I have fine, thin hair and Alicia is the master. So many stylists think they should have a pile of hair on the floor after a haircut. With my hair, the pile should look like a few shavings. Alicia knows it's about the hair you leave with, not what is on the floor after. And my hair always looks the best it can be after my visit. She's also very good at talking me out of some of my impulsive ideas. Not everyone needs that, but I do. :) A few years ago I moved about an hour away and tried someone else. You already know what I'm going to say.... Disaster! Even after all my descriptions of my type of hair and how to handle it, I had 80's style bangs that went too far on the sides. I think the stylist had this muscle memory of how much hair should be pulled for normal bangs and she had to pull a lot more with my hair to get to her norm. Immediately I regretted the error of my ways!! I now drive the hour up to Temecula from Coronado to have it done right. I know! It may sound extreme but it's worth it. From hair color to extensions to the blow out and styling, she is excellent. read more

Not what I expected at all. I was recommended to Stephanie for a body spray (tanning). I needed one for a special event. The next day my entire back and neck was black. Not dark...black! I had planned on wearing a strappy dress to this event and ended up having to wear something that covered most of my body. Time and money wasted on a dress and the tan. I've had spray tans before from another salon, but nothing this horrid. The owner, Alicia, used to be a decent stylist when she was with Salon 29. But after all the salon-hopping she did, who can keep up? She used to do my highlights and extensions, but after some kind of "experimental" crap she put in my hair, I was very disappointed. Then when I left message after message for someone to take those god-awful extensions out, no one ever returned my calls. Ever since leaving Salon 29, Alicia has really changed, and not in a good way. Now she has someone greet you at the door, she glances at you, then has her assistant do all the work. If she was a proper business woman who wanted to expand her horizons while maintaining a good bond with her regulars, I would have considered staying. But since forgetting to take care of those who brought her success, I'm headed back across the street. read more

Amanda provided me a free bridal consultation. When I first walked in I felt welcome & spoiled. They made me coffee & gave me chocolate covered pretzels. Amanda was so nice and understanding of how picky I want to be with my hair and makeup on my wedding day. She is offering me a complimentary trial with the purchase of her services. And it's so much cheaper than other makeup artists I've researched! She quoted me $85 for bridal makeup and $95 for hair. My girls are $65 for makeup each. But most places charge you $100 for a trial! And she does airbrush for free and offered to do my acne on my back and chest included! Airbrush is always extra everywhere else. I'm most likely going to go with her if I like the trial. She is so sweet! And they offer spa services that my bridesmaids and I might use to treat ourselves before the wedding weekend! Oh and to top it off they recommended an awesome health foods sandwich shop down the street. Definitely worth my trip to temecula from corona! And they offered me a coffee refill ;) read more

This full service salon is a 10! Angela Guerriero is so educated when it comes to hair. She is amazing!! I had just had my hair colored at another salon and it was a mess. Almost black around my face but med brown in back. Also my hair was so dull! Angela worked her talents and not only corrected my color but also gave my hair a healthy shine. When I walked into this salon, it just screamed "classy." It's probably the biggest salon I've ever been to. The decor was a clean and tasteful mix of modern and vintage with dark woods, cool toned walls and large ornate mirrors at every station. My mom and I had an appointment with Caroline. We told the lady at the front desk about our appointment and she kindly directed us to Caroline's "room" upstairs. Yeah I said this place is big! (I also heard they have a special room for teeth whitening and massages. They offer so many services here!) Anyway, Caroline herself was fantastic. She loves talking about her kids which is adorable. I've seen Lindsa twice now for my hair. And I am so happy to have met her. Prior to meeting Lindsa, I was seeing a wonderful stylist for 8 years or so...she had moved to a new salon in Rancho Sante Fe and over a short period of time, nearly doubled her prices... so it got to a point where I needed to find someone new. I was not unhappy with the services I was receiving from my prior hairstylist. I was only seeking someone new, because the prices had exceeded what I was comfortable with paying. That said, I was very concerned about trying someone new since again, I was not unhappy with the service that I was receiving. Thankfully, I was referred to Lindsa. I was so so happy with the color, cut and style that Lindsa did. And she gives the most fantastic scalp massages when at the shampoo bowl! Went to get a body wave perm done in December. Horrible Experience. I know perms are tricky to do, but the lady who did my hair said she was experienced so I trusted her. A couple of my friends had body waves done in OC and they looked beautiful! I naturally have thick straight long hair. So I found this place in Temecula thinking this high end salon could take care of me. The overall place was gorgeous. After my consultation, I felt excited to get it done. The next day, after 3 long hours, my hair turned out "eh." I couldn't really tell it was permed because it was wet when she sent me home. After it dried that night it was a MESS. Completely ruined. It was straight all the way down with little frizzy waves at the end. I was so upset, and I am never the person to complain about things. The next day I went back, and talked to the manager. (I wanted my money back, since I paid 300 bucks for a bad service.) She was very nice, but she said she couldn't do anything about it because the stylist worked as an individual not under the salon company. So I waited to talk to my stylist. My stylist offered to redo it. I gave in and agreed. The next day I went in, and my stylist and another stylist tag teamed my hair. The new stylist HAD TO TEACH my stylist how to piggy back perm. I thought if my stylist was so experienced, why didn't she know how to do this? The whole time she kept saying how "all she is used to is perming older people" & I kept thinking why didn't you tell me this earlier? After my perm, she cut my ends (which made them so uneven). I left with a knot in my stomach. Since then, my hair is damaged from doing the perm twice, it's getting back to being straight again. (except for the top of my head.) After my perm, I broke out all over my back. I don't know if it was a reaction to the solution or what, but to this day I am still struggling to deal with this mess. I regret ever making this decision to do this. Lesson learned. The reason it's not 1 star is because I know it is not the salon's fault for what the stylist did. read more

I have been coming to Above & Beyond Beauty Salon and Spa for over 2 years now, and I am always so impressed with the extraordinary service and talent here. Amanda knows exactly how to make my hair look it's best and make me feel pampered. My favorite part is getting to relax on their full lounge chair at the hair wash station, that's designed for comfort with dim lighting, soft spa-like music and privacy. I also sometimes have to bring my 10 yr old son and they always have a comfortable chair for him to hang with me for the appointment. This place is worth the drive even if you're from out of town. I was specifically looking for a spa that offered eminence products and stumbled upon this place on yelp. They have wonderful reviews so I made an appointment. They don't have the prices of the services online so I was a little nervous going into it but honestly really satisfied with the price because of the products they use. Upon receiving my facial with Gabby I can say now that I would pay double the price to go back if I had to. She was so knowledgeable and extremely detailed. I have problematic skin and she took great care of me. I told her I really wanted to come back and to get on a good schedule and my skin was really haggard so I told her to just go ham and she really did. I looked pretty terrible afterwards but now, a few days later my skin hasn't looked this great in a while and I already got a few compliments. After my facial I told her I needed a new moisturizer and asked for her recommendation of their products, honestly usually after any facial the esthetician will typically push products heavy and it can be overwhelming but instead she gave me samples and scheduled me another appointment and told me to see how those products work first which really made me trust her and appreciate her judgement. The color didn't fully take to my hair, and instead of taking the time to fix it, and give me the proper appointment attention, I was asked to sit on the side while my stylist tended to a more affluent client who came in.
