To be completely honest with you, I wasn't on hiatus from Yelp all this time (I know my reviews were starting to become missed about these parts). I have been thinking for almost a month now on what place I could write a review for my big number 1-0-0! I wanted it to be someplace I frequented way more than I'd like to count and really needed to be noticed for such. After some deep soul and brain searching, I asked myself is there no better place to review other than Arrowhead Hospital?! Nope, I think this choice tops about everything (that is that I haven't already reviewed). I've had one near death experience in their ER. Leave it to me, to end up in the ER for the most bizarre or scariest things I could have ever imagined (try a butter knife stab to the left index finger or a locked jaw due to a sudden onset of TMJ at 2am on for size!). But I have this theory going that AZ has been trying to kill me since the moment I first stepped foot on its dry cracked soil. Yet, I hold no grudges for it, I just simply go get fixed up and put back out here in the world. Considering most of the times I ended up here I was slightly incapacitated, I will have to say I was treated as well as a hospital can treat a ER patient. They would let me sit in the waiting room until I passed out or faked death, check on me once I made it to the ER, fix IVs, and sometimes bring me stuff to stay preoccupied with while I waited for a horrid prognosis (yea, I know I can be a bit dramatic, but just keep reading!). So yay for average bed side manner and medical professionals and staff that do their job! I've visited others here before and saw a bit of how the non-ER hospitalites lived. I think they've got it ok, but I only base this from outward appearances and have no non-ER testimony of my own. So why the three stars Ameerah, you ask? You're still alive and kicking, in moderately good health and not the most noticeable scars...And you know what I say in response? I say, I got some beef. I got some serious beef! But not with the physical hospital per say, but with their billing/collections department. Abrazo Health Care has the most incompetent individuals working for them in that department! I'm still haunted with this to this very day! Numerous (no, not just one!) medical bills that were PAID for by my insurance ON TIME, but have their stamp of delinquency in my credit history. There is another thing I would like to add to my list of things you don't mess with about me. And that's my credit. I'm an adult now, and its really important that I don't have things like that lingering about, please and thank you. So yes you, Abrazo Health Care billing, I despise your methods of operation (or more like the lack thereof) and consequently one of your facilities that I frequent is getting the brash decision of a star reduction on its review!!! If I could give a negative number I would. I got to the ER at 4 am, got called back within 20 minutes to take my vitals, sent back to waiting room and sat there until 8 am with absolutely no communication. Asked for a blanket because it is freezing in there, for a blank stare from the admittance lady, she got up, saying nothing, I didn't know if she was getting one or not, she returned with one, didn't say a word and handed it to me. Found out the couple sitting by me had been there since 12:15 am!!! She was finally called at 7:45 am, unbelievable!!! A mom and her daughter had been there since 2:00 am and they finally left at 8 am when she was able to get into her pediatrician. Absolutely deplorable! If there isn't enough staff or beds they should tell the people waiting to give them the chance to decide if they want to stay or go elsewhere because that's what you should do!!! Do not bother going there!!! read more

I give this hospital no stars. If lil Jr. comes in to the ER with a mild cough and you show up 5 minutes later, in obvious pain and discomfort then guess what- you're going to sit and suffer while the kid who could be treated at home with a slathering of Vick's Vap-O-Rub is seen before you. The billing department is also a shit show- set up a payment plan, pay on time and then be treated to multiple phone calls claiming they're about to send your account to collections and shaking you down for the money. The best that could happen to Arrowhead Hospital would be a total evacuation of all human, canine and feline life to a minimum safe distance, followed by an expert firebombing and razing. It's the North Korea of so-called healthcare. read more

