So our fridge got on the local train right around Thanksgiving 2014. We heated some pie and I pulled out the frozen yogurt, and sho nuff, the frozen yogurt was more like liquid yogurt. One word for that: egads! We did a frantic online search to find appliances, and stumbled upon Appliance Land Etc. The Appliance Land website didn't show many details about specific appliances in inventory, but we went anyway, trying to avoid the big box stores if possible. They had a great selection, but really only one in the size that we wanted (30"W 66"H 30"D) but it matched exactly what we were looking for. Dennis was amazingly helpful and awesome. He checked the inventory and saw that he had last year's model of a fridge in the size that we needed. He offered us that model for about $50 off the normal retail since it was a floor model. Turns out, the inventory was wrong and the model on the floor was the 2015 model. He offered us the same discount on the fridge, and we're having it delivered for free on Tuesday. I'll write an update to my review after the delivery. They offer haul-away for $20 and they will recycle it. A couple of notes, we found the same model fridge at either Lowes or Home Depot, and it was the same retail price. We chose to support small business. Dennis also gave us some good advice on microwaves and how easy it is to install them in lieu of a vent. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone shopping for appliances. We're looking to redo our kitchen in a year or so, and we'll definitely be visiting these guys when we shop for appliances. read more

It took 14 months for an oven, they permanently damaged my hardwood kitchen floor (delivery guys stood on top of the damage to hide it while getting my wife to sign off). Took another month to get a response - then they agreed to give me $100. I would look elsewhere. read more

I purchased a GE frost free freezer on Sunday - by phone - from the Beltsville ApplianceLand store. I worked with T.J. who was wonderful. He listened to my needs and was patient answering all of my questions. It took a couple of days for me to make up my mind. I called the store back but T.J. wasn't in that day. He was supposed to be at the Annapolis store. I called the Annapolis store but T.J. wasn't there. I spoke to Bernadette (Dette) and she finished the order. Today I had my brand new frost free GE freezer delivered and installed by 2 wonderful guys, Darryl Whitaker and Jason Webb. I'd paid for the (probable) extra work that would need to be done to get the freezer into the house. Little did I know how much work the guys needed to do. Because of my narrow house doors and a brick wall that borders my basement steps, Darryl and Jason really had to work to get the freezer in the house. I was worried it might not happen, but Darryl and Jason refused to give up - and - they got the freezer in the house. Despite their extra efforts the guys remained calm and focused. They were cheerful, respectful and absolutely delightful. I am so happy they were the delivery/installation crew. Because of them (and I will be eternally grateful) I have my brand new wonderful freezer. I must add that they also removed the old freezer and did a great job with that. read more

Had a great experience coming into the shop this evening with my family to purchase a new washing machine. The two salesmen (Briton and I can't recall the other guys name) were both very knowledgeable. I was impressed because I was interested in the Speed Queen but they didn't push it on me like a typical salesman even though they are a platinum dealer. I went with a commercial Maytag and they thought that too was a great choice. They said both were great machines but my budget made me pick the Maytag. They were super cool to my wife and kids and even showed us videos and pics of their little ones too. Happy to support a small business. Hoping my install goes great next Thursday too. PS. I purchased a stacked washer and dryer unit from this store. The sales person was very knowledgeable and friendly and I was in and out in 30 minutes. The problems started with the delivery and installation. The washer and dryer were being installed on the second floor in a closet that was just big enough to fit the units I selected. I confirmed the size with the salesman at the time of purchase and with the manufacturer's requirements. The installers appeared to be in a constant rush and complained about the extra set of steps (which I paid extra for) and the tight space in the closet. After breaking a stair tread with their dolly, cutting out and removing the original drip pan, cutting a whole in the closet drywall, they claimed the appliance wouldn't fit in the closet and left it sticking out 4 inches so the closet door would no longer close. After confirming all the measurements, I went back to the store and complained about the install. The salesman was once again helpful and scheduled installers to come back out and fix it. What I didn't realize was that he sent the exact same crew! This time they replaced the dryer vent with a soft vent (which I believe does not meet code), pushed on the dryer and said they were done. The closet door still did not close. I showed them the measurements of the appliance and the closet and told them to try again. They wiggle the units all around and got them to slide back the remaining 4 inches. It turns out they were stuck on the pieces of pipe they cut off my original drip pan. That evening, I ran the washer and water began to pour through the ceiling of the floor below. Obviously something was installed incorrectly or not connected. I contacted the store once again and the salesman said he would take of the issue (this would be trip #3 to the house). The next day I got a call from a manager who said that at this point he felt that it was a defective washer and it wasn't his problem. He told me to handle it through homeowners insurance and that he would not be sending out a crew to fix it. I've rarely experienced such poor quality workmanship during the install and such terrible customer service. The washer was in my house 2 days and only ran once and ApplianceLand claimed that it was now my problem and they would no longer help. Terrible service. I did call my insurance and they sent a contractor to repair the water damage and a repairman to check the install. The insurance company found the installers to be at fault by not properly securing the drain hose causing it to dump on the floor. $1000 claim and a week of work and I'm finally able to use my appliances. I would recommend saying away from this company until they improve their customer service post purchase. read more

We ordered new washer and dryer here. We worked mainly with Dennis and will say that I am extremely happy. He was extremely knowledgeable on the types of washers/dryers, but also on all the measurements that we needed to confirm before even bothering to purchase stackable units for our home. Once we confirmed everything and purchased our units, we had them being delivered to a new home a couple weeks out. Day after we moved, I received a call in the morning from applianceland delivery folks giving us an estimate on delivery time so we were able to get some other things done in the day before they showed. When they showed up, they had the units installed in no less than 45 minutes. Everything was installed perfectly and running, we were only charged an additional $20 for the venting pipe which we were given a heads up about when we ordered the units. Overall I am very happy with the services/appliances we received and would definitely return the next time we need another appliance read more

