Fast and flavorful. The fries were very well seasoned! If you are watching your salt intake, stay away! Didn't get to experience the po boy catfish but heard it was great! The cornbread I wish it was warmed up as it tasted excellent even cold. So no star deducted for that. It is on the petite side, tbh. Guess I do not need more butter so it's okay. This is a very small place with difficult parking. You order and wait, or eat in the small outside area. So do not expected ambiance or service.

    6/4/25 Hubby loves their gumbo!

6/4/25 It's literally a hole in the wall, located right next to the infamous (and haunted) Hotel Cecil where serial killer, Richard Ramirez stayed in the 80's. My apologies for the morbid extra detail but it bears mentioning. Hubby loves Gumbo Boys' gumbo w/ chicken & shrimp with a side of steamed rice. He ordered the jumbo size (If you ask me, this is the smallest Jumbo ever seen!) and I ordered the fried catfish poboy. What is pictured/posted, the facade of the establishment is what it is. It's where you order, & about 4 seats, a counter next to the order counter that you may dine to enjoy your food. There are 2 red tables at the front of the shop with 4 chairs each. There is no indoor dining at all. Gotta admit, the food is great! The gravy on the gumbo was tasty & flavorful, just the right amount of seasoning, about 5 or 6 jumbo shrimp, tender cuts of chicken, andouille sausage. The cornbread? Meh, skip that, nothing special. Parking is horrendously limited unless you park & pay next door. A few orders are walk up & eat, but mostly to-go and a majority is delivery (DoorDash, Ubereats, Postmates, Grubhub). Oh my, the catfish poboy was phenomenal, perfectly fried fish and the lettuce & tomatoes were fresh. If you don't mind getting accosted by some vagrants while ordering/dining, you'll be fine. Or for me, I will NOT go unless Hubby is with me! Again, food is delicious (Almost) worth the gamble

I ordered online, and this food was bussin! As a native Louisianian, I rarely trust cajun spots here in LA, especially those that have "gumbo," but the name "gumbo boys" was so bold, I had to try. I loved everything! The gumbo was delicious, and the sausages were perfect! The cornbread was on point! The eggroll with the red beans n rice dipped in the remoulade sauce went CRAZY! I wasn't expecting it to be so flavorful, but it was definitely a party in my mouth! I can't comment on the service or ambiance of the restaurant because I ordered takeout, but I will say this, everything was packaged neatly and arrived hot! I have no complaints! I will definitely be ordering here again, and I urge soul food lovers to try our that eggroll ASAP because it's so GOOD!

    CAJUN EGGROLL. Try it!

This is strictly for the Cajun egg roll. Looking for a snack not a meal try the Cajun eggroll. This is what brought me here. Made fresh to order. A large egg roll filled with rice and red beans, cheese and sausage. Served with a tasty remoulade sauce to dip it in. Fried just right that gives you that crunchy 1st bite. Even though the eggroll brought me here there are plenty of other great items to choose from the menu. I will make my way back one day. I would suggest calling your order in. Seems like a long wait if you don't.

Idk what these reviews are all about. My parents are Louisiana natives and I've had my fair share of amazing southern food. There are only like two decent spots in LA and this is one of them. Got catfish, shrimp, red beans and rice, gumbo, hush puppies. Would order it all again. You Californian's are wrong about a lot of southern food and it is a shame.

10/10 delicious! I ordered it on Uber Eats it arrived perfectly packaged and they added delicious sauces. My order consisted of red beans and rice with a side of shrimp an order of cornbread and a Cajun egg roll that is buy one get one free right now! Hurry and get you some thank me later ! It's so delicious! I will definitely order from here again and again :P

Some of the best gumbo I've had in LA! Various portion sizes to choose from and plenty of shrimp, chicken and sausage in my serving. Comes Roth crackers. Fish poboy was fully dressed. This too was enjoyable but could have had a bit more meat. The server was friendly, brought us our food (we sat at one of the two tables in the front). This is primarily a to-go restaurant. People I chatted with ordered in advance and came to pick up their orders. It's a cute facade but NO ambience. Downtown LA is not clean and the homeless population is in this area. Lost a star due to location. I located street parking and my sister paid $10 for the lot next to the restaurant. I would order takeout if in the area and I had someplace to eat or take the food.

I used to visit them when they had the street cart back in Hollywood and now they have their own spot! The food here is so good! My cousin and I stopped by and ordered the Seafood Gumbo, Shrimp & Grits, and some Gator Bites. Taste and texture was great and I'm still dreaming about them Gator Bites. Also, it was enough to last me that day and the next. My cousin loved the gumbo so much he went back the same week I LOVE seeing family owned businesses succeed, keep it up guys and thanks for helping us out Q!