We found the Emergency Room of this hospital by accident, because Your Family Physician Urgent Care would not see us and it is around the corner. I have been to maybe 10 emergency rooms in my lifetime and this is by far the BEST experience I have ever had. They were amazingly clean, accommodating, friendly and well trained. The had a Patient Liaison employee that checked on us every half hour, offering a warm blanket, something to drink, etc. They had cable, with Pirates of The Caribbean playing, a very large, comfortable waiting room with nice bathroom facilities and vending machines. Paperwork was a breeze. All the staff greeted us in a friendly, helpful manner. The nurse at the front desk even clean the pens, clipboards and glass after patient use! My only complaint is that it was a long wait, but that is par for the course in an ER. read more

Avoid this place!! We came here on Thanksgiving 2020 and have been dealing with this awful place ever since. They are sending multiple bills from many different companies. They are not clear or direct with any of the payments we owe. They have refused to send us a breakdown of payments. I wish so desperately I went ANYWHERE else other than this place. Please! I had to take my husband to the Abrazo Arrowhead hospital emergency this past Friday as he was experiencing Afib. We arrived at the hospital at 11:30 PM and were taken in almost immediately for triage. He was taken to a room in the emergency department, hooked up to monitors and given necessary medication through an IV to try to control the heart. The admitting nurses were (both males) great and very professional. After about an hour a doctor came in and asked a few questions, but kept leaving the room for some other reason (not emergency calls that I could tell). He said he would wait for the blood results and then inform us. After about another hour he came back and said blood results were good but that my husband would be admitted. He left the room and we never saw him again even after I informed a nurse that my husband was experiencing dizzy spells. I also asked the nurse if he could provide some water for my husband as he was very thirsty. He said he would get the clearance from the doctor, which never came. Once in a while a nurse came in to look at the monitor and left with no communication. At 4:00 AM a nurse finally came in, said my husband had been admitted and she was moving him to a quieter room. The room was very small (still in the emergency center, not upper floor) looked like a dungeon stuck at the end of the hall leading out to the the exit from Emergency far away from the nursing station. He was not provided with any water even after I mentioned again to the nurse he was thirsty. I had to provide him with water at this point. My husband was in that little room on a very uncomfortable gurney type bed for another 8 hours. He received little attention even when ringing the alert button. It appeared that his heart had converted to normal rhythm but he was still waiting on a cardiologist to come, review his case and to release him if possible. At this point it was 1:30 PM on Saturday and we were both frustrated with the care and continuous wait time for a doctor that was obviously not on the immediate horizon. The nurses finally said they wanted to move him to an upper floor room. For what? To wait another two days before we saw a cardiologist who was probably only going to release him since he had converted? My husband refused because he felt he would be taking up a much needed room only to be told he was good to go home. He said he would wait in the emergency room for the doctor who never came. At 1:40 PM I went to the charge nurse and informed her I was taking him home since no one was coming. We were both exhausted and tired to waiting. The nurse came in with paperwork for my husband to sign saying he refused treatment? What?? He never refused, just appears he did not get the treatment he should have received. We were very disappointed with the care given a heart patient. Hopefully we never have to experience this again. read more

Compared to other places I've had surgery, the check-in process here is a lot slower. When you're about to have surgery, you get pretty anxious and just sitting there waiting doesn't really help, especially when you don't get called in until less than an hour before the surgery is to start. As far as everything else goes, things went pretty smoothly - what I remember of it of course. The nurses were nice, and I felt like I was take care of. If I had a choice, I don't think I'd come back here again but wouldn't mind it either. read more

