having problems with the igniter on our gas cooktop. Asked how old it was. Took off burner covers, turned on burners (all with great ignition and even flames) which he commented on. We as informed homeowners were aware of all this. Wanted me to take out sliding drawer under cooktop so he could get the serial number---WHY?? "For their records". HA! I gave him the model number from the manual. Said something about sequence of knobs but did nothing. Washed his hands compulsively while running water in sink full blast for a LONG time. Talked about his grandmother's soft water like ours and asked about my antique bottles on window sill!!! Not sure why he washed his hands..did nothing to dirty them and wasted our water!!!! HORRIBLE!! He was quick to collect that fee though. Did nothing, told us nothing new, fixed nothing, gave no advice...I will NEVER call them again. Worst ever!!! read more

Logo on stainless steel door is crooked and door is dented from their lack luster repair attempts. Not sure why I've called ABC more than once, but I won't do so again. Every time they come, they tell me to replace the appliance, regardless of the cost of repair or age of appliance. They brought my dishwasher part, which took two weeks to come in, and then said that they couldn't do the repair because the floorboard under the dishwasher hadn't been removed. The same technician initially diagnosed the problem (and suggested I repair the dishwasher due to two other "problems" I didn't complain about didn't want fixed) and didn't tell me the floorboard would have to be removed in order to slide the dishwasher out. That evening, my husband was able to easily remove it, but I'm not back on the schedule for four more days. And when the technician was here, he told me again about the two other "issues," which I again told him I didn't want fixed. I agree with the other reviews: ABC clearly sells new appliances, and their technicians want to make more money without doing the repairs, by selling you a new unit. The service absolutely is horrid! They do not schedule service or installation appointments in advance and the customer has to call them the morning of the appointment to be told a 4hr window the customer will have to wait for the ABC Tech to arrive. To their credit they will call 30mjn prior to the ABC Tech arrival. read more

They came out and charged me $100 just to look at a button on my exhaust fan for my range that was broken. The guy Sam was there for 2 minutes and said he needed to order parts and made me give a $120 deposit and would use that toward the final costs. Next day I called for the quote and they said the button costs $270 and with labor it would be $500. Bah! I looked online for the part and it was $50 bucks! I called back and asked why they were charging over 500% mark up and the lady told me they only use manufacturer parts. Even direct from manufacturer doesn't cost that much. So I was pissed, ordered the part myself and put the button on and it worked. This place is evil and dishonest. Stay away! read more

Some of the most insolent people I have ever experienced. Yah, they fixed my microwave oven, but not without an immense amount of the repair technician's overbearing and insolent attitude. For example, we have a 'no shoes' in the house policy. We asked the technician (one of two, who has a white beard, and had been here to assess the problem. They did not say what their names were) to use shoe covers. He said he did not have any. We keep several pairs in the closet just in case. My wife provided them, brand new, to the technician who stated 'these are dirty'. My wife said fine, here is another pair to which he stated 'I'll see if I have any in my vehicle' (and did!). Later, this same technician was quick to point out some minor scratches on our wooden floors. I asked if he had a tarp to prevent and avoid additional damage during their work. To which, he claimed that the oven would not touch the floor since he had a cart. He just wanted us 'to know' that there were scratches because other people had called and complained after their work had been done. And then later, while I was out of the kitchen area, he asked my wife, who was already steaming about the shoe covers, to provide a floor covering (and id so)! I'm OK with assisting when needed. My experiences though are when a craftsman, especially someone working with electricity, is in my home, they want to know where the circuit box is so THEY can turn on and off power as required. It's a good thing this technician had a high level of trust in me. What if I turned off the wrong circuit switch? No big deal, I only had to visit my circuit box three times during the visit. Finally, and it may just be me, but, I want to review the invoice myself. I know how to hold it, not spill coffee on it, and so forth. No! The technician insisted on holding the metal case the document(s) were in while I was signing the document. On the way out the door, the technician stated 'well, looks like we'll be doing your future repairs since the other company failed to do them' (we had shared during the first visit our disappointment with another company). I'm gong with a 'not happening' on that. We won't be using ABC any longer. People who provide services, regardless of skill level, need to understand that attitude, customer relations, being polite to others, etc., are key to ongoing business relationships. read more

Be warned! Do not use them for service. We were totally ripped off. Charged $79.95 for them to drive and then $75 for the 45 minutes he was here for our washing machine to stop working the next next day. We only asked for the $75 back and they refused. read more

