We came here for some tacos on Taco Tuesday on our way to Sam's Town movies. Didn't expect much, we were just hungry. They had a full menu. We ordered the chicken and carne asada tacos. They had a little salsa bar too. The tacos were filled full with the meat and they were delicious. All of us were quite surprised about how good the food was. The service was fast and they gave an inside dining/seating area with a laid back atmosphere. Reminds us a bit of Tacos el Gordo, just on a smaller scale. What a horrible experience coming here, immediately being talked down from the cooks thinking we didn't understand Spanish. After a long day thinking we are going to head to a good taqueria. Everything hit the spot for me when I came to eat at Taqueria Gil. The restaurant was very clean, and everything was very organized. Salsa bar was organized and clean as well. Appreciate the self serve onions beans and jalapeños. I came on a Sunday at noon, and it wasn't overly busy. I ordered 6 tacos and a breakfast burrito. I tried the tripas, pastor, lengua, and chorizo. It was all delicious, with zero complaints. The service was pretty fast; I didn't feel they took long at all. The breakfast burrito was pretty big as well and had lots of meat, not just stuffed with potatoes. I did see they offer 2x1 al pastor tacos on Tuesday as well. Just want to start it with the pros before the cons. Pros are it's within walking distance if you live in the area , it's a lot cheaper than other taquerias. It's clean inside and outside. They have a wide variety of menu items. And the cons they are forgetful so you have to double check everything fore you leave the flavors we're not great some of the items I got were lacking seasoning. Some of the items didn't taste fresh either the Sonora hotdog " was an item where the hot dog itself was dry, the pastor fries came with beans guacamole and pico de gallo and al pastor. The beans were from a can you could clearly tell.the pastor has a very odd and distinct smell and taste they were not good at all. I k ow this place was trending in yelp which is why I wanted to try it but I personally did not have a great experience and because of this I will not be taking my family back here again. read more

This location was recommended by a friend for lunch so I tried it. I ordered the carne asada tacos. The tortilla is homemade and the flavor of the tacos was excellent. The meat was tender and seasoned well. I did not add any toppings. The tacos pictured are how they come. They were a little spicy, but not overwhelming. I would go back. read more

I got it home and realized we had been given a plate with 3 tacos pastor, the order was supposed to be 4 carne asada tacos. I called the restaurant to let them know the mistake and at first they said I needed to call DoorDash to make the complaint. The tacos and burritos were both great. The meat was tender and flavorful and their salsas are the perfect spice levels.

This spot is so good so clean and will not disappoint. I have had many carne asada burritos in my days and this is the best one I've ever had. The meat had zero fat and tasted top quality. They are also known for their Al pastor which my brother got and said it was the best his ever had (and he's Mexican), lol. To top it all off, the customer service was excellent. Eran las 2:40 cuando ordenamos y cierran a las 3, el cocinero no quiso cocinar mi quesabirria bien porque ya no quería usar la parrilla. Todavía no cerraban pero el ya no hizo mi comida bien. Me devolví porque también la carne era puro cuero con gordura casi nada de carne. Me lo dieron otra ves seco!!! El mismo taco con la tortilla quemada nomas le puso más queso y carne. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Taqueria El Gil. My wife placed an order inside the restaurant and ended up waiting over 29 minutes for our food. After several guest coming in after my wife and them receiving their food first my wife ask what happened to our order and the cashier replied with a condescending tone , "You haven't got your order yet?" My wife of course replied "NO"! When it was finally ready, the cook tried to serve her my carne asada fries cold because they had been sitting there since the order was first made. Thankfully, she insisted on having the entire order remade, but that didn't fix everything. When I finally opened my to-go container, I could instantly tell the fries were undercooked--completely unacceptable. This isn't the first time they've messed up our order, and unfortunately, the service here is not that great either. After multiple disappointing experiences, I've decided I won't be returning. It's a real shame because I wanted to like this place, but they just can't seem to get it right. read more
