The Hot Cheetos asada fries were very bland and dry. Honestly, it did not seem like any of the food we ordered was seasoned. The al pastor tacos also had no flavor at all. There were more refried beans than meat, which was disappointing. The only positive was that the homemade tortillas were good. The shrimp ceviche was the most disappointing item. The shrimp had no lime flavor and was rubbery, almost like it was store-bought. The tomatoes did not taste fresh either and seemed more like canned tomatoes. To make it worse, the limes served with it were old and dry, so there was barely any juice to add flavor. The Tapatío sauce ended up being the best part of the ceviche. The churro was probably the only item we actually finished. Quality of food was just not great and literally no flavor. read more

Came here while visiting from Reno and honestly, I wish I ordered more. We got the Hot Cheetos tacos, asada gordita, lengua taco, chicharrón taco, and an asada taco. Everything was so good. The lengua taco is a MUST. Super tender and full of flavor, probably my favorite out of everything we tried. If you want something different, try the Hot Cheetos tacos. They're unique but actually really good, not just a gimmick. The asada gordita really impressed me too. The tortilla tasted freshly made and the texture was perfect. The Gorditas is primo! When you go, make sure you focus on the tacos and the Gorditas, fantastic place. The taste is really authentic and made with passion. The last time went, I was in between breakfast and lunch so I order something for each ... I made it to Abuela's for their 15th anniversary in business celebration. They had a huge party, some city council member made it there and other officials. A dj was present and a mariachi band was also present. A huge contingent of low rider vehicles were there ti help celebrate the occasion. Now let's get down to what I'm interested in, the food, I ordered the lengua taco and a al pastor. The lengua seemed to be just boiled with no spices to bring out some flavour, it was rather bland, just boiled lengua without any character. The al pastor is certainly not what I expected, I'm normally used to al pastor being more moist with a little sauce, this was also not the case. After a busy day working & running errands, I decided to grab a quick lunch to enjoy at home. I'd seen a lot of TikToks about this place, and it was on my way, so the timing was perfect. The restaurant has a super cute, homey vibe. The pictures of the abuelas on the wall are adorable, and the decor is both cozy & a bit eclectic. My food did take a little while, but I could see everything being made fresh, so I didn't mind the wait at all. I appreciate made-to-order food. I ordered a shrimp taco, a chicken taco, and two carne asada tacos. I'm glad I got a mix so I could try different options. The tortillas were delicious; honestly some of the best I've had in a while. They were fresh, slightly puffy, and sturdy enough to not fall apart. No need to double up. Loved them. The shrimp taco was decent. I assumed it'd be grilled shrimp, but I did enjoy the breading. The carne asada tacos were my favorite. Juicy, tender, flavorful, and just a little fatty in a good way. The meat had a delicious char flavor. I would order them again. The chicken taco, unfortunately, was very dry and a bit bland. Even after adding toppings and lime, it still didn't move me. Customer service was great and the prices are fair. One small downside was that online ordering wasn't available when I tried, which was disappointing. Granted, I didn't try calling, but the website does have a button to order online for pickup via GrubHub. Also, while most of the restaurant was clean, I did notice crumbs & what looked like a spill on the bench next to me. Our first time coming here and we were greeted by Leslie the owner. You can tell she takes pride in her business and delivering amazing food. We had the tacos and tortas Al pastor and chicken flautas and tacos. All were so delicious and the handmade tortillas were just the icing on top. Not a lot of places do tortillas hechos a mano so we're happy we found this spot. The owner was so nice. She came out and asked us how our food was and just had a nice chat with her. She even gave my son complimentary rice and beans and said I know my kids liked this when they were little and she was right haha. Don't let the unassuming shopping center fool you. I have no idea how this place has so many positive reviews because the food is an absolute insult to authentic Mexican cuisine. It tastes like bottom-tier cafeteria food. I ordered the torta al pastor and it was completely inedible. The meat was a salty mess but somehow had zero actual flavor, the bread was the cheapest quality possible, and they literally just tossed a whole tomato inside instead of actually preparing it. Ordered catering...every single person at my step daughter's graduation complained about the cold dry salty meat. Rice, cilantro and onions were so sparse it was ridiculous for the price. When I contacted the owner she was defensive and said she's never had a complaint, seriously, as a business owner it's important to receive feedback and to be so unprofessional is unreal. I will never use this business nor will I refer anyone to them. It's one thing to miss the mark it's another to completely disregard feedback and be rude. Added: And the response from the owner shows her total disregard or understanding of the issues. No acknowledgment of the over seasoned dry meat provided. Even my 10 yr old nephew commented how salty and nasty the meat was. Literally every person complained...we had 20 people ordered and paid for 30. This spot is so good! My boyfriend got 8 carne asada tacos with everything (cilantro and onions), and I got 4 of the hot Cheeto carne asada tacos--and wow. The hot Cheeto ones were next level. The tortilla was actually made with hot Cheetos and had crushed Cheetos on top. Super flavorful with an awesome crunch. They had a bunch of sauces on the side, from mild to spicy. I went all in on the spicy ones and totally spiced myself out (no regrets lol). My boyfriend stuck with the mild sauce and said it was super tasty. We also shared a large horchata--it was perfect. Not too sweet, not too bland, just really smooth and refreshing. The tortillas were handmade and had that perfect soft-but-crispy texture.