My friend and I came here after a few drinks at a bar up the street, we've always wanted to try! Will definitely be back. The catfish and shrimp were battered and fried to perfection. They came with a side of house sauce and hot sauce which complimented both perfectly! I enjoy by fries not too crunchy (I want to taste the soft potato inside) and they made them just how I like them. They weren't overly seasoned or salty! The hush puppies were SCRUMPTIOUS. I'll be ordering just a side of these the next time I come. We also ordered the Cajun egg roll, which was different but the filling of red beans, rice, and sausage were spectacular. Flavor 10/10 on all of the dishes. I definitely want to try the gumbo (since that's what their most prized dish is) and their cornbread. Until next time gumbo boys! Thank you for fulfilling my expectations!

I ordered the crawfish etouffee to go and it definitely reminded me of New Orleans flavor. The crawfish was of decent size and was plentiful . Not to thick of a sauce, just right.

This location on Wilshire Blvd in Koreatown is the smallest of the three I've visited, with under 10 seats available. It's a compact shop, and most customers opt for takeout. It's a narrow shop, and most customers take their orders to-go. I've previously enjoyed the La Paradiso and La Toscana, with the La Paradiso being my personal favorite. For our first visit with our son, we asked the staff for recommendations, and they suggested either the Venice Beach (Turkey) or the New Yorker (Roast Beef). The staff was incredibly generous, offering a roast beef sample, which our son loved! We also appreciated them providing ice and straws for our water. We ordered the New Yorker ($19.00) with roast beef, porcini cream, tomato, and arugula. The sandwich was thoughtfully cut in half, perfect for sharing. The schiacciata bread boasts a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior, which beautifully complements the meats and cheeses. We opted to substitute the porcini cream for mozzarella, which was sliced into perfect bite-sized pieces and tasted incredibly fresh. The roast beef was thinly sliced and tender, the tomatoes were fresh and sliced to perfection, and the arugula added a delightful peppery crunch. It's a well-balanced sandwich and one of the best in LA. We would definitely order it again. A big thank you to the female staff member who expertly cut the meat and offered samples, assisting us in making the perfect choice for my son's sandwich. This experience was truly a positive one for our family. I would definitely return to AAV for the excellent food and service. Given the small size of the shop, takeout is recommended, especially during peak hours. The sandwiches at AAV are so good! Fuggedaboutit!

It's almost like a mini pizza but with delicious crisper crust that isn't overbaked. 4/5 Fried Cod Laffa had a magical mix of flavor. Personally I love the contrast between the texture of the cod and the variety of fresh vegetables. The sauce complimented and brought all the ingredients together. The soft yet firm Laffa held this hefty meal. Had to eat half for lunch and half for another time. It fills you up! I would get this again when I'm here. The menu is not complicated or very large, and has a specialty item like a stuffed bread with different options named after possibly the founder of the restaurant. Khachapuri is the item, but we did not get it this time. We got a Chicken Ceaser Laffa wrap as well as a Chicken Parm and Bolognese sandwich. They did not take very long to get prepared and brought to our table. These are very good size sandwiches, you can easily eat it as two meals. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and helped us make our decision on what to order. It is a very bright place. Has odd artwork, not really a style or anything. A picture of a cow, a watercolor landscape. A fish chart. Something else that I forget.... Just odd, does not really work together, but oh well. Maybe these are from employees or were donated or something. But on to the sandwiches.... They were really good. I think I liked the Ceaser better than the chicken parm and Bolognese sandwich. But it was a hot day and the Ceaser was a bit more refreshing. The bread and wrap were good. Lots of sauce and dressing. Lots of stuff stuffed into the sandwiches. Good stuff. Parking can be tricky. I would like to try out some of the other menu items one of these days.

If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend making a stop here. My biggest piece of advice is to go early because it gets incredibly busy by lunchtime--and for good reason! Keep in mind they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. While you can order online, I'll always choose to go inside so I can browse everything they have to offer. Their selection of fresh pasta salads is fantastic, and the desserts are always tempting. Whether you're craving lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, a chicken Parmesan sandwich, or one of their many other Italian specialties, you really can't go wrong. Be sure to check out the wine section in the back left of the market. It's extensive and absolutely incredible! This is the kind of place that keeps people coming back year after year, and it's easy to see why. Being Italian American and growing up with an Italian mother who loved feeding everyone, this was one of our favorite places to visit together. Those memories make every trip here even more special. My personal favorite is the Godmother sandwich--hands down one of the best you'll ever have. It's packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and it's the sandwich I find myself craving every time I come back. One of the things I love most about this place is the atmosphere. It has an energy that immediately makes you think of family. Everyone is genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to help, making you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door.
