I don't normally write reviews but, I felt the need today to bring something up. I traveled the country for 3 years in retirement and the pizza at Abrusso's is the best I've found rivaling only that from my home state of New Jersey. Since I moved to Jacksonville a year and a half ago, I've frequented Abrusso's at least twice a month. However, yesterday I ordered a large plain for pickup. It was ready on time and I paid $21.40 on my debit card (the advertised price with tax). I brought it home and it was as tasty as ever. When I checked my bank this morning, I saw I was charged $25.84! I did not leave a tip and signed for $21.40. What was the extra charge? I bring this to attention for the ownership. Is there an extra charge for debit or is someone at your Piney Green store skimming? Maybe you ought to look into it. The four extra dollars s not going to break me and I will continue to eat at Abrusso's because the pizza is so good. But, I think I'll pay cash from now on. Update: I received a call from the store and there was an error In applying a tip. The tip was mistakenly charged to my card and the store will issue me a credit upon my next visit. Mistakes happen and I'm glad the ownership and management made good on it. The pizza is still the best! read more

Wife stops by once or twice a week. It's our favorite pizza spot. We never ordered this much pizza from the national brand.

Ordered online just a simple pizza and mozzarell sticks. Said 45 min estimated pickup time. I get there 35 min after ordering to be told the order was almost finished as I see the dude hand my slip to another staff and start making my pizza and just then put it in the oven. I walked out already having a bad day and wasn't waiting another 30 min after being lied to that it was just about done. Wasn't even busy either so not many excuses with 6 people working. read more

Best pie in J-Ville, hands down. Or hands up. Listen, however you keep your hands is your business, just know this is the best za in town. The right amount of grease, the right amount of ingredients, the right amount of "pass me another slice before I hit you." Opened in 2014, Abruzzo's pizza has a real hometown feel. There is seating for about 15-20 people inside. The staff is super dope. Very friendly, accommodating, social. Low key tip for the win: every once in a while, Abruzzo's will serve tierra-miss-sue. I don't know how to spell it but you know EXACTLY what dessert I'm talking about. And it is as delicious as the pizza. Go here. read more

The pizza a made fresh right there in front of you, and the staff is willing to customize it any want you can think of. Leaving a 1 star rating is the last thing I wanted to do however, what I witnessed at this restaurant can not be ignored. I ordered 3 steak and cheese subs for pick up on 5/18/2020 15mins before closing. Of course they took my order and said it would be ready soon. As I drove up I observed a gentlemen preparing my food without any gloves on. I also observed the same gentlemen wiping his face with the back of his hands and wiping his hands on his pants. I counted 7 people moving around an area with no masks or gloves while my food sat on the counter unwrapped. I sat for maybe 5mins before the lady came out to get my credit card information. When she came to my car I asked her is it common practice that no one in the establishment wears gloves while preparing food? She said yes! We don't wear gloves because when they open the ovens it will melt them. She said other pizza shops like dominos are mandated to wear them but not Abruzzo's. We don't have to! I also asked her about the gentlemen who wasn't wearing gloves or anywhere near an oven preparing my steak and cheese subs and she had no answer. I also asked about why no one was wearing masks because it was 7 ppl back behind the counter cleaning and working. We're in the middle of a pandemic with Coronavirus!!! Overall I'm highly disappointed. I order from here at least 4x's month. If I would have known they blatantly disregard the most basic sanitation requirements I would NEVER eat here again. The staff is amazing! We recently moved from the west coast to Jacksonville and finding a pizza place was on my list of things to do. I loved the fact that I felt I was back in Sicily with the Decour and brickwork. It was nice to see that there was a place to get a huge size pizza and was done in a timely manner. I like the flavor of the cheese in the crust was not too thick nor too thin to enjoy. Unfortunately the breadsticks are not tasty. I would need more a Italian flavors. There needed to be more garlic and cook time for it to be close to the pizza flavor. They have refillable drinks and a nice variety of desserts. read more

I was so glad I had the two slice special! The slices are huge so I don't recommend two for everyone. Ordered a large Hawaiian and hot wings. Both were without a doubt the worst pizza and wings I've ever had...and I'm not that picky. It got worse as I ate it. Even our toddler, who loves all kinds of pizza, eventually started spitting it out after each bite. The pineapples tasted like they came out of a can moments before delivery. The ham was pure rubber. I see that the guys from Abruzzo's Pizza have kindly responded to my review. They were respectful, sincere, and humble and for that reason alone I am re-writing my thoughts on this establishment. Subsequently I have ordered a pizza or two and while the sauce is not my favorite I will give props for the overall taste. I can say that the peppers are now discernible on pizzas but I will never order a calzone from here regardless. Just not my thing. Is this the best pizza in the area? Truthfully it's easy for them to be. The rest of the pizza joints pretty much suck. Life and experiences are subjective. Because I rarely visit yelp I didn't realize that they had reached out to 'make things right.' No need really. I don't need to see that they are sincere by what they can do for me. It's all good. Delivery was pretty quick and the driver was really nice and helpful. Pizza: just got a large plain pizza and it was delicious! Just wish it had a little more oregano on it. Fries: the kids gobbled these up quickly, so they must have been good! House salad: needs improvement. It's literally lettuce, shredded mozzarella and your choice of 3 veggies but aside from tomato and raw white onion they really only have peppers.