I do not recommend having your baby at this hospital location. It was just an unpleasant experience overall. When we were first admitted the nurse stuck my arm over 4 times in the dark trying to get an IV in and finally had to call another nurse to do it. All she had to do was turn the lights on and got it within one try. Communication was lacking tremendously and we didn't find out we were going to be admitted until 3 hours later when the next shift came in and a nurse showed up to take us to the delivery room. When we entered the delivery room the first thing I noticed was the very strong odor. It had a very distinct smell of a dirty/wet dog. The furniture was outdated with broken and tattered walls. To be honest I was really nervous to have the baby because it seemed unsanitary but at this point it felt like we were past the point of no return. The delivery nurse was amazing but it turns out she only fills in sometimes at this hospital. The delivery part was not bad and everyone I encountered on that side was actually pleasant. However, when we were transferred to our room this is where I felt we were most frustrated with. One of the nurses we encountered I told her how I had a pain on the back of my calf muscle that wouldn't go away. Instead of examining it she just told me I most likely sprained a muscle. The part that was frustrating was the thought that it could possible be a blood clot and she didn't even look at it. It more of hey let me examine and if it not awesome but to not even look is concerning! The nurses seemed to forget to check in on you and would not bring the medicine that was supposed to have been administered already. I found that whenever I was in pain I always had to call the nurse to receive the next dose that should have already been administered. Not to mention they took my little boy away to bathe him and didn't ask if we want to see it or be there for it. That's kind of a special moment that we can't get back. The next thing that was off putting was the nurses talking bad about the employees who would come by to survey the patient. As a patient, that is incredible unprofessional and imagine you don't like them because they are telling you there is room for improvement. The next day finally came and we kept having to ask our nurse about discharge. She would ask if we'd seen the doctor and we would say no, finally we asked if she knew if she would be in. Again, very inappropriately talked unprofessional about the doctors implied they do what they want. I get it people are busy, but having other kids at home with a babysitter you need to be informed. Finally the doctor came in the afternoon, and a few hours passed and we hadn't seen our nurse. Finally we called to see if someone would send her by so we could be discharged. The last thing that bothered me was if I didn't ask for my IV to be taken out I am almost 99% sure they would have forgot and sent me home with it because no exaggeration that almost happened. This is my 3rd child, and it was a disappointing experience compared to my last two. We tried to save time by going to a hospital closer to us but I really wish I had someone to warn us before we went. Just please if anything just take the communication aspect back to your nurses. It really makes a huge difference! I really hope this will help another mom unsure of her decision on where to have her little one. read more

I don't recommend this hospital to animals!! Mom was admitted for pneumonia and urinary track infections and the next day or 2 they FORGOT to give her antibiotics!!! I found out randomly because her fever came back. And many things that were done where we had to tell them what to do, and I'm not in the medical field!! Don't go there!!! read more

Abrazo Arrowhead Campus - Hospitals Near Me - Glendale, Arizona

This is the worst hospital I've ever visited. I came here because I'm dehydrated, and upon checking in, I magically needed an EKG so they can bill the insurance for more money. They are slow and really show no compassion for the patients. There was an elderly lady in the waiting room throwing up in a bucket, and no one assisted her. They left her there, holding on to her bucket of barf. She eventually went to the counter and received two disgusting looks from the staff. After a stare down with the puke bucket, one of the staff finally put a glove on and took it from her. The young girl at the front desk was on her phone most of the time, not doing much of anything. She actually went back to her phone after handling the puke. I've sat here for 2 hours and still not seen. The wifi is horrible, and they want you to finish your registration online. So, in the meantime, you do nothing and have to wait to be seen to get a tablet to finish your registration. read more

I just had a hip replacement at this hospital, and it went great thanks to the skill of the surgeon and healthcare team. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the hospital conditions at Abrazo Arrowhead. There were several missteps in the process, from being told the wrong time for the surgery, to seeing torn sheets and dirty floors at the pre-op room, to the bed provided in the hospital room I was assigned. I complained about the noise coming from the bed every few minutes, which was a loud chugging sound that accompanied a feeble attempt at "massaging" my body every few minutes. The nurse told me if it was turned off, the bed would deflate if I got out of it. She stated that all their beds were like that. Since I couldn't sleep with a loud noise coming from the bed every few minutes, I asked her to disconnect the bed "massage feature". She kindly did so, but when I had to get up during the night to use the toilet, the bed did indeed deflate, but only in the middle where my new hip needed to be placed. I explored further and discovered the "mattress" was a thin blow up plastic substance that probably was designed for a child's cot, not for a hospital in an upper middle class city in the USA (which I thought was a first world country, but now I'm not so sure). I just sat in a chair all night and couldn't wait to be discharged. The staff were very defensive when faced with my complaints, so I told them I didn't blame them but rather the corporate greed evidenced by the ownership of the facility. I hope to have a replacement of my other hip in a year or so, as this one went so well, but I told the surgery team I would NOT be using this hospital next time around. I wish to advocate for the medical professionals stuck with the dismal amenities (?) of this facility and will be in touch with the Tenet Corporation, who I believe own this hospital, to give them a first-hand report on how their refusal to provide decent facilities affects the health of the community it serves. read more

