Where to start? How about this "A plus customer service". Absolutely not. Very disingenuous, condescending, and quite frankly, misogynistic. I'm not your dear and your fake pleasantries aren't going to mask the fact that you're robbing people blind. I brought my car on Wednesday at 12pm, watched him write 2pm and tell me I would have to wait until the morning to get the diagnostics seeing as how "I brought it in so late in the day". Ok fine but not true and I could do without the snide comment. Morning came and went, no call. I called at 3pm and was on hold for so long it went to a voicemail and I had to call back again. Finally got a hold of someone, they told me they were still running diagnostics. They called back around 4:30pm and said they still need time to run the other diagnostics. Another day without my car. Friday mid morning they call to tell me the outrageous quote for the work. It came down to sheer convenience and I caved. I tried to call back to approve the work, on hold AGAIN twice, for over 5 min each time. Going to voicemail again the first attempt. Finally approved the work and was told it would be done soon. Once again I had to call at 4pm cause I knew they would be closing soon. Guess what? Again on hold forever! Go to pick up my car and there's at least 4-6 guys working behind the counter so not sure what the deal is. Work was way overpriced, not to mention $160 per EACH diagnostic with only half going towards the work. Very disappointing. Cherry on top: a tip screen! Ahahahahha, are you kidding me? Took my car here instead of my normal mechanic because I thought I had an electrical problem. When I first called, an employee named Adam took my call and was actually extremely nice and helpful. After I dropped my car off and waited a day, a different employee called me and told me I needed to replace my alternator and timing belt and it would cost upwards of $2200. A different employee was rude to me on the phone when I said I wanted a 2nd opinion. He was condescending. My normal mechanic told me it was not even close to either problem. The only issue was the Throttle Body and the connections needed to be cleaned. I had my alternator replaced 6 months ago and the timing belt replaced 30k miles ago. These guys are scummy cheats that will make up issues and scam you. Do not go here. read more

These guys are really nice to your face, but when it comes to actually getting your car serviced they fall well below short. I initially call in asking about a quote for my timing belt because my car is lurching forward while in D. They give me one and tell me they need to run a diagnostic to make sure what we're fixing is the problem. I agree and we drop it off, when we pick it up... guess what?? The problem is still there and then when I go back inside they tried to charge me another $120 for another diagnostic? And then they begin to tell me i requested just the timing belt so i look at my receipt and show them where they charged a diagnostic fee( so are you saying you didn't even run a diagnostic, yet charged me for it?) They cave after being shown that and tell us they'll diagnose it again for free. It ends up needing a PCV Valve replacement, so we do it! So at this point with the PCV valve and initial timing belt system replacement were in about 1k. We go to pick upp our car and the car doesn't even start. The car has a dead battery all of a sudden. How would you feel after all this??? Again nice guys, but really missedd the Mark multiple times Update: They really thought I was going to forget what they pulled, they called us back after offering to exchange the dead battery they returned the car with a new one. Upon picking the car up Dave held my girlfriends keys captive until she removed her review. She was by herself, and had to take an Uber so essentially at their mercy.Sucks buddy because I'm still leaving a real review of your poor customer service. read more

I am from out of town and my car broke down. ACA told me it had a rod knock and needed a motor swap. I brought it to ACA and they really talked the talk. Victor and Dave sound great on the phone. However, I had to repeatedly call in to get updates and each update was a rain check on acquiring a new motor. After a month, they had completed the motor swap (nearly $6,000). I picked up my vehicle and they had zero paperwork on the motor they installed. I asked how many miles were on it (since they didn't call me to inform me prior to putting it in) and Victor took my receipt and wrote 91K miles and signed it. For anyone familiar with the automotive industry, this is not common practice - engine swaps require paperwork. I drove my car approximately 500 miles and took my car to a dealership for an airbag recall and they inspected the work on the "new" engine. Turns out, ACA Automotive neglected to replace many needed parts, and they didn't even put in my original oil tube - opting to leave in the older, rustier oil tube from the lemon engine they installed into my car. There is rust all over the blocks and severe 5/5 oil and coolant leaks on the head gaskets. Not only that, we found additional damage to the vehicle that would have impacted my decision of whether or not to salvage the motor - which ACA conveniently ignored and did not inform me of at any point. The dealership said that this engine swap appears to be a complete lemon and was not performed up to B.A.R. standards. I just called in to address all of the above issues with the manager, however Dave told me that he didn't want to hear ANYTHING about my vehicle and only wanted my name and number so that he could have "corporate" call me back. I demanded to speak with whoever signed off on this and he told me I would have to wait at least a day to speak with anyone. I informed him that the B.A.R. will be getting involved if they do not immediately reach back out to me to remedy this situation and I have already mobilized my lawyer to look into potential options to indemnify myself from this blatant victimization. read more

