Wow I just can't believe this place has any negative reviews. I have always taken my car there and it's always been great. My first experience with ACA was 3 years ago when I first moved to Long Beach for school and didn't have much money. I went in there because I was hearing this horrible schreeching/grinding noise from my brakes and was afraid it would be expensive. I remember that i sat in the waiting room and enjoyed a cup of hot coffee while i waited for the results. Once they had the results for me the guy actually took me out to the car and showed me everything that was wrong with it. I was really surprised that they did this especially since i know nothing about cars and it was really helpful that i was able to see it. He really educated me on how the brakes worked, which imressed be sooo much!! Even though they had a list of things they were recommending, he was really helpful by prioritizing the repairs for me and working with my budget which I thought was above and beyond. He informed that it would take the rest of the day to complete repairs, but gave me ride to school and even picked me up when the car was done. I was so impressed by the level of service that recommended them to my friends! My second experience with them was about six months later when my brakes started squeaking again. This time I was smart and went in immedietly, before the dreaded GRINDING niose started. When I went in the guy who helped actually remembered me, looked in his computer, saw that they recently did the brakes and inspected it for free!! Even without me asking. It turned out that it was the back brakes this time, but was nothing major, which was very relieving. Anyways I just wanna say that I have been going there for the past three years and never had any problems. Keep up the good work guys! read more

I am reposting this again, as it was apparently "filtered" for whatever reason I do not understand. And I feel it is VERY important for consumers to understand the pros and cons of ACA so not to be taken advantage of as I nearly was on two occasions. If you receive a repair estimate that you feel is exceptionally high, I highly encourage you to find a second opinion from a different shop. First on the positive side, the staff here is very friendly and some minor mechanical work we've had done (tune ups, oil changes, etc.) were fine. But gosh ... their smog repair diagnosis seems truly designed to put you into credit card debt. Within one year, with two separate cars, they TOTALLY misjudged repair estimates. One car they estimated needed $3000 worth of smog work when another establishment did the job for $800. With a different car, after their "diagnosing" the problem for a fee of $179 and estimating the cost of repair at $2000, we again took it out for a second opinion and that shop determined the only thing needed to pass a smog check was a 25 cent part. I am not kidding. Total cost at this second shop including diagnostic, repair and a new smog check was $119. If I hadn't sought second opinions with both these vehicles, I'd be out $4000 (if I could have afforded it.) So buyer beware at ACA. They seem to either not know their emission systems or seem happy to take advantage of California Smog laws by saying "everything" needs to be fixed rather than taking the time to find the one or two things that will do the job. Seriously - a 2000 dollar repair estimate when it only needed a 25 cent part? From reading other reviews, it's obvious that these are not two isolated incidents. read more

WOW......I can't believe this is a automotive service company. I would expect this type of service at a high end restaurant, sure the ambiance is nothing like a 5 star restaurant but the customer service was above and beyond, that of which I have never experienced from a automotive shop in the past. The experience went something like this: " Hi there, I need an oil change" ACA "OK no problem which vehicle is yours" I pointed to mine and expressed my concern that it has never been to a mechanic outside of the Acura dealership that it was purchased. The gentlemen assured me that they were the alternative to dealership mechanics at a fraction of the cost and he was 100% correct not only was it a fraction of the cost but a shuttle took me to work they called me and offered me a ride, to pick up my vehicle. They driver was extremely friendly. They have coffee and water in the waiting area. What can I say. It seems like who ever owns this place really places the customers need ahead of anything else and to me that is what it is all about. To continue the story I picked up the car. They educated me on things that raised concern and let me know that they would be able to take care of that for me at later date. The price quoted was the price paid, no sticker shock at all. To top it all off I received a phone call 1 week later to see how my service was. That is world class. ACA you have raised the bar for all Mechanics. All I can say is WOW. Can you believe this is a Mechanic shop. My Acura will be going to only one Mechanic shop and that is ACA. read more