Update: So it turns out that my consistently abnormal labs and some of my symptoms were caused by cancer all along. What happened the day I posted about was one of the most humiliating things I've ever gone through and hurt my mental health immensely. I still think about the way these nurses in the ER mocked me and how the doctor told me what I was experiencing was not real to this day, but now I'm angry too that I was not taken seriously when I knew something was wrong with my body. Kindness is important. Taking patients seriously sure seems like something that should matter too. Words matter. I do not recommend this ER and hoped no one else has had to go through this too but I see from other reviews I am not alone in being treated poorly here. /update read more

I spent 3 days Arrowhead abrazo Hospital, on the third floor med-surg. Everyone from the nurses, assistant nurses and doctors we're wonderful. Rachel Fields the director and Tara Bivins assistant director have a very organized and well-run floor. Charge nurse Cindy was amazing as well. On Tuesday March 21st my husband had cervical surgery. The surgery went perfect. The hospital on the other hand is Horrible. I am so disgusted with place. At 11 pm hospital staff brought someone into the room where my husband was. Didn't know they still even had semi private rooms anymore. They were loud and disturbed him like he was not even in the room. Then the nurses tried to blame him for the semi private room. WE HAD NO CHOICE!! They said we asked for that room, total BS. So he went for a walk to get away for the chaos only to be accosted by a security guard, and told to go to his room. When he didn't the guard called him and asshole, told him he was going to kick is ass, grabbed his IV poll and almost ripped out the IV, got in his face and stuck his finger into my husbands chest several times. He attacked a 65 year old disabled man in a neck brace in the hospital!! And no one, not one person on staff tried to help him! Disgusting hospital and sorry to say the staff sucks too read more

BUT this place Just treated me like a queen pre, During, and after having my first beautiful baby girl. Experience I had with the nurses right when I walked in and when I left was purely amazing. I would not be alive today if I stayed at this miserable hospital. I discharged myself and went to another hospital where they immediately did tests. When the doctor saw the results, I was rushed to an operating room. It took less than 20 minutes to go from the minute I stepped into the ER to being sedated and being operated on. I would not recommend that anyone go to Abrazo, especially if it is a life or death situation. read more

Would give zero stars if possible. Went into the ER with numb pelvis, leg and foot associated with extreme back pain. PA dismissed me saying I didn't meet the criteria for an MRI at the hospital and said I have "sciatica" (mind you I have a herniated disc in my upper back so I know what it feels like). He apologized for my "leg pain." He kept saying if I had numbness, tingling, bladder or bowel loss, I might meet the criteria and I told him again that I had numbness, weakness and tingling and he again told me I didn't meet the criteria. I asked to speak to a supervisor who then came in and explained to me that they would have to call staff in to do an MRI. He did an evaluation and once I told him my entire groin area was numb, he went to talk to someone and sent a nurse in the room ten minutes later with a prescription to get an outpatient MRI at a later date. I was very concerned going into the ER with my numbness, weakness and tingling foot and felt very dismissed. I am hoping something doesn't go wrong over night or in the next couple days that could have been caught had I been given an MRI. If so, the hospital will definitely hear from me again. Aside from this, the nurse I had was wonderful and helped me as much as she could, so this rating doesn't pertain to her. Seek care somewhere else if you have the opportunity to. read more