Spent a cumulative 5000 on my car here a couple years ago. One diagnosis after another, this wrong that wrong. Every time i picked it up it seemed to get worse. Like an idiot i took my car here 3 times to get fixed, i honestly could believe someone at a "legitimate" business could be this terrible and shady. After the 3rd time and the car still not working, i took it in again and they diagnosed it as the same thing they fixed the second time, a broken hose. I told them they already fixed it and the guy gave me attirude and said "sometimes things just don't work". Yeah, its your job to fix things that don't work jackass. Ended up taking it to the dealership and they diagnosed it as an engine issue, something completely different from the three times i took it to ACA. Dropped another 2400 for an engine rebuild and my cars been working fine ever since. Ill admit i don't know anything about cars but again i wouldnt expect such a well received company to be so blatantly corrupt. Don't trust these scam artists with anything. read more

I went in to get my first smog test and not only were the people there extremely helpful, they were also very kind and didn't treat me like I was dumb for asking questions (I've had bad experiences where automotive places talk down to me because I'm a girl and pretty clueless when it comes to cars but I TRY to understand). I went to have my older car smog checked. I called and spoke with Ernesto, he told me about the Manager's Special where they took $20 off the smog certification. On the phone he said it would be 1 hour waiting time. I arrived and checked in. It was not more than 30 minutes that they had my car checked and ready to go. I also appreciated the old 50s and 60s music they had playing in their small 4 seat lobby, yet they have amble seating outside to enjoy the sun. They guys were very polite, personable, friendly and of all ages, which I appreciated. Great place to go and I have gone there for the 5th time and have enjoyed it and found quality work each time. They also have a young woman who is a former Army person who wears her Army cap with pride. She'll talk with you about her Army experience for a minute then she'll inform you respectfully that she must get right back to work. I will start by saying the staff is friendly and the place has a good vibe. Unfortunately they are so busy they struggle in areas. I called for a quote and was told I would get a call back but never did. Took my car in on a Saturday morning and got my car back Monday evening. Price I paid for 40,000 mile maintenance was about the same price as the dealer. I was told they use Chevron synthetic oil which was great but when I got my invoice they used Fram synthetic motor oil. I also don't even know if they inspected my car and check brakes, fluid check etc.. as nothing was stated on my invoice.Over all a decent place but for time and money I spent I will return to the dealer for future services. read more

Centrally located in LB, this shop never fails to impress. I first came to them for a routine smog check, and was impressed with the professionalism and attention they gave to even this routine task. Earlier this week, my son's car (Nissan Altima Hybrid) needed to be taken in for lots of preventative maintenance and some repairs. The first place we called was ACA. Vic got him in, same day (they work on a first come, first served basis) and was so honest about what the car did and didn't need. We ended up getting all the work completed in less than 24 hours and his car runs like new. So, naturally, when I wanted to get my car serviced, I came back to ACA - they handled the oil change, advised me on a simple additive that could help my car (Mini Cooper) not burn oil. In their review of the car, found that my battery was due to be replaced (I don't think it had ever been replaced), and they were able to get a battery and handle all the necessary work on my car same day. Was trying to get a price for oil change on my RV and they asked a few questions then just stopped responding.

My alternator went out on my vehicle on a Friday night at 5pm. I called a few different shops and by far, this shop was the most responsive and easy to deal with. I had my vehicle towed to the shop on Saturday morning and as promised they were able to source the part and complete the job that same day. They even offer a 10% AAA discount which I gladly accepted. They found another small issue which was a leaky boot on the axel, but let me know I had some time before it needed to be fixed. They were not pushy with any up selling and provided me with an estimate for the work, which I plan to go back and have completed soon. Overall, this was a great experience with an auto shop, which isn't always the case. I'm also not surprised that they received the award for #1 AAA shop in Long Beach.
