Came 20 minutes before closing and would have liked to eat in but the worker said no, if only he knew we could eat 2 shawarma in 10 minutes. I guess he said this because they were getting ready to clean up. I would have been mad about this but they offered us outdoor seating to eat our meal as they cleaned up which made up for it. The seating outside was cute. Inside the place looked very clean and modern. A little bit of an awkward beer display inside and scattered around the food display (pictured) but it's nice to have the option to buy a beer.We liked our food a lot, we got 2 lamb shawarma wraps and seasoned French fries. I love all their food but most I love their salads, they are so filling because they give you a great portion. The salads don't need any dressing it's already tossed in a flavorful citrus like dressing that naturally comes from all of the toppings and vegetables, between the chicken and the beef kebab, I like the beef it's softer, and easier to eat with the salad. I recently visited Abi's and wow...I was in Heaven. Their food really lifts me up. Johnny is fantastic. He's full of energy, charisma, and just an overall good person. Abi's also catered my son's Bar Mitzvah. There was absolutely no leftovers. I can't recommend Abi's enough. Their detail to serving the customer and their customer service is also award winning. Everyone is friendly and the restaurant has both inside and outdoor seating. The decor is much like a typical restaurant that has about 8 tables inside and about the same outside. I had homemade pita and hummus -the most delicious warm pita I've had. The hummus was fresh and full of garnishes I'd never experienced before. Olives and some greens and other veggies. It was a huge portion and tangy with a perfect texture. Chicken Schwarma is not something I've ever had before but it sounded good, so I gave it a try. It was full of flavorful chicken and I'm not sure what else. Every bite was a delight. I was so full after the first half that I had to put it down. I'll probably dream of the second half tonight. So this is one of those reviews where 1/2 points would be used. I would have given 3.5 stars. I'm going to break my review down for things I found to be 5stars to 1 star 5 stars for the food, it's fresh, it's delicious and the portions are large. I had the grilled lamb platter which came with rice, salad, hummus and pita. Lamb cubes tasty and tender. My partner had lamb shawarma platter served with all the same sides. She loved hers also. Side of falafel was tasty too 5 stars for friendly lady who took our order. The way it works is you order and pay at counter, tip jar on counter also, go get your drink and utensils yourself and they bring food to table and then you bus your own table at the end. Kinda like duchess fast food restaurants. No booths, just tables. 1 star for the prices. Although the food was good I think the prices were high. Like I said there's no waitress and you bus your own table. We had two platters, a side of falafel (4) and one iced tea and it was $45.09 for lunch and that's without a tip. Yes the food is good, yes the portions are big but I don't want to pay almost $50. for lunch and have to bus my own table. I usually go to the other place down the street in Monroe for my lamb/falafel fix but wanted to try this place. If they lowered prices I would go back but for now at the other place I get the same quality food, same large portions, same great service for half the price. Nice place and it is very clean. Laylas is located in the relatively new shopping center in Trumbull just past Whitney Avenue. They offer fresh salads and of coarse Falafels. They seem to do a really good business. This is a great place to go for lunch in particular. Everyone I know who has eaten here has very much enjoyed the experience. read more

This is such a solid establishment. Never disappointing. This is the first time I got the Layla's Shawarma vs my usual chicken and I loved it!! This one is chicken and lamb. I love my sandwiches to have a kick so I asked them to make it spicy and it was perfect. They are really filling and packed with chicken and lamb. The garlic sauce is my favorite part of this although you'll need Listerine after. They are wonderful for takeout just don't have the shawarma sit too long wrapped up bc the crispy wrap will eventually get soggy. read more

The tomatoes were not ripe/red, as they should be this time of summer, and the rice wasn't too tasty. Driving through CT, in this area we were getting hungry. After a quick review on Yelp, figured this spot was a good choice. Boy, are we glad we went. Everything we ordered tasted sooo fresh and so delicious. The kabobs take an additional 20 minutes to make, but that was fine with us. And we knew they were fresh. The hummus was definitely homemade, light and airy and a noticeable taste of tahini. The garlic sauce on the side packed a kick!! The adults loved it, but glad it was served on the side because it was too much for the kids. Loves that the falafel sandwhich was wrapped up. I never had it that way before -- usually it's stuffed in a pita. But this way made all the flavor come out in each bite and not fall over the plate and make a mess. Total win! The salmon and shrimp kabobs were super tasty and the rice (tried both kinds) were delicious. If we lived in this area, we would come often. But, glad we found such a yummy spot to try out. The price is good, food is fresh and the service is friendly and quick, its really clean inside and they have a really comfortable outdoor seating area plus they sell alcohol so if you want to just come and relax with cocktail you can.
