Turns out, those roofers were calling a substance rust that wasn't rust and I didn't need a fix at all! Jay Jr literally saved me $4k on the spot (with photo evidence and all) by pointing that out. I learned so much about our gutters and roofs from that first meeting, he was a wealth of knowledge. Right there, I knew he was our guy. I didn't need Jay to fix the slate anymore but since I was so impressed I happily hired him to do some gutter fixes we needed done and painting a small portion of flat rubber roof white. He did a fantastic job with both. Jay was also the person in charge of our project and doing the work himself. He texted to give me a heads-up before he arrived each day and gave me a recap after each day to share progress and findings (with photos). Over several days of work he found a bunch of previously undiscovered but significant problems that he fixed without charging me more. Jay's integrity is unmatched - he knows that by working on your roof/gutters that his name is forever on that roof/gutter and he takes that very seriously. they get the job done fast, but there quality, craftsmanship and caring about doing a good job, is…read moreseriously lacking. they destroyed a 12 ft section of aluminum flashing that abuts the sunroom roof and house wall. they made numerous 2 inch holes in the flashing, my guess is with a pry bar, during the removal of the shingles below the flashing, speed is everything, taking your time to make sure you don't damage the flashing is an afterthought. Now I'm concerned about all the other flashing on my roof, that was probably damage during the roof job, that I won't know about until I see the leaks In my house interior.

Naturally I reached out to Len Gibely. What was their response? "Unfortunately we are not taking on any new roof repairs at this time. We are currently booked 8 months out. Maybe try reaching out to the company that installed your roof?" Ok. So apparently there is a waiting list of people with actively leaking roofs willing to wait 8 months to have them repaired? Len Gibely must have branched out into mold remediation as well as roofing. And as they must surely know, since I've been a customer of theirs for so long, that the 203k construction company that rehabbed the house isn't going to be come back for a roof repair 9 years later - they only do total rehabs. If you want a company you can depend on, look somewhere besides Len Gibley. By the way, what's up with the reversal of the Gibely and the Len?

A repair that should cost under $100 in parts can easily end up costing $1,000. On top of that, while they promise a 24-hour response, you can still end up waiting two weeks in the middle of a hot summer for your AC to actually be fixed. But if you call Dave at Alwife Plumbing 617-699-4358, it's a completely different experience. He and his small, professional team handle the job efficiently and on a reasonable budget. Dave often knows exactly what needs to be fixed after just a simple phone call or text message--and he always approaches the work with the happiest, most helpful attitude.

They really need to work on their organization. Lost invoices, don't always show up when expected,…read moredon't call back, damaged historic floors during installation, etc. We will be having another HVAC company review the work they did because we don't trust it was done well! Very expensive project (20g plus!) should be done well! It's been about 1.5 years since they installed two hvac systems. They are still trying to fix the systems and make then work correct. Every time thy are here they damage our walls. The system is still open and unfinished. They have rerouted things and replaced parts galore but it still is terrible. 2/111/19 update I'm happy to post an update. It's taken YEARS to have the system mostly working. Alewife has returned numerous times to try and fix things. 20% of the issues were related to the insulating problem, but that doesn't change the fact that the humidifier was installed incorrectly and had to be uninstalled. (that $1000 piece of equipment is sitting on our basement floor, useless). We removed ALL THE INSULATION and opened up the whole space AGAIN so that alewife could "fix" it all again. Yes the company will return to fix things, but why do we have so many problems with the system all along? Nobody is accepting responsibility for their poor installations.
