Coffee is very good. Needs nothing added to it because it's so flavorful and smooth. Bagels are good. Only complaint is sometimes your toasted bagel comes out barely toasted and with hardly any cream cheese. That's more of a staff issue though so still giving it four stars because of the quality of their food and coffee. read more

I stayed a few blocks from Absolute Coffee and found myself there for breakfast two mornings in a row. The first morning I ordered an iced coffee and a chocolate croissant and it was great. The next day I ordered an iced coffee and a ham and cheese croissant. The iced coffee was fantastic (and they had almond milk). Stopped in yesterday. The place was empty but for me and one employee on a late Tuesday morning. Ordered a latte to go, which was PERFECT. Best foam I've had in a long long time, which is high praise coming from a former barista. Inside is cheery and chic, but I think if they added some more comfortable seating (and not just those hard plastic chairs) it'd hit literal perfection. Though there's Clover across the street, which is rarely open, and Little Sweet Cafe around the corner, which is tiny, I think this'll become "my" new spot, especially on those days I'm working from home. Hoping word picks up and they get more business soon, as it's a few doors down from me and I'd love for it to stick around for a while. :) read more

It's nice to have a spot for good coffee on Atlantic Avenue for the quick pop-in, but I've been spoiled by places like Hungry Ghost and Gorilla just a little further away. The atmosphere inside, and the staff, are warm and welcoming, but if I don't plan on spending an hour sitting down and catching up on work or with a friend, $2.25 for 8oz just isn't worth the quality of drip coffee being poured. I'll have to go back and try the pour over brews and really sit back and enjoy the place before I give it more than simply "A-OK". read more

A lovely coffee shop slightly isolated from the plethora of trendy caffeine stops around Smith Street. You must try the cardamom bread if you go, the best baked good of them all. The place is a bit small but it has decent seating and good wifi. Great music selection! Perfect for casual listening while working, reminiscent of old Barnes and Noble beats. The staff is pretty chill too. Lastly they have a nice selection of drinks, and they are pretty well made. read more

New guy at the counter. I totally understand why there are minimums for credit cards at coffee shops. It's definitely unfortunate that I didn't have $4 in cash for a cold brew so I had to pay with mine. So when I asked you to add an additional charge I can just pay and go, not caring- please do so. FYI I've been behind the same counters before. Here's the logic: either modify the charge to add a dollar to my coffee the merchant can avoid the service fee, second: charge me a croissant, anything small: I'm not going to eat it, hand it out for free and make a good tip/ don't hand it out and make extra profit. No instead you looked at me and charged me $4 after what felt like a conversation. So to sum up, the coffee shop still lost either .40 or .80 of profit on that sale, you still got an excellent tip off of a bad experience. (Why bad experience? As cliche as this may sound. Don't get between a man/womans first coffee of the day) some people just want to grab and go. I'm not a bad person- I just have things to do- coffee helps me do those things. I live in the hood and there are many coffee shops around, and most are really good. But I have to say, Absolute is my favorite cup of coffee. And if you like almond milk, ask for it. The combo of their almond milk and their house coffee serves up a nice designer cup just like that. The coffee itself is medium bodied. Beautiful flavor without the acidity, residue or any jarring sharp notes. Instead, drinking their cup of coffee is like swimming in a beautiful melody of perfect balance. Smooth, round, elegant and savoring. Don't get me wrong, you'll get that bump in energy too. But the drinking experience is quite joyful. The staff here is really chill and nice. You'll love it for both the coffee they serve up and the atmosphere of the shop. It's like a little piece of sanctuary on Atlantic. Love it. read more