I recently took my beloved Jeep to ACA Automotive for an electrical lights issue. Little did I know that my experience would turn out to be electrifying in more ways than one! Let's just say the initial inspection report left me feeling as dim as the bulbs in my car. The estimate they provided me with was enough to give anyone a jolt! I left the place feeling like a lightning bolt had struck my wallet. It was a shock, to say the least. But wait! Management, clearly sensing my dissatisfaction, decided to step in and save the day. Enter David, the superhero from Corporate, and Vic, the manager at ACA. These two legends went above and beyond to rectify the situation. Upon reinspection, they discovered that my electrical issue was a minor issue that could be easily resolved. With great care and lightning-fast service, they got my Jeep back on track, leaving me feeling charged up and ready to hit the road again. In the end, what could have been a hair-raising experience turned out to be a shining example of exceptional customer service. ACA Automotive Repair may have had a flickering start, but their commitment to making things right is what lit up the room. Kudos to David, Vic, and the team for turning my not-so-good day into a truly great one. I now drive my Jeep with a newfound spark, and I'll be recommending ACA to anyone who needs their automotive troubles extinguished with a little extra flair! read more

I moved out here from Texas about four years ago. For the longest time I have been trying to find a good auto repair shop. Finding a good mechanic is always difficult. I have been taken to the cleaners enough times by shady, shade tree mechanics so I always try to be careful now. I came across ACA because I live in the area and used to drive by it on a regular basis. Recently, I hit a curb and thought I had bent my rim. My car drove funny and my left tire kept losing air. I called ACA and spoke to Adam. He was friendly and helpful. He was also able to get me in that day. They took a look at it and other than needing a wheel alignment and a patch on the tire, it was fine. They could have very easily tried to sell me a new wheel and tire and a bunch of other stuff but they were very fair and professional. The pricing was reasonable and they got me in and out that day. Since them I have used them for oil changes and other maintenance stuff and they are always great. They get me in and out and don't charge me an arm and a leg. When you move from a different place, it is always a pain to try to find a new this or that. I am happy to say that finding a good repair shop is now on less thing I have to find. read more

I was very disappointed with my last visit. They overcharged me.....replaced a coolant system and water pump but added a wrong coolant for BMW? My Airbag light was okay when I picked it up has lights on.....Then they missed to screw in a right screws at the bottom cover of my car. Then told me my one back tire has a hole and needs to be replaced and can't be fixed. I fixed it with another mechanic shop for free, simple patch. Couple days later while driving on the Frwy I heard a noise , stopped by another mechanic shop then found out this ACA Automotive mechanics added in my BMW coolant system a regular Antifreeze instead of special kind for BMW's only. Any specialist for BMW's should know you can't put any coolant and has to be only BMW brand! How ridiculous! Then tried to add more charges to fix some other stuff that was not needed to fix at that time.. They listed an estimate prices like a BMW dealers. What a joke? When I went back to complaint about the wrong Antifreeze, they fixed it and apologized at least. This is what I should never come back and find out on my own. What a gem I had the best service . I have spent well over a few thousand dollars at Schere Tire: with a compalint of my car shaking on freeway. Somehow they mananged to find more things wrong but never fixed my inital problem- Each time I took it back,(3) it was more money and orignal problem continued. This was over a period of 3 months. The shaking continued, I would have to pull over, have my car towed to the facility. I owed more money to AAA than I paid for the service. Car was towed six times .......... I went to ACA and my problem was solved. Bolts were loose on wheels. a very dangerous situation as I drive the freeway to LA. They didn't have any hidden fees, no add'l work that "must" be done I trust them without question.. A week or 2 later I had a damaged hose on power steering. I took it in, they gave me a discount as I had been there recently. They also had a car available to pick me up at home and brought me to the station when my car was ready. The best customer service from Adam and Victor and as far as I am concerned , that speaks volumes., read more

I found these guys a while back and I have always been impressed with their work and especially their professionalism. The first time I use them was for a basic oil change. they had a coupon so I thought I would give them a try. In the past, I have just used the basic oil change places because they are inexpensive and fast but after using these guys, I found that the level of service and the time spent was pretty comparable. Since then I have used them for a smog check, a replacement of a serpentine belt and having an alternator replaced. They are always good about keeping me up to date on a repair I don't have to worry about the work being done wrong. I have always found them to be very professional, and good at what they do and have always been fair with me price wise. My car is a big part of my livelihood. I don't have a bunch of time to mess around waiting to get my car fixed or just have stuff like oil changes done. I've had nothing but positive experiences with ACA and will continue to use them until they give me a reason to go elsewhere. read more

