    Chicken Shawarma Platter

From the moment you walk in the door, the amazing aroma hits you making it hard to decide on which dish to try. The owners were extremely warm and welcoming. We opted for the shawarma platter with the lentil rice. It was served with a side salad, humus and condiments... AND let me tell you.... It did not disappoint! 10/10. For the finishing touch we had baklava and that was also delish. The price for the quality and quantity of food is amazing. Highly recommend.

My wife and I stopped into Abi's Falafel recently and we were both seriously impressed. This place is such a hidden gem. We ordered the Mixed Grill Platter and the Falafel Platter and everything was absolutely delicious -- super fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. The Mixed Grill had perfectly cooked lamb chops, chicken, and kefta. You could taste the spices in every bite, and the meat was juicy and tender. The Falafel Platter was just as good -- the falafel were crispy on the outside and soft inside, with really clean, fresh flavor (not greasy like you sometimes find elsewhere). Everything came with fresh pita, creamy hummus, and a light, refreshing salad. You can tell they care a lot about the ingredients they use and how the food is prepared -- nothing tasted rushed or cheap. The vibe inside is casual and comfortable. You walk up to the counter to order (there's a menu board right above), and they'll bring your food out to your table if you're dining in, or you can take it to go. The restaurant was super clean and well-kept, which we both appreciated. It just felt good being there. The owner and the staff were really friendly and welcoming too -- you could tell they genuinely appreciate every customer that comes through the door. It's always nice when you feel like your business is valued. Prices were very fair, especially considering the portion sizes and the quality of the food. It's also a great spot if you're vegetarian -- lots of meatless options that looked really good too. We will absolutely be recommending Abi's Falafel to friends and family, and we're already planning to come back soon to try even more of the menu. If you're looking for authentic Mediterranean food in the Trumbull area, this place is 100% worth the visit.

Management changed and I definitely like it better now. The food is great, good sized portions, but service could be better. The owner says the food is Halal, but they do serve beer/alcohol so eat at your own discretion. Food is definitely fresh and made to order, cute ambiance, but there is not much seating. Great option for takeout or a quick lunch.

This is my second time posting a review for Abi's Falafel in Trumbull, CT. My go to for a quick, delicious and healthy meal. Best middle eastern food in CT! They have the most delicious kebabs, shawarma, salads, falafel, hummus and homemade lemonade to name a few! If you are in mood for some authentic delicious Arabic food, you got to try this place! Highly recommend it! The portions are very generous. Good Arabic food that tastes absolutely amazing. I ordered chicken shawarma salad and beef kebab salad. Both a must try! Love the ambiance and the decor. The service is super fast. I can't rave enough about this place. They also have lot of parking in the rear of the restaurant. Last but not the least love the music and the vibe. I will give it 5/5 for sure!

We had a great meal at Abi's! The food was made fresh to order and still came out fairly quickly! Their hummus was insanely good, and the pita bread was so fresh. My fiancé and I enjoyed our platters - he had the kafta, and I had the lamb. We both agreed that the kafta was our favorite, and that the lamb could've been a bit more flavorful. The rice and salad on the platter were both very good, and I was addicted to the garlic sauce on the side! We liked the falafel as well. Everyone was friendly behind the counter and took good care of us while we dined in. I found that the restaurant was very clean too!

Huge fan of this place fir middle eastern food in CT. My go to lunch spot I love the Abi's shawarma. They are usually quick to serve but note if your ordering kabobs its a 20 minute wait which I don't mind since it means they are cooking it fresh. Clean little shop in trumbull you can dine in but I usually take them to go. If your new to Trumbull definitely check this place out I have not had a bad meal yet.