Second time coming here which has solidified Absolute Coffee as my go-to cafe when I'm in the area. Why? The staff remembered my drink even though it's been a couple weeks since I came the first time! Coffee: I've had the cortado and the large latte, both with almond milk because I'm lactose intolerant. The foam holds well on both and the espresso itself is on the mild side. I like the fact that they include a spoon and saucer with each drink if you're staying in - it's the little things, y'know? Eats: I've had a plain croissant and an apple turnover. The plain croissant was flaky and wonderful to eat. The apple turnover had quite a bit of filling - I prefer to have bigger chunks of apple, but I liked that it wasn't too sweet, even with the granulated sugar on top. Space: It's on the small side but I've always liked sitting by windows (if I wanted to be cooped up, I'd just go to a library!) and they have small bar seating that I enjoy staying at. I've been there during the week around lunch time and both times there was a steady stream of customers but it wasn't ever crowded, meaning it's a nice place to go to if you want to stay and chill. The music is fun - oldies and 80s when I went - and I definitely appreciate that it's at a safe volume. That is, people can have conversations without shouting and if I'm listening to something on my laptop, I don't have to crank it up in order to drown out the music. Good connection to wi-fi and great lighting that makes it feel cozy yet airy at the same time. Service: Like I said, I was impressed that they remembered my drink! The guy and gal that were there both times are friendly, they explain things in an easy to understand way and don't try to push anything on you. They keep things pretty tidy and let the customers be. Overall: Good place to work, meet up, or just chill out if you're in the area. (It also helps that Boomwich is just down the street!) read more

I haven't written a Yelp review in the longest, so you know it's legit when I'm drawn to writing one. This is my 3rd visit to this cafe and honestly, I think I've found the perfect local cafe in downtown Brooklyn for great coffee and getting work done. The friendliest baristas are here and always so welcoming. There is wifi, a bathroom, small tables, two benches out front, and plenty of outdoor seating with heating lamps above. I'm usually here in the morning or late afternoon before closing and there's always plenty of space. The customers here are also respectful of the space and doing work so it's quiet all the time to get work done without any distractions. I used to bounce around cafes all the time (also because I love coffee), but now I'm always here as my first choice. I've tried the croissants, bagel, and the gluten free muffins (slightly oily) and they're great - no complaints. Thankful for this space! read more

This afternoon I walked from my Air BnB to downtown Brooklyn. Why walk 4 miles in 50 degree weather? Exercise mainly, and wanting to see the town along the way. Let's be clear, the walk from Bushwick to downtown Brooklyn is seedy and pretty run down with not much to look at. And it was freezing. Call me a California girl, I am, but it's damn cold. Thankfully, Yelp pointed me towards Absolute Coffee. This was a quaint but hip coffee bar. Walk up and order your drink, but be sure to order in the right way, or they will correct you. For example, the man in line behind me ordered a Chai Tea Latte. The cashier/barista corrected him and said, "It's a Chai Latte." I educated the man and said that Chai means tea, so to say Chai tea is redundant. He didn't laugh or smile. Moving on from that awkward conversation, I found the bathroom, hallelujah! All that walking, my bladder was so thankful. My only mistake here was simply ordering and not specifying for here or to go. My order was called and all packaged up. I picked up my items and found a seat at the bar that looks out the front window. Next to me was a young girl studying for some kind of algebra test. Instantly I became incredibly thankful that my school days were long over. As I sipped my almond milk latte, I realized I was smiling. Was it because I had escaped the cold and blunder outside? Or was it because the coffee beans were perfectly roasted without any hint of burnt taste and the almond milk was frothed to a velvety perfection? I tore off a piece of the Dulce de Leche donut that Absolute gets from "Dough," a well know donut shop in New York. Their donuts had been on my list of places to try while on my trip. And as delicious as the dulce de leche icing topped with sliced almonds was, the donut itself was too much. The dough to topping ratio was far too uneven. But can I stop eating this tasty treat? No. God help me New York, you will make me gain 10 pounds. read more

Came in to escape the heat and sip on a nice iced latte. The service and coffee was pretty good but the space was kind of bare bones. Even then, I kinda wish they had free wifi, there was a wifi network, but it was locked. I wasnt sure I needed to ask or something but it wasnt clear. Plenty of plugs around, and it was pretty empty. This place has some really good coffee, and you can tell by the taste of it. The coffee is pretty strong and will definitely wake you up. Its a small place, most people go there to study or read a book. It seems like a nice cozy place and they have good art on the walls. I got a latte with almond milk which was really good and a coconut donut. They dont have a big variety of pastries but they have a good variety of coffee. Its kinda weird cause I didn't know if we should clean up the table after we were done or if they were going to, when we asked the guy, he just told us to put it in a bin on the floor which seemed kinda awkward but at least the coffee was good read more