I have been taking all of my personal vehicles and my work trucks to ACA for the better part of a decade. The only reason why any of us continue to return to any business is that you trust the company and the personnel working there. I have found time and time again that ACA stands behind their work and has never tried to give me anything but their honest opinion regarding my vehicles problems. I have brought them a veritable plethora of mechanical issues and they always try to duplicate the symptom that I describe before moving forward. I think that is very honest and don't know of another automotive facility that is as thorough and continually keeps the customers best interest in mind. From small vehicles to large diesel commercial trucks I do not go anywhere else for automotive repair. Ask for Adam, Victor, or Dave and you will not be let down. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with ACA Automotive. They first gave me a quote of $1,200 for repairs. When I declined, they called me back and said "customers never deny" and suddenly dropped the estimate to $850, which already felt shady and unprofessional. During the process, they broke my valve cover and then told me they were not responsible for it. Their excuse was that the customer is responsible for their own vehicle, even if the damage happened while in their care. That is unacceptable. This shop takes advantage of situations and refuses to take responsibility for their mistakes. Instead of being upfront and accountable, they push blame back onto the customer. I would strongly caution anyone thinking of taking their car here. If you value honesty, professionalism, and accountability, I would recommend finding another shop. read more

I am pretty cheap when it comes to most things. If I think I can fix it myself, I am going to give it a try. Unfortunately, when it comes to my car, I am pretty useless. I needed to get my car aligned cause it was making right turns on its own so I took it to ACA since they were close to where I live. I always have this image of mechanics with perpetual dirt under their fingernails which is probably unfair. When I stopped in, they were able to look at my car and get the wheels realigned or whatever you call it. All I know is the car drives straight now. They were very professional and I don't feel like I got ripped off. If I am going to spend my money, I want to feel like I am doing it wisely. I feel like that in the future if I need to get something else done, they will do a good job and not rake me on the price. read more

I want to make sure people hear the truth they block me from continuing to write reviews and I am no person to be wasting time I want people to know the truth I was discriminated at this shop these people are political and only the side to fix the cars who they decide they want to fix they are discriminators all they say is good luck to your problems but they take your money away it speaks for itself I highly highly recommend stay away from the shop if you don't want your money taking away and give you more problems on your car and you're going to see that the owner is going to respond real quick just to just to cover his repetition for his company I wish they were that fast to take action about the wrongdoing read more

I came in alone to change oil in my car. It's relatively new, and usually my husband does it for me, but this time he was out of town for a month and I HAD to go somewhere ASAP. The oil was changed but in addition to that they told me how I need to replace some other parts before they break. ITS A NEW CAR! Did they tell me I need all those extra repairs because I know nothing about cars? I don't know. But when my husband took the car to another auto service they did not find all those 'issues' AND quoted even less if that was the case. These folks definitely have overpriced estimates. Thank you for helping with the oil change when I needed it urgently but I don't appreciate the attitute and upselling. read more

Special thanks to Service Advisor Mike Littleton for applying a coupon I'd been unable to access from my phone: he was patient, kind, and professional. Because I waited on-site for a little over an hour, I had the opportunity to observe multiple customer encounters: all were positive and reinforced that this is a trusted business, especially important in automotive. You know when people try to hard to impress you and they almost make you feel uncomfortable... well that was the feeling I got from this place. Their rates are so OVERPRICED and are probably one of the most expensive places I have been to in LB. Yes, the service was acceptable but I still felt a bit uneasy leaving my car with them. I have heard before that people have gone into this place with just one problem with their car and have left with a million more problems. I am a person solely based on word of mouth and will definitely try anything once if a friend recommends it. However, think twice about this place. read more

I have been very fortunate to find some great shops. I took my car into ACA to smog and I found the most professional operation that I have seen in the last 20 years. It was evident that the commitment to professionalism and customer focus is the culture, not only from the owner and the front desk, but through the mechanics to the shuttle driver who gave me a ride home.
