Anders was amazing from the first call to ABC. I was in a panic because my car died on the freeway, my phone was on the verge of dying, I wasn't sure I was going to find a tow truck and I was new to the area not sure where to go. When I called ABC at 4:45 Anders answered the phone he explained that they close at 5:30. I told him my circumstances he offered to stay there until I got my van towed there. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get a tow, he offered to make a call and help me out. While I was calling my insurance company he was calling a tow truck for me. I was able to get my insurance to tow me but the fact that he was willing to help me out in my panic really helped calm me in the situation. I had my granddaughter with me so it made it a little more emotional for me. When I got to the shop Anders met me there and helped get my van settled in for the weekend. Amazing customer service. When they called me to pickup my van it actually ended up costing a lot less than originally quoted. Because Anders was so great and the service was so good. I on the spot schedule to take my daughters Camry in to be serviced. It's really hard to know who you can trust these days but these folks have my business until I leave Ventura...hopefully never. Thanks to ABC Auto Care for an honest assessment of my needs today. I came in for an alignment but my tires were so worn, they advised me to forego the alignment and consider new tires. While this might seem like an up-sell, I feel that it was a frank and honest assessment because they were offering not to do the alignment and let me consider my options, including thinking over a quote for new tires plus an alignment or just driving on them until I am forced to replace them later. Thanks for not just doing an alignment on old worn tires. Integrity is a wonderful thing and I am happy to say I appreciate It at a auto repair shop! read more

I had a Porsche I was looking at buying over the internet inspected by Lee and his team at ABC Auto Care and could not be happier with the level of service I got. Lee went above and beyond to coordinate the inspection with the dealer and also gave me not only a thorough mechanical inspection but a qualitative overview (and even a few videos) of the condition of the paint, interior and underbody since I wasn't able to lay eyes on the car before making the decision to travel to buy it. He cares more about money than taking care of their customer. I really didn't like being lied to when they said it takes 30 minutes to service what a 19 year old mechanic could do in 10 minutes! Not a great experience,, about 8 months-1yr ago I took my car in which was stalling when I started it often, they said it was the battery. Decent and friendly shop, but too many up charges, paid over $900 replace a fuel pump on a 2004 ford expedition, was charged 2hrs for "diagnostic fees" to find out what the problem was...... not necessary in my book. They gave me a free oil change to compensate, I will not be back, Yes they did the work well and found the problem, but I cannot afford to drop this kind of $$ every time I have an issue that that (I found out later) they could have resolved in 15 min. read more

The friendliest, cleanest and most honest shop I've ever been to. They email and text you a thorough report, including pictures on parts of your car that needs to be fixed asap or soon. They also text you when your car is being worked on. Great service, friendly people, excellent product. I got the Yelp deal and they did a detailed inspection of my Jeep and tossed in a free car wash. I had them change the oil. The owner (Lee) let me know that I will need some services soon but as of today everything was okay. They were honest and didn't try to make up bogus stuff just to make a sale. ABC Auto Care is a pretty good car repair place. First off, it was my day off from work and it was the only day I could get an oil change for a while. I called three other places and they couldn't fit me in until the next week. Finally, I found ABC Auto Care and they seemed that they had no room to fit me in but they did anyways. An hour later, I had an appointment the same day! Although, they weren't extremely friendly when I got there, (maybe it's because I called and wanted the same day oil change) they still completed the job in a timely manner (an hour). The oil change was $43.09 and it included hazardous waste removal and tax. Not bad for an oil change but not great either. I think Midas had an oil change for $20 but not entirely sure if waste removal and other fees are included. But I can't complain, they did take me after all. Definitely recommend it! read more