Huge thank you to the hardworking nurses in the ER today. My SO had a terrible allergic reaction today, and when the paramedics (who were amazing) asked what hospital I wanted him taken to, I realized that I had no quick answer prepared for such a question. Arrowhead was fairly close so that is where they took him. The doctor and nurses worked efficiently and professionally with the paramedics and quickly got him situated, medicated, ran the necessary tests, and kept us informed on what medications they were giving him and why. The room was cold and the iv fluids and medications made him shiver uncontrollably - the heated blankets the nurse brought him were a huge help and much appreciated. It's a little thing, but seemed a caring gesture in the midst of all the tubes and machines and uncertainty. The staff took great care of him, his symptoms finally subsided and he was released. The medical team was wonderful, the billing department was easy to work with and the check out process was simple and hassle free. I sincerely hope I don't soon need a quick answer to the question "where do you want the ambulance to take you/your family member," but at least now I have one just in case. read more

The ER was great I was seen within 10 minutes. Everyone was very nice and professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Kang was in the ER and very thorough with with asking me about my health and concerns. Then explained that after the test and MRI cane back I needed to be admitted fir a few days. I have never been admitted to this hospital before. But I do not think I will ever come back again to be admitted. They did not have me down for any meals. The nurse was very snappy. But some of the others were nice. UPDATE: Chief Nurse Robin read my review and came into my room to discuss it with me. First I want to say it is so nice to see that companies really read what people write and take time to talk to them. Robin sat and listened to my concerns and reassured me that this was not typical nor acceptable of the hospital. Robin is a patient advocate and represents herself as a kind and caring person. I visited the ER for chest pain tonight. I drove myself as I didn't want to waste time waiting for an ambulance. Once inside, their focus was on the fake flu, not a possible heart attack! Then I was told to "have a seat". Note that I didn't see any other patients... just employees, casually talking amongst themselves. After about 20 minutes I returned to the window and requested they give me my ID back because I was leaving! They refused! Then someone finally came out and took me into the screening room. Again, I asked for my id... "nope". About ten minutes later they did an ekg. About 30 minutes later another nurse came in to take me to x-ray. I asked her for my ID and she said "we will be back in about two minutes, I'll get it for you then." Which she did. By then I was feeling much better (on my own) so I continued to wait. Then I sat for another 10-15 minutes in the waiting room inside. A nurse came up and wanted to start an IV, by this time I was feeling much better and thought I could make it to a better hospital. I asked to talk to a doctor first... because I was considering walking out. She took me to a room in the ER, where I waited alone for almost 2 hours! I never saw a doctor! During my long wait, I was able to observe about 6-10 staff members in the nurses station. None doing much other than chatting amongst themselves and snacking. They were wearing masks... but not on their faces! Since I was alone, and personally believe this current flu ordeal is 100% political, I too removed my mask. Shorty after someone came in to update my payment info. As they entered I put my mask on. For their comfort, not mine! Shortly after a very rude woman, staff member, came in and ordered that I was to wear a mask the entire time I was there! I told her that if it's really that important, she should tell the 6-10 employees to put theirs on! She ignored me! After finishing up with my personal info, I asked who that rude woman was... apparently just a secretary of some sort! I told them I was leaving, & walked out! On my way to another hospital, I instructed my son to hire a lawyer if I had medical issues on my way to a safer hospital. He promised he would. Fortunately for the rude secretary, the incompetent staff and the hospital, nothing bad happened. I won't be returning! If they are foolish enough to send me a bill... we will be going to court! read more

