I definitely recommend Kurt and his team at Able Body, because they're great at what they do. We have some aging carpet in our commercial retail space and he was able to clean it efficiently and with a reasonable rate. I've also tried renting machines before, as well as used my crappy home carpet cleaning machine... And it does 20% of the cleaning (in 3 hours and multiple water dumps and many passes), of what this company can do in less time. So if you want less of a headache, backache and a dryer carpet, give these guys a call because of the great customer service and quick turnaround. I spent a couple of hours moving all our furniture and things in 4 of our rooms so he and his team could do a thorough job, but after calling 15 times and multiple texts on the day of the appointment - there was radio silence. I am very very disappointed in how the scheduled appointment was handled. It's very unprofessional and will not be using them in the future. Last Wednesday, when in my basement with a Comcast tech to take care of a cable issue, I saw a couple of trickling streams of water coming down through the floor from my office room, where I had temporarily sequestered my dog. I ran up there and found that my dog had knocked over a 10-gallon bucket (on wheels) I had clean water in for an aquarium. About 3 gallons spilled & soaked about a 6-by-6 area in the center of the room. I blotted up as much as I could with towels, used a wet vac, and ran two fans. By Friday, however, it started smelling weird. I then called Able Body Carpet, whom I had found through Yelp; Kirk was out of town that weekend, but could come on Monday at 9 a.m. I basically first wanted his advice on what to do next, so mold didn't form in the carpet pad. Kirk came right on time, assessed the extent of the water seepage, and recommended trying first what you see in the photos--- an air blower blowing under the carpet at one corner, which causes the whole rug to balloon up slightly, so the air dries out the carpet and pad, and also a dehumidifier that sucks up all the evaporated moisture in the air. With the door closed, I kept it on for 48 hours. The dehumidifier made the room air warm and was making my aquarium water temp rise, so I shut off the tank heater and monitored the temp. When it started rising to 80, I floated a frozen water bottle in there, which kept the water at 78; I replenished the frozen coolers as needed. Wednesday at 11 a.m. Kirk returned and checked with his moisture meter probe, and YAY, all was dry!!! I was quite relieved with that, and, also, with the fact that I wouldn't have to resort to removing all 4 file cabinets and a large bookcase, to further remove moisture. The bill for the service was quite reasonable, I thought. $330 for the two days ($150 for service call, $50 for the blower for 2 days, $130 for two days of running the dehumidifier). I called Able Body after having a bad experience with another carpet cleaner. The father and son team were very professional and friendly. They "re-cleaned" my carpet for less than their usual price. The previous cleaner had drowned my carpet in water and not extracted all of the old water. Able body got rid of most of the excess water from the previous cleaner and loaned me fans (for free) to help dry out my carpets. Carpet also came out cleaner than the previous guy.