YELP - ABC auto care Based on a couple of "word of mouth" referrals, I took my 2003 suburban to ABC Auto care to diagnose an engine misfire in October 2019. One referral suggested that ABC was good, but expensive. Their labor rate is over $135.00 / hr- I have no problem paying for quality work. Their shop is clean and the waiting room is tastefully decorated. I will give ABC somewhere between 2 and 3 stars based on my experience. They diagnosed my problem as a worn out engine. I bought a low mileage, guaranteed used engine ($1400 paid in advance) which the service advisor, Hugo, said they would install for approximately $2000 depending on various incidentals. I gave him my approval and he said the job would take around a week or two. After the first week I didn't hear from him so I called him 2 or 3 times to get an update on the estimate for parts and labor. Each time Hugo informed me that he had not yet put the information together. After the second week he called to inform me the job was finished and my car was ready. I went to pay the bill and pick up the car. The expenses had increased to over $3000. That was a big surprise. I understand the unforeseeable problems of installing a used engine. Renewing belts, pulleys, water pump, etc are good preventive measures, however due diligence and a cost increase of this magnitude would suggest keeping the customer apprised of increasing expenses. I read another Yelp review of ABC Auto Care which mentioned this same situation - a customer surprised by the final bill. The Californian Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) requires a licensed repair facility to supply the customer with a written estimate before the work is begun and telephone approval for additional costs. I don't know if ABC auto care is licensed by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. On the plus side, he called to inform me they accidentally broke my windshield, which I had recently replaced, and they would absorb the cost of that replacement. As for the quality of the work, I cannot yet determine. It ran well when I delivered it to my daughter in Seattle. Time will tell. Very knowledgeable group of people. Went by there with my 2000 Accord because I needed to know where to get a smog check and to find out cost of getting my brakes fixed (it was time). They shut off my check engine light and made a great recommendation (no cost) I went off and got my smog checked (passed) and then made an appointment for a brake job. I was giving my car to my son and they not only did a great job on the front brakes but a multi point car inspection to make sure nothing else needed to be done. This auto mechanic experience was hands-down one of my worst. Lee (the owner) quotes me $1135.00 in the beginning then conveys to me after I showed concern over the price that it would probably be just under a thousand. Then of which after the work was done he gets me out the door by charging me $1343.52. Absolutely despicable... and you want to know for what? An EGR Solenoid control valve, Sensor Knock, gasket intake manifold and both inner/outer plenum gaskets. On top of all this Hugo (one of his sales administrators) verbally tells me 'they are the best'. While I smirk saying 'Not likely and if it were legal we would be handling this another way. But, it is not'. You understand my feelings. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT be fooled by either one of these individuals kind dispositions. This auto care is a sham. Hugo & staff are soooo good! Had bought tires from Honda dealer & was having left front vibrations/veering to right problems. Took it to ABC Auto Care & they tested it & informed me it was a bad front tire Honda sold me. Went back to Honda dealer, told them this, they said no, its your rim, its bent. So took it back to Hugo & they showed me that rim was not bent, wrote up report & I took it back to Honda & they gave me another tire. Since then ABC Auto is the ONLY place I will take my car (did some work for me just recently). Being a single woman, can't tell you how many times mechanics think the can jack me around. NOT so at ABC Auto Care. They are fair, fast & great customer service. I have recommended them to several women I know cuz I know they will not rip them off & take good care of them. read more

I thought I had found a reliable, friendly place for my car's oil changes but yesterday the mechanic who worked on the car broke the mechanism that raises and lowers the driver's side window. Don't know why he was diddling with the window or how he managed it, but it happened. So the fellow who deals with customers apologized and said that he'd only charge me for the part that broke ($160) and no extra charge for the labor. I thought that was a bit high but eventually agreed. He told me that he'd have my car ready by noon. Didn't hear from him until after 2 PM so I phoned him. He said they were just installing the part. So I started driving over but decided to stop at my local mechanic first to ask him how much the part to fix the window would be and he called his supplier and found out that it would be $103. ABC said they wouldn't charge me labor but lied and quoted me a price ($160) way above what the part should have cost. When I arrived to pick up my car, I was informed that the part sent over to fix the window was the wrong one, so the work wasn't done. I realize that many of these oil change places find other things the matter with your car when changing the oil and bring it to the customer's attention, looking for repair jobs to do which, I imagine, brings in the big bucks for them. But what the driver's side window had to do with a regular oil change baffles me! I can't trust these people. They've lost a customer. Buyer beware! read more

