Looking for things to do in the great Lake Winnipesaukee/Lake Winnisquam metro area, Gunstock…read moreMountain Resort popped up and I was happy to learn they have things to do all year round. As we were visiting in July, I got tickets to do the mountain coaster and it was great. Getting there was easy and there are large signs along the way to help guide you there easily. Once arrived at the huge parking lot, we locked the car and went to the ticket office where the super friendly young lady checked us in and let us know where to go. The coaster is clearly marked and when we got there, the line was very small. We had a timed ticket so we had unlimited rides for two hours. We rode the coaster a total of three times (took just over 30 minutes total) and that was plenty. It was a lot of fun and it's a thrill going through the trees so quickly...even the ride up is fun and scenic. There are a lot of staff helping on-board and off-board riders and they were all very friendly and helpful. The ride is safe for all ages and we saw little kids riding with their parents, youngsters riding alone (if they met the height requirement) and even grandparents riding it. It was a lot of fun...thrilling but not too scary. Just a reminder...you need to wear closed toe shows. Flip-flops and Crocs won't due it so bring some sneakers. There was a craft show going on while we where there so we walked around and spent some money on local food. That was nice. We also saw people on the zip lines and they all seemed to be having a blast. If we come back, I will definitely sign up for that. This was just a fun time at a nice place with friendly staff. The place feels so laid back (although safety is paramount so I don't want it to seem that wasn't taken seriously). If you come here, I think you'll be like me and leave with two things: 1) a smile on your face; and 2) a desire to come back soon.

Tues-Sat night skiing is $50...(with free rentals for those who need it). We will be going back for the night skiing. There is the Penny chairlift that does not go far up the mtn at all--it takes you a little bit up to try out some green trails. Those slopes are not very wide which is helpful for beginners in my opinion BUT my friends enjoyed it.

And its partnership with Indy Pass has opened up a new ski mountain to new people who can now experience its beauty and customer service ethos. The reception area has been redone with self service kiosks and an Indy counter. New bag holders and an information booth complete the downstairs. On top, a new bar and a beautiful cafeteria complement the resort. Yes, the slow lifts are still there. But the slopes have something for everyone. From steeps to the old New England type narrow and winding ski runs with cross trails, to beautiful green runs for beginners. All in the midst of natural beauty. It is truly a pleasure to be here. And the best part is the people. The staff is amazing. From the ticket attendants, to the lift personnel, to groomers, to the cafeteria and the superb pub, Tenney is one amazing place devoted to customer satisfaction. And mmmm... Another best part. You can REALLY relax here and pursue the sport, whether skiing, boarding or tubing. Unlike other areas where I feel I have to have eyes in the back of my head looking for out-of-control Jerry's, Tenney gave me the feeling of pure enjoyment. We absolutely had no worries about someone careening into us, or bump their way into the line. It was just a superb ski experience. We will be here again.

They even had port-a potties, which was helpful!

Conditions on 1.8 were above freezing with sun and cloud mix, little wind on north side but manageable. Was there for first chair, put in 24 runs for the day and was done a little before 3:00. Parking was a breeze. Lines were manageable for a weekday, never really waited which was nice. Most trails were open, no woods to really play which was a bummer. For being an Ikon holder, the three hour commute and the tank of gas up was worth checking out.

While their lift tickets can be a bit pricy, hitting them up during the shoulder seasons can help with affordability. I've been here in both early winter and late spring and found the trails to be in good condition! As someone who sticks to the greens with an occasional blue mixed in, their trails offer enough variety to keep me entertained throughout the day. I like having my pick of 4 chairlifts and a gondola to check out different sections of the mountain. On my last visit, there was a very challenging weather day the day before my visit and it was clear the staff were hard at work overnight to groom the trails. Throughout the day, they were actively working to open additional trails (at which they were very successful) as well as firing the snow machines to get other parts of the mountain open as soon as possible. The lower lodge is straightforward, offering plenty of seating to change into your ski boots and eat a meal. The food is pricy but we always try to make sure we have options out in the car to manage our costs throughout the day. That isn't unique to this ski resort of course though. The upper lodge at the top of the gondola is nice as well. Unlike the lower lodge, their bathrooms are on the same level as the entrance so no having to manage stairs in clunky boots. Gorgeous views of Mount Washington from the peak! Worth it on a bluebird day!
