I hired Aiden to look at a commercial unit at a chain store. He said he went to the store and found that the motor was bad. He said the motor was on backorder. Me and another coworker has tried to contact him numerous times after this, and it goes straight to voicemail. We have left at least 10 messages with no return call or email. I'm with a multimillion dollar corporation that has lots of work in Hawaii. What kind of company turns down work from from someone willing to pay you via credit card as soon as your done? I have plenty of work to offer in Hawaii but seems hard to find contractors wanting the work. I'm dumbfounded by the integrity, and work ethics of some people who own businesses. Had my AC go out on me on Friday 2 July 2021. I have Extended Home Warranty so I submitted a claim. 3 days went by and they were unable to find a technician. I started calling around. I contacted about 6 different AC companies who were either very short on phone or were just too busy to help. Luckily I came across AC Star and spoke to Shawn. He was able to come out the same day. Sean installed a split unit in our commercial space about 2 years ago. He chose the size and brand. Price was $4,500 and included 5-year warranty on parts. In Nov2018 there was a water leak of unknown origin. We suspected the AC, but we weren't sure. Sean came to check the unit and declared after 15min that the leak was coming from a neighboring commercial space. Property manager made an assessment shortly after and diagnosed the source as our AC unit. Sean didn't answer repeated attempts for contact and another AC technician from a competing service was able to fix the problem. That technician said our unit is too small for our space. The same AC unit didn't get cold last week, so our first call was to Sean. Sean said we owe him "Three hundred something" from the Nov2018 15min leak / no leak incorrect diagnosis. We never received a bill, so we asked for an invoice. He agreed to take a look at the unit on Friday of that same week and never showed up. To date, we still haven't received an invoice and he no longer answers our phone calls. We found another AC technician from another competing service, and he also said our AC unit is too small for our space. We do not recommend AC Star for new unit installs because he didn't honor the warranty. We do not recommend AC Star for diagnosis because he couldn't do what a property manager could in identifying a leak. read more

I found AC Star when I was searching for a technician to conduct normal preventive maintenance on our AC systems. Nothing was broken, however a wise man once told me you should get your AC components checked out periodically and professionally cleaned. Their guy Shaun (sean?) got back to me within a day and scheduled a day in the next week, quoting me $350 over the phone for both the split and wall ACs for our house. When he got here, he changed the price to $497.38 because the unit needed more work than he thought. I left a check with my family and went to work, only to find out he was out of the house in about two hours. His work quality, attitude, and over-all customer service were five-stars, however the price he charged (versus what he estimated to get in the door) was way higher than the quotes I'd received from other technicians, and I wouldn't have asked him to come out had he said he may need to raise it once he got into the unit. Bait and switch tactics reduced my rating to 3 stars. read more

After seeking a number of quotes from various A/C companies, Sean at AC Star was the first to get back to me, and the only one to honor an on-site appointment to assess the property. I was able to have him inspect the space in which I wanted to instal a split A/C just a few days after the initial call. When Sean arrived, he was very polite, made a quick assessment, and provided a recommendation on the spot. Having previously researched BTU's vs space requirements, I found his recommendation to be reasonable. The most important selling point was his ability to install the unit within 2-3 business days from accepting the quote. The only other company to return my request for quote stated they were backed up to August. Installation of the Fujitsu split A/C went smoothly and without any surprises. Sean showed up when he said he would, and completed the job in a timely manner. The installation was clean and both the compressor (outside) and the inside air outlet are practically invisible. So far, I haven't had any problems with the unit. Ok first I apologize for the lenghty review, but I feel like i have to write my first review ever, and do it justice. I am from Florida and had no idea who to call if i had any problems with anything within my apartment in Honolulu, and to be quite frank, I am used to being ripped off by all handyman types on the mainland, so, I expected the same on Hawaii when my AC stopped working (stopped working after one month upon moving in). Anyways, I called a few AC repair companies and had them come over. My dad taught me to always get a second opinion. My budget was already razor thin, and when I heard the first couple of quotes, I almost had a panic attack. I knew nobody, so I had it repaired by the cheapest out of the bunch. Long story short: i paid $700 dollars for repairs, and it worked for 3 days. For 10 days I kept calling them to ask them what the heck happened, but they weren't answering my calls. I finally just gave up and started calling AC repair places again, only this time I would have to max out my CC. Two companies came around, with the first telling me I should replace the whole system, and that it would cost ten to twelve thousand dollars. I called my parents, I didn't what to do... so I called one more number cause either I was going to buy a fan, or just wait until I save up some money. This guy from AC STAR showed up on time, and told me exactly what my options are. Turns out I didn't have to replace the whole system, but just the outdoor unit. He actually went up into the attic, and checked my indoor unit, which other guys didn't do... He said that just it would just need cleaning, but its condition was good. I had been having trouble with my split a/c system when lo and behold Sunday night it dies. Not only does it die but it dies leaving this high pitched squealing sound. No way to turn it off. So my mom said call Korean guy they faster, we waited 1 day, well the 2 she called never called me to schedule to come out.So back to sleeping with ear plugs. so I emailed AC STAR since it was in the eventing, figuring they would get it in the am and we could at least schedule something.So Tuesday I figure holiday so not going hear from anyone so its cool, so here it is Wednesday at 8:53 am i called the office no answer just a answering machine so I left a message saying I emailed and was not calling & would like someone to call me back. Called AC Star yesterday and after 30 min Sean called me back. He was the first to respond. Sean said he could come by today at 8AM. 7:50AM he is at my house in Ewa Beach with his helper. Both were very polite and respectful. The company van is very clean and looks professional. Sean's diagnosis rate was the lowest of any of the other AC companies you will find on YELP and the fee is applied to your total bill, not that way with some of the other guys who charge you just for coming out to take a look and then start the meter after that. I tried diagnosing the problem my self and after several hours of asking Google and Youtube I finally gave up and call professionals. I am so glad I did. After checking on a few things and confirming with his gadgets he told me I needed a free-on charge, new gas filter, and air filter. He didn't have the right gas filter or sized of my air filter in his van. He said he had another appointment to go to and would get the parts and come back in 2 hours. 1hr 50 min later he came back with the parts and got to work. Sean showed my where in my Attic I could find and how to replace my high end air filter. My wall thermostat hadn't been used in almost a year so the battery leaked causing the motherboard not to work properly. He tried his best to clean the board but not luck. He felt bad for me with all these expenses piling up so he offered to get me a new thermostat at his price. He said he will come back on Friday at 12 noon to finish the job after he gets the right thermostat. So far so good! I will definitely call Sean again to maintenance my central AC unit. read more

I started calling ac unit repair people because my ac broke down on Saturday and now it's Monday, and the first one I called would take 2 weeks to come out, the next a week away. One I called, and while the phone was ringing, I get a text from them stating please either text back or email them. I did. They texted me back at 10pm at night saying they are too busy.