I had my son in the ER early this morning - I am VERY unhappy that I was charged a $600.00 deposit on my credit card, when I only authorized a $100.00 deposit - I have called the billing office and the hospital direct to get this taken care of and of course, no one is will answer their phone - Next step is to contact my credit card and dispute this charge. BEWARE - they make you pay up front and if you are lucky enough to get a refund from your deposit, it will take months - Also, you will receive an additional bill from the ER doctor because he is not part of our insurance group - even though Arrowhead is part of our insurance group. I was taken by ambulance to Abrazo Arrowhead, Glendale, Arizona for Atrial Fibrillation with RVR. I was extremely disappointed by the care in the ER at this location. After being taken into a room, I was hooked up to a monitor and a EKG done. Of course, I was still in A-Fib with RVR. A staff member came in to draw blood. He couldn't find his tourniquet so he attempted to draw blood from my IV hemlock without a tourniquet. of course, that didn't work so he had to go looking for a tourniquet. He left syringes on my bed. He seemed quite unprepared and a bit distracted. An RN came in and asked a few questions then stated, "I'm going to give you and IV medication. I'll be right back." She didn't return for 20-30 minutes. During that time a physician came in and asked a few questions. He was difficult to understand but pleasant. He then stated, we'll give you an IV medication (Diltiazem). The RN returned, gave the medication and left the room saying I'll be back in a few minutes. She never returned. At one point I had to call out to a passing staff member to ask to be unhooked from the monitor and handed my IV bag so I could use the bathroom. No call bell was ever given to me or attached to the side rail. Upon my return to the room, no staff came in for over 40 minutes. In the meantime the blood pressure cuff laid on the floor the entire time inflating and deflating every 15 minutes. Mind you, this ER was not very busy! Because I'm a retired nurse, I actually hooked my cardiac monitor back up myself. When a nurse did come back into the room she stated, "Oh, your blood pressure cuff is on the floor." I responded, "Yes, where it has been for over 40 minutes." She picked up the blood pressure cuff off the floor and placed it back on my arm. She NEVER cleaned it! An x-ray tech came in to do a chest x-ray and wondered why I wasn't given a blanket (since the room was cold) or offered a pillow or the call bell never provided to me. This lady was very pleasant, very efficient and expressed concerns as to why I wasn't in a gown being I was to be admitted. Since the IV medication did not convert me back to a sinus rhythm, it was decided I would be admitted. While waiting for a bed, a Diltiazem Drip was started. Within 20-30 minutes I converted back to a normal sinus rhythm and was allowed to go home w/o a needed admission. I will say the doctors who came in were pleasant and professional, especially Dr. Jeffrey Greenberg (Cardiologist) but the nursing staff was the worst I've ever experience. LAZY, LAZY, LAZY!!! Based upon my experience, I will NEVER return to this hospital. Regrettably, I will not be using Dr. Greenberg for my cardiac care since he see his patients at Abrazos. There are many GREAT hospitals in our valley and I'm sure even in the Abrazos system. This particular one, on that particular night (June 4th) was not a example of quality care. Lots of chatter over-heard at the front desk between staff about personal stuff rather than focusing on caring for their patients. My advice to Abrazos management (especially nursing), keep the personal small talk with each other in the break room and focus on patient care, which is what you're paid to do! Took my husband into the emergency room today. He was feeling dizzy and has several different health issues. I tried to go with him but was told that the nurse was going to do a quick triage and he'd be back out. He disappeared from the room and I inquired about his where abouts. I was told that he was taken back, I couldn't go to him nor was I entitled to know what was going on. I waited in their germ riddled waiting room for an hour. Inquired again and received a very condescending comment, just rude. It's making me sick that I left him there. Made a phone call and they're just as rude over the phone as they are in person. If this is one of the best, I'd hate to see the worst this area has to offer. read more

I have lived in the Arrowhead neighborhood for 18 years, and will do everything I can to avoid it in the future. My first experience was a broken ankle - which was pretty routine. However, I was billed incorrectly and had a fight on my hands. "No - you cannot bill me for a room. I laid on a gurney in the hallway for 5 hours!" All caregivers had billed me separately, so I asked for a detailed invoice of charges. I finally had to write to the administration of the hospital. They clearly have not improved as my 88 year old mother is there as I write this. She has been in ER for 3 days! Supposedly, they are attempting to transfer her - but when I call Banner, they say they DO have beds available. Further, our family members have had to ask - and go find - a blanket, socks, and they do not feed her in ER. Because our family members are currently sick with flu/strep/pneumonia - we are "rotating" visits among whomever is healthiest to be there and meet her needs. It's extremely stressful not knowing if she's been fed, assisted with hygiene, etc. We have medical personnel in our family that have commented that while they understand the demands of the ER, the personnel is only doing the bare medical necessities and lack compassion. It's like she's alone in a refugee camp. read more

