He took my AC back to his shop to service and the next day called to tell me it wasn't serviceable because the wiring was connected in such a way that the insides couldn't be removed for cleaning. My 4 year old window AC unit started leaking water into my living room. I called the company that I had purchased the unit from who told me it just needed to be cleaned/serviced, but they no longer made service calls to my part of the island. I was a little hesitant at first to go through this company, since they have a 3.5 star average here on yelp. However, I soon realized HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO FIND A LEGITIMATE COMPANY TO INSTALL A WINDOW A/C. Yes, all caps for emphasis on how difficult it was. Yes, there are random "handymen" on craigslist that advertise being able to install window air conditioners, but the idea of letting some random guy off of Craigslist into my home is not all that appealing to me. We had bought a window a/c from Lowe's, and all we needed was someone to install the darn thing. I believe Cool Zone sells air conditioner units; however, they were also happy to install the one that we had already bought from Lowe's. I had originally wanted to go through another contractor that had installed another window a/c in my home last month, but they were damn near impossible to get in touch with and kept blowing me off. I called other a/c installation companies that I found from researching on yelp/google, and they all said they don't do window a/c installations--only the "bigger" jobs like central a/c and split a/c. Finally, I came across Coolzone and gave them a call. They answered on the first try (yay for not having to leave voicemails and play phone tag for once). I called on a Wednesday and was able to get an appointment for that Friday! Two days later! I was very impressed that we were able to get an appointment time so quickly. They didn't need to come to do an estimate or measure anything. I just told them the style of the window (slides sideways--no jalousies or anything blocking it) and 6,000 BTU. They said they would come become 10 AM and 2 PM, and they showed up right at 11 AM with all of the supplies they needed (including the big piece of plywood to close off the rest of the window). They installed the window a/c in about an hour or so for $200. I wasn't home at the time they did the install (another family member was home), but I was told the workers who came were very professional. I now know why Sears is going out of business. I bought a window unit, paid for installation and the first night a stream of water was falling from the back of the unit. I paid to have it uninstalled and exchanged it for another and paid to have the new one installed. This time? The water not only flowed like a stream from the unit, It actually came out of the sides and I have no idea how...but out of the top of the unit. Not kidding...seriously...for real? I live next door to my HOA president who the day I moved in here, informed me window ac units were not allowed. So finally I went to Yelp and found Eric. I called like 10:30 on a Monday night expecting to leave a message...but he answered! Yikes. So along with a lot of apologizing for the late call (who answers their business phone so late?) we talked about my desire for a unit that doesn't shoot water out onto the wood exterior of my condo. We talked about what I wanted, what he thought I may need and where I lived (he actually was familiar with the building...but not the HOA president) and said yes, he would be there Friday to install for me. I was so impressed when he showed up for an install with the units (yes, two) came upstairs and decided on the spot, I could use a smaller unit (just one!) and would be back to do the install next week. Honest, professional, personable, with high integrity (coulda taken me for more than twice what I ended up paying for by putting in more AC (I mean, is there even such a thing as too much AC??!!) than I needed). Eric was efficient & prompt. Bought my Friedrich window ac from him 2 years ago. He delivered & installed quickly. Fast forward to this week & AC was not working. Panel display started blinking & beeping, no air. I was unable to turn it off & had to disconnect the plug. Called Eric & he came within a few days, took my ac to his shop, and returned/re-installed it the next day. Turned out to be the circuit board needed replacing. He also cleaned & serviced the unit. Today I had a great surprise as Eric himself showed up to do my install ! I have never met him before as my former two installations were by his employees. Once again the installation was quick, expertly done and I love my new Friedrich that I went with as it very highly rated with a great warranty also. I had asked Eric if they could toss my old AC unit and they said no problem. Also the work done was not only quick but there was no mess left either as they pack up all their rubbish and take it with them! Eric was great as he answered all my questions that I had regarding AC units and maintenance all while he was doing the install. I swear he could probably do an install blindfolded as he is just so adept at