Stopped by because I found on Yelp while I was in the area and they did not disappoint. The owner was so kind and friendly with everyone who came in. We ordered a chicken kabob platter and chicken shawarma wrap. Both were delicious and very filling. Can tell everything is homemade fresh. Will def be back again. Love to support local businesses doing things right

    Chicken Shawarma Platter

Having moved from NYC, I wanted authentic, affordable, and most importantly delicious Middle Eastern food. This place is really my go-to now. Everything tastes fresh and portion sizes are fair for the price. I have tried their chicken platter, chicken shawarma sandwich and also lamb salad. All are great. The lamb is very juicy and they give you a good amount. The sandwich is also not dry. I don't know what else to say, but you have to try this place out. I did notice they are closed Sundays and Mondays- but hey, just don't close every day.

This place deserves 5 stars it's clean and organized and the food is very very good we ordered few plates and everything was cooked to perfection and beautiful presentation Keep up the good work guys I talk to the owner Johnny he was very nice and he seems to care about his restaurant

The selection is sizable, and offers items you won't find in a regular grocery store. I stocked up on spices, and coffee. Prices are reasonable, and portions are generous. Luckily, a table had just opened up, and as a result, we feasted on the Moroccan cigars (very good), and the outrageously delicious flatbread (with three of the five mezze options). Our selected mezze options were the labneh, spicy feta, and the tzatziki. All were delicious, but the labneh stood out the most. I love labneh. The flatbread was served fresh out of the oven with a drizzle of oil and condiments. It was moist, aromatic, and steamy. Weeks later, I am still thinking about that damn bread. Yum. Since it was my first time, a friend and I shared the Nazareth lamb kebab potpie and the black angus ribeye shawarma. Both were tasty and the portions were substantial. Other friends had the Moroccan style halibut and the charcoal grilled ribeye skewer. The skewer was extra impressive because the skewer...was a SWORD. Everybody enjoyed their meal. With limited space in our bellies, we pushed forward by sharing the kunefe with pistachio. The thing about me is I can't say no to anything containing pistachio. I loved it just as much as the flatbread. 10/10 Overall, I was impressed. The flavors at Esh were enticing and the ambiance is trendy enough. A word to the wise: Esh serves what I imagine folks enjoy regularly in the Middle East for a fraction of the cost. When you visit, be prepared to spend $100+ PP. Fairfield isnt the Middle East, it's Connecticut.

But this is what finally led me to try Bereket. I live within walking distance and it's always piqued my interest, but I never wanted to be disloyal to WOW, so I'd never actually tried it. Well, WOW wasn't open, so today was the day. I ordered what I would normally get from WOW: the shawarma platter. I thought I ordered chicken, but I guess I hit the wrong thing and ended up with lamb. I like lamb, so I'm not deducting any points for that. My bad. First off, the portion is massive. Definitely bigger than WOW's, with the actual pieces of meat being much larger and more substantial. My big gripe with that, though, is that the huge pieces make it kind of difficult to mix everything together without food falling everywhere. You basically have to lift the meat up, dig down to the rice underneath, move some rice onto another plate, then put the meat back on top to make the whole thing manageable. Quite a tedious process. I'd probably layer everything differently so it's easier to actually eat. The rice was probably the weakest part. There was WAY too much of it, it was overcooked and pretty bland, and you basically get a ginormous mountain. It was split between plain white rice and some sort of brown/spicy-ish orange-reddish rice. Whatever the second one was, I definitely liked it more than the white rice. My biggest complaint isn't even the rice, though. For a platter this big, you HAVE to give more sauce. One tiny little cup of tzatziki just isn't going to cut it with that much food. I'd put some directly on top of the platter and still give a bigger portion on the side. The salad, not gonna lie, was a bit pathetic. It felt like it was just kind of thrown together and didn't add much to the dish. I was hoping it would provide a nice veggie/fresh element to balance out the giant pile of meat and rice, but it really didn't. I was also going to say the dish could use some heat, but WOW (not the other restaurant), that pepper is SPICY. It's good when eaten with bites of everything else, but still... I could've used some red sauce or hot sauce drizzled over the whole thing. Finally, I was a little disappointed that the platter came with pita instead of lavash. WOW feels more Turkish to me, whereas this felt more Greek, especially with the massive gyro-style pieces of meat and pita bread. Overall, I'm not mad at it. It was tasty, the portion is enormous, and there were definitely things I liked. But with Bereket being more expensive than WOW, I'm not sure I'd get this platter again. For the higher price, there were just too many little things that didn't quite live up to par. Solid 3/5.