I have just had a good experience with this company, so I regret to see some of the other experiences people have had. Anyway, the guy who came out (Rich) was very nice and let me know just what the problem was with my dryer. When the parts were installed, the price was affordable and less than previously estimated. My dryer now works great, much better than even before I recognized it was broken. The only drawback was that the process was somewhat slow. That was okay in my particular case, but I would mention it as an area for improvement especially since we are dealing with appliance repair. read more

If there was a zero star rating they would get it without question! I purchased a whirlpool dishwasher (not from them) and I had some issues with it lately. I called Whirlpool and they arranged with a local company- Wonderful ABC Appliance -dripping with sarcasm. I was informed that I would receive a phone call 30 minutes before arrival from the technician. I was informed there was a 12-5:00 PM window. I've been waiting patiently at work to be ready to leave once I received the phone call. I cancelled meetings in order to be available. When a call was made it was to my father who is currently in Missouri and a voicemail was left. He got in contact with me within 10 minutes. I thought this was not a big issue since his number was also on the order. He called ABC back and was disappointed (a very kind way of putting it) with the customer service he received from the woman, Donna who answered the call. He was told to "find someone else to do it then" very bluntly and he was also hung up on. Since my father is very old school, I thought I would give a call and see if I could have a different experience. I certainly did not, I believe Donna may be in need of customer service re-training as she was very rude and not at all helpful or understanding on the phone. The customer is always right is certainly not a cared about phrase to ABC. I asked Donna if she could have the technician come back to my location and check my dishwasher- I was placed on hold and when she came back on the line she stated, "he absolutely can not come back". I asked for a manager and she said that is who told her that exact thing- well good, let me speak with her. Onto Mary- not much of a help either. Blame game up and down on Whirlpool, which you know what fine- I can even handle that- I suggested they work on their communication skills between themselves and Whirlpool. I contact Whirlpool and was apologized to repeatedly. They verified all of my information and what was written in their request sent to ABC-No issue on their end. I am all set with having another technician from another company come out today. I hate even making this review as I am a local business supporter. Bottom line- ABC Edgewater displayed horrible customer service, poor business handling, and overall just a waste of time. read more

This would be zero stars if allowed..... I called ABC Appliance. No issues with the phone call, nice, and scheduled the appointment. They were supposed to be there late afternoon. I got a call at 9:30am that the tech was running way ahead of schedule. He diagnosed that the water pump was leaking, showed me the leak. He quoted me $325 to fix the appliance. Nice guy, no issues there, but the washer is probably only worth $400 brand new. He had the part on him. I decided against the repair, as I may as well buy a new $400 unit myself. I did have to pay $89 for the sevice call.....which was incredibly annoying. I looked up the cost of the water pump. $8 That got me thinking....wow, $300 in labor to replace an $8 part? I found 2 videos that show me how to take apart the housing, replace the pump, then reassemble. Total running time of the videos to be under 10 minutes. It is literally, I mean, literally, 4 spring loaded clips, and 3 electrical connections you unplug. 10 minutes. I ordered the parts. I am not a mechanic. The parts came, and performed the fix in 21 minutes. So, ABC appliance were very nice people, on time, etc. They are absolutely rip off artists. Moral of the story: Being nice doesn't mean they aren't screwing you on pricing. read more

After waiting weeks for a part the repairman returned and advised he could not repair our dryer. Actually, I still haven't received a call from ABC it was our tenant who called to state ABC left with out making the repairs. The lady who schedules and handles billing is consistently rude! I have used ABC for service for years at my home and business. They have always been quick to respond and have kept appliance going long before their time. I'm in the service industry as well and I think those that complain about price don't realize that time is expensive. It's not always worth it to have something repaired. I had 2 fridges, one running too warm, the other freezing. I also had an oven where the ignitor switch was going bad every 6 to 8 months. Our service tech came in and spent 2 minutes looking at our fridge before moving one item and saying the air flow was blocked and that will fix the problem. He refused to look at the other fridge, saying he was busy and it wasn't on his agenda. The oven, things went way downhill quickly. He told me my ignitor was bad (I already knew that) and that it would be $289 dollars to replace it (the part costs $21 and it takes less than an hour to replace). The last guy who fixed our ignitor was $150.00. I asked him if he could look into why all the ignitors are going bad in 6 months. His answer "I've been doing this 30 years and that's normal" did not go over well with me. I asked him what would happen when it went bad in 6 months again, and he proudly stated that they warranty all of their work for 90 days. After refusing this wonderful offer I was billed $119.95 for absolutely nothing. I still have 3 broken appliances. This was a robbery. First (and last) experience with this company and I am far from impressed. read more