Bought a washing machine. The guys came and installed it. Soon after they left, I found the door did not close properly. I called the store right away, hoping they could just redirect the install guys to came right back to do the job right, but the guy gave me repair date a few days out. Two guys show up for repair, adjust the door. Appeared to close properly. A day or 2 later I noticed a hairline crack on the front panel. Inspecting it all more closely, I discovered there was a big dent on one of the top corners of the stainless steel interior covered up by the seal, and only noticeable when the door was open and you were looking up at it (eg not from a standing position). It's looking now like the machine had been dropped at some point. Called the store again and they said I would have to call Maytag. Maytag set me up with their repair contractor, who came out to asses the repair. They said there was a whole host of problems with this machine: cracked panel, leaking seal, machine not installed properly, and plumbing line installed incorrectly. To repair it, the machine would have to completely rebuilt, and I should ask for my installation fee back. I set a date for the rebuild. I called Applianceland to relay the issues found and request the installation fee back. The guy who could authorize was not in but they would have him call me. Two days and no call back. I called in and got the guy who seemed to have no knowledge of the situation. I asked him to get back to me by the end of the day, and he snapped at me, and the conversation deteriorated from there. I called the Applianceland in Rockville to see if they had a more reasonable employee there. They listened to my story and said I should have been offered a new machine and they were going to call the owners of Applianceland and see if they could offer me that. She also immediately authorized the refund of the installation fee. She quickly got back to me that the owners approved offering a new machine. They were very sympathetic and understanding at Rockville. Never again will I use Dennis at the Beltsville store for my appliances. Clearly it was a damaged machine from the start that he was trying to unload, then when I caught on, he got angry with me. Not a good business model. read more

Never again. Unfortunately I had a similar terrible experience with other poor reviews. Now I end up with a broken appliance due to their installment error and having to deal with GE directly. Their customer service and installment skills are questionable. Do not use this company unless you want to be ignored and treated like we did something wrong (and yelled at!). read more

Very disappointed in our experience with Appliance Land and the Speed Queen washer. We purchased a washer and dryer there, and the washer just doesn't work. Doesn't clean, doesn't remove stains. From day one. Ok, well actually we have to wash stained items 3x, but how often is that with 2 boys? Answer: Every. Day. And for those stains we don't catch... well, they become a permanent decoration. The washer has ruined several articles of clothing. We entered an agreement with Appliance Land to take the washer back- with a 25% restocking fee. We accepted, but when we scheduled the pickup they informed us the restocking fee was $633, a 38% fee!!! Why so high? They charged a restocking fee on the washer, dryer, dryer cord, and ... get ready... tax. Yes, you heard that correctly, they are charging a restocking fee on everything we bought, not just the item returned, and to add insult to injury, they are restocking the tax. How do you restock tax? "That is our policy", they said. Haha. Well, Appliance Land has figured out how to restock tax! Call the president! Call the IRS! They should next try solving world hunger. Please, purchase a quality product elsewhere, and avoid the frustration and asinine arguments. They will pick your pocket at every opportunity. read more

I'm in the midst of a long-overdue kitchen remodel and, at the suggestion of my parents, stopped in this store to take a look at their appliances. Best suggestion EVER. We worked with the manager, who was incredibly knowledgeable about every appliance and brand we could think of, outlined the pros and cons of each, and didn't steer us in any particular direction, just gave us enough information to make an informed decision on our own. The prices he gave were excellent, and they were all delivered on time, quickly, easily, and in perfect condition. I would use them again in a heartbeat and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others as well. read more

We couldn't have had a better experience here. Our refrigerator stopped working so we didn't have a lot of time to shop around. The salesman was really helpful, taking time to show us all the options meeting our criteria, and even finding specials and rebates to help us out. The two delivery guys were prompt, polite, and didn't complain once about negotiating our older home's narrow doorways. This experience reminds me of what Bray and Scarff used to be like, and we will use ApplianceLand in Beltsville for all our future appliance purchases. read more

I have used Appliance Land for several appliances at my primary residence and rental properties. By and large their prices are reasonable, their staff is knowledgable, and their installation and removal crews are prompt and workmanlike. I have thought of using Lowes, Home Depot, etc. on occasion, but the process has been so easy with Appliance Land that I keep coming back. Their install crews are employees instead of third party, so I think they have more control over the whole process. Boarderline 5 star, but a great option for anyone looking to purchase or replace appliances. read more

I was scheduled for a refrigerator delivery on 9-11. The delivery guys were running late and called 3 or 4 times to say they were on the way. Unfortunately, they got caught in a bad traffic situation because the President was somewhere and they were not able to get through the traffic jam. Because they had called me several times, I had the expectation they were going to show up and I gave someone my old refrigerator late in the day. Unfortunately, they were not able to make my delivery, which, I understood. However, since I was the next delivery I expected to be the first delivery on 9-12, which could have saved my food. Well, my delivery was rescheduled for 9-13. It made no sense to me that I should be put off until another day. I lost $200, or more worth of food. I was very unhappy and they did not seem to be that concerned. There was no, I am sorry or an explanation as to why I had to wait the extra day. Until the lackadaisical delivery scheduling I would have rated them very highly. Now they have lost a customer and any recommendation I would have given them. read more