Had my cadi worked on there, they claimed the engine blew when moving it from one parking place to another, I'll never go back there. ----------------------------------------------------------------- First off I would like to thank you for your quick reply and respond to your concerns. In response to... "I challenge you to prove that you had your vehicle here. We went back eight years in all and did not find any evidence of your claim." I'm sorry, but, I can't help you with your record keeping skills or lack there of. In response to... " I'd love to hear your side of the story" I did take my Cadillac to ABC Auto Care after it failed a smog test. If I recall correctly I was charged about $250 for it to be diagnosed. The staff I interacted with were all professional. I was told that the car would need some work estimated at $1,400 to $1,500. I recall something about fuel injectors and some other stuff that was going to be worked on. I gave the o.k. to proceed with work. After paying so much, I expected the car to pass the smog test and was surprised that it again failed to pass. I returned for a third time to ABC Auto Care. They kept the car all day and asked if they could keep it through the next day. I said "o.k.". Late the next day I called about the status of my Cadi and was told in a matter of fact tone "your cars engine had siezed when we were moving it from one parking space to another" the staff had went on to quote me the price of a new engine or offered to save me money by getting a used engine. I was devastated as I could not afford it. Regretfully I paid to have my Cadi towed home and sold it to a junk yard for $100. In response to..."feeling compelled to hurting local businesses" Need I remind you that you made money in this situation and I lost money and a beautiful Cadi. I have read a few of your responses to customers that were not satisfied. Challenging customers to prove that they had their vehicle serviced at ABC Auto Care, to get their facts straight and blaming Yelp for retaliating against you. Sir, you are far from being a victim. Great with customers. However they way overcharge!!! I was pissed when my elderly step father told me how much it was to fix his door ( it would not open). They charged him around $450.00 !!! I have never encountered a mechanic shop that possesses anywhere near the level of quality, integrity, and impeccable attention to customer service as ABC. I happened upon them due to proximity, when my car quite suddenly decided it no longer wanted to turn left. They worked me in right away, and fixed the problem permanently for exactly what I was quoted, and for much less than I thought it would be. I have not gone anywhere else for anything car related since, and won't. On one occasion I thought my car needed an alignment, and after careful inspection was told that wasn't the case. They didn't charge me a cent. With literally every other mechanic I've used, I've always left wondering if I'be been ripped off, here I worry that I might be ripping them off, lol. Lee, the owner, is personable and professional, as is his entire staff, all of which seem at ease and genuinely happy to be there. Random clients bring them gifts every time I visit, which tells me a lot. Seriously, if you're reading through these reviews and deciding where to go for service, just go here. I wrote a whole book about my experience below, but TL;DR: this place has the best service ever, I will definitely go back for anything that my car needs done. ABC auto care has amazing service. Tuesday Needed to get my brakes checked out because I was hearing a grinding noise, but being new to town I had no idea where to go. The other reviews on yelp seemed positive so I gave ABC a call after work right before close on a Tuesday. Spoke with Benjamin, who was very helpful in explaining the brake inspection service and fee, as well as about their courtesy car policy and whatnot because I had work on the weekdays during business hours down in Thousand Oaks. I had only one day off, the very next day (Wednesday), and they scheduled an appointment for me in the morning over the phone right away. Wednesday Took my car in and brought a longboard so I could head to the coffee shop on Telephone while I waited for the mechanics to take a look at what was going on. All of the people I spoke with at the shop were extremely friendly and helpful; they even offered to drive me somewhere if I needed a ride. Took about 45 minutes, when I got back they gave me the bad news that some parts would need to be replaced. They were very helpful in explaining to me what was going on with my brakes (which I got fixed) and suspension (which I did not get fixed), and brought me around to my car while it was lifted to physically point out how the rotors were all worn down. All of this occurred between 8.30am and 9.30am; I had a meeting in Santa Barbara from 2.30-4.30pm, but I had already arranged a carpool so I told them to go ahead and work on the brakes (they told me that they could have it done by the end of the day) and went to that. Right after 4.30pm, I got a call and they apologized because they would need to take an extra day because some parts needed to be ordered. They offered me a courtesy car so that I could get to work on Thursday and told me that I could pick it up, they could bring it to me, or that they could leave it and the keys at the shop for me to pick up if I wasn't going to make it back to Ventura by 5.30pm. Thursday I went in and picked up the courtesy car around 7.30am when they opened, it was clean and very drive-able. I was working in Thousand Oaks (~35-40m south) but they told me not to worry about the gas. Because I work so far and might not make it back in time to pick up my own car they told me I could get it the next day, or they could stash the keys somewhere and I could get it after hours if need be. So, I went to work and when I got off around 5pm I gave them a call letting them know I was on my way back to Ventura; they tell me not to worry about rushing, because they're having a class and will be there until 7pm or so. Drove back, went to pick up my car/drop off theirs and when I get there they offer me some pizza and a coke. I was so stoked on the free food that I forgot my receipt and service records at the shop! I was meaning to go and get them this week but I'm so busy it's hard to get in before I leave for work; then I checked the mail today and found they had sent it to me. Definitely a great auto shop, 5/5 for service. I recommend ABC highly and as long as I'm in the area I'll be recommending them to anyone in need of anything car-related. read more