So I think now is the time I finally unpack and just say how I feel. For the last several months,…read moreI have not been very happy with Yelp. It's not just that I had one review removed despite that being from a place I've actually eaten their food from, but that the algorithm has used some of my other reviews in the past to make me look misleading, whether it be adding in information I did not add myself, switched the location of where I had reviewed a place, all of it has led me to distrust Yelp throughout the rest of 2025. I couldn't write another review up until now because every time I had even consider doing so, it felt awkward. I hate having to start a new year off like this, but over the last few weeks, I've had to work on letting go of my anger and confront my issues. Maybe this review can be a way to help with that. End emotional rant. Let's get into Kanoon, because oh boy do I have a lot of thoughts to unpack from here. So how did I actually come to dine at Kanoon? Actually, mom had found this spot and she described the people working there as nice people. We were actually going to go to Texas Roadhouse until we saw the lines inside and went here instead. This visit was more for the sake of mom's emotional well-being than anything else. Parking was a bit of a tight stunt, but as long as you can find somewhere to park you should be okay. Now, upon entering, you have to wait to be seated. Of course, because I parked the car while my mother crutched her way over to a table, I was able to just come in and tell the employee who I was with and head on over to that table. Decor and thematically, it's pleasant to look at. There's a bull head on one of the walls with a Kanoon license plate nearby. Two arcade machines are stowed away near the bathrooms. Bathrooms were nice too I guess. There's two areas where you can be seated at. At one point while we were eating, we are featured a show of dry ice at our tables. It's like fog on our own tables. They do take it back after a short while. Like I said, it's nice to look at. So now onto the food. There was the Lotus Shake, the Hummus Plate, a tray of slaws, mom had the lamb, and I had the smoked meat starter. Oh, and the crepeholics crepe was the dessert. Food is served on exotic plates and on wood. The lamb my mom got was served on a cracked wooden plate that was on its way out, so even though she did still like the lamb, she didn't finish the salad that came with it. As for me, the meat on my platter tasted fine at first, but the more I ate, the more of a story it told. The more I ate, the blander it got. Not even some extra pepper that was available at my table could save the meat. While I did still finish it, it was not without a struggle. The fries were at least crispy, and the cheese on top helped with the flavor a little. Also, the presentation was top-notch. The hummus plate was another item that was presented well, and if the main dish was as good as the hummus, I would probably have added another star to the review. But yes, the hummus was in fact a good appetizer. The chickpeas that topped it were just right. The Lotus Shake was probably the best thing I had of the night. It's a shake topped with whipped cream, a Biscoff cookie, cookie crumbs, and one of those cookie straws that are this one treat I can't think of the name at the moment. The milkshake had a caramel flavor to it, and mixed with the whipped cream was divine. The dessert was a little underwhelming if I have to be honest. You have the same caramel Biscoff flavor you did with the Lotus Shake in this crepe, and the chocolate was more of a milk chocolate. Funny thing, I had actually recently learned how to make custard using dark chocolates, and just from having my own custard alone I can tell you that this crepe would have been better complimented if a dark chocolate was used in place of the milk chocolate. This place isn't really anything to write home about. The only reason I even knew this place existed before was because this place had tons of fake Google reviews in its opening weeks. I hope Google has begun cracking down on that, but I had already lost my trust in Yelp before, so I'm going to call that even and just rate this place based on my experience here. Because it was an okay-at-best place, I can't say I would recommend Kanoon at this time.