I can not say enough good things about my experience here giving labor. I went in 05/21 to be induced and from the moment I got there everything was perfect! They had ice water prepared for me, made sure I got my epidural before I was able to feel any pain and they were so sweet. My labor nurse was Crystal and she was the sweetest thing ever! She made not being able to have my mom there okay, she was so motivating and just kept telling me how good of a job I was doing. After being switched to my postpartum room I encountered a older nurse named Amy and she was the best. While I was doing things in the middle of the night she came in and rocked my baby to make sure he was comfortable, and she always checked on me to make sure I was not feeling any pain and okay. She gave my son his first bath and let me and husband go with and watch and hold his hand it was awesome! I then encountered a nurse by the name of Randi and I can't say enough good things about her either! She was very personable and made me feel so comfortable. I'm not having anymore kids but I definitely will be recommending this hospital to anyone I encounter based off the experience I had with these nurses! Also the lactation specialist Cathryn was amazing! So helpful and motivating when it came to breast feeding and so dang sweet! read more

Terrible ER experience. I was on meds that suppress my immune system and none of the ER staff entering my room washed their hands or used alcohol wipe. Mostly seen by student MD. Rarely saw the physician. When the physician did examine me, he completely ignored me and spoke to the student. I was simply a test dummy laying on the bed. No followup care instructions given. Not even the phrase: "follow up with my PCP". Only time I received their undivided attention was when they came to collect my deductibles. Next day I ended up seeing my PCP who was able to diagnose and treat me effectively. I am a insured paying customer who does not abuse the ER, and will not return to this ER. read more

There is something seriously wrong at this hospital. My husband was taken to the emergency room due to passing out at a store. From the start, we had to beg for information and updates as to his care and treatment plan and there was zero sense of urgency by any of the staff. I watched an RN swab blood up from the ER floor with a washcloth and then use the same washcloth to clean the blood off my husband's leg that had open sores. Every time we asked for information, we were reminded that they are understaffed. He was serious enough that he was admitted for a blood clot to his lung and then he spent 2 days in the ER due to no hospital rooms. While there, we saw multiple elderly unattended people stacked in the hallways on gurneys. Heartbreaking. When he was finally transferred to a room, he was moved to a room with an elderly female. How does that happen? They found him a single room after about 4 hrs of awkward co-ed misery. The floor is basically staffed by nursing students overseen by a condescending and rude RN that doesn't respond to the call button.....ever. The Drs were nice, thorough and professional and obviously stretched thin. Whomever runs this place - you are critically understaffed and you need to get your act together. No one deserves this lack of dignity and care that you are providing. read more

I brought my 1.5 year old son into the ER after he hit the back of his head pretty hard on our tile floor. He was looked at by a doctor (not even very thoroughly) and we were discharged. The bill for the ER visit was an absolutely ridiculous amount (approximately $1,900 before insurance). I called Abrazo thinking that there was some sort of mistake. Their billing department told me that the amount was correct for a level 3 visit (seeing a doctor in the ER). The only reason I brought him to Abrazo was in case he needed imaging (MRI / CT scan). I will never, ever, use the Abrazo ER again, unless it is a life or death situation. The care provided does not even come close to the amount charged. read more