it. After the install he went over the controls and made sure I understood all the functions and also pointed out the instruction booklet should I forget what he just explained to me. Eric the owner was very professional over the phone and very approachable in person. What won me over was that he was very thorough when I asked questions and was very up front with the prices. When they showed up to install the a/c they arrived on time and did a very clean job. The first a/c that they opened from the box when they arrived was slightly damaged due to shipping (was not their fault) so they hook me up with a new one a few days later with no extra payment. Eric did a wonderful job of installing my new window unit yesterday. I called him on Friday and told him it was broken. Due to a renovation project in my building, we are supposed to keep our windows closed, so it was very uncomfortable in my apartment. He was able to work the installation in on the following Monday, which was awesome. I agree with the other review were's is not great about answering the phone and his voicemail is full. If you need someone who will always be available, this is probably not the company for you. He works from early in the morning until late at night installing and servicing air-conditioning units; he's a busy guy. So I got the bigger motor which cools down the rooms fast. Installation is the hard part but Eric got it down fast and knows his stuff. Cleaned my aircond too which was dirty with mold and oil. I was having trouble finding a business that would install a window AC into my jalousies. Actually I was having trouble finding someone that would install window ACs in general. I'm glad I got a hold of Cool Zone. I also needed a "dripless" AC for my apartment and the Friedrich 12,000 BTU model that I got from them does the job. I rarely see any water dripping from the unit! I wasn't home to witness the install, but when I came home it was nicely installed. They had to make some modifications by cutting some pieces of wood, so I was glad that I didn't try to install this myself. Overall great job and I'm loving the new air conditioner! We had been waiting almost two months for another company contracted by Lowe's to get their stuff together and install the AC unit and we got tired of waiting. I had a problem with my Friedrich wall air conditioner which started making an excessive amount of noise. I contacted another company who quoted me a lot of money to come out to repair. OMG Eric needs to train the rest of the industry, he was not only friendly and communicative, he left no mess. He serviced my existing Frederich removing it, covering the hole, returned it on time the next day and in the home was less than 10 minuates with removal and return. The air smells great, clean without a disenfenctant smell. The unit runs as if brand new. Not cheap, but upfront and fair price. I bet my power bills will go down and pay for itself in a few of the upcoming summer months. Get him in for your ac before the heat hits and he gets too busy. Very professional, efficient and friendly. I inspected and I bet he added at least 2 years of life to the unit, all corrosion and mold gone and it is 3 years old now. Just awesome! Beware!!! Have used Eric in the past with great service - BUT, no more. He took my two window air conditioners out of my apartment on 5/11/18 and I haven't heard from him since!!! I have THREE phone numbers none of which he answers. Have left messages when mailbox not full BUT have never received a return call!!! Went by his shop - closed up! - no note about emergency. There was mail in the mailbox but no other sign of life. Reported him to Better Business Bureau and police. Now considering a suit in small claims court. I purchased a Friedrich 7,800 BTU window unit on 7/5/14 which i've used in the bedroom at night. It isn't cooling as well and it is loud. Cannot reach Eric Holzman, President of the company at any of his phone numbers. The mailboxes continue to be full. Tried to purchase a Sears Protection agreement because they'd fix it, but Sears doesn't fix/cover Friedrich. I purchased another Friedrich A/C for my study from American Air Conditioning on Ala Kawa St. & at least they're reachable by phone & I may have them fix the other unit. Called Cool Zone to get a quote for installing a window ac in a bedroom because I had dealt with Affordable Home AC previously and they were a little expensive and overly aggressive on their collection of payment if not paid at the time of service (but their install and service were fine). Talked to someone at Cool Zone on the phone and was not impressed with their tone of voice (not rude but not enthusiastic or friendly either) and got a decent quote on a Friedrich window air conditioner that they recommended. Set up a date and time (they said it would be difficult to pin point an exact time but it would be between 10 and 12) and they showed up at 10:15 am. Install was quick, professional, and clean. The Friedrich air conditioner was extremely quiet. Eric from Cool Zone was friendly, informative, and very professional. His helper was not Mr Personality but seemed to know what he was doing.
