I'm so pleased with the service I received today, I don't even know where to begin! It was just yesterday that I called Abetter Vent Cleaning to make what I believed would be just an inquiry "for now." While I knew our chimney needed cleaning/sweeping, I figured it would cost a couple to a few thousand dollars to do, and also, I didn't get the sense from the name that Abetter Vent Cleaning even handled fireplaces and chimneys, so I was not anticipating making an appointment - just fact gathering... But then I spent time on the phone with Alex. After letting me eat up at least 20 minutes worth of his time peppering him with questions, I set an appointment for the next day to have the chimney cleaned. He was so thorough, credible and accommodating...and when I heard the price...there was no need to wait any longer! Fast forward to today at 11am PT sharp! Dustin pulls up, assembles his tools, and proceeds to willingly and most generously educate me on not only the process he'd be using today, but also answering any questions I had on fireplace maintenance, vent cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, etc...He answered every question, explained what he was doing as he was cleaning our chimney, and assured me that visual inspection indicated we were good to go and could continue to operate with only preventive services moving forward. I say all this to say that if you're like us, and you have been putting off having your chimney cleaned for whatever reason, wait no more and call these guys! I have always had houses where the dryer was on an outside wall and the vent was just a short run, so that is my excuse for not looking at or having my dryer vent cleaned in this house (ever). I noticed that the laundry room seemed muggy when we were running the dryer so I decided to check the outside of the tubing to make sure there were no holes, at the last minute I wiggled it off the flange in the wall and I was shocked to see it was plugged. I cleaned up what I could with my shop vac but wasn't sure which way the vent ran in the wall so I realized I needed professional help. We used this service to get all of our Ducts cleaned, including the Dryer vent. So glad that we did. We recently purchased the home and wanted to make sure that everything was clean. Seeing the results of the dryer vent being cleaned was not surprising, lots of lint coming out. The home is about 10 yrs old and didn't know if any of the Duct work had been cleaned before, apparently not.. I had been told by another Chimney Sweep company that our chimney had caught fire and was unsafe. He said it was old and damaged and should be replaced for approximately $3800. We bought an older house (1991). When we moved in, our new gas dryer wouldn't heat. A check of the manual indicated that there was probably a blocked vent. We contacted Abetter Vent Cleaning, and they came the same day. The technician discovered that the outside vent cap was jammed into the vent - so securely that the only way to access the vent was to cut the cap off. He cleaned the vents (clearly something the previous owners had neglected). He quoted a reasonable price for the vent cap repair, but we chose not to have it done that day. We had him return to repair the cap yesterday, and have been joyously using the dryer almost non-stop since he finished. (Hanging all of your washing may be ecologically friendly. The clothes certainly smell fresh. However, even in California cotton takes a long time to dry.) The dryer is now working very efficiently. We feel this is due to the very clean vents. Pros: - They responded to phone calls quickly and professionally. - The two times we've used their services, they've been on time and had all of the required tools and parts. - The technicians performed the jobs efficiently. - They clean up any mess, and leave the house as clean as it was when they arrived. - While they are probably not the least expensive vendor, they do the quoted work in a reasonable length of time for the quoted price. Very professional and friendly company. Dustin came out and cleaned out my vent in about 20 minutes and checked his work with a camera to make sure it was completely clean. I tested my dryer and still had an issue. He was out the next day to get on the roof to confirm the cap was stuck shut and took care of it. He was going to check the roof originally but his ladder broke so he attempted all the methods he could and then advised me he would come back out if there was still an issue. My dryer is blowing hot as ever now. I was kept informed on the arrival time and he made it right on time. He explained everything in detail of what he was doing and how he fixed it. I was contacted by Alex, because he noticed the experience I had. He informed me that was not how they do business, he offered to come back out personally and perform the service himself. He made sure the chimney was safe structurally and operational.