The average wait in the emergency room is listed as 24 minutes. I've been sitting in a patient waiting room for almost 3 hours. Apparently all the beds in the ER are full. I went to the bathroom 2 hours ago and there was indeed a patient in every single room. All of them appeared to be sleepIng and they were all alone. No doctors or nurses to be found. Can't really turn beds over when no one is working. I'm dizzy and nauseous and I only feel worse since being here. Other patients are coughing and germ ridden and we are all stuck together in a cubicle which could actually serve as another patient room! If you have ANY OTHER OPTION do not come here. They are slow to work but spend plenty of time laughing and taLking with each oTher. Not a word said to me in almost 3 hours. Not really professional or compAssiomate. read more

I went to the emergency on Friday night around 8:00PM. I had an avulsion fracture and torn ligament. I had a CD with my x-ray on it and I already had it read by a doctor. My PCP had suggested me to go to ER, I was hoping to get some orthopedic advice. They wanted to x-ray again which I refused since I had an x-ray done just a few hours ago. They told me the x-ray shows an avulsion fracture, which I was already aware of. Abrazo told me to go home and wait till Monday to see an orthopedic doctor. This advice costed me $1296! Also, no doctor came to see me, just a tech to put a fiber glass splint. These splints are $20 on amazon. I had an ankle fracture and she put the splint past the knee which further restricted movement. So I had to throw away that splint. Also all this utter waste of time lasted 3 hours! This place does not even deserves 1 star. read more

Very little time was Doctor/Patient. Most interaction was Nurse/Patient. It seemed like a long wait in between tests for a potentially serious condition, which made my family uneasy. I was woke up all night to have tests conducted, however during the day time the same urgency did not exist. In spite of this, all was going well with my visit until the end when it was time to be discharged. I was waiting to be seen by Neurologist prior to discharge and ended up waiting over 3 hours for the doctor to approve my discharge. Previously, billing had spoke to me about payment which made feel uneasy as I had not been cleared for discharge. I feel that more emphasis should be placed on responsive of the doctors than ensuring patients with great insurance are aware of how much they will owe. read more

This rating is not for the hospital itself, but, for its billing department which is in another state! After my ER visit, I began paying my portion through my bank. I have every bank statement showing all payments and the bill was finally paid off. However, one of my payments was never posted to my account and is not reflected in the hospital billing statement. Called the "only" number to resolve. 10/13 I faxed letter with bank statement showing withdrawal. Was told takes 48-72 hours for my fax to be scanned into their system and then have to wait two weeks for them to research. I called 3 days later and was told my fax was scanned 10/17 and to wait two weeks. Called 11/1 and was "then told" that nothing but cover letter came through on fax!!! They will not call you to confirm receipt of documents. Had to re-fax documents and now have to play waiting game again! I have never heard of a billing system that cannot confirm receipt of faxed documents! I read some other horror stories through the BBB and the billing is number 1 issue. They have poor rating with the BBB and I know this is going to be like pulling teeth to get my payment refunded. read more

I have had to go to this ER twice over the last few years. I have also had surgery and stayed overnight. The staff everyone from the people who check you in, to the registration staff to the actual medical staff treat you with kindness and respect. And honestly I can't say this about other hospitals in the valley. Arrowhead is my go to hospital in the valley. As far as Hospital goes to me they are one of the best. And I've never had a bad experience with them as of yet. But I have A huge amount of respect for the ER department. Thank you for making my experience as comfortable as one can having to be at the ER. read more

Oh my word I am over the moon with this hospital. Labor and delivery nurse was spectacular, I loved her so much she was great. Jasmine, you are amazing at making women in such a vulnerable state feel comfortable even when they aren't. I am so grateful for her. Dr folkestad delivered my baby and he's been 5 stars all along the way but getting my baby out safe keeping my mind at ease answering all my questions and explaining everything in about 5 mins was a amazing as I expected if not more! Recovery nurses!! Jen, Mary, Lisa, Vanessa, I'm so grateful for you ladies you were all amazing to us during our stay! I hope one day you ladies find your name in here and once this pandemic over I can drop you off something nice. It meant the world to me how sweet you all treated me my husband and my newborn.